Guys I take a shop air hose and blow clean the engine Bay Area real good. Then vacuum around the opening area before removing the screws. Then I vacuum out as much of the filter and housing as I can get before removing the filter and as soon as I get the dirty filter out I vacuum the entire housing area and stuff the inlet with a clean shop cloth or 2. When I remove the shop clothes I again vacuum out the area be for installing the new or clean cold air filter. Treat it like your the engine surgon.😊👍🇨🇦
Wash from the inside out as best as possible. I have a small adapter that turns the tip of the hose to a 90%. It's just a 1/2" piece of PVC that I made up works great rather than trying to get your hand in there.
S&B clearly states do not to use Airasol spray oil. Just saying. What could go wrong? PS Washabul oil products? Diesel run away.? Just a little added fuel. Just to get it started.
Great video, but if I may, I have a couple suggestions. Never want to bang a filter on the ground. You could break some of the filter media. You can tap your hand against it lightly. Using compressed air is also not good. But like you did, very low pressure is ok, you just want to go from the inside out. I like to use my shop vac to remove debris from my filters and then wash and oil such as you did.
S&B suggests tapping it to remove the big chunks. On their non-oiled media they say to use compressed air to clean the media. We do the same on all our tractors. That being said, the S&B filter wrap is a good idea to keep the big chunks out of the filter pleats.

Thanks for the video. About to clean my filter now.
When I ordered my kit for my cummins, I also ordered the pre filter/outerwear. Might want to check into that. Nice video
Never compressed air. Water from the inside out never from the outside in
Great video! Cleaned up mines like a charm after seeing this.
Did you use the k&n kit on the s&b??
Don’t use air but vary nice setup
Using Air can push the particles deeper into the fabric of the filter.
Does it mater what brand the air filter oil is i have a s and b intake I’m using a k and n cleaner kit
Oh, but it will void your billion mile warranty from S&B....as if
where's your rubber gasket for your lid?
It is clearly shown applied to the lid
Im having issues doing the simple reinstall 🤦🏾♂️
Great video
Did you notice any performance gains after you installed that air filter?
I have the same set up it just makes the turbo sound a bit louder
Fuck no 😂 it just looks cool and is convenient
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
YMMV, I put one in on 2016 Ram 1500 ED. I got about 1.25-1.5mpg increase and better throttle response.
If you don't clean it you will notice a decrease
Wayyy to much oil. This is how MAF sensors get messed up.
There is no mass air flow on a 7.3
S&B gives oil quantity specs for each size of filter. That guy added considerably less with the spray than S&B does with the oil bottle
I dont get the oil part that seems counter productive gunk up your .......

He really didn’t bang it that hard.
