Thanks for this video. To anyone else thinking of purchasing the Wham Bam flex system with the PEX build plate for Ultimaker 2+, here's a couple of things that have helped me get decent prints using PLA:
    1. Ensure the heated bed is level when the magnetic base is applied. I used a set square to measure flatness and bent the bed by hand with it still attached to the printer.
    2. Use a brim with your prints and heat the bed to 70 degrees C, this stopped the corners of prints becoming detached.
    3. Use a surface cleaner between prints and wipe it off with a dry cloth. Use extra fine steel wool to lightly scratch the PEX surface.
Ongoing issues: the first layer appears a bit too squished on the print bed, despite levelling; this is tolerable.
The surface finish of the face attached to print bed is glossy and professional looking; and parts are definitely easier to remove than painter's tape, which is what I was using before.

They sent me a new bed that has cut outs for the clips. So the magnet can go on the glass bed. This means you can print better since the springs aren’t at the top of their limits, making the bed springy! Video soon

I began my 3D printing journey barely 2 weeks ago after I was given an Ultimaker 2, which seems to be in great shape with low hours on it. I’ve learnt a lot in this time already, but found I’m getting the itch to upgrade the machine. Since you’ve done this yourself, is it still worth paying for the Ultimaker 2+ extrusion upgrade kit in this day and age given you can pick up brand new 3D printers for less than the cost of the upgrade kit? As in, is the Ultimaker that much better (still) than new 3D printers in the £400-£600 price bracket?
Thanks in advance for your input, and great video.

That’s a really fair question. I love the Ultimaker printers and that upgrade really does a lot for that machine. I still use it a lot even today! However in a world of amazing Bambi Labs machines bringing the costs way down - it’s really a toss up. If you can find the upgrade for a good price, I’d do it! But if you’re just learning and ready to step into something more modern, I show people the P1PS they make. Let me know what you opt to do!

I also have an U2 upgraded to a + and I am thinking of getting a door and maybe a lid/top but I have only ever used the glass bed with very rarely Pritt stick more over I use nothing at all and the prints never seem to have any issues sticking to the bed

I’ve had a few stick too good!
I like the top enclosure and front door. I use that carbon filter to mitigate the VOCs

Instead of using the adapter, wouldn't it be a better idea to increase the hole size? A 80mm hole is about twice as large as a 60mm hole (5027mm^2 vs 2827mm^2) so this setup is severely restricting the airflow.

I was surprised how small those bed wheels are on the Ultimaker, I would have designed and printed some enlargements to thise wheels had it been my printer

You want to be careful with the clearance along the sides of the printer on the front ones. Honestly they work just fine. User preferences 🤓

I have 3 UM2go printers that I use daily and I know what you mean but it is quite easy to turn those screws. It's not a problem.

Those are neat little printers. Hard to find!
