What a great video! It's moving to see stories about knives from an emotional perspective, as keepsake objects and not just as tools in action.

Don’t get me wrong, Spyderco is my absolute favorite knives. But my story is my Buck 110. Saved for a time to buy it when I was 17. Carried it in Boy Scout and 26 years in the US Navy. I stared to branch out to other knives soon after the Navy and the buck was cleaned up and put in the drawer for a bit. Later my Son went in the USAF and I passed the Buck to him and he still has it. Almost 50 years later that knife is still in great shape and being used 😊

I've been all in on Spyderco for the past 30+ years. Native 5 LW is my favorite as well. Help me convince Spyderco they need to build this knife with a compression lock.

Thanks for the wonderful story, and congrats on your anniversary! The Native 5 is my favorite as well. Just the perfect knife.
Kudos, also, on the way you combine your faith with your love of knives and EDC in such a positive way. As an atheist who frequently reads the Bible (Job is the Native 5 of the Bible!) it is wonderful, in these fractious times, to be reminded of the good things we have in common. Best of luck to you and your family.

One of my favorite EDC's? Like the looks of this one plus it is legal in my area where any blade over 3 inches is illegal? Mine is in S30V steel . I also like lanyards ? 55O Paracord and an empty 40 cal. casing as a fob

Something like 15 years ago i decided i needed a pocket knife. I had always carried a sak since scouts growing up without really thinking about it and kinda outside the concept of “edc.”
I googled “best pocket knife” and found a nutnfancy vid of the Kershaw 1760 skyline. Liked the way it looked, and it was made 20 mins from where i grew up. I grabbed one from walmart for $35.
That was my gateway into the hobby 15 years ago. Never really a collector. Usually bought and sold/traded, only kept a few favorites over the years.

Many... heck most of my knives are memories. My wife got me a Buck Duke for my first Father's day while pregnant with our daughter and had "Adi's Daddy 2015" Engraved on it. and then for my first Father's Day with my daughter my wife got me a Shepard Hills Fathers Day Case Trapper. And before that I got all of my groomsmen 2 knives for gifts. The first was a purple Buck Approach (no longer made, our wedding color was purple) but when I found out it was made in china... I went and got them all an American made Case as well.

The two Knives that means the most to me totally different. One is a old Case Copperhead Folder that was my Uncle Bob's knife that he bought shortly before he died. I was given the knife after his funeral. My wife had it in her purse when we arrived at the Airport and without thinking about it, it was confiscated. The people at the Birmingham AP were kind enough to mail it to us. That would never have happened here at the Dallas Ap.
Number two is a knife that is unfinished and never will be. My good friends Bob Loveless and Jim Merritt gave me a piece of BG-42 Steel, (a steel that Mr Bob had developed just for his knives), and I ground it in the Loveless shop itself.
Mr. Bob and Jimbo are gone now and it remains on my shop wall in an honored spot. It will never be finished as my relationship with M. Bob and Jimbo will never be finished. I keep both of them in my heart daily.

Great story. The best gift my wife ever gave me was a divorce. Hey, we had 19 good years , but it was time to part. It was all in God’s plan, as we both have happily moved on , and live life with the zest it was meant to have. Anyways, I absolutely love the Native 5, but of all my Spydercos ( I collect them and have near 25), my favorite is a tie between the Kapara, and the SpydieChef. The Kapara’s contoured carbon fiber grips make it a joy to hold a maneuver cuts, while the ultra slicey SpiderChef is an absolute laser beam, cutting not only steaks & chops, but anything else you throw at it including 3/8” nylon rope / HD cardboard / leather belts / etc. Spydercos are the best bang for your buck IMHO, of course. New subscriber here, looking forward to your future videos. God bless !…..😊

I found out about owning an OTF in California. The law is that you just cannot carry an otf with a blade longer than 2” but you can possess one with a blade longer than 2” as long as it’s just used at home. Can anyone verify this?

I dont understand the 'thing' about pocket knives,I just dont understand the fascination-I think I have aroundthirty to forty mid to high end fokders,(spent aroung four to five thousand on them).Guns,I only have what I need, same with other weapons.Watches are kinda cool, got eight or nine, mostly automatics. But ultimitly,I would be perfectly happy with one watch and one gun.Not so with knives,am I weird?
