Yes and it sucks!! I work for an organization that takes pride in promoting from within but I’ve noticed everyone getting the promotion is in their 20’s and does not have all the experience I do. I’ve actually been crossed trained in every department and usually is the first to be requested to be moved to help other departments that are short handed. Yet I wasn’t promoted to a trainer or ops mngr ( next two steps from mine). I’m not a kiss ass I just work hard and take pride in what I do. I strive for the best results

The person promoted over me sits on personal calls all day and has not worked in the field or department for over 6 years. Yes and it sucks 2. I´ve been working as tech lead for 2 years and got passed over by a colleague that I trained (my colleague also deserve the promotion, of course). This is the 5th time that THEY asked me if I'd like to get a promotion just to refuse afterwards. So frustrating. I've already decided for resignation and already stated them about this decision. I really feel no regret about it because this game is making me sick. I do have a side job and it pay my bills (without luxury). This time, my manager told me that my colleague was the chosen one because his salary is cheaper than mine and that he tried hard to hire me in first place but HR refused because there´s no budget to give me a promotion (a raise also). My manager also stated that he really appreciate my job but I feel like it´s not enough. I'm not buying the this budget history btw. I have a previous experience as instructor and I'm very appreciated in the company for training new people and I feel deep in my heart that as long as I stay is this position, I will never move up.
@@brucespzn that sounds like a very frustrating experience. I've seen where budgets have come into play, but ultimately if the company is not able to advance you and you have outgrown the role, you are going to SHINE somewhere else.
Sometimes it's the right answer, but sometimes there was a better candidate or the person was not really ready. It definitely takes a hard look within to see if it's us or them to know what to do - because you're right, if you're not appreciated for your talent and potential there are greener pastures :)

I agree I busted my ass for 2 years and I'm doing the gm position without the gm pay for over 8 months now more than being overlooked I feel they are taking advantage of me I didn't even have to look for another job my LinkedIn profile stood out so much I was offered a gm position at another company for 15000k more than what I get now also required to work less hours and I will get health insurance as well as 401 k so that package plus the salary puts me at about 75 to 80 k a yr vs the petty 55 these people give me with no benefits
Here is what it is: 3 years no promotion: get out. 5 years with no other promotion: get out. Plain and simple. This is my honest advice after 20 years in the trenches. Don’t waste your time life is really too short for all this crap
This was my thought too when I was in my 20s. But in the later 30s to mid 40s, I find that moving on, or adapting to a new job (if offered) may be easier said than done, especially in tougher economic times. I was stuck in the pandemic situation during the 3 year mark. And during that time, I could only be grateful I wasn’t one of the many being laid off or furloughed and didn’t dare crave a promotion even though I felt I deserved one. I have been with my company for almost 3 years. I have been a nurse for 9 years and dreamed of working at a place like this, so I knew this is where I wanted my career to stay. During my time here, I have seen many people get promoted. I worked very hard the last couple of year in hopes that I would have the opportunity one day. My supervisor wrote a letter of commendation to my boss’s boss earlier this year. I have trained new employees. I had an excellent job performance evaluation, and I was offered a team lead position. However, I turned the team lead role down for another role that opened up at the same time that I was more interested in. I nailed the interview, everyone seemed to like me and I liked them, and at the time I was the only applicant. More than a month goes by, and I finally am told I did not get it because I’m “not ready.” But they know I want to grow with the company, so they put me on a ‘development track’ (gave me more work to do). I just found out this week, they hired an EXTERNAL candidate who has only been a nurse for 2 years to take that position, which by the way is a trainer role. Talk about a slap in the face. I’m so angry and bitter about it, and that’s what led me to this video. I am glad I’m not alone, but it sure does hurt and now I want to leave this job that I thought was my dream. I have been applying for other jobs but not hearing back and I am just bummed.

Nine years in my position and didn't even make it to 2nd interview for a promotion despite stellar job performance reviews. There is a pension and student loan forgiveness. I'm sticking at it for one more year to get my loans forgiven. Clearly if I'm not appreciated enough to go to leadership after nine years, I'm not going to be.

I had years more experience, statewide performance that released hundreds of vulnerable inmates during COVID, drove illegal payday lenders out of the state, and got acquittals at every trial and they gave it to someone who had had one trial in her entire career and got her poor client the maximum penalty. Work night shifts for years, sacrificed my health and personal life, and… got passed over a promotion 4 times without any feedback. Sick of this bs, time to leave.
Been working at my job for almost three years, have put in a bunch of extra work (currently working with an injury for that matter) and was passed up for promotion as the ONLY person at the company who applied and as the person who would technically be considered as “next in line”. I wasn’t given any negative feedback but rather teeny tiny nitpicks that sounded like bs excuses to me. Apparently, I’m already doing a good job but just not good enough. My performance last week was the best and if I continue like that then they will “consider me next time” (when the hell is that?!) Oh and to add insult to injury, I didn’t get an interview and was passed up for an external hire who needs training when I don’t. I’m looking for other options and I don’t think I can get over this honestly.
No offense, but it's only been three years. Many people consider that to be too soon for a promotion. Keep trying and hang in there. (Edit) Privates in military get promoted after seven years. Hope that sparks some encouragement.
@@TikiFoamy38 Thanks for the reassurance. But I’m guessing military and uniformed groups seem to have a more structured career progression than other industries? Admit I, too, am losing patience after the 3-4 year mark too, but partly because the company I work for is actually capable of promoting people really quickly if they want to. I have seen newbies being promoted, and a few others being promoted 3 times a year simply because the stars were aligned (high turnover, bosses leaving, Newly created roles..etc ). Anything seems possible here, so when you are one of the few supposed high performers (at least according to performance reviews) who keep getting passed over time and again, with Management giving a million and one excuses followed by one empty promise after another….one can’t help but feel frustrated. The only consolation for which I am grateful for, is that I am still getting decent salary raises each year. Of course, that still comes with the additional leadership responsibilities and visibility, but just no higher title in sight. Hence still in a dilemma whether to seek a new job or not.
This happened to me and I quit. I was the best in our department, always doing my job right and on time. They loaded me with too much work and responsabilities unlike my other co-workers but I was still able to get everything done. They told me eventually my hard work would lead to that one promotion, so I waited patiently. Then, one day, my less qualified co-worker tells me he has been promoted over me to that position. I was already unhappy but that was the last straw for me.
Been at my Company for 12.5 yrs. Plenty of experience in each of our departments. Well respected by my peers and good communication skills. But guys who have been here less time then me get the Supervisor jobs I have told my manager that I want. This has happened more then once. It is very hard to stay positive.
My ex was a corporate big shot highly trained by the old at&t.. Well there were those she never promoted felt not qualified.. Upon later in life she met with some of those that rose to high levels in other companies.. She was shocked.. Yoou see the current company wont see your value,worth, potential but other companies want exactly what you are.. You see I was an expat overseas and the company had a repatriation seminar for both employee and spouse .. my ex was too arrogant to attend I sure did.. It was facinating.. From the mouths of experts in the field.. Your next company will want what you have.. You always and they showed the statistical datta to back it up, that you always get a better job.. They basically stated if you want a better job leave the company.. WOW that was interesting to hear. It was empowering.. Most employees just didnt get it.. I sure did.. And now you know too.....
Turned down for a promotion told i can get it in a smaller market. Turned all of their failing markets numbers from red to green. Turned around variance spending around. Told i couldnt get that job either and they gave it to someone else who didnt do shit because i wasnt 'proven enough' Im leaving.
That’s definitely their problem. They never notice the work I do or me in general. I try to talk to them and they intentionally ignore me! I can’t stay where I’m not appreciated or wanted. I’ve worked at Taco John’s for 20 years and never been trained for anything new. Plus I’ve been passed up for promotions multiple times. It’s not worth it anymore and not fair. They just don’t like me or appreciate me.
I only ever stay in data entry positions, if I try and move away from it then I get knocked back. I really don't want to do this forever but I always seem to end up in a meaningless processing role that I don't care one iota about! Masters graduate here and I may as well have left high school with no degrees and joined a supermarket chain. I hate being insignificant in a company and I hate my team, they are socially constipated and I've had to struggle to learn everything myself because nobody likes to train anyone. So frustrating!
Where I work, the Manager only praises the group, not any individual. "I only stay here because of this team". After I kept hearing the same canned "group" line, I realized she is a people hoarder. Plus, nobody advances or gets pay raises unless a better position is vacated by a quit. There is also no movement allowed between departments! A people hoarder wants to keep valuable employees strapped to a specific chair because it benefits them as a manager. Your growth is absolutely not important to them. The hard part is to recognize this situation quick, and depart. Waiting 5 years is wasted time and likely your pay is not keeping up with CPI.
Act Normal, help the other good people whom you know, mark out frenemies and feed them garbage, activate stealth mode and apply for every other position that's there. Hold your head high and walk out. Just did that.
This is such good advice. I just got passed up and they are posting to an external. I'm going feed him garbage, delay conversations, move slow and start deleting my work slowly so when I'm gone, they won't have any information from my hard work they didn't appreciate.
I never regret leaving a job. I might not like the new job but I have never had issues getting another or eventually going back to my previous employer 😊

I was promoted to the exec level. I think the belief the only way to succeed professional or financially is to become an entrepreneur is incredibly toxic and manipulative. 95% of businesses fail, and all the corporate complaints still exist when you operate a company. If entrepreneurship is where your heart is, go for it. But don't think it's the solution to your problems, and until you solve your problems they're gonna be your problems.
What if you’ve been passed up for promotions many times while the majority of people who cane in after you have been given the opportunity to move up even though they don’t get half your numbers or make twice the amount of errors you make plus your boss gives you a vague reason saying “you don’t get the bigger picture”???
If you have been repeatedly passed over, then it's worth considering if it will happen where you are at. Obviously based on one comment I won't speculate on the reason why, but if you feel like your professional growth hasn't met the standards, but you have repeatedly expressed interest this is on your manager for not supporting you. If you are more qualified and making bigger impacts either you're so good they can't promote you because it will hurt the company, your boss is scared you will be more successful and is sabotaging, or something else is at play.
But it makes quality of life better I disagree that we need to love our jobs at the end of the day jobs are just a means to a end they are tools to lighten the load of the expensive lives we may lead
I didn't even get an interview or sit down... they hired from outside and inside for a position that didn't even exist... been with the company 5 years and someone only 2 years got the position.
This is the most infuriating thing. And I've had to do it before too. Remember that the person who got it isn't at fault and do your best to not let your opinion of them be impacted. I've seen this with colleagues and even a couple clients in the past, and they ended up having great and even career changing relationships with the person who got the promo. Think of it this way: they have a skill that exceeds even your awesomeness (which is pretty great!). There may be something you can learn from them. If they have the power to make future promo decision about you this is even more important. Most importantly, it's ok to not be excited to train them. It's ok to be pissed about it. Just do your best to keep the above in mind, it will bring you better returns in future. And if you ever need a pep talk, just drop a comment. I'm here for you friend 🥰
That very thing happened to me. The difference being i helped train him, and after he was promoted he occasionally came to me for advice! How's that for taking the piss!
hahahhaha, i'd laugh or make an excuse not to train them, be busy on other things, use your sick days and vacation days til you leave. and i had perfect attendance all year.
If it's the first promotion you applied for, take it as a learning opportunity. If you've been passed over multiple times, you may need to solicit some feedback from an unbiased party who knows your work. Good video.

Nick Amaro if you’ve been rejected many times for promotion it may not be you but them, you’re stuck at a ceiling for which they don’t intend to move you any where, in those instances the path has been made for you - leave.

That's super true. Just because you got passed off for the promotion now, doesn't mean you're not bound for an even more successful promotion in the near future :)
would you take an ex back who didn't see your value the first time? they don't have a bigger plan for you, they make a choice and want you to think you're special by dangling the carrot and the next time they get it right with you but most of us are salty by then like naw hell naw im not second best.

thank you for this! I recently talked to my boss about being a lead & she told me she had already hired someone new for it, so I accepted & moved on. But, I hear around my office that a coworker who is less qualified than me is being trained for the position, my boss who I usually work with everyday has been MIA- literally dodging me.
I decided to move on as I was already unhappy where I was before. It was hard to keep my emotions in check and I found a role where there’s a lot to learn. My biggest fear was that my skills would stagnate and would’ve been useless if I stayed, so I am confident that I made the right decision at the right time. I also got the promotion I wanted to a more senior position as well, as a second line IT support technician where in my previous role, I was doing first and second line duties, and this really started to hurt my chances to move up as I was the jack of all trades and master of none. What this told employers subconsciously was that I didn’t know which direction I wanted to take my career.
Jennifer Brick, I made the jump at the start of April and handed in my resignation, and I found my next role just after my previous one ended as I was looking before and during the time I handed in my notice.
I just got passed up for a promotion that i deserved. 13 years of experience and they posted the job externally, now I'm in a dead in job. I'm going to slowly start deleting my files from our shared database so when I'm gone, they won't have any info of what I did. I'm also go to change names of key contacts of the process owners for various jobs so they will be all confused and be sending pointless emails to the wrong people to collect documentation. They didn't appreciate my work, so they won't have to refer back to after I'm gone. Treat employees fairly and when they leave, they will ensure they leave you with all the information you need to move forward. Screw them over and they will leave you with more headaches then you can even imagine.
I agree mostly with these points. I have been with the same company for 13 years. I started when I was 21, so I was not interested in moving up for a long time. The past 3-4 years though I have been working extensively trying to move up. I had 6 interviews and kept getting turned down. I was at my wits end this year. I told myself with my last interview if I didn't get it I was going to go elsewhere. I started to send out tons of resumes, I was chatting with friends at other companies asking about their jobs and any openings they may have. Suddenly, there was a mass restructuring in my company which later caused new job openings. I applied for one last month and was offered the job! This is a role I think I would be most content at compared to the others I applied for and it came at exactly the right time. Looking back some of the roles I thought I wanted may not have been the best fit. I believe if you thoroughly examine your skills and abilities and put things into motion, something will come up whether it's at your current job or elsewhere.

Being passed over is very telling. If you get passed over then move on. If you stay to try again then you look desperate which means if you finally get the promotion then you will be low balled

Never called in sick, until now agter 5 years, work my but off, always help, other trams know me and come for help to me as well as all new hires, ams still nothing. I wish I got paid for professional development. I feel like that companys that do this really care about staying up to date with the business world. I know a business that has a meeting for 15min morning training there employees. Its always good to sharpen the saw :)
It's such a mixed bag, I've worked with companies who provided professional development budgets for everyone... and the opposite. Even just having those 15 minutes to dedicate to ongoing learning has so many benefits. Like you said, it keeps that saw sharp!
Hi while I respect this video for your ideas for growth and promotion in a job, I think you should stop with the sexism against women. Sexism can happen to both men and women. I am a male in a female dominated career (healthcare) and the gender bias (or what I perceive it to be) is just as bad for men. Female bosses often “shit on” male employees just as bad for whatever reason.

I had years more experience, statewide performance that released hundreds of vulnerable inmates during COVID, drove illegal payday lenders out of the state, and got acquittals at every trial and they gave it to someone who had had one trial in her entire career and got her poor client the maximum penalty. Been working at my job for almost three years, have put in a bunch of extra work (currently working with an injury for that matter) and was passed up for promotion as the ONLY person at the company who applied and as the person who would technically be considered as “next in line”. I wasn’t given any negative feedback but rather teeny tiny nitpicks that sounded like bs excuses to me.
Apparently, I’m already doing a good job but just not good enough. My performance last week was the best and if I continue like that then they will “consider me next time” (when the hell is that?!)
Oh and to add insult to injury, I didn’t get an interview and was passed up for an external hire who needs training when I don’t. I’m looking for other options and I don’t think I can get over this honestly.

@@TikiFoamy38 Thanks for the reassurance. But I’m guessing military and uniformed groups seem to have a more structured career progression than other industries? Admit I, too, am losing patience after the 3-4 year mark too, but partly because the company I work for is actually capable of promoting people really quickly if they want to. I have seen newbies being promoted, and a few others being promoted 3 times a year simply because the stars were aligned (high turnover, bosses leaving, Newly created roles..etc ). Anything seems possible here, so when you are one of the few supposed high performers (at least according to performance reviews) who keep getting passed over time and again, with Management giving a million and one excuses followed by one empty promise after another….one can’t help but feel frustrated.
The only consolation for which I am grateful for, is that I am still getting decent salary raises each year. Of course, that still comes with the additional leadership responsibilities and visibility, but just no higher title in sight. Hence still in a dilemma whether to seek a new job or not.

I quit my position because I trained a new hired and they prompted him and not me... so why would I stay with a company like that.
This happened to me and I quit. I was the best in our department, always doing my job right and on time. They loaded me with too much work and responsabilities unlike my other co-workers but I was still able to get everything done. They told me eventually my hard work would lead to that one promotion, so I waited patiently. Then, one day, my less qualified co-worker tells me he has been promoted over me to that position. I was already unhappy but that was the last straw for me.
Great advice; best to stay focused on your goals rather than being emotional.
There are so many emotions when you don't get the promotion...but to make a clear decision you need to process them before acting.
Been at my Company for 12.5 yrs. Plenty of experience in each of our departments. Well respected by my peers and good communication skills. But guys who have been here less time then me get the Supervisor jobs I have told my manager that I want. This has happened more then once. It is very hard to stay positive.

My ex was a corporate big shot highly trained by the old at&t.. Well there were those she never promoted felt not qualified.. Upon later in life she met with some of those that rose to high levels in other companies.. She was shocked.. Yoou see the current company wont see your value,worth, potential but other companies want exactly what you are.. You see I was an expat overseas and the company had a repatriation seminar for both employee and spouse .. my ex was too arrogant to attend I sure did.. It was facinating.. From the mouths of experts in the field.. Your next company will want what you have.. You always and they showed the statistical datta to back it up, that you always get a better job.. They basically stated if you want a better job leave the company.. WOW that was interesting to hear. It was empowering.. Most employees just didnt get it.. I sure did.. And now you know too.....
Turned down for a promotion told i can get it in a smaller market. Turned all of their failing markets numbers from red to green. Turned around variance spending around. Told i couldnt get that job either and they gave it to someone else who didnt do shit because i wasnt 'proven enough'

That’s definitely their problem. They never notice the work I do or me in general. I try to talk to them and they intentionally ignore me! I can’t stay where I’m not appreciated or wanted. I’ve worked at Taco John’s for 20 years and never been trained for anything new. Plus I’ve been passed up for promotions multiple times. It’s not worth it anymore and not fair. They just don’t like me or appreciate me.

I only ever stay in data entry positions, if I try and move away from it then I get knocked back. I really don't want to do this forever but I always seem to end up in a meaningless processing role that I don't care one iota about!
Masters graduate here and I may as well have left high school with no degrees and joined a supermarket chain. I hate being insignificant in a company and I hate my team, they are socially constipated and I've had to struggle to learn everything myself because nobody likes to train anyone. So frustrating!
I'm going to keep it real here... companies helping people after they've been rejected is a rare event.
Where I work, the Manager only praises the group, not any individual. "I only stay here because of this team". After I kept hearing the same canned "group" line, I realized she is a people hoarder. Plus, nobody advances or gets pay raises unless a better position is vacated by a quit. There is also no movement allowed between departments! A people hoarder wants to keep valuable employees strapped to a specific chair because it benefits them as a manager. Your growth is absolutely not important to them. The hard part is to recognize this situation quick, and depart. Waiting 5 years is wasted time and likely your pay is not keeping up with CPI.
Act Normal, help the other good people whom you know, mark out frenemies and feed them garbage, activate stealth mode and apply for every other position that's there. Hold your head high and walk out. Just did that.
This is such good advice. I just got passed up and they are posting to an external. I'm going feed him garbage, delay conversations, move slow and start deleting my work slowly so when I'm gone, they won't have any information from my hard work they didn't appreciate.
I never regret leaving a job. I might not like the new job but I have never had issues getting another or eventually going back to my previous employer 😊

95% of businesses fail, and all the corporate complaints still exist when you operate a company.
If entrepreneurship is where your heart is, go for it.

What if you’ve been passed up for promotions many times while the majority of people who cane in after you have been given the opportunity to move up even though they don’t get half your numbers or make twice the amount of errors you make plus your boss gives you a vague reason saying “you don’t get the bigger picture”???
If you have been repeatedly passed over, then it's worth considering if it will happen where you are at. Obviously based on one comment I won't speculate on the reason why, but if you feel like your professional growth hasn't met the standards, but you have repeatedly expressed interest this is on your manager for not supporting you. If you are more qualified and making bigger impacts either you're so good they can't promote you because it will hurt the company, your boss is scared you will be more successful and is sabotaging, or something else is at play.

I didn't even get an interview or sit down... they hired from outside and inside for a position that didn't even exist... been with the company 5 years and someone only 2 years got the position.
What if you were passed over the promotion but were expected to train the person who got the position over you?
This is the most infuriating thing.
And I've had to do it before too. Remember that the person who got it isn't at fault and do your best to not let your opinion of them be impacted. I've seen this with colleagues and even a couple clients in the past, and they ended up having great and even career changing relationships with the person who got the promo. Think of it this way: they have a skill that exceeds even your awesomeness (which is pretty great!). There may be something you can learn from them.
If they have the power to make future promo decision about you this is even more important.
Most importantly, it's ok to not be excited to train them. It's ok to be pissed about it. Just do your best to keep the above in mind, it will bring you better returns in future.

That very thing happened to me. The difference being i helped train him, and after he was promoted he occasionally came to me for advice! How's that for taking the piss!

hahahhaha, i'd laugh or make an excuse not to train them, be busy on other things, use your sick days and vacation days til you leave. and i had perfect attendance all year.
If it's the first promotion you applied for, take it as a learning opportunity. If you've been passed over multiple times, you may need to solicit some feedback from an unbiased party who knows your work. Good video.

Nick Amaro if you’ve been rejected many times for promotion it may not be you but them, you’re stuck at a ceiling for which they don’t intend to move you any where, in those instances the path has been made for you - leave.

But, I hear around my office that a coworker who is less qualified than me is being trained for the position, my boss who I usually work with everyday has been MIA- literally dodging me.

I decided to move on as I was already unhappy where I was before. It was hard to keep my emotions in check and I found a role where there’s a lot to learn. My biggest fear was that my skills would stagnate and would’ve been useless if I stayed, so I am confident that I made the right decision at the right time.
I also got the promotion I wanted to a more senior position as well, as a second line IT support technician where in my previous role, I was doing first and second line duties, and this really started to hurt my chances to move up as I was the jack of all trades and master of none. What this told employers subconsciously was that I didn’t know which direction I wanted to take my career.

Jennifer Brick, I made the jump at the start of April and handed in my resignation, and I found my next role just after my previous one ended as I was looking before and during the time I handed in my notice.
I’m trying to go but, I left my run late I’m 49 and logged 15 years with a company that sees no future in me.
I just got passed up for a promotion that i deserved. 13 years of experience and they posted the job externally, now I'm in a dead in job. I'm going to slowly start deleting my files from our shared database so when I'm gone, they won't have any info of what I did. I'm also go to change names of key contacts of the process owners for various jobs so they will be all confused and be sending pointless emails to the wrong people to collect documentation. They didn't appreciate my work, so they won't have to refer back to after I'm gone. Treat employees fairly and when they leave, they will ensure they leave you with all the information you need to move forward. Screw them over and they will leave you with more headaches then you can even imagine.
I agree mostly with these points. I have been with the same company for 13 years. I started when I was 21, so I was not interested in moving up for a long time. The past 3-4 years though I have been working extensively trying to move up. I had 6 interviews and kept getting turned down. I was at my wits end this year. I told myself with my last interview if I didn't get it I was going to go elsewhere. I started to send out tons of resumes, I was chatting with friends at other companies asking about their jobs and any openings they may have.
Suddenly, there was a mass restructuring in my company which later caused new job openings. I applied for one last month and was offered the job! This is a role I think I would be most content at compared to the others I applied for and it came at exactly the right time. Looking back some of the roles I thought I wanted may not have been the best fit. I believe if you thoroughly examine your skills and abilities and put things into motion, something will come up whether it's at your current job or elsewhere.
I love this Courtney. And I think you're bang on, the right opportunity will appear. It's hard when you feel ready for the next step to wait for it, but really it all works out in the end.

What if you created a entire Data Science division from the ground up with the intention to being promoted to the head of data science. But instead they took the whole thing away, took full credit for it, hired someone else to take lead on it over you, and you are stuck just doing the maintenance on the system you created from scratch.

Being passed over is very telling. If you get passed over then move on. If you stay to try again then you look desperate which means if you finally get the promotion then you will be low balled

I personally feel there no growth in my current department but I asked my manager ask for internal job transfer. He was unhappy and put a black mark on my staff performance.
I reported to director about my manager but good thing is that my director helped me to ask manager to rewrite my staff performance.

It's such a mixed bag, I've worked with companies who provided professional development budgets for everyone... and the opposite.
Even just having those 15 minutes to dedicate to ongoing learning has so many benefits. Like you said, it keeps that saw sharp!

Hi while I respect this video for your ideas for growth and promotion in a job, I think you should stop with the sexism against women. Sexism can happen to both men and women. I am a male in a female dominated career (healthcare) and the gender bias (or what I perceive it to be) is just as bad for men. Female bosses often “shit on” male employees just as bad for whatever reason.
