- James Cameron's Avatar is one of the most woke and politically charged franchises in modern media history and the new avatar game from ubisoft, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is shaping up to once again prove exactly why modern gaming is dying, if it isn't already dead. Not only does the game look like another soulless Ubisoft Asset Flip Far Cry clone, but the game just looks like it was rushed to meet a licensing deadline. What we are looking at here is yet another Ubisoft open world slogfest where 90% of the game is spent walking through an unnecessarily large and empty open world to do generic fetch quests over and over again. So even if you want to ignore the obvious Woke, political mesaging, what remains is nothing that deserves even close to the full purchase price. Consider this a pre launch "Review" because if you have played as many Ubisoft games as I have, you know exactly how this is going to end up.

The Avatar franchise has always been hilarious to me. Because it's so obviously meant to be a whole generic "white people bad" and "white people steal from natives and black people and kill them" shtick.

When I was an teenager, I watched Avatar and really enjoyed the movie. The special effects were mind blowing for me at the time, even watched again on a plane back to my home country.
But thats about it... nothing more. The plot is... well its there. And if you put this movie on a nutshell, pretty much is summarized by an man that betrayals humanity for alien booty, the end.
It's kind of understandable the only way he can get his penis to work is when he is in the blue giant alien body so pretty much alien booty is all his choices + it's the first booty he got since getting his new body.

It's weird to think James Cameron is the creator of this whole Avatar thing, which just doesn't interest me at all, but was also the main person who kicked off the Alita Battle Angel movie, which I absolutely love, and was seen as the anti-woke competitor at the time to the Captain Marvel movie back in 2019. I'm still hoping we get a sequel to that movie, with the caveat that it doesn't get updated for "modern audiences" and stays with the same outline as the first. This is probably a slightly off topic comment, but whatever.

The movies are clearly political, which isn't a problem considering that Deus Ex is still loved to this day, but it just comes off as virtue signaling as the humans are clearly evil. When will a Chinese or Black man be evil, right? Yes, there are defectors... like a handful. Believe me when I say that the irony isn't lost considering the relatively diverse background cast.
The second movie is pretty drawn out and filled with pretty stupid decisions from the characters. The entire family pretty much brought their problems to another tribe. I also don't know why a pregnant lady was in combat.

the OG avatar game on the 360 was pretty fun from what i remember i chose the humans simply cuz im based and i liked the mech walkers
I somewhat agree, but this game gives me what I wanted. To exlplore Pandora, without the annoying characters of the movies. I loved the lore and the ideas in the movies, but I hated the generic story and annoying characters. This game lets me dive into the lore of the moon and all the little things in detail that the films only hinted at. This game gives me exactly what I wanted. So if you loved the ideas presented in the film, and lore only hinted at, but were annoyed with plot contrivances, this game may be for you. Even if it's presented in typical Ubisoft fashion. The setting definitely helped elevate it, in my opinion.

I completely agree. There are some long games I like to play casually, but of late Increasingly jusy want short cheap but still fun 3-6 hour games I can play in an afternoon but honestly I have no idea where to look

Remember when the Avatar 360 game had a FULL Human Campaign where you take down the Na'vi? I do, it had outfits, vehicles, ally npcs, It was great.

On the subject of leveled enemies, no joke they outright rip it all out after about a year, it was like that in A C Valhalla, at level 1 you could take on basically anything, it's purely there to sell boosters so you don't need to grind but seeing the whales likely give up after the first couple of weeks, we can come in and (finger quotes) enjoy the game as intended.

When going to see the sequel with my brother and his friend, I realized how little I cared. I didn't remember the first movie, I didn't care to go back and watch it, it just struck me that I had no real desire to see more of the franchise. I don't get why people even like Avatar, and I don't understand how they're gonna make 5 movies, especially since nothing happened in the second movie.

I would still want to play it without letting the message affect me. I already know my values and stance on this subject and would just like to play a game with good open world and story.
