You have done a wonderful job. Now as the years pass, you’ll know what to add and change -endless possibilities. Thank you for showing your home. We will be bldg a barndo, too and knowing what you would do different is such valuable info for us. Blessings
Im definitely someone who likes to learn from others mistakes, so thanks for this. I will definitely be doing carpet in some areas and not polished concrete throughout. I love the double door idea in thw front, makes bringing in furniture and appliances a breeze lol.
Our home has an open floor plan with oak floors, ceiling height is 9 -10 ft & we don't have that sound issue. No rugs either as we used to raise & rescue small dogs.
The heat from the windows is easily fixed by adding some window tint. I did a copper window tint on a house of mine that had three huge windows up high in the living room. The tint was a game changer. And looks great.
@@aeirvlogs the suggestion for the copper may be more bird friendly than the mirror. Mirror really reflects the sky and trees where the birds fly into it and a good deal of time they don't survive the hit. Great job on your home, congrats on your beautiful lovely daughter
This is the thing that my wife does not like about Barna minium is the echo bouncing around in that house she hates that. And I have to admit I don’t like it either. So it makes it hard for me to sell her on on these type of homes. This is the reason I wouldn’t have that cathedral type ceiling. I would make it 10 foot ceilings to stop that from happening.
Maybe shower shelves. I regretted not adding more to our large barn garage shower. Barns here in Texas panhandle skyrocketed, so we're going a different route for the house, but looks great! Thanks for sharing!
So...basically, youve spent a minimum of $225,000 doing it yourself with an existing structure. Im assuming that includes your furnishings? I dont mean to be rude at all, but does this include any land or the cost of the original barn? That makes a HUGE difference. What does the $75 sq ft include? Thanks!
You have a really nice house, but having white walls, white cabinets and rug is what I would change. I would paint a couple accent walls, nothing crazy. Or use some slat boards or wood or brick to add some texture. Also large rugs will add a lot and help with the echo
Hi nice to meet you! First visit to your channel! Love your home. TIP: look into ceramic window film for the bedroom windows. Husband restored a White 2-110 tractor. The cab glass is like the pope mobile. He took it in to be tinted, and the shop offered the same price his left over stock from a house project. The reduction in heat has been remarkable. Clear film. You can't tell it is applied. PS. Your laundry room exit door...BRILLIANT. Write His name on your heart and scripture everywhere. Don the full armor, and stand. Stand Therefore. XO
New subscriber! You are all such a breath of fresh air! My fiance and I are doing LOADS of research on what type of home we want to build in Georgia. We are lucky to be buying a lot where you can do mobile, stick, or modular. The peach bathroom is so cute and I might need to replicate especially since we are moving to the peach state! Thank you for the honesty in the video and I'm excited to see what you all do next!
Love that you chose not to add stain/color to the floor-not sure why I am in luv with the natural color- but I 'yam' 😁 have you noticed ANY run lines or cracks in your cement ??? Someone asked prior, but no reply - did you add the heat kit??? You mentioned snowy climate - just curious! I'm certain I wouldn't be able to add to my floors and keep cost low! Great work on your home. tfs
I bet the dog and kids love the open space to rip around inside with all that room. I love the big open space too and the simple floors (easy to clean). I’m sad her kitchen counters are cluttered with lots of items in a kitchen that size and her pantry is small. In my kitchen, I would not lack for storage and would make a large butlers pantry with a secondary kitchen including dishwasher, stove, sink and freezer for home canning and food storage. Also to get that clutter off my counter.
Many ways to build. Some are much better, some are much worse. If I were to build in FL I’d look in to pre engineered metal buildings. But that’s just me
Did you guys use just regular insulation or did you use spray foam insulation? Also, what brand of windows did you use? I know spray foam cost more but with spray foam and good quality windows, you should not have heat coming into your home even on a hot day and with dark exterior colors.
How do you like a concrete floor? Are you worried about falls with little ones? I can’t decide if I want to go slab or wood. I love the heated slab route but concerned about injuries and wear on my joints. Love the house btw.
Nice place! Love the space and baby grand. Great ideas…don’t rush the build. Put in softness as that will help with echos and loud. Beautiful kitchen table! And baby climb!
If you used financial help, can you explain the construction loan process? Is it the same as a regular conventional building loan or if a barndo is different? Thanks😊
Where did you get the frame from? I’m so interested in doing something like this, but not sure where to start looking. I’d love to know who you bought from
Wow almost two years. Really like the build. On the dog faucet, I didn’t catch if that was a hate. I think that’s genius especially with us having two dogs.
It’s not too bad for 3040sq ft and tall ceilings. Electric is around 250 in the summer. 100 ELE in winter and sadly propane is 300-500/mo in the winter.
Hey Guys I was wondering what was the budget for your build? I am seriously considering saving up and building a barndo instead of getting a small suburb house
Love love love, can you give me a ruff estimate on how much it cost and is it a poured slab ? I’m in upstate NY and the sorry about cracking foundation.
I have about a $300k budget as of right now. I own a 3 acre tree lot just outside of carrier ms. I keep running the numbers and I just cant seem to get a rough estimate of how much everything is going to cost. What would you propose I do for gathering information on cost? And does $300K sound like enough for 2300+ sqf home.
Wouldnt live in any state that had lots of snow with this build but i get location some are stuck because if budget. Luckily im a smart investor and i may out on in washington. A 2700sq for my vacations. Cant replace my mini castle in orange county lol. Great video! 😂
I love what you guys have done with the barndo. I have a big family and want to do something similar. Did you do this all by yourself or hire out contractors? I had a 40x60 steel building (3:12 pitch) built about 8 years ago and did the foundation myself, but had a crew put it up. Not sure if you had spray foam insulation done between the inside panels, etc to finish this out. At $70 per square foot you're talking less than 300k for this build? That's impressive. I already have property, an existing home and solar/power, etc, six bedroom septic, etc. So I would only have the cost of constructing the structure and permits on my existing 50 acres. The barndo would be an ADU with a maximum square footage of 6000 sq feet in my area.
pretty cool, im just wondering why you chose stained wood for the casing/trim but used white windoes...? it kinda seems like an afterthought. Other than that, it looks like a neat place to live. Are the floors built with radiant in slab boiler heat?
The Echo from the high ceilings no things of softness to absorb the sound would be driving me nuts
Definitely worth adding sound dampening boards in the future
The echo is not the ceilings…..its the floor! Put some rugs down or carpet
I just made a note on that for myself. To address echo if i go this route.
The echo is just awful.
Put some rugs on the floor!
You have done a wonderful job. Now as the years pass, you’ll know what to add and change -endless possibilities. Thank you for showing your home. We will be bldg a barndo, too and knowing what you would do different is such valuable info for us. Blessings
I didn’t see many major mistakes. Would have loved a less misleading title so I didn’t spend all of this time waiting on major mistakes to avoid.
Agreed. I hate click bate

Agreed, we like learning from other peoples mistakes as well. I will be finding rugs asap for our brando.
Y’all have done a tremendous job! Give yourselves some grace! Beautiful daughter and beautiful home! Many happy years to y’all!
You’re the best!
Yes! They are inspiring us on how we go about our barndo. thankful for videos like this.
How did you get it for $70 per square foot? Is that just for the shell or complete?

Sound panels tho
I love that you show your catchall room. Thank you for sharing. That’s cute.

It’s not as bad as the video makes it seem but could definitely add panels or something

This video is garbage step it up if you want people to watch more than 30 seconds
I may have missed it somewhere, but would it be possible to know about how much you spent on your Barndo start to finish? Thank you!

Can you recommend a website that has already built Barndominums for sale?
This is a lovely home!!❤
You guys did a great job. Your house looks beautiful.
Can you go over a budget for different parts of your build?
I know you did most of the work but, What barndominium company did you use?
I bet the dog and kids love the open space to rip around inside with all that room. I love the big open space too and the simple floors (easy to clean). Yeah bigger pantry would’ve definitely been smart. You can tell I designed that part and not my wife!
-Paul
Definitely could make the pantry more efficient within its current size.
lovely barndo im watching as much videos for ideas anD BUILD ONE OF THIS FOR MYSELF IN BUDGET...... THANKS FOR VIDEO
Would love to know if these would fare better with hurricanes and storms than a traditional stick built home for us folks in Florida.
Yes, with an engineered plan they should fare better structurally speaking, but don't forget that flying object may ding or dent the metal.
Many ways to build. Some are much better, some are much worse.
If I were to build in FL I’d look in to pre engineered metal buildings. But that’s just me
Beautiful family, beautiful house. Thank you for the tour…
What size is it and did you heat the floors since you live in a snowy winter environment?
I love your home. If you don’t mind me asking, how much did it cost you?
Yes cost?
225000
Does the inside of your house retain the heat and the cold air?
OMG!!!! BEEN LOOKING FOR A PLACE FOR MY FULL SIZE 1918 STEINWAY!!!
Maybe you should paint the trim white and it will blend in
great looking house, can I ask what you are using for heat?
Did you guys use just regular insulation or did you use spray foam insulation? Also, what brand of windows did you use? I know spray foam cost more but with spray foam and good quality windows, you should not have heat coming into your home even on a hot day and with dark exterior colors.
Hi Thanks for the content. I would like to build a Barndominium for my daughter. Can you share the square ft and cost per square ft. Thanks Jerry
I would for sure put down a quality flooring to soak up the sound.
Is that the straight the foundation just polished up and some sort of sealer on it? I was wondering if this was possible or something people did?
Beautiful Barndo!!
How big is your barndo shell?
What are the dimensions of the living room and kitchen? Like from the cabinets to the wall where your guest bath is.
the trim is. amazing.
Is that a concrete floor and do you like it?
Thanks for sharing your home and helpful insights!
How do you like a concrete floor? Are you worried about falls with little ones? I can’t decide if I want to go slab or wood. I love the heated slab route but concerned about injuries and wear on my joints. Love the house btw.
How hard are the floors to clean?
Good question! We are still building ours and I am finding out that dust get everywhere and sweeping doesn't seem to be the best way.
Thanks😊
that echo would drive me nuts i would buy a bunch of acoustic decorative panels
I wonder if using wood flooring would tone down the echo
That might help, or getting some rugs would help too!
Love the barn door.
I love it guys!!! New follower from Ohio.✌✌🎣 Good luck with your small business!
If you enclose the other side of the baby climber you could use it to store your kids stuff in it without it having to lean against the wall
Where did you get the frame from? I’m so interested in doing something like this, but not sure where to start looking. I’d love to know who you bought from
Worldwide steel buildings!
there is a lot of echo. Do you have any ideas on sound deadening?
The dog water tap is great until your kids start playing with it 😂
Dream Home for real
It's pretty awesome, they are inspiring.
Wow almost two years. Really like the build. On the dog faucet, I didn’t catch if that was a hate. I think that’s genius especially with us having two dogs.
Not a hate on that! We love it
It’s definitely a “like” but also limits where you can put the pet feeding station. If you want to move it in future, you’ll lose the filling option.
So is all the floors cement? If so are they heated.
How much did this all cost?
I like the very high ceilings it opens up the space but how do you get rid of the echo?
How is the heating and cooling ? I hear they are very energy efficient
It’s not too bad for 3040sq ft and tall ceilings. Electric is around 250 in the summer. 100 ELE in winter and sadly propane is 300-500/mo in the winter.
@@aeirvlogs Could you have done radiant heat in the floors, and would that have saved money on the heating costs? Also, do you have solar panels?
Where did you buy your cabinets and countertops from in your bathrooms?
Where did you get the carpet?
great tour and adorable family! I have a non-barndo question . . . where did you get that top. So adorable! Jeans too!!☺
Beautiful kitchen
What is the name of your white paint colour on the walls? :)
Did y’all come up with the floor plans or was it already planned out?
We came up with our own! We took ideas from Pinterest, and previous homes to design what would work best for us.
Do you get used to the ECHO?
I think the best way to deal with it is to get rugs to make the echo go away.
I like your floor plan size and lay out. Is this your floor plan or did you get the plans somewhere?
Came up with it ourselves. Wanted super simple to save on cost
@aeirvlogs would you potentially share with others? Are you allowed? Would love to look at them as we are considering a barndominium.
Great video. Thank you for the walk through. What are the acoustics like with piano? Also how is the insulation and energy efficiency? Thanks
Hi, what size is your structure? How does safety compare with a frame home in a hurricane or tornado? Thank you.
It’s rated for 210mph winds I believe!
Love your home.. absolutely beautiful..
Hello, how hard was it to finish your Cement floors?
Is there no garage or work area? I thought that was the whole point is you have space for your cars, toys, work bench, etc.
Love it!!!!!!
Beautiful!!!!!!
Does the final price include appliances? Im worried our 407k build we are sketching out wint include new appliances.

Lots to love about your family and home. It would really bug me that the stove is way off center with the bank of cabinets along that wall.
