- Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is the Worst Game of 2023 and by far one of the most boring, bland, repetitive, and miserable gaming experiences I have had while playing a video game and I couldn't even bring myself to finish it for this review after over 27 hours. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is the Ubisoft Open World Formula at it's absolute worst and it is safe to say this game downright SUCKS. Not only is Avatar just a massive waste of your time but it demonstrates just about everything wrong with the modern video game industry whether that be an unnecessarily large and empty open world, repetitive fetch quests, prioritizing graphics over gameplay, and loading the narrative with cringe tier dialogue laced with political messaging. This game is also a complete disaster when it comes to technical issues and glitches. There truly is nothing special or even somewhat redeeming about this game in the slightest and your time would be quite literally be better spent with any of the other amazing games released in 2023 or in the past 2 decades. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is Definitely the Worst Video Game of 2023 that I had the displeasure of playing. If Avatar Frontiers of Pandora or Ubisoft games in general are any guage of the state of the gaming industry going into 2024, then Modern Gaming is Dying if it isn't already dead.

James Cameron's Avatar is one of the most woke and politically charged franchises in modern media history and the new avatar game from ubisoft, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is shaping up to once again prove exactly why modern gaming is dying, if it isn't already dead. Not only does the game look like another soulless Ubisoft Asset Flip Far Cry clone, but the game just looks like it was rushed to meet a licensing deadline. What we are looking at here is yet another Ubisoft open world slogfest where 90% of the game is spent walking through an unnecessarily large and empty open world to do generic fetch quests over and over again. So even if you want to ignore the obvious Woke, political mesaging, what remains is nothing that deserves even close to the full purchase price. Consider this a pre launch "Review" because if you have played as many Ubisoft games as I have, you know exactly how this is going to end up.

The first avatar game was better. You actually chose either human or Navi and was allowed to explore or customize your character. On top of it being like an Rpg with a bit of open world.

So your only complaint is that you can't choose sides (which I understand why) and that's what makes the old game better than the new one 😂? Because the recent one has better exploration and better customization than the previous one. Now the Far Cry comparison is getting old y'all are only saying it because it's in first person. I guess everything that has consumables , crafting , forests and first person is a far cry copy come on now 🤦. The only issue it seems like you have is the fact that you can't choose between a Navi and human even when they never said that we would've been able too.
They should have made it so that u can play both sides and tell a different kind of story from different perspectives

@@abstragento0087 Again, I would HIGHLY recommend playing the 360 game as you can do just that: you can have your own Avatar (or human depending on which side you choose) with your own Mountain Banshee that you can fly, and even command troops on what objectives to take around Pandora like a commander.
It was actually a pretty advanced game for it's time and still worth playing, with a lot of the mechanics you're talking about wanting from a game like this

Feels like modern game developers have lost passion for making videogames.
It’s more so the game directors and company stock owners who dictate what happens. Developers are just told what to make. Many have been coming out against the gaming industry. But I get what you’re saying and ai agree. A lot of new games really lack passion or heart

Ubisoft, if anything are consistent. They are particularly masterful at producing their signature slop to the exact same specification
What is it with Ubisoft and Gear based leveling systems? They have tried to cram it in practically every game they have made since the first Tom Clancy's The Division game. And except for, ironically enough, The Division's games, no of the game they've put it in have been better for it. In most cases it has made the game worse. They had to remove it from Ghost Recon Breakpoint over the backlash it received for including it.

Did anyone get to play the other Avatar game? it lets you choose which side you got to be on and if you didn't like what your choice you got a choice further down to change sides. It also had a neat little mini game in which your XP would also be credits for a risk style campaign map where you fought to take over territory of the moon.

Dude playing a human in this game would be amazing, it would be like a survival horror type deal. Maybe like Metro but in this universe. Be so much more fun then this game.
After being spammed with adds for the Frontiers over and over again with its cringey polish dubbing I remembered that game. I was playing it during college on my shitty laptop, so the performance were not that good and thought that the game was meh, okay, but nothing great. Now I tried it again on my modern rig, so performance was not an issue anymore, and sweet Monkey Jesus the Vampire Hunter, I didnt remember this game to be as good as it was. Like compared to the AAA shit we get now it was really fun.
It kinda boggles my brain why didnt they re-release this game on modern platforms with the premiere of the new movie.

This could be the best survival adventure game of the year, the technology exists such like Green Hell and Day Z, replace looting with foraging and done.
The funny thing is that all the avatar characters are ugly they could have at least made them look more attractive so you can have something to distract you from the bad gameplay.

It should have been in third person. Part of the reason I wanted an Avatar game is to look at my Avatar whenever I want.
Been playin for the last weekend and it's a blast of a game. The fact that you can't play a game without getting politically triggered seems like a you problem mate. There is games like Wolfenstein New Order that would make you definitely loose your mind.
You complain that the game is not optimised and it crashes on your console? Seems like a problem with your hardware cus on my mid tier desktop running on a 6700-XT the gameplay has never stuttered let alone crashed and I play without frame gen.
The glitches you show also do not happen on my device, maybe try updating the game? When I shoot the RDA mechs they do not disappear like you showed.
Your rifle aiming issues sound like a controller related problem like buggy bluetooth.
I don't know why you call the game buggy and broken because I haven't encountered a single issue that you mentioned. I found the game to be quite polished and optimised when it comes to FPS performance. Plus I am not sure why you kept mentioning Far Cry like I never played it but my friend that has played it said it was fun.
Also the game is not selling for 70 bucks, currently you can buy it for 42.6€ on Epic games with the winter discount which is what I did.
If you provided your negative opinion of the game with issues that other players are also encountering then it would be easier to understand but I have not encountered the issues you showed so try updating the game or your drivers.

But if I had to rate uniqueness and how good the game is, 5/6 if you aren't a fan of either avatar or far cry, 7-8 if you are. Or absolutely skip the game if you don't like the ubisoft formula. I waited for a deep sale, just picked the ultimate for 20 euros, I got my money's worth

It's crazy that within just a couple of console gens, gaming has become absolute bullshit. I started in 1987 on NES and right up until about 2011, it was easily my favorite hobby. Then things started getting bad with the PS4 gen and it's only gotten worse.
Gaming is as good now as ever. Maybe even better. I’ve been gaming since 1976. Started with Pong and Pirates Adventure.
Things got worse because companies decided that pushing unfinished, mediocre at best games, filled with micro transactions and unplayable bugs was ok to do. Lot of good games these past few years thankfully, but unfortunately these issues are really hurting a lot of games coming out these days

Probably because the assault rifle and shotgun are the close range DPS weapons. You don't really need melee weapons when all RDA enemies not using AMP suits die from one melee attack

As an actual fan of the Avatar movies, this game is not even good as a companion piece to those movies at all. Its the most bare bones, garbage trash that only a developer like Ubisoft can make with a big budget, and its laughable how much better the 2009 game is from a story standpoint and also a world building standpoint; which this game fails at both.

I think this game felt like a breath of fresh air after playing Far Cry 6 and especially Starfield. Im in it for exploring a beautiful, detailed world and I feel like ive gotten that so far. The story I couldn't care less about though lol

Visuals, sounds and the interactive world is on point in my opinion. There are a lot of repeating activities and it can feel dragged out to some, but I get that some people enjoy that kind of gameplay too.

This game is the final boss of the Ubisoft open world formula. They've been pushing this same formula for over a decade by just making it more and more bloated rather than innovate it.
Worse; they've actively gone backwards. "Innovation" like leveled gear and level-locking areas is worse than just doing nothing. I would actually have been happier if they kept making Far Cry 3 and 4 over again, with slight variations, in new locations.
I don't understand how someone can give a game that is *NOT* above average a 6/10. 3/10 sounds exactly correct considering the content of the game.
I think it depends on how you look at it. Like, the game looks great, mostly plays functionally, is well-acted, has plenty of content, etc. There are objectively good qualities to it. But then it just becomes, how much credit do we give that when they take all of those strengths and give us crap with it?

I have never been so frustrated with a game before. Impossible to read maps, fetch quests that give you wrong information. Shitty weapons and a shitty level up system. This game is an utter letdown
I was excited about this game untill i heard it was made by ubisoft, right then and there i knew, there is no game coming, just another peace of garbage.
I'm a bit thankful to know these games save me plenty of money by discouraging me from buying.

This is funny because I'm playing AC Origins right now, and it is grindy, but in a way that's kinda fun and a bit more natural. It got worse and worse with Odyssey and Valhalla though.

i honestly really loved odyssey more than orgins. it was grindy i had about 200 hours at 87% completion. Odyssey in my opinion is one of the best games ive ever played. i love greek mythology but the game play the grind the graphics the weapons the armor the dlcs were so much fun so jam packed i never wanted to stop. i eventually did cause i also played nms at the time and im a space slut and sadly i played on stadia so i dont even have access to it anymore without restarting on xbox which i wont do till i can

Nah, that particular problem is old. I see the opposite too; people shitting all over a good AA game, or indie game, because the graphics are mediocre. And it's just so dumb because graphics are so ridiculously expensive while not being that important; cut down on the graphics, and you have a boatload more money to spend on everything that matters.
Granted I’m only 6 hours into this game but right now I am really enjoying it. The world is stunning, and beautiful exploring is fun. Traversing the word is also very fun. The story fits the movie subject. Humans trying to take over nothing wrong with that. Yes I already see the typical Ubisoft stuff in it taking out bases, fetching things ect But right now it is a hell of a lot better than Far Cry Primal. That game was boring to me. I like the upgrading system, food system and the battle system is fun. Everyone who’s just taking Griffins word for it and never played it but talking crap. Get it on sale. It might surprise you.

I'm having much more fun emulating old games like Scarface: The World is Yours, Def Jam: Fight for NY, Fifa Street 2, The Simpsons: Hit and Run, Godfather, Ultimate Spider-Man, True Crime: New York City and The Matrix: Path of Neo, good games that just wanted to be games and not movies trying to sprout philosophical Woke messages like the disgusting Black Lives Matter immortalizing a woman-beating criminal and demonizing the public protectors, the police, LGBTQ rights and other crap like that.

I will say they should have let us be on the human side as the Navi, would have been far more interesting both gameplay and story perspective. But besides that, personally as someone who enjoys the Far cry slop formula, I’ve personally been enjoying it, but I can see why people ain’t enjoying it. The gear system is super grinding especially near the higher levels, and the glitches are very annoying

Well I liked it! Looks amazing, great to play and explore the map. I know a lot of people are tapped out on Ubisofts formula, but if you play one just once every couple years they’re great. My last one was Far Cry 4, which I also loved. Avatar isn’t as focused and has some poor systems, but what works, really works.

I began feeling the same way you did after only 8 hours of play. 6 of those hours is just WALKING. Combat is few and far between, gathering and crafting is trash, loot is an embarrassment.

The premise of the movie being adapted to the game oh my god finally but it’s oil instead of mineral mining
In far cry 3 the levelling up made sense because you started the game as nothing and then gradually. As you progressed you got more skilled as you unlocked the skills and perks in 3 skill trees towards the halfway mark of game and Near the end you Feel Really Powerful and for takeing out bases without setting off the alarm you’d get an XP boost and the radio towers doing them unfogged the map but gave you free weapons this is what they should’ve done with frontiers of Pandora.
You get more rewards when u finish outposts with stealth in this game so learn before u speak

That Avatar game for Xbox 360 was really good, Ubisoft had a chance to make a better version of it and decided to make another Far Cry, Ubisoft really sucks.
After Far Cry 6.. I will never buy a Ubisoft game, and this game looks like absolute garbage.

I'm surprised that you put this much time into the game. Usually, I just quit in the 2nd hour of a game, if it's boring or bad.
It's all about the content
I think a game can botch the opening and still be a decent game. But if you've played a full day and it's bad, the game is bad.
There is something funny about an anti capitalist message in a Ubisoft game at full priced with one of the worst cosmetic shops ever where everything looks the same.
This would be so primed for a classic FarCry style narrative where the bad guy has a point and have a more 'caught between two worlds' approach. I'm thinking a more refined and expanded version of the old 360 Avatar game that let you pick sides.
I saw footage where when you pick a fruit the bottom half of it doesn't move but it splits at that point, which makes no sense and is just lazy. Then when you want to gather the meat from a creature you just wave your hand and you've got it, so inconsistent but maybe it's seen as offensive to butcher the animals you hunt.
Don't want to offend the soy audience any more than necessary. I'm honestly surprised the Navi aren't vegan.
I just wanted to play as the humans, enslaving the alien race and followed by complete deforestation to make way for McDonald's

Personally it’s a decent game, the story is weak however the world is definitely great to explore and do think it’s what will mostly carry this game, weapons are bland and usually I just stick to one and the customization is meh, it’s not a ground breaking game however I felt decently satisfied also I played on the XSX and encountered no bugs or crashes so that’s probably based from user to user

Thank you for this. I was close to purchasing, but I'm really glad I watched your vid first. With that said, I need your help. I'm a 30 year old who didn't game until the last few years. I now have a PS5 and Xbox, but my PC isn't beefy enough to play any game I care about. If I name a few games I've liked, can you recommend something for me? I'm not super great at combat, but I enjoy a fair bit of it. I've mainly liked open world games where I can being a completionist scavenger. Games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit Become Human, Spiderman 1 - 2 & Miles, God of War Ragnarok, & even the newest Ratchet & Clank was a good time IMO. Games I didn't love were Gotham Knights, Far Cry & Uncharted. Please tell me you have a couple recommendations for a newb gamer who has specific tastes? I'm playing Starfield now and it's not bad. A little boring, but I do love hoarding more junk than I'll ever need. Appreciate you!!!
Hogwarts Legacy and Final Fantasy 16 were both really good action/open world games that released this year if you haven’t given those a shot
Ive gotten to the flat lanes the game is fantastic and that part you mentioned about the game hard crashed your console when you begin the game is such a big cap cause i never had that issue and if your gonna talk about frame drops i plays on a black series s and the game stays at 60fps so i mean if you gotta complain like this are you like this in every game

I spent 12 houra on thia game and rage quit last night because i was PAINFULLY bored. I realized i spent HOURS looking for seeds, plants and other fetch nonsense.. EVERY base has the same layout its all cut and paste B.S. i saw so many people pop boners over the lush jungles but after an hour it becomes obnoxious
I'm on the other end I think it's a very good game and right from 0 hours I have been enjoying it I got 87 hours in it already and I expect 87 more just running and flying around is good❤

Even if this game were good, I probably wouldn't buy it, cuz the Avatar franchise is just a straight-up thinly veiled propaganda series with precisely zero narrative depth or nuance. It's literally just humans = oppression, exploitation, and murder. Na'Vi = harmony, gentleness, community, ext. They take it to the point where a literal alien witch doctor is somehow more effective than futuristic human medics. It borders on the comedic.
There's no realism to it, no artfulness, no good character work. Just pretty lights and propagandistic messaging. I legit have no idea why people like it.

Ubisoft has been a no buy zone for me for a very long time now. This is just par for the course.
Obviously everyone cares for different things in games and less of something more other is subjective... However when you spend half time half of 45 minutes on explaining what is bad there and others don't experience it, it gets bit suspicious though
