I loved 4, I thought Jill was a nice twist and I liked that Wes said he had her shot in the stomache so he could bring her back later if he wanted to. Cody Leach had an awesome idea of Jill's plan actually succeeding and the movie ending with Sid in the hospital, health up in the air. Would have been cool to see a villian "win" and set up the next movie
Jill's motive is actually my favorite. I fell that in this franchise shallow motives like this are more scary. It shows the depths of the absolute lack of empathy that person had. Also points for the surprise twist about the killer wanting to become the final girl this time.
Despite its many glaring flaws and inconsistencies Scream 3 is a genuinely entertaining movie. I have watched it several times and I enjoy it every time. I have never been able to rank the sequels. They all have strengths and weaknesses and I enjoy each them for different reasons.
I still think Scream 4 is underrated. Concerning the original opening kill it was supposed to be fake out meta kill, fake out meta kill and then when the kill actual happens the character doesn’t believe it thinking it’s a joke slowly realizing she just watched her best friend get murdered in front of her. Very ambitious. Which is why the fucking Weinsteins it changed to a very generic run of mill kill.
Very underrated! It's also a faux "requel" before "requels" where a thing. It pretends to pass the torch and surprises us by going back and drawing a line. That for me is the most genius twist in the franchise so far. And the comedy is top notch. Scream has always been about this perfect blend of horror and comedy.

Used to dislike Scream 3 but watched it last year for the first time in well over a decade and LOVED it! Fun as hell with some great performances, particularly Parker Posey!
Parker Posey imitating Gale to Gale's face is gold! Also, 3 was the only Scream movie to kill a very important, already stablished character in the opening kill. All other films kill some new face just to get us in the mood, 3 kills freakin Cotton Weary! It opens with a real bang.
I did too until Kyle Gallner got the weakest kill of the entire franchise and just wasted his character who had serious promise. Third best new character of the film and he was barely in it. I was so pissed he got wasted.
Jill's my favorite killer! She had me completely fooled, especially compared to Scream 2 & 3, which I felt kept their cards too close to their chest. She's the most evil killer out of all them for having her mom killed, I love her speech predicting the future of social media, her motive makes the most sense compared to other killers, and if you don't find her believable enough as the killers, it's very she likely she had Charlie do all the killings for her.

Love your videos man! I would rank them: 1. Scream (10/10 - my favourite horror movie, one of the first horrors I had ever seen at 6 years old) 2. Scream 2 (9/10 - As a kid I was so scared in the cop car scene - till this day my favourite scare scene of the franchise. I don't particularly like the killer reveals and the 3rd act drama set, but Mickey was a fun character and there were just so many stand out moments in the film) 3. Scream 4 (9/10 - Very close to overtaking Scream 2. Jill's killer motive was amazing! I wish they left in the deleted scenes of the teen cast at the water fountain talking about the killings and the scene at the hospital between Jill and Trevor - all this movie needed was a tad longer with the new cast) 4. Scream 5 (8/10 - Loved this new edition. Didn't like the critics hyping this movie as 'being the best since the original' left me a little disappointed as I would have loved putting this movie in 2nd place. It's hard because I was annoyed that Sidney & Gale took such a back seat in this movie, but on the flip side I didn't want them to have go through anymore Ghostface shit. If they make another movie they just need to leave them out of it somehow. Perhaps Sidney just makes a cameo on the phone saying "Deal with it your fucking self, I've got my own shit going on" with her kids in the background fighting over a poptart) 5. Scream 3 (7/10 - The most fun entry of the franchise. After re-watching this movie recently it was so ironic that this was produced by the Weinsteins, way ahead of its time with the 'casting couch' backstory. but hated how Roman's killer reveal undermined the killer reveals in the first movie). For me with this new edition - Scream has now surpassed Nightmare on Elm street as my favourite horror franchise. Just can't deny the consistency and overall quality of the Scream movies!
Most definitely.. I thought it would of been more believable for Judy to be Ghostface, as she's a strong women with plenty of experience and could have used her tactical training. I thought she could have slept with Billy in high school and Wes to be billys son, which would also have made more sense. Or... they should have used the original script to Scream 3, which would have paid more respect to Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson. The script entailed of Stu orchestrating some of the events from prison and then escaping. Imagine Stu orchestrating everything in 5 and then escaping prison and killing Dewey in a sequel? It would have been more believable and having two legacy characters fight it out would have been amazing.
Yeah I was a little disappointed before watching it hearing that stu wasn’t in it but I feel like that’s why some people hate it because of expectations. When I just understood it was another scream movie I watched it and liked it a lot for what it is.
The way you feel about Dewey dying in scream 5 is how I feel about Randy in 2... Randy was my favorite character and my 11 year old self saw him die in theater... off screen I might add. At least Dewey went out as a fighter in basically the best kill in the franchise. Poor Randy got jumped.
Just rewatched the other 4 movies after seeing 5. My current ranking is 1. Scream 1996 2. Scream 2022 3. Scream 2 4. Scream 3 5. Scream 4. I could flip flop between 2 and 22 and 3 and 4 as well but it comes down to 2 things for me. I didn't feel like the killers in 2 got enough room to menace the audience after the reveal. I wasn't scared after the reveal I just wanted to see them get killed which I didn't in 22. And 3 has an incredible rewatch value whereas 4 kind of feels a bit hollow.

None of the new characters come even close to being as good or great as Kirby or Jill. None! Both Richie and Amber are the two worst killers of the franchise. For the life of me I can't take either one seriously. They're above Charlie only. Even Roman is above both of them and their motive is stupid as hell. Also they wasted Kyle Gallner, they killed Dewey after everything he's been through, Sidney is barely in the movie and I just don't see how it's better than Scream 4. I don't even like Sam. I like Tara and Mindy. Those are the only two characters I found even remotely interesting outside of Kyle Gallner who they completely wasted. Scream 4 has the smartest plan. Jill was so damn close to getting away with everything until she slipped up once by letting it slip she knew Gale got stabbed. Everything else she did and planned she executed brilliantly. There's a part of me that feels compelled to even put Scream 3 ahead of Scream 5 because of how ahead of its time it is and how it basically was letting it be known who Weinstein was right in his own produced movie laughing at us like look what I have been doing and it's right in front of you and there's nothing you can do about it. Scream 3 is by far one of the most controversial movies to watch now because of that. It's super hard to see that all the way back in 2000 and knowing it would take 17 years for everything to come out. I love Parker Posey as the actress playing Gale. She is hands down the best part about the movie. I wish they didn't kill her off.
Scream 3 is my second favourite out of the franchise because... Romans originality by using a voice changer to manipulate situations and using secret passages throughout his house to get to places quicker was pretty smart. And before you say "his voice changer didn't make sense". Well... it actually made more sense than you think. All you have to do is use a police scanner ('IMSI catcher' - which has been used for decades) to records someone's voice from a distance, then isolate and extract their voice and render it through into a modulator. Roman has been stalking Maureen and Sidney for some time, so was able to do this and most likely had done this with other people. Roman was the best GhostFace. He was so smart by manipulating people into certain situations and getting them right where he wanted. Its like he was playing a game of chess with them. Not only is he smart, but he is quite strong too. He took on 7 people in under an hour all by himself, inwhich other Ghostfaces needed an accomplice. He also orchestrated everything right from the get go and set everything in motion. The fact Roman managed to manipulate events and was clever enough to use things like bullet proof vests makes him the perfect ambodiment of Ghostface. Plus it was quite comedic and I always have fun with it. It's just a shame about Scream 3s writing.

The film give this signs that "this is when the old gen is replaced by the new one" all the time, just to get PAST the climax where Sidney "dies" and say "fuck that! Respect the originals! No way we are ditching them!". And bang! It's another classic Scream film, not a passing the torch thing. No other film in any other franchise has done this. Franchises these days are all about bringing back our beloved characters decades later just to kill them off and hand the story to new, arguably not so compelling characters. Scream 4 stood against that before that was a thing. And that's why I feel Scream 4 is still the best of the newer sequels. Scream 2022 did what Craven's last film pretended to, without the twist. It actually started the passing of the torch by killing Dewey and making Sidney a secondary character to new (and less interesting) protagonist Sam. I wonder if Scream 6 and 7 will be just about killing Gale and Sidney so there can be dozens of new films with the new generation and no need to worry about the legacy characters anymore.
I was apart of a horror group on Facebook (don't ask why I'm still on facebook) and there was a lot of hate for the scream movies in that group. It made me wonder how many people in horror Fandom dislike scream because scream like you said changed and saved horror. It's impact is still seen in a lot of slasher movies. It's an iconic movie that I think may get some hate now and I never understood why. But this could just be in that group and not a all around thing
Finally someone whos review about GHOSTFACE. Its not just about the killer reveals, its about how intimidating and a badass Ghostface can be. Honestly Scream 5 nailed it so hard with how Ghostface outsmarted almost everyone, had solid phone calls and was savage with the STABS
A smart and clever way to have made Act 3 longer in Scream 2022 was for the killer MISS Liv upon shooting at the party. Everyone would scatter around Stu’s house: The attic, the garage where Tatum died, the bedroom where Sidney and Billy had relations, and of course the basement. Ghostface would then call Sidney from inside the house, knowing she had arrived and say, “Welcome home, Sidney. We are in the middle of playing HIDE AND SEEK.” This would be the biggest reference to Ready or Not and the game the family plays, and a nod to the new directors. Especially because casuals compared Ready or Not to “You’re Next” and “Knives Out”. Liv would then be killed either in the garage just as Tatum did, or being thrown out the window from the attic like Sid did, except there’s no boat this time, spattering her on the driveway.

Late to the party on the rankings, but here’s mine: 1) SCREAM - classic! 2) SCREAM 2022 - LOVED! So many fun Easter eggs, nod to the original 3) Scream 4 - loved Kirby 4) Scream 3 - cool take on the movie set idea and sibling rivalry with Roman 5) Scream 2 - it had to exist so others would follow but just not my favorite. Hearing you rave about it though has made me want to watch it again.

I think Scream 4 is supposed to feel that disconnected because it's the "remake". The lighting filter it's a bit overboard but I think that's a commentary on the filters they put in 00s remakes.

I don't know if you notice or anyone else but in the new Scream, it was reveled that Kirby was still alive. During the scene on those two youtubers that were talking shit about Stab 8, on the right hand side, the list of video suggestions, one of them was a video of Kirby talking about surviving Ghostface in Woodsboro.
It hurt me when I saw dewey die I couldnt believe it was happening, as much as I didnt want him to die I think it was crucial for the success of this movie to have that big holy shit did that just happen scene. That scene will forever be remembered by scream fans everywhere and go down as one of the most memorable just because they actually killed off one of the big three.

The producer did an interview and made a good point, Dewey dying (which made me cry btw) was probably the only reason Sidney would come back to Woodsboro.

I gotta disagree on Dewey’s death. Gale would just be for shock value but Dewey got to go out a hero who saved someone’s little sister after losing his in the very first movie. It was a great and beautiful close to his character arch. And he got one of the best death scenes in the whole franchise. I think it’ll age better when the shock of it wears off.
He didn't go out as a hero though . He literally walked back on his own for the dumbass reason of popping one final cap in ghostefaces head and then gets gutted by a 5 ft 2 , 18 year old girl . I mean if you call that a hero's death then 👍👍 fair enough
Fully expecting this to be a new trilogy with how successful 5 has been so far. And idk if it should be the next Scream or the one after that but I fully think that they should take this new second wind and use it to do the whole Stu-Ghostface copycat/cultist thing that got dropped for 3 because of Columbine. Enough time has passed imo and it would be a REALLY cool way to put a stamp on a new Scream trilogy. And now it would feel EXTRA fitting because of the Sam-Billy connection. Excited for the future of Scream now for sure.
1. Scream - untouched because of it´s originality, characters, impact in the genre and the great ending. 2 Scream 4 - Best twist/reveal since the original. Best characters and overall story of the sequels. Most entertaining and goriest of the franchise 3 Scream 2022 - Nice story-concept and good use of suspense and tension. Kills make an impact for once! The twist/reveal and third act in general was weak 4 Scream 2 - Very good for a rushed sequel. Did not care for the characters. Twist / reveal was a mixed bag 5. Scream 3 - Tone of the movie is totaly out of control. The twist/ending is meh. There are far to many things in the plot that are absolutly absurd and outlandish (voicechanger,"Sidney´s halfbother making it big in Hollywood and gets to direct a Stab sequel)
As much I love Scream 2, I’m so torn because I absolutely LOVED Scream 2022 and I want to put them both in the #2 spot. Overall though, Scream 2 has the slight edge because of the stronger focus on the trio.

It’s so crazy to me how people don’t like 3 & 4. I feel like 1-4 is a complete package and the new one feels on the outside. Everything felt so rushed to feel like the others. The opening scene was good but it felt rushed to have that scared feel. Tara was so terrified right away when other characters play along with ghost face not really believing in him at first until he says that one thing then it triggers that panic. I feel like the 5th one tried way too hard to mimic the original that it was hard to enjoy. The characters are just thrown at you without any build up. I like the idea of Sam being billy loomis’s daughter that was awesome and I felt like that could’ve been used a lot more. This should’ve been the relatives coming back and finding themselves right where they started 25 years ago. To me the new one didn’t really live up to the others. It was good it wasn’t bad but it didn’t meet my expectations and maybe that’s why I didn’t like it as much as I did the others. I feel like 4 did an amazing job at bringing in the new generation and easing into the story line where this one felt rushed. The new one had alot of potential and great ideas I just think the execution was weak. I also hate that they killed Dewey but it did add that wow factor that was lacking the whole time. Just my opinion. Love Scream either way! 🔪
I think Dewey dying made the most sense though. It socks but one of them had to die and I thought he was going to die so I wasn't surprised. The new movie also didn't bring in the legacy characters till almost an hour in and it was working without them which is a great thing if they want to make more with the remaining characters.
I'm starting to wonder if we got a different version of Scream 5 in Australia. The one I saw was not overly good. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't that good. You could really tell that it didn't have the Wes Craven stamp on it.
Timothy Oliphant said that he tried to channel both Billy and Stu into one for scream 2, which I always thought was spot on! And totally scream 2 has the best soundtrack, kills Buffy, wipes the knife clean an then Everclear's the swing kicks in! Boom!!!
My ranking is the same as you. Scream 2022 has the potential to maybe go up a place eventually. I just can’t get over the fact that in a lot of the scenes where Ghostface was being a strong tall badass we are supposed to believe it was 5ft2 Amber lol.
How to bring Stu back: They could have cleverly written this story from the ground up to where we as an audience didn't realize till the very end that we were in fact watching a direct sequel to the original, and not a 5th installment, just like Halloween 2018, and that in this timeline Stu was locked up but escaped like Michael Myers in 2018. This movie was ALL TALK about subverting expectations with new tropes. The most prevalent plot device in horror today is alternate timelines, where it ignores the sequels and is a direct continuation from the original. It sounds crazy but the story could have been cleverly crafted to make us believe we were watching a 5th sequel only to have the bomb dropped at the end that it's a direct sequel. That would have been bold and badass in my opinion. You also could still have all those Stab films exist in this universe but only the 1st one was based off of real events. You could even get meta by a character not familiar with Woodsboro, asking " Didn't Sydney have multiple run ins with Ghostface?" And someone answers, " No, that was just the Stab films fictionalizing Sydneys life" All of this fan fiction pisses Stu off to where he escapes and finally make his sequel. "Cuz these days you gotta have a sequel!" 🤣
Loved the movie and everything about it. If I had to point out some cons for me, I'd say the pacing towards the third act was too fast. I feel they could've added more before act 3. I also feel they could've developed other characters more. Such as Liv and Vince. We didn't see too much of them and it's obvious they had history. Vince was killed too quick and Liv didn't really give me what I needed to click with her before her death. The killer reveal wasn't a big letdown for me. I just felt it was kinda predictable. It was obvious Ritchie was gonna be the killer, but the other killer I thought it'd be Mindy, Chad, Tara or even Liv and Amber. Low and behold, it's Amber. Wish I could've seen more of Sidney and Gale, but I understand why they were pushed to the side a bit. Gives room for the new character and their stories. Overall, besides those cons, there's many pros that make the movie spectacular imo.
I knew that abbey was the killer about halfway through. Mainly because the actress played Susan Atkins in once upon a time in Hollywood and I know that she could play an insane person. What's funny is that she got lit on fire in once upon a time in Hollywood and she also does in the new scream hahaha

1.Scream, Everyone knows the first Scream is the cream of the crop and the one that reinvigorating the slasher genre that continues to influence horror to this day including Halloween 2018 2. Scream 5, By far this one is the best Scream sequel as it's more of a requel that brings it back to the first movie that also acknowledges the sequels that came before and making Ghostface the meanest he's ever been in terms of how he stabs and kills people. 3. Scream 3, to me 3 is a underrated movie that has the most fun with itself even if the kills were tone downed for tragedy reasons 4.Scream 2, 2 is a great sequel and it was impressive how fast it was made shortly after the first one and only suffers some pacing issues. 5.Scream 4, also hate the way the movie looks with the weird oil filter that makes 4 not as re watchable as the other Scream movies. Maybe it's cause I adore the Scream franchise and it has a special place in my heart more than others that gives me this bias but even with the worst Scream movie none of them are pieces of shit which is a testament to the amazing film making that went into all 5 Scream films. It's an honor to be able to experience Scream 1 and 5 in the theater in the last few months since the 25th anniversary screening in October.
In scream 4 they literally could’ve added a split second scene to the final hospital battle where a nurse peaks her head in saying “hey is everything alri…” and boom Jill or even Judy shoot her as instinct and it would’ve given it more realism

The only correct ranking is 1, 2, 4/5, ... 3. But I wholeheartedly agree with not liking Amber as a killer cuz when you think about it, Amber literally killed every single person in the movie! Richie was with Sam when Tara was attacked so that was Amber. Amber was the one at the bar when Vince was killed. Richie was at the hospital watching Tara when Judy and Wes were killed so Amber killed them and Dewey. Amber killed Liv. The only time Richie ever put on the costume was to attack Sam at the hospital and attack Mindy. So the smallest person on the cast is snapping legs like twigs and overpowering everyone in costume but was visibly physically struggling in the fights after her reveal. It's completely inconsistent! At least Ms Loomis in the costume was consistent with her out of the costume. If you ask me the other killer shoulda been Chad. Requel rules says the killer had to be connected to the past, that's why they tried to frame Sam (just like 4), 1 killer related to Sam being Richie and the other being related to the legacy cast. Plus, Randy said himself if this were a scary movie he'd be the prime suspect. Well we already have a new Randy in Mindy and with Chad being a twin he could've been the flip side to that.
In Scream 5, they actually address why the floor is completely empty. They moved Tara to a private empty floor for safety. Sort of dumb but hey, at least we got a reason rather than 4 lmao
Okay, so I LOVED Scream 5, but there is something that urks me. Amber was in the ghostface costume in the hospital when Dewy was killed. But the actor in that costume was as big as Dewy was. And Amber is obviously a very tiny girl. Thats jsut something that bothers me. Same with Jill in 4

I loved 4, I thought Jill was a nice twist and I liked that Wes said he had her shot in the stomache so he could bring her back later if he wanted to.
Cody Leach had an awesome idea of Jill's plan actually succeeding and the movie ending with Sid in the hospital, health up in the air. Would have been cool to see a villian "win" and set up the next movie
Jill's motive is actually my favorite. I fell that in this franchise shallow motives like this are more scary. It shows the depths of the absolute lack of empathy that person had. Also points for the surprise twist about the killer wanting to become the final girl this time.

I still think Scream 4 is underrated. Concerning the original opening kill it was supposed to be fake out meta kill, fake out meta kill and then when the kill actual happens the character doesn’t believe it thinking it’s a joke slowly realizing she just watched her best friend get murdered in front of her. Very ambitious. Which is why the fucking Weinsteins it changed to a very generic run of mill kill.
Very underrated! It's also a faux "requel" before "requels" where a thing. It pretends to pass the torch and surprises us by going back and drawing a line. That for me is the most genius twist in the franchise so far. And the comedy is top notch. Scream has always been about this perfect blend of horror and comedy.

Used to dislike Scream 3 but watched it last year for the first time in well over a decade and LOVED it! Fun as hell with some great performances, particularly Parker Posey!
Parker Posey imitating Gale to Gale's face is gold! Also, 3 was the only Scream movie to kill a very important, already stablished character in the opening kill. All other films kill some new face just to get us in the mood, 3 kills freakin Cotton Weary! It opens with a real bang.
Talking about musical cues, when Red Right Hand played in 5, I got giddy with excitement.
I did too until Kyle Gallner got the weakest kill of the entire franchise and just wasted his character who had serious promise. Third best new character of the film and he was barely in it. I was so pissed he got wasted.
Jill's my favorite killer! She had me completely fooled, especially compared to Scream 2 & 3, which I felt kept their cards too close to their chest. She's the most evil killer out of all them for having her mom killed, I love her speech predicting the future of social media, her motive makes the most sense compared to other killers, and if you don't find her believable enough as the killers, it's very she likely she had Charlie do all the killings for her.

1. Scream (10/10 - my favourite horror movie, one of the first horrors I had ever seen at 6 years old)
2. Scream 2 (9/10 - As a kid I was so scared in the cop car scene - till this day my favourite scare scene of the franchise. I don't particularly like the killer reveals and the 3rd act drama set, but Mickey was a fun character and there were just so many stand out moments in the film)
3. Scream 4 (9/10 - Very close to overtaking Scream 2. Jill's killer motive was amazing! I wish they left in the deleted scenes of the teen cast at the water fountain talking about the killings and the scene at the hospital between Jill and Trevor - all this movie needed was a tad longer with the new cast)
4. Scream 5 (8/10 - Loved this new edition. Didn't like the critics hyping this movie as 'being the best since the original' left me a little disappointed as I would have loved putting this movie in 2nd place. It's hard because I was annoyed that Sidney & Gale took such a back seat in this movie, but on the flip side I didn't want them to have go through anymore Ghostface shit. If they make another movie they just need to leave them out of it somehow. Perhaps Sidney just makes a cameo on the phone saying "Deal with it your fucking self, I've got my own shit going on" with her kids in the background fighting over a poptart)
5. Scream 3 (7/10 - The most fun entry of the franchise. After re-watching this movie recently it was so ironic that this was produced by the Weinsteins, way ahead of its time with the 'casting couch' backstory. but hated how Roman's killer reveal undermined the killer reveals in the first movie).
For me with this new edition - Scream has now surpassed Nightmare on Elm street as my favourite horror franchise. Just can't deny the consistency and overall quality of the Scream movies!

I thought it would of been more believable for Judy to be Ghostface, as she's a strong women with plenty of experience and could have used her tactical training. I thought she could have slept with Billy in high school and Wes to be billys son, which would also have made more sense.
Or... they should have used the original script to Scream 3, which would have paid more respect to Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson.
The script entailed of Stu orchestrating some of the events from prison and then escaping. Imagine Stu orchestrating everything in 5 and then escaping prison and killing Dewey in a sequel? It would have been more believable and having two legacy characters fight it out would have been amazing.

Yeah I was a little disappointed before watching it hearing that stu wasn’t in it but I feel like that’s why some people hate it because of expectations. When I just understood it was another scream movie I watched it and liked it a lot for what it is.
The way you feel about Dewey dying in scream 5 is how I feel about Randy in 2... Randy was my favorite character and my 11 year old self saw him die in theater... off screen I might add. At least Dewey went out as a fighter in basically the best kill in the franchise. Poor Randy got jumped.

I could flip flop between 2 and 22 and 3 and 4 as well but it comes down to 2 things for me. I didn't feel like the killers in 2 got enough room to menace the audience after the reveal. I wasn't scared after the reveal I just wanted to see them get killed which I didn't in 22. And 3 has an incredible rewatch value whereas 4 kind of feels a bit hollow.

None of the new characters come even close to being as good or great as Kirby or Jill. None! Both Richie and Amber are the two worst killers of the franchise. For the life of me I can't take either one seriously. They're above Charlie only. Even Roman is above both of them and their motive is stupid as hell. Also they wasted Kyle Gallner, they killed Dewey after everything he's been through, Sidney is barely in the movie and I just don't see how it's better than Scream 4. I don't even like Sam. I like Tara and Mindy. Those are the only two characters I found even remotely interesting outside of Kyle Gallner who they completely wasted.
Scream 4 has the smartest plan. Jill was so damn close to getting away with everything until she slipped up once by letting it slip she knew Gale got stabbed. Everything else she did and planned she executed brilliantly.
There's a part of me that feels compelled to even put Scream 3 ahead of Scream 5 because of how ahead of its time it is and how it basically was letting it be known who Weinstein was right in his own produced movie laughing at us like look what I have been doing and it's right in front of you and there's nothing you can do about it.
Scream 3 is by far one of the most controversial movies to watch now because of that. It's super hard to see that all the way back in 2000 and knowing it would take 17 years for everything to come out.
I love Parker Posey as the actress playing Gale. She is hands down the best part about the movie. I wish they didn't kill her off.

Romans originality by using a voice changer to manipulate situations and using secret passages throughout his house to get to places quicker was pretty smart. And before you say "his voice changer didn't make sense". Well... it actually made more sense than you think. All you have to do is use a police scanner ('IMSI catcher' - which has been used for decades) to records someone's voice from a distance, then isolate and extract their voice and render it through into a modulator.
Roman has been stalking Maureen and Sidney for some time, so was able to do this and most likely had done this with other people.
Roman was the best GhostFace. He was so smart by manipulating people into certain situations and getting them right where he wanted. Its like he was playing a game of chess with them. Not only is he smart, but he is quite strong too. He took on 7 people in under an hour all by himself, inwhich other Ghostfaces needed an accomplice. He also orchestrated everything right from the get go and set everything in motion. The fact Roman managed to manipulate events and was clever enough to use things like bullet proof vests makes him the perfect ambodiment of Ghostface.
Plus it was quite comedic and I always have fun with it.
It's just a shame about Scream 3s writing.

In Scream 3 Roman actually states he was stalking Maureen ahen she was cheating with billys dad (well long before original Scream happened) and was stalking Sidney at the same time too. I love 4 deeply. I think it's genius that it's a faux "requel" made years before "requels" where a thing. The film give this signs that "this is when the old gen is replaced by the new one" all the time, just to get PAST the climax where Sidney "dies" and say "fuck that! Respect the originals! No way we are ditching them!". And bang! It's another classic Scream film, not a passing the torch thing. No other film in any other franchise has done this. Franchises these days are all about bringing back our beloved characters decades later just to kill them off and hand the story to new, arguably not so compelling characters. Scream 4 stood against that before that was a thing. And that's why I feel Scream 4 is still the best of the newer sequels. Scream 2022 did what Craven's last film pretended to, without the twist. It actually started the passing of the torch by killing Dewey and making Sidney a secondary character to new (and less interesting) protagonist Sam. I wonder if Scream 6 and 7 will be just about killing Gale and Sidney so there can be dozens of new films with the new generation and no need to worry about the legacy characters anymore.
I was apart of a horror group on Facebook (don't ask why I'm still on facebook) and there was a lot of hate for the scream movies in that group. It made me wonder how many people in horror Fandom dislike scream because scream like you said changed and saved horror. It's impact is still seen in a lot of slasher movies. It's an iconic movie that I think may get some hate now and I never understood why. But this could just be in that group and not a all around thing

Finally someone whos review about GHOSTFACE. Its not just about the killer reveals, its about how intimidating and a badass Ghostface can be. Honestly Scream 5 nailed it so hard with how Ghostface outsmarted almost everyone, had solid phone calls and was savage with the STABS

A smart and clever way to have made Act 3 longer in Scream 2022 was for the killer MISS Liv upon shooting at the party. Everyone would scatter around Stu’s house: The attic, the garage where Tatum died, the bedroom where Sidney and Billy had relations, and of course the basement.
Ghostface would then call Sidney from inside the house, knowing she had arrived and say, “Welcome home, Sidney. We are in the middle of playing HIDE AND SEEK.” This would be the biggest reference to Ready or Not and the game the family plays, and a nod to the new directors. Especially because casuals compared Ready or Not to “You’re Next” and “Knives Out”.
Liv would then be killed either in the garage just as Tatum did, or being thrown out the window from the attic like Sid did, except there’s no boat this time, spattering her on the driveway.

I don't know if you notice or anyone else but in the new Scream, it was reveled that Kirby was still alive. During the scene on those two youtubers that were talking shit about Stab 8, on the right hand side, the list of video suggestions, one of them was a video of Kirby talking about surviving Ghostface in Woodsboro.

It hurt me when I saw dewey die I couldnt believe it was happening, as much as I didnt want him to die I think it was crucial for the success of this movie to have that big holy shit did that just happen scene. That scene will forever be remembered by scream fans everywhere and go down as one of the most memorable just because they actually killed off one of the big three.

The producer did an interview and made a good point, Dewey dying (which made me cry btw) was probably the only reason Sidney would come back to Woodsboro.

I gotta disagree on Dewey’s death. Gale would just be for shock value but Dewey got to go out a hero who saved someone’s little sister after losing his in the very first movie. It was a great and beautiful close to his character arch. And he got one of the best death scenes in the whole franchise. I think it’ll age better when the shock of it wears off.
He didn't go out as a hero though . He literally walked back on his own for the dumbass reason of popping one final cap in ghostefaces head and then gets gutted by a 5 ft 2 , 18 year old girl . I mean if you call that a hero's death then 👍👍 fair enough
Fully expecting this to be a new trilogy with how successful 5 has been so far. And idk if it should be the next Scream or the one after that but I fully think that they should take this new second wind and use it to do the whole Stu-Ghostface copycat/cultist thing that got dropped for 3 because of Columbine. Enough time has passed imo and it would be a REALLY cool way to put a stamp on a new Scream trilogy. And now it would feel EXTRA fitting because of the Sam-Billy connection. Excited for the future of Scream now for sure.
I'm gonna talk about this in the livestream tonight but I have a theory about Stu actually being in this movie, we just didn't notice it!
1. Scream - untouched because of it´s originality, characters, impact in the genre and the great ending.
2 Scream 4 - Best twist/reveal since the original. Best characters and overall story of the sequels. Most entertaining and goriest of the franchise
3 Scream 2022 - Nice story-concept and good use of suspense and tension. Kills make an impact for once! The twist/reveal and third act in general was weak
4 Scream 2 - Very good for a rushed sequel. Did not care for the characters. Twist / reveal was a mixed bag
5. Scream 3 - Tone of the movie is totaly out of control. The twist/ending is meh. There are far to many things in the plot that are absolutly absurd and outlandish (voicechanger,"Sidney´s halfbother making it big in Hollywood and gets to direct a Stab sequel)

As much I love Scream 2, I’m so torn because I absolutely LOVED Scream 2022 and I want to put them both in the #2 spot. Overall though, Scream 2 has the slight edge because of the stronger focus on the trio.

It’s so crazy to me how people don’t like 3 & 4. I feel like 1-4 is a complete package and the new one feels on the outside. Everything felt so rushed to feel like the others. The opening scene was good but it felt rushed to have that scared feel. Tara was so terrified right away when other characters play along with ghost face not really believing in him at first until he says that one thing then it triggers that panic. I feel like the 5th one tried way too hard to mimic the original that it was hard to enjoy. The characters are just thrown at you without any build up. I like the idea of Sam being billy loomis’s daughter that was awesome and I felt like that could’ve been used a lot more. This should’ve been the relatives coming back and finding themselves right where they started 25 years ago. To me the new one didn’t really live up to the others. It was good it wasn’t bad but it didn’t meet my expectations and maybe that’s why I didn’t like it as much as I did the others. I feel like 4 did an amazing job at bringing in the new generation and easing into the story line where this one felt rushed. The new one had alot of potential and great ideas I just think the execution was weak. I also hate that they killed Dewey but it did add that wow factor that was lacking the whole time. Just my opinion. Love Scream either way! 🔪

I think Dewey dying made the most sense though. It socks but one of them had to die and I thought he was going to die so I wasn't surprised. The new movie also didn't bring in the legacy characters till almost an hour in and it was working without them which is a great thing if they want to make more with the remaining characters.
I'm starting to wonder if we got a different version of Scream 5 in Australia. The one I saw was not overly good. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't that good. You could really tell that it didn't have the Wes Craven stamp on it.
Timothy Oliphant said that he tried to channel both Billy and Stu into one for scream 2, which I always thought was spot on! And totally scream 2 has the best soundtrack, kills Buffy, wipes the knife clean an then Everclear's the swing kicks in! Boom!!!

My ranking is the same as you. Scream 2022 has the potential to maybe go up a place eventually. I just can’t get over the fact that in a lot of the scenes where Ghostface was being a strong tall badass we are supposed to believe it was 5ft2 Amber lol.
How to bring Stu back:
They could have cleverly written this story from the ground up to where we as an audience didn't realize till the very end that we were in fact watching a direct sequel to the original, and not a 5th installment, just like Halloween 2018, and that in this timeline Stu was locked up but escaped like Michael Myers in 2018. This movie was ALL TALK about subverting expectations with new tropes. The most prevalent plot device in horror today is alternate timelines, where it ignores the sequels and is a direct continuation from the original. It sounds crazy but the story could have been cleverly crafted to make us believe we were watching a 5th sequel only to have the bomb dropped at the end that it's a direct sequel. That would have been bold and badass in my opinion.
You also could still have all those Stab films exist in this universe but only the 1st one was based off of real events. You could even get meta by a character not familiar with Woodsboro, asking " Didn't Sydney have multiple run ins with Ghostface?" And someone answers, " No, that was just the Stab films fictionalizing Sydneys life" All of this fan fiction pisses Stu off to where he escapes and finally make his sequel. "Cuz these days you gotta have a sequel!" 🤣
Hoping they are saving the wild stuff for Scream 6!
Loved the movie and everything about it. If I had to point out some cons for me, I'd say the pacing towards the third act was too fast. I feel they could've added more before act 3. I also feel they could've developed other characters more. Such as Liv and Vince. We didn't see too much of them and it's obvious they had history. Vince was killed too quick and Liv didn't really give me what I needed to click with her before her death. The killer reveal wasn't a big letdown for me. I just felt it was kinda predictable. It was obvious Ritchie was gonna be the killer, but the other killer I thought it'd be Mindy, Chad, Tara or even Liv and Amber. Low and behold, it's Amber. Wish I could've seen more of Sidney and Gale, but I understand why they were pushed to the side a bit. Gives room for the new character and their stories. Overall, besides those cons, there's many pros that make the movie spectacular imo.
I knew that abbey was the killer about halfway through. Mainly because the actress played Susan Atkins in once upon a time in Hollywood and I know that she could play an insane person. What's funny is that she got lit on fire in once upon a time in Hollywood and she also does in the new scream hahaha

I love the original 3. My sister, mom, and I have watched them hundreds of times. 4 was good but felt different compared to the other ones. 5 was great but I want to watch it more times to decide how good it is.
1.Scream, Everyone knows the first Scream is the cream of the crop and the one that reinvigorating the slasher genre that continues to influence horror to this day including Halloween 2018
2. Scream 5, By far this one is the best Scream sequel as it's more of a requel that brings it back to the first movie that also acknowledges the sequels that came before and making Ghostface the meanest he's ever been in terms of how he stabs and kills people.
3. Scream 3, to me 3 is a underrated movie that has the most fun with itself even if the kills were tone downed for tragedy reasons
4.Scream 2, 2 is a great sequel and it was impressive how fast it was made shortly after the first one and only suffers some pacing issues.
5.Scream 4, also hate the way the movie looks with the weird oil filter that makes 4 not as re watchable as the other Scream movies.
Maybe it's cause I adore the Scream franchise and it has a special place in my heart more than others that gives me this bias but even with the worst Scream movie none of them are pieces of shit which is a testament to the amazing film making that went into all 5 Scream films. It's an honor to be able to experience Scream 1 and 5 in the theater in the last few months since the 25th anniversary screening in October.
1, 2, 4, 5, 3 for me but I love them all so much. 5 missed opportunities for good chase scenes or at least 1 good chase scene.
In scream 4 they literally could’ve added a split second scene to the final hospital battle where a nurse peaks her head in saying “hey is everything alri…” and boom Jill or even Judy shoot her as instinct and it would’ve given it more realism

But I wholeheartedly agree with not liking Amber as a killer cuz when you think about it, Amber literally killed every single person in the movie! Richie was with Sam when Tara was attacked so that was Amber. Amber was the one at the bar when Vince was killed. Richie was at the hospital watching Tara when Judy and Wes were killed so Amber killed them and Dewey. Amber killed Liv. The only time Richie ever put on the costume was to attack Sam at the hospital and attack Mindy. So the smallest person on the cast is snapping legs like twigs and overpowering everyone in costume but was visibly physically struggling in the fights after her reveal. It's completely inconsistent! At least Ms Loomis in the costume was consistent with her out of the costume. If you ask me the other killer shoulda been Chad. Requel rules says the killer had to be connected to the past, that's why they tried to frame Sam (just like 4), 1 killer related to Sam being Richie and the other being related to the legacy cast. Plus, Randy said himself if this were a scary movie he'd be the prime suspect. Well we already have a new Randy in Mindy and with Chad being a twin he could've been the flip side to that.
Sam's biological dad was Billy. So if she were to decide to take her fathers name, she would be Sam Loomis.
In Scream 5, they actually address why the floor is completely empty. They moved Tara to a private empty floor for safety. Sort of dumb but hey, at least we got a reason rather than 4 lmao
People keep saying they hated Amber but she was the one who pretty much killed everyone and did most of the attacks lol

Okay, so I LOVED Scream 5, but there is something that urks me. Amber was in the ghostface costume in the hospital when Dewy was killed. But the actor in that costume was as big as Dewy was. And Amber is obviously a very tiny girl. Thats jsut something that bothers me. Same with Jill in 4
