I understand a lot of people like it I just can't understand why and I give my SCREAM TV Series spoiler review here. The Ghostface mask is different? Ok, fine. It looks kind of cool actually (Although I prefer the original Scream Ghostface mask. But the characters in the Scream TV Series Season 1 are all cardboard cutouts that don't deserve to be in the Scream Franchise. The Ghostface voice is awful and the writing is horrendous. I may be in the minority but I actually liked scream season 1 and season 2. Season 3 was terrible tho
I like all of them. Rip. I was so sad when it got cancelled after Season 2.

I know! I always believed it was Emma's dad and that Brandon James never committed the murders in the first place.

there is still a possibility that they could finish it off, or give a conclusion or something like that in a post or new tv show near the future in my opinion i would prefer they make at least one more season of the brandon james story just to clear things up if they can
did it end on a cliffhanger tho? the only loose end was Kieran's killer who was pretty obviously Kevin Duval, the original lakewood slasher

The fact this show couldn't even afford the licensing for the proper scream mask was quite telling of how much of a budget mtv gave this. i remeber in the build up to the series and how everyone saw the mask and was calling him Sexface or other terms, it was probably their worst decision as it made it quite clear that mtv wasn't willing to give this series the money OR the budget to make a good series. And that is quite obvious with the writing.

They could afford it but they wanted to do something different and not be another Scream movie repeat lol. The mask itself is a mix of the Michael Myers and Ghostface mask, fun fact. To me the MTV Show mask is scarier than Ghostface. I loved the show and prefer it over Scream 2, 3, & 5. The writing was PERFECTION in those first two seasons and the third season wasn't even bad either. Beth won me over :D and that actress is so good. Over the years more and more people started watching it and talking about it. The show is the reason why Noah is my favorite out of the whole franchise. The show did more with The Expert than the movies did with Randy lol. Season 2 also does something completely different and paints the target being Audrey and the callbacks the show gives the movies are chills. Emma goes through so much more hell than Sidney too and the way it fucks with her mentality, Willa is such a great actress when it comes to that. The show was always going to be in it's own universe and gave an origin story to the mask. The movies never gave an origin story to the Ghostface mask. I would go as far as saying even Season 3 gave an origin story to the Ghostface mask. I get why some would hate on the show, but to me when this show aired after the movies disappointed me the show won my love for the franchise back.

Everything was cheapened. Even the KNIFE wasn’t 120 special. It was a smaller 119. The kills lacked any practical effects.
Lack of budget for the OG mask is not the issue to me.
Season 3 was a proof that OG mask and the voice don't make Scream good by default, it was ever worse than Season 1.
To me problem with tv series was the fact it was so massively watered down with low quality boring drama and tearful tunes commercials ;)
It felt like Dawson's Creek wanna be show.
It didn't worked for me, it felt too streched.
But I've seen many good opinions about it from youger aufiences, so maybe I was no longer a target.
On the other hand new Scream movies (6 especially also have some soap operish drama to it and I enjoyed it).
I gave up on tv series after epsiodes 1 season 2, I found it so boring.

I was obsessed w/ the show when it was on air. I was so Mad when it was rebooted and canceled w out knowing what really happened at the end of season 2, hate cliff hangers when there’s no guarantee of having another season

The kills in the show are far better than most of the kills in the movies

Just to name a few that come to mind....Brett's death, Wills death, Jake's death are all 3 easily better than most kills in anything related to Scream.
I'm not saying that the show is nearly as good as the movies... not even close. But for anyone to say there a complete pile of hot garbage with nothing redeeming about them is not something I agree with.

If it’s any consolation, there was an interview with the original show runners that from last year. They said for their plans going into season 3 and 4 were that Kieran didn’t die at the end of S2. Kieran would’ve escaped from his holding cell and a new cycle of killings would begin. Emma is out trying to distance herself from the Lakewood 6, Noah and Brooke are slowly losing their minds in different ways. Noah seeing visions of Zoe and Brooke acting out even more, and starting a fling with Audrey. The killings get closer and the main 6 start to point at each other again. Emma gets pulled back in the situation to help - very similar to Sidney’s situation in Scream 3. Eventually, most of the main cast gets killed (Maggie, Brooke, Audrey, Sheriff Acosta, Stavo) down to just Noah, Emma, and Kieran. Kieran kills Noah but Emma gets the drop on Kieran and ends up cutting his throat. The camera pulls back to a cast and crew on a set and a director yells cut. Amadeus Serafini (Kieran) gets up off the floor and wipes the fake blood off his throat. It is revealed that all of the events of the show we have witnessed were actually a television show in that world. “The Scream TV Series”. All the actors hug and then a wrap-party is mentioned. Then as the actor for Kieran walks into his dressing room, he is attacked by someone wearing an actual Scream (movie) Ghost-Face costume and has his throat cut (for real this time) and then that season would end.
The 4th season would continue this approach. Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus and John Karna (Emma, Audrey, and Noah) all reflect a real life version of the Lakewood 6 in their world - the story of which was stolen and woven into a TV series by a desperate writer.” A killer in an original Ghostface mask, obsessed with the actual Scream franchise we as fans know, would begin attacking various folks involved in the entire “Scream entertainment universe”, whether they’re writers, directors, producers, actors, etc.
This would have opened the door for actors from the original film franchise to make appearances on the show, guest starring as themselves…all as the cast of the Scream TV series would be attempting to determine who is behind this slate of real life murders as the body count continues to rise. The idea was to blow the walls off the television show and make it go super-meta. The whole idea of the S3 ending was that the camera would pull out and then all of the Scream universe, our universe - the actual actors from those films, and the writers, the producers, and the crew who had made the original Scream movies - were available to the story. The killer would have been someone who was obsessed with Scream who was stalking the cast.

I was depressed af in the Marine Corps when I stumbled across Scream seasons 1 and 2 in 2016. I absolutely loved it because it took me away from a bad time in my life to where I did “find joy in it” as you respectfully stated. Acting sucked and it was cheesy but I was so thoroughly entertained.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by season 1 and two. they weren't perfect by any means and the script was weak at some points, but for an MTV show, I had a lot of fun watching it.
I remember watching the first two seasons about two, three years ago? Season one was particularly rough, I felt it focused too much on the teen ‘drama’- the painful love triangle, the stereotypical characters that the writers did nothing special with, the awful dialogue. It was kind of a chore.
Season two felt better, I won’t lie. In my memory, they actually focused more on the whodunnit murder mystery, and the horror aspect of Scream, a lot more. I wouldn’t say it was good but it wasn’t kind of terrible like season one was.
Son said it focused too much on teen drama like it’s not about teenage high school kids wtf is wrong with people do y’all not think like at all….and how was this stereotypical when it’s literally different from all the other screams which have the same rinse and repeat story line lmao I’m convinced y’all watch with ur eyes closed and ears tuned to something else bc all characters got development😂😂lmao season 1 wasn’t terrible y’all cry for no reason
@@Escobarjah38. Focusing on teenage high school kids doesn't mean it has to devolve into shitty young adult novel, Riverdale bullshit that's just embarrassing to watch. The characters being stereotypical has nothing to do with the rest of the Scream franchise- these characters are boring and have nothing else to them than basic character traits that can describe hundreds of other characters in fiction.
The movies have the issue of being a little too repetitive but they have likable characters you care about throughout. The series has nothing, absolutely nothing. No interesting story threads, no unique or fun characters, nothing. You can say characters got development but when it's the most basic, '14 year old's first story' shit and it isn't interesting in the slightest, or it's being done with characters who are just painful to watch, then what does it matter?

I'm usually on the same wavelength with you on movies and shows that you review and talk about, but I really enjoyed this show. Especially the first season. Should it have been called "Scream"? Probably not. But I still liked it. Still enjoyed the video, though.
Love your brutal honesty. If nothing else I got to love that you enjoyed Brooke’s character because she’s definitely the breakout character on the show. Everyone else is extremely wooden and one note for sure. I think the show took more chances in season 2 and gave the characters more to work with so season 2 is definitely an upgrade. Just the killer reveal alone is leagues better in my opinion. The killer reveal almost made me drop the show in season 1.

ong seasons 1 killer reveal is by far one of my least favourite scream moments in general, not only did they just steal the plot from scream 3 (which wasn't a good plot in the first place), they made her act so goofy the second she took off the mask
I'm not a fan of Season 1 at all, couple moments I liked but not enough. HOWEVER, I thought Season 2 was a big improvement. I actually enjoyed that season overall (once you get past the consistent flaws with Season 1). Characters I didn't like in Season 1, I ended up liking more in Season 2. (Like Brook for example, she's one of my favorites now and I couldn't stand her in Season 1)
And then Season 3...that happened. But at least we have Roger Jackson back and the OG mask back. And Tony Todd...
I do like Audrey though... But that could be due to me liking her character on Arrow before this show happened.
I'm really hoping Season 2 gets better!

I watched the first season and enjoyed it for Scream content. I liked the diverse kills and not always stabby stab. But I agree with everything you said. I wasn’t drawn in enough to want to start the others seasons, esp. after hearing they went a new route with season 3. Might come back to them one day but eh.. 🤷♂️ Love hearing your thoughts on them though regardless! Great video!

Well... This was a decent show. The I Know What You Did Last Summer show, however, was truly dire and I wish it had never been made.

OH HELL YEAH HERE FOR THE JAKE & BROOKE LOVE! I really did love the show the first two seasons were good af in my opinion, i loved the kills, the mask and i LOVED piper as the killer she was a great killer and villain. However i can 100% GENUINELY understand why people and especially scream fans would dislike / hate the show. The writing wasn’t the best at all and sometimes the acting wasn’t the best but overall i enjoyed it!
When 'Ghostface' said the line to the lead girl Emma, "It's what you want, right? With your Instagram and Facebook" I knew this was gonna be absolute shitsville. So, I changed my expectation and watched it for laughs and bad acting.
I thought the show was pretty good for what it was. Especially season 2. Considering that, to this day, there's only been like twelve hours of Scream movie content, the show as a nice addition. It kept enough of the tropes, but switched things up where it needed to. Also the characters actually felt like high schoolers. Some of the deaths were pretty shocking for Mtv. The material was pretty tough to adapt for a Tv series...but I appreciate the effort. Better than I thought it would be.
Piper Shaw being the killer in season 1 is so obvious & having Kieran be Piper Shaw's accomplice in season 2 until another Ghostface killed him at prison or whatever is so stupid & makes no sense.
The Scream TV Series was amazing and it has a cult following. I hope Paramount brings it back at some point.

I, on the other hand, me and my children loved the first two seasons. But we did not even bother with the third season. I mean, really, what was that all about.
i liked it okay but agree it wasn't on the same level as the movies for sure. but scream resurrection makes these two seasons look like a masterpiece. so its can only get worse
AAAHHHH my favorite cringe watch is being discussed. Yes the dialogue was awful, so were most of the characters and it was VERY soap opera - egde lord - made for a bunch of fourteen years old.But that was also the charm of it. My personal favorite part of this entire mess was the Brandon James storyline, for me it was the only redeeming quality of the show.

I remember the first 2 series often went 3-4 episodes in a row without a single kill, no chase scenes, main characters had way too much plot armor and in general it was just a boring show with no good characters (other than Emma who was ok). I really enjoyed the rebooted 3rd season but for some reason that one was hated. Always found that strange.
season one was alright but season two was wayyyy better. last episode felt like it was just kinda thrown in there tho
I can't believe that you didn't mention the absurdity of the killer being a 110lb woman...
The Podcaster being the killer was totally possible as long as ghost-face didn't do anything overly physical. But, that became impossible when GF killed Rachel. That girl was easily 70-80lbs, and GF hoisted her over a banister, and then subsequently hoisted her lifeless body, and 10ft of rope back up the banister, so that GF could hang her from her ceiling fan. NOT POSSIBLE!
Also, Will tackled this chick. You'd think he would have noticed that he was tackling a chick. Slender frame; boobs. Lol He's like 210lbs of muscle. She would have felt like a feather to him. He would have had no trouble overpowering her. Ridiculous.
i love different types of killing in the show , in movies is all just stab stab stab - (except garage kill in original) , in season 2 killings are even more brutal
I actually think a scream show can work but it has to be high budget with competent actors and the real mask! Scream 6 would've made a great show. Imagine a few episodes with the scream killers trying to kill our heroes and then mid season you get a twist with real ghostface killing the rookie ghostface. Could work

I absolutely loved season one and two. I definitely liked it way better than all of the Scream sequels. Noah was way better as a Randy wannabe then Mindy. I liked the character of Audry (really loved her in The Killing too). I enjoyed that it wasn't a Scream copycat.

personally i found season 2 to be better by miles, mask looked a lot better and the plot was way more interesting

In 2020 when I was laid off from my job for two months I binged the series I enjoyed all three seasons despite its flaws I thought the kills were pretty good but the films are superior
I didn't super mind the new take... but season 3 jumped the shark hard. I liked how they were trying to do a new thing.
MTV mask reminds me of the real life scream murders of 2006 with Casey when she was housesitting her uncle house and to teens wearing white mask killed her..
Is this wasn't called scream it at least could've finished up and wrap up the original story with season 3 instead of getting rebooted. 😭 I was so mad when I found out they dropped original cast cause I've grown fond of Brooke, Jake and Kieran's cousin. And I really wanted them to conclude the Brandon James story..

Wow! I saw Season 1 when it first came out and then rewatched it 2 years later. You are spot-on! I totally remember the lines and the scenes for some reason lol. Emma was the worst "final girl". She had as much energy as a dead fish. The writing was bad and I wish that they would have had more kills. I don't remember how many episodes there were were NOTHING happened lol. I"m all about building a mystery and all but this is based on a slasher film/series.

I’ve found that if you don’t think of this as scream then it’s actually quite good, not amazing as the writing actually kinda sucks but you appreciate things kind of like the mask more.
I personally disagree, as the writings still weak and the characters are poorly handled.
Also some weird incest stuff in Season 2, cannot forget that shit.

I remember liking the first 4 episodes enough to watch all the scream movies and now am a huge fan.
Season 2 was a huge improvement imho, character development is better and stakes were higher.
Season 1 was okay. Season 2 was horrible. Season 3 had potential to be great but was rushed however is a fun watch if people have it a chance all the way through. And the mask looks like a bondage sex mask.
Scares me deeply to hear Season 2 is worse!
@@WeWatchedAMovieYeah lots of plot hole that go nowhere and very derivative however the kills are great but the cringe is worse. Season 3 is closer to scream in Atlanta urban setting but everyone says it’s shitty and hasn’t even gave it a chance.
As a massive scream fan i watched this recently and hated season 1 really liked season 2 but that’s when I separated the 2 and saw it as just a cheesy fun watch and was really disappointed to find it was canceled for S3.
They did do Season 3. But, with completely new characters. It was canceled for season 4.

I remember when this show premiered I was out of town with my brother and some friends at a hotel in Dallas, TX and my brother got a crazy booze fueled idea that we needed to watch it. He called the front desk to ask if they had MTV because we couldn't find it on the television. I remember we joked 'is this probably the first time in 20 years the hotel desk has gotten a call asking if they have MTV?' I think this was like 2014 or something.

Honestly at the time i enjoyed it alot. It was a fun series. But, i do think it's forgettable. I struggle to even remember the names. I only remember the opening of the pilot and the barn scene.
I recognised how terrible written and acted this show was…… but damn it its such a guilty pleasure of mine. Not season 3 though, that season was irredeemably terrifying

Tbh I really like it. If you watch it at face value thinking of it as a murder mystery instead of “Scream” I find that adds to the enjoyment.

I loved the show. Wes was involved before he passed, the writing was aight, but I enjoyed it and was upset it didn’t get a proper conclusion but a movie that went straight to Netflix.
I’m always here for the content and love hearing differing opinions, but I really liked the first two seasons. I fully understand it’s not as amazing as the film franchise is at times, but it’s fun in its own way.

Season 1 was a drag in every department but was okay. I really enjoyed season 2 though. It did improve massively. Brooke was a great character. A 3rd and final season really should have happened. Not the actual 3rd.

I liked Seasons 1 and 2!! Still wish they would've continued with seasons 3 and 4, and see what they wanted to do play out 😂
The Oh face joke caught me off guard 😂😂😂, love Office Space., also I actually really like Scream Season 1 and Season 2 and I haven't seen Season 3 but what I've heard it's terrible
I remember reading about their plan for a season 3 and it sounded definitely like an idea. It'd pick up right after 2 ends and they'd reveal this has all ben a tv show within a tv show and the characters are all actors that would start getting picked off by real Ghostface and there were even ideas to get the movie actors to try and show up to play themselves.
I actually liked the series and appreciated the new mask.
please give it a chance and finish the second season!!! the second season is my favorite between the two and is much more brutal. you can watch the “third” season but it is not good like at all besides some of the kills i guess. it has the ghost face mask back which is the only plus side i guess, but it almost looked like they use the generic fun world masks you can buy from party city or something

I don't really like the show. But that theme song slaps. I can listen to that on loop. That alone made its existence worth it. haha
