When someone falls off a cliff in a western movie: I'm not buying it unless I see the body Someone's heart explodes in a manga: I'm not buying it until the series is over
@@drrafa4031 I know. I was being sarcastic. But it's frankly an attempt to bring back a fan favorite who died to try to regain some popularity. Except it pissed off the fans of Naruto even more, and in the end, there is nothing that made us love Jiraya that's in the character anyway.
@@miavia4689 yes, I don't remember which chapters but there were like 4 pages of then fighting and then at the end of the arc they show a defeated Re-Destro
I feel like this series has a very bad habit of trying to cash in on the emotional deaths of characters who just never really had enough screen-time. For goodness' sake, the most impactful character death up to this point has been the BDSM superheroine who was largely played for comedy more than anything serious.
@@TheAzulmagia Hey, don't disrespect my boy Twice. But yeah, aside from him and Torino's fake death almost every character who dies got almost no screen time at all
I know it's not gonna happen, but I would pay for Bakugo's body to reject the fake heart. Medical rejection is a big problem with transplants, and Edgeshot is literally putting all his cells in Bakugo's body and expecting his heart to beat again. Frankly, it should be a medical disaster. Sure it'll work out at this point, but it shouldn't.
@@diamonshade7484 right but that's like 10% of the massive problem here. Sure they might have a compatible blood type, but they don't have compatible *bodies* You literally can't just slap a new lung into someone and expect it to work perfectly. Even compatible organs can be rejected by a body.
Hahaha So True, Poor Bakugou he WANTS to destroy Villains but his feats of past bullying overshadow his good achievements. He’s cause more ruin and sabotage towards the Heroes than the ACTUAL main Villain. All Might, Gran Torino, Aizawa’s teaching career was on the line cause of his shitty behavior and now Edgeshot.

I lost my investment in MHA a while ago. I'm still reading it week to week but I don't have the same emotional attachment to it I had before. It sucks for people who feel cheated but this is fucking hilarious to me. Like, if Bakugo lives past this battle does he spend the rest of his life with a heart made out of a guy? How will this impact his healthcare going forward? So many dumb questions to never be answered. I like to imagine Edgeshot will spend the rest of Bakugo's life consciously pumping his blood, regulating blood pressure, always awake but never fully aware. Cannot wait to see how this gets worse, hoping for a perfect trainwreck ending.
Yea every since Deku stoped being dark/serious just turning over a new leaf when it came to the state of Japan, and just became normal old Deku again, Stars and Stripes, the traitor plot came out of nowhere with TWO fake outs, Bakugou death fake out, Random All For One face reveal, Deku’s STILL not in the final battle yet, it just feels like…😐 I was confused on what to enjoy here😭
honestly same im just reading because hey might as well, it is hilarious especially hearing my friend who does not give a shit about mha but knows spoilers talk about bakugo having a JEART, a jean heart that sent me into a big fit of laughter, even if bakugo doesn't have a Jeart but a heart made out of edgeshot is still funny to me, i am shocked this is the actual way the story is progressing.
Gentle Criminal and La brava broke the series for me, most of the villains are a joke. Especially hero hunter, I dont get how the fanbase can like such a hipocritical character. But I like Muscular and the Yakusa guys.
When Edgeshot used his special move, I saw it as a serious ass-pull, even the implementation of it was pretty weird, since I thought he'd just wrap himself around Bakugo's heart and compress and relax his entire body... but regardless, MHA has gotten kind of stale and generic in recent time
I remember having a discussion with someone where I mentioned that MHA has a bloated, underutilized cast, but they routinely throw in heroes we're meant to care about right before killing them off. I talked about how there's so much space that could be utlized discussing pro heroes, especially the top 10. I even used Edgeshot as an example of someone who could be fleshed out. They said I was exaggerating and Edgeshot was not important and that's why he has no arc. My, how the tides have turned.
i said the exact same thing about midnight as well before she died. im so glad someone else shares that opinion. god just imagine how much more time we could've spent with the heroes (teachers specifically too), during... their 2nd or maybe 3rd year. before midnight died, i wish they'd spend time with little snippets of her day to day life, while tieing it nicely to, let's say.. an internship of someone else. it could feel like natural progression, while also exploring the side cast. just like they did with nighteye and mirio. we could've gotten more insight on the big three as well, (instead of shoving Nejire's backstory in the final arc LMAOOOO) it just could've all been neatly compressed over the span of 3 years in universe, instead of having this all happen in 1 year. would've made for so much more planning and breathing room, and also many more chances for the teachers and other heroes to get great screentime. but nah
It's amazing how many heroes Horikoshi badly wasted with the top 10 heroes being the worst offender since with the exception of Endeavor and Ryukyu to an extent they are barely fleshed out and in some cases like Yoroi Musha we DON'T EVEN GET TO SEE HIS QUIRK!!! How the hell can you create this idea of an elite group of heroes yet not EVEN be bothered to showcase one of their quirks thus making us wonder why is he even in the top 10 in that case?! And the less said about Star and Stripe the better.
I remember Horikoshi stating that Bakugo was supposed to play a big role in this final arc so I want to believe that there’s going to be more to him being revived than him simply dying and coming back. Hori tends to do this kind of stuff like when he had the whole fanbase believe Hagakure was the UA traitor for week only for it to be Aoyama. Hopefully I’m right because if not this would be a really strange writing choice by Hori.
My trust in Hori's writting is dead after je ended the Edgy Deku arc after 2 chapters in a boring "Friendship is magic" Moral. Only to Disprove it in the current arc were every exept Deku is useless
@@goddessyamato5238 I mean, him running around town looking like a Demon with no sleep was pritty edgy. And resolving and shifting character arcs should be more then just "Friendship". 90% of all Shonen have strong Friendship elements, but they should not be treated as a end all be all. If the characters actully addressed Deku's Selfdestructive behaviour it would have been far more satisfiying. As it stands now the manga instead opts with everyone working together being the solution, which is a downright farce as we see in the current arc were people eat shit and Deku needs to come in to save the day.
@@plinfan6541 this is a anime based off of heroes and villians friendship is definitely going to play big role. Like what else u want him to do have all these people just walk around sad and depressed half the time and these kids still in high school in a modern day setting
I see some people on Twitter say that Edgeshot's sacrifice is supposed to convey the older generation sacrificing themselves for the younger generation, but if Horikoshi wanted to convey that, then why not have Edgeshot sacrifice himself BEFORE Bakugo gets killed? If Edgeshot could take those fatal blows for Bakugo, then he could've preserved a young hero's life before trying this hail mary. Also, if Best Jeanist wanted to do something why not control Bakugo's threads and move him around like Granny Chiyo did with Sakura, or Vanessa with Asta?
Also, if ypu want to convey this theme so much, why not use Jeanist? Make Bakugo be fatally wounded in a way Jeanist can die to save him, this way we have a man who has a previous connection with Bakugou, wanted to see him improve and had actual moments in thr story showcasing how much he's willing to do what's needed for the success of a mission! It would be a beautiful moment of a former teacher, giving his life up for the bratty student he had so much high hopes for to be able to continue developing, but no, we get Edgeshot, a piece of nothing
In the end of the day, even though it's believable Edgeshot can do that, as far fetched as it is, my biggest problems are these 3: 1- The previous 2 chapters where MEANINGLESS, as Bakugou's "death" led to NOTHING, not even to Midorya getting angry and getting there on a rage mode. Just, pure bait for the readers 2- Edgeshot is a NOTHING CHARACTER! The man supposedly knew Jeanist since highschool but when Jeanist was thought dead, we got nothing from Edgeshot! A wasted opportunity to show their friendship, or to show Edgeshot being affected by it, to also showcase better how connected the heroes can be. Edgeshot was just a background cool character, perfect to be tossed aside to bring back Bakugou like a trap card you never knew was set-up 3,(The biggest one)- It robbed Jeanist of saving Bakugou! If Bakugou had been just severely damaged and was like, almost dead in a way Jeanist could help, it would be an amazing moment of a character who was one of the first to believe in Bakugou and try to help him, a character who "died" to help the heroes and the new gen, a great support who had been important in the war and brought to the light to us, a character who had a connection with Bakugou and would have given us a meaningfull moment, just like All Might with Deku, of a former big hero giving his life/strenght/faith to the next gen he helped to raise closely! That's what I hate in this chapter, it robbed Jeanist from having a great, impactful, memorable character moment with Bakugou
This, this right here. I was so on board with this being another rage baot for deku as it could lead to him having an actually amazing fight in the series....sighs....oh well.
@@GiraffeBlood Even then, what was the point of the previous chapters now? Even if Bakugou's death was supposed to some character, means nothing for the reader as we know he's still alive. If he's gonna come back awaken, it'll feel kinda cheap. If he's gonna come back changed, well, that's not the best way to finish his character development. No matter his plans, the previous 2 chapters where everyone reflected on Bakugou's death, are now muddled as, well, it didn't mattered ad he's going to come back. And, if he'a going for "This not gonna work, it'll fail" it'll just mean 2 characters will die, for maybe some very cool fight moments and a goodbye, which will still be a bit muddled by the bait and we don't even know if will be good or not. The next chapters might rederm this moment, yes, but the last two are already muddled
MHA chapter 405 spoilers: Hori somehow managed to make this chapter worse today. Today it was revealed that edge shot isn’t the reason why bakugou came back to life, IT WAS ACTUALLY BAKUGO WHO BROUGHT HIMSELF BACK TO LIFE BECAUSE “a drop of sweat ran through Bakugou’s bloodstream and exploded inside of him, activating his heart (RukasuMHA on twitter).” Edgeshot then tells Bakugou “ I only connected the parts in place. It was your quirk you strengthened over the years that brought you back (RukasaMHA on twitter).” Also, edgeshot is still alive somehow, so there’s that smh. Horikoshi’s horror manga better be a masterpiece or else his career is over.
@@Oceaniz The same goes for Gege (author of Jujutsu Kaisen) as well. It's crazy how two of my favorite mangas have been going downhill since 2021 because both authors have lost interest in their series and are trying to finish it as fast as possible so they can work on their next manga (Hori wants to make a horror manga, while Gege wants to make an idol manga).
-Bakugo was the only one that could deal damage to Shigaraki -If any student had died UA would have gotten a bad rep + they are still students, and they had to go to the battlefield this early, its not fair them dying yet.
@@felipekane9611 That first one I'll give you but a pro hero shouldn't care about a school's reputation unless they're a teacher, and if anyone was bothered by kids on the battlefield knowing full they could potentially die, they wouldn't let them on it in the first place. That's a risk they chose to take.
Horikoshi's story is suffering from "Season 8 Game of Thrones syndrome"... The saddest part about it though? He's seeing all this happen in real time and refuses to stop and pull it for resets and rewrites. It could be possible and should have been done many chapters ago, but his radio silence tells me three things: 1. He's over the fandom and doesn't care if he pisses it off 2. He's over MHA in general 3. He is more than willing to troll the fans while he destroys his creation (and probably his writing career let's be honest). No spoilers for AoT but... that ending left much to be desired--HOWEVER it made sense for the narrative.... in some ways. That's really all I ask for a finale. Is that too much to ask for?? What is going to happen to MHA? Well... have you guys ever watched Game of Thrones....?
Or his health issues are really serious and wants to give us closure, so that we don't get the Berserk treatment. Whatever the reason is, I still dislike the way things are going
Honestly with how his health has been at times, how overworked and so on due to his series hitting popularity so early on....its more than likely he desperately wants to be over and done with this series. He's spent almost a decade on this series that it more than likely burnt him out completely As much as the writing has gotten worse. I don't think he is a bad writer by any means considering the beginning arcs and series had to say. Its just seems he's no longer interested in writing bnha anymore.
Honestly it feels more like yuyu Hakusho to me - nearly the same story with the writer, too. Story made it BIG early on and shonnen jump started pushing really hard for more and more and more content. The insane hours to pump out work + the pressure and demand from the fans wears on your health and eventually you just want to move on with your life. An a fan it's disappointing to see a story end sloppily but as an artist who'd already cashed more than enough paychecks and is probably dreaming of a nice long vacation and a million OTHER projects?? 120% relatable.
Using Overhaul would have been so cool. I also wanted Overhaul to use his quirk to ease Shigaraki’s destruction by separating the ground to stop Shiggy’s decay. MHA has so much missed potential.
My hero academia took something amazing with a trillion good possibilities and boiled down into a selfish narrative that doesn't mean anything at all. All of the good things are spoiled, ruined, or broken outright. Characters we have been in love with since the series began are off-screened with comedic timing.
I love how the show every media outlet and youtuber constantly called "A breath of fresh air in subverting cliche shounen tropes" in 2016 reverts to the worst shounen tropes from a Toriyama manga 27 years older than it, in the most vital chapter of it's run. All that bragging from 2016 really made this moment hurt a lot harder.
It really wasn’t that much of a subversion compared to other series like HxH, but it did some of that decently enough, and the potential was so high and yet this is the result
The only thing I like about MHA are the villains tbh at this point. And even now I'm a bit disappointed about Shigaraki being mostly controlled by AfO when they are both amazing villains separately and I like it when they show their assets and villainy separated.
This is exactly why so many people I know like the League of Villains better then the kids, because they are allowed to actually be at risk and die. They can actually change and have character development.
My biggest problem with this whole thing is that I don't see the point of bringing Bakugo back at all when it comes to the story. Like ok he's a popular character but within the story, why is it that they need to bring back Bakugo specifically out of everyone who has died in this battle? He has failed against Shigaraki already so what does bringing him back now will contribute to the fight at hand? Is Bakugo supposed to be the main part of a plan or something and they couldn't afford to let him die because of it? Also if Edgeshot can get inside people's bodies and mess with their organs, why doesn't he just infiltrate Shigaraki and try to kill him from inside out? To me that sounds like a safer bet on winning than just reviving Bakugo and a better way to sacrifice himself. Maybe I'm missing something because I'm not invested in this series anymore and I just skim through the chapters to stay up to date with the overall story so I'd appreciate some clarity in this matter in case anyone would like to enlighten me.......
6:10 funny part is that before the Edgeshot thing there were some online thinking something like this would happen with Mawata Fuwa(aka that single 2-A student Hori showed awhile back.)
I'm not gonna front anyone for being angry but I've been genuinely enjoying what's been going on week to week. I may be brainwashed but I'm enjoying my self
To be fair I'm pretty sure he didn't know. All MIght kept his failing state a secret to everyone, he always maintained his muscle form in front of general public. ANd when it did become known All MIght had already sacrificed OfA so even if he did heal his organs All MIght wouldn't be of much help since he's pretty much quirkless now.
Not to mention, why is Bakugo even important enough to save? Edge shot is a powerful pro hero with years of experience who would be far more useful to defeating Shigaraki compared to Endeavor Lite
1. Why should someone even be important to deserve to be saved? Are you asking why do heroes save people? 2. Bakugo actually seemed stronger than all the pro heroes involved in that fight.
@@iammemys2213 1. I get the whole "prioritize the injured" thing, but this is a circumstance where you can safely throw that shit out. Priority number fucking one should be killing the man who levels literal cities. 2. Bakugo got one-shotted. What's stopping the lovecraftian horror from doing it again? Also, not even five chapters after this, Mirko kicks his ass with two prosthetic limbs, so I doubt this fifteen year old with an inferiority complex would be much more of a help.
@@zekchomenko2927 Mirko also immediately got packed just like Bakugo after doing so and only after AFO decided he’s gonna stop being scared of dead minors. Best Jeanist also mentioned that they needed his firepower to stand a chance before Bakugo decided he didn’t wanna be in this ass story anymore. They didn’t know when Deku would arrive so if it’s a case of trying to win. Obviously they revive him if they could. We know newer quirk gens have stronger quirks as a whole. Bakugo’s the only one who’s has shown lasting visible damage not named Deku.
@@Jaymizuband I know newer quirks are stronger, it's a big part of Quirk Singularity Theory (not much of a theory anymore, I suppose) after all, but why is this BARELY TRAINED 16 YEAR OLD more important than LITERAL TRAINED PROFESSIONALS. If he's the only one to do lasting damage than clearly the currently existing pros should pack their fucking bags right now since their getting outclassed by some asshole teenager. Realized this after clicking post: Mirko may have gotten folded like a half priced mattress after kicking AFO's ass for a chapter, but she still kicked his ass for a whole chapter, which considering she only has two of her original limbs, isn't half bad. Bakugo, on the other hand, got one half-decent shot in then fucking died.
I have another conspiracy theory/headcanon: this war arc was supposed to happen on 3rd year and one of bakugou internships was with edgeshot. The guy is literally a top 5 hero, the only thing we knew about him was that he is a ninja and always cool and collected. I can see a story where Bakugou loses his temper and let a villain get away, so he decides to become better and goes to the most controlled top 5 guy, edgeshot. Now edgeshot sacrifice helped makes thematic sense: two mentors help together and sacrifice a lot to save their pupil, heroism and old guard passing the torch to the new guard all tied up in a nice bow
i actually laughed when i read this chapter. even fanfics don’t stoop this low! what’s the point of killing off a character if it’s going to be reversed in two chapters? why not just knock him out instead? why the fuck did edgeshot just have a random wash bubble in his pocket just for this occasion?????
I know the out of universe reason. Bakugo is the most popular character and the deuteragonist of the series. Hori did say in a interview that fans of this character will either love it ot hate it. I just don't see anywhere else for the character to go to be honest. But yeah Hori does alot of things don't make sense other than it looks cool in his arc. It's just random bullshit.
the chapter Bakugo died, I remember telling my friends Hori backed himself into a corner. Either he kills one of the fan favorites, or he revives him in a bullshit way... but I wasn't expecting it to be this bad
The only other Shonen i can think of that actually kills important people off is Chainsawman, but i feel like we haven't seen enough of the cast to care a lot about their deaths the way JoJo did it
I believe that one of the main reasons for MHA’s decline in storytelling was due to Horikoshi’s editor being infamous in the industry for directly affecting a series’ ENTIRE story. But apparently just a little bit before that chapter was released, Horikoshi got a new editor. So when you’re saddled with controversy from your publisher and audience and your editor and essentially forced to change the story you want to tell to accommodate someone else, you don’t really want to write you story so much anymore. But I like to think that Horikoshi got a little fed up with some of the audience who essentially forced him to change his story, his publisher and editor who made sure it happened, and the moment Horikoshi got a new editor, he killed off a fan favorite character. Only to then immediately be kept on watch by the publisher so he wouldn’t pull anything that’d upset the audience which is why he has to come back and any actual interesting moments in the final battle immediately became obscure and undone. Honestly though, Horikoshi might have vented some of his frustrations from a one-off character. If no one remembers, when Dabi was revealed to have apparently been a victim of AFO, a police officer who was listening to the Doctor tell his story for some reason said that such an “important plot line” was “incredibly stupid, repetitive, and boring”. It feels like Horikoshi isn’t writing HIS story, and instead the PUBLISHER’s story. Because you don’t just make a one-off character provide such harsh meta commentary about your own series without reason.
Tying his backstory to Best Jeanist felt like a desperate attempt to make him being the one to save Bakugou matter, like, “oh we were friends in school and you mentored this kid so that’s why I’m gonna kill myself to save him”. If you want someone to die in this moment, just kill Edgeshot, this by proxy thing is just weird. I never believed for a second that Bakugou was gonna die but this self-sacrificial resurrection is such a waste. Even having Edgeshot turn his entire body into string to become Bakugou’s heart strings, why not give Jeanist that moment? It takes him out of the fight and builds on his mentor relationship. Why not give him a quirk awakening (since they’re just handing them out now apparently) that would allow him to control muscle fibre or something?
13:37-15:06 I was thinking about midnight as a another good example of a hero dying doing something courageous and it hitting hard, as she had the chance to motivate kaminari and also momo in her last moments. It also helped that we saw her throughout the series like in the sports festival, exam arc, joint training arc prior to her death in the war arc.
@@marocat4749 We didn't really see her died and her death is barely brought up again. I was hoping we see a scene if Mic and Aizawa morning her death and Aizawa tries to keep his composure but only comes off as cold and thus causes Yamada to lash out and call out Aizawa for seemingly not giving a shit. This causes a rift in their friendship
@@zemox2534 in general since the series has started to rush things we haven't had moments to breathe after major events happen, where we really discuss how people are feeling and reacting which is a total shame and a waste of these characters. The series was fairly emotionally intelligent at times and now it feels like the only thing that matters is moving from plot point to plot point and battles which is kind of how I find modern Shonen fans prefer content these days, that makes me sad.
This has been a problem since the war started. There's no setup, only payoff. For the war arc specifically it still kinda worked since earlier parts of the story still laid enough groundwork for payoffs to be satisfying (Dabi, Twice etc.). We saw early signs of a problem arising because of this, primarily with Mirio, where the big "payoff" came out of nowhere and had to be rationalized later, and it felt incredibly forced. Those occurences only became more frequent as time went on, since we basically got no downtime to setup big character moments anymore, so those payoffs feel really empty and have to be explained in the aftermath, rather than being the culmination of previous setup.
Edge shot pulled up and said EdgeShot: Don't worry, I'll turn into his heart and I will die. Backugo: EdgeShot: Tell my family I loved them Backugo: EdgeShot: 🫀
I honestly agree. Working at weekly jump is usually harder that monthly, and it could contribute to Horikoshi burning out. Also it seems that hes already tires of his story, and it's sad. It would been grate if Horikoshi took one month hiatus to rest and refresh himself a little.
Can we just give credit to one of the most nonsensical lines? "This stopped heart belongs to a life we can ill afford to lose." Like, what? Edgeshot, you are a hero with years of experience and hundreds of saved lives under your belt. You have trained probably most of your life, have moved up the hero rankings, and even helped in the rescue operation of this same child. What on God's green earth ever gave you the impression that this dumpster fire of a human being that has slowly changed into a campfire is somehow a life you could and should sacrifice your own for? What events led you to this asinine conclusion?
You’re thinking too rationally about it. He’s a hero, and he sees someone whose life he can save. That’s all it really needs to be. He’s not doing a cost benefit analysis I’m his head, because that’s not what being a hero is about
@@wait_in_gold_ON_SPOTIFY Thats not the point, the point is of all people he does this on, why Bakugo of all characters? This guy has definitely seen a fair share of death before, why is this the one he suddenly wants to end it all for?

@@Jaymizubandyou're telling between a guy who can no clip on command A kaiju with a lazer and stomachache posing as an introvert And a plucky girl who could drown you in a river of her own life force Can't seem to do as much damage as a doughnut dipped in nitroglycerin Might I add those 3 were comparable to pro heroes and even the no 1 hero and are the top of not just their class but the entire f*cking school Can't seem to damage shigaraki Yeah I'm calling bull
I'm okay with Bakugo dying, but there's two things that have to happen when he goes out: 1. He has to die landing one of the final shots, or an extremely vital hit, against the enemy. He has to die winning. Period. 2. Deku has to see it and be there. Deku has to see his favorite active hero's final moment. His final win. He saw him grow up, he has to see him die. These are simple facts that are supported by the series, his character, and common sense.
I'm surprised Edgeshot didn't use a lesser version of this ability to fix All Might's damaged internal organs, considering I presume it'll be easier than fixing an EXPLODED HEART
@@soyalguienqueestamuyaburri8396 yeah fair enough, pumping blood's probably a lot easier than fixing someone's endocrine system, though was it ever mentioned what organ got ruptured during All Might's fight? must've been crippling for him to be reduced to that state
I know this is a shounen, but… does Horikoshi even understand how medically implausible this is? Even if Edgeshot is able to use his body to “restart” Bakugo’s heart, Bakugo’s immune system is going to recognize Edgeshot as a foreign object and attack him. Not to mention Edgeshot would just decompose eventually since he’s apparently going to die.
So, I think the goal was Edgeshot was sacrificing himself for the sake of the future generation. However, the method (which is beyond stupid for the reasons you stated) and lack of well-built connection with anyone causes this goal to completely fail since it has no meaning.
This, by far, has to be the single stupidest thing in this series. If Bakugou died, for real, the fact that his character barely evolves could've been interpreted as a lesson in raising someone with specific expectations, causing them to crash and burn when that early lifestyle and ego causes them to choke. Sortof like how the majority of "gifted" students are special needs, but instead we just lump them in with everyone else except we also fuel their ego so they get a false sense of superiority. If Bakugou stayed dead, his final thoughts to understanding how Izuku felt, to constantly struggle to obtain his goals, would've been amazing meta commentary regarding how society overlooks greatness when it doesn't come from great places. But, no. Instead, we get Zombiegou. I can only hope that he collapses dead on the spot once the arc is over, so we can get at least a hint at a proper arc.
Fake-out deaths in anime are just a never-ending source of disappointment. They waste so much potential for genuinely emotional and impactful stakes and story beats, and almost always feel cheap and unsatisfying. And I hate that this is such a common thing.
I think the general theme of this chapter is good, the older generation sacrificing things so they can make the lives of younger generations better. The problem is that it’s done in a very… weird way, to say the least. It also doesn’t help that AFO clearly doesn’t intend to sacrifice anything for Shigaraki. I’d really like to see what MHA would look like if it kept going in the direction of MVA and the start of the war arc, where themes are actually acted upon rather than just telling us the theme.
Well I must interject about AFO not sacrificing for Shigaraki because AFO clearly stated that the rewind Quirk he used on himself was gonna bleep him out of existence at some point. He reversed the damage and aging that ravaged him over the years but he knows he's not gonna make it out of this alive so his only intention at this point is to unite with Shigaraki and ruin the Hero's main strategy of keeping them separated. He has every intention of leaving everything to Shigaraki... even though he's nothing more than an alter ego of AFO at this point...
@@white0thunderwhite0thunder71 Well that’s pretty much what I’m saying. The moment would be really cool and interesting on its own if we knew AFO hasn’t already hijacked Shigaraki. AFO isn’t really sacrificing himself if he’s still living and controlling Shigaraki, y’know?
@@charltinion5615 True... They had a GREAT and MOTIVATED antagonist ready to tear the world a new ass hole and they destroyed him so they can stick with the "Good" vs "Evil" trope that sells (Well sold...) so well for old school American comics. And AFO showing his affection and dedication for the son he was so proud of in the beginning with his self-sacrifice and passing on the torch to the new generation showing that heroes don't have a monopoly on heroic endings would've been the perfect middle finger towards the Hero society who promoted such values like a generic T-shirt brand. GOD I am disappointed in Horikoshi...
That was the chapter that made me think "ok i'm done with MHA" Like, for the first time in my life I stopped reading a story that I knew it got worse without thinking about "I already read that far so I'm just gonna keep reading to know how it end" It's so sad that the story was the one I used to love so much
As a writer i find it utterly stupid that mangakas find it THAT hard to just make even the slightest backstory for a side character. Why is it that every last pinch of development goes to people that have ties with the main character or ARE a main character? it would be so much more fufilling and satisfying if we saw more outside of that cast, but apparently that is just too difficult
This shows that edgeshot was all an plot device... plot devices can be used to make an story progress, espcially for mangakas who aren't good at writing but even before this arc,, it should've played our different so that it would've been believed for the readers. But horikoshi is doing this weekly while he planned mha to be way shorter than this, so yeh..
@@KIKAN_THE_RAT i do read better mangas actually, hxh, berserk, vagabond, chainsaw man and all that, mha was just one of my favourites back in grade 6 so it sucks to see it fall from grace
I feel Horikoshi was reading One Piece chapter 781, when Donquixote Doflamingo use his power to repair his heart and forgot MHA world isn't like the One Piece world Horikoshi could have just use Recovery Girl, she have an ability to fully heal someone but it'll cost her life or Suneater eats Bakugo's heart and make a new one at the cost of his life or Shigaraki was able to steal Bakugo's qurik, but Bakugo's qurik was able to fight back and use Shigaraki to clone an new body for himself and killing All For One so we could have Shigaraki be the main villain
It actually can work, not only jeanist was manipulating the fibers from the hearth, we just needed a final touch of fixing the missing part of Bakugo's hearth, and thats where edgeshot comes in. Even tho, both animes dont make sense (mha made more sense tho).
Now He is back... The amount of bullshit Horikoshi had to pull out of his ass to wrote Bakugo out of the Story for a year/a couple of chapters is just stupid. At this point why just Not knock him out with a big attack instead of "killing" him off and just stop Shigaraki of making the final blow.
I think a better way this could’ve been implement if bakugo still had to die/almost die is that his heart gets reasonably punctured instead of it bursting and parts destroyed. Then Edgeshot has to become temporary stitching to close the puncture wound, sacrificing himself in the process to keep the wound closed as becoming too thin is fatal (you can reasonably find this out by getting close to fatal thinness but not actually getting that thin). Then Genist could try and use fibers to manual pump backugo’s heart if it has stopped. I still think that this is pretty dumb, but it feels way less dumb and more plausible than what actually happened
The past few chapters of MHA have some of the goofiest writing I've ever seen in this manga. At this point, I'm waiting for Eri to show up and erase everyone out of existence
I love MHA and have so much admiration and respect for Hori as a writer but it needs to be said. This bait and switch is just one example of the quality of the writing taking a nosedive as we approach the end of the series. It’s like the plane is landing but the experience is anything but smooth. I just hope Hori is trying to take care of his health as best as he can during these times.
I don't know, I like the take some others have made that Edgeshot's sacrifice encapsulates the overarching theme of the old heroes paving the way for the new generation. That's just me.
Agreed. I also liked how his initial “death” encapsulated the failures of the previous generation too. Right now, he should be about to enter the second year. He should have discovered the technique that (would have) killed him in a controlled and safe environment. A battle, or training session, where stakes are incredibly low compared to a fight where humanity is on the line. He should have had the guidance of his mentors to slowly build up the technique and his body after its discovery to make it into a safe and powerful combat skill. Instead, thanks to the previous generation failing, he’s been pushed into a real battlefield in place of the experienced heroes that should be there. Two full years early. Instead of having the time to develop his powers, he’s been pushed into the most intense battle in the history of hero society. In the moment of stress, he discovered that technique and let it all out with zero control because if he held back, everyone could die. Leading to his death, which could have been avoided had he discovered the technique in the way he should have. I guess Edgeshot’s sacrifice could be seen as the older generation trying to make up for those mistakes, but there’s still a price they have to pay. I don’t personally have a problem with this specific arc going on at the moment or the way Bakugo is handled. I think I would have liked it either way. Bakugo’s arc would have ended early in a way that makes sense, even if he hadn’t achieved his goals or reached his full potential. I would have been a bit disappointed, but he would have died a true hero, sacrificing himself for others. But I’m glad he’ll get a chance to (hopefully) reach that potential and (hopefully) get a major moment of triumph. I can understand why people don’t like fakeout deaths, especially if they’re used to seeing them over and over.
It does do that but... It's pointless. For you to build a moment like that, in a history, it needs to come from someone important. A constrast I could give os Crust's death. He sacrificed himself for Aizawa, but he was just that, a small foil to showcase us how those heroes are ready to sacrifice themselves for the "greater good" if it'll give them a chance of victory. But this Edgeshot moment is bad at doing this cause, you have Jeanist there. Someone with an actual connection to Bakugou which would've made this moment feel more meaningful Or, if Edgeshot was indeed an actual character with a personality, backstory, connections and screentime. Yrah, it can be thematically accurate, and we could even say it representa the theme, but it doesn't change the fact it was bad written and a waste of a character. It came out of nowhere, at the cost of using a character who would encapsulate this moment much better
I was hoping Bakugo would actually die since his arc is complete and his death would have a profound impact on Midoriya. At the very least, I'm hoping they'll kill off a member of Class 1-A, and Bakugo seemed like the perfect candidate.
Reading your comment, I don't think his arc is complete. I think it will be complete when he realises and accepts that his power will never be at par with OFA and becoming a good hero is more important than being the no 1 hero🤔
It´s funny to see people act like this is THE example of Bakugo ruining the plot...while there are many instances of his plot armor all over the place. -Not being called out early for his douchery? Check. -Aizawa not expelling him on the first day of class? -Bakugo surviving taunting the League of Villains in their own turf and Shigaraki not losing his patience and dusting him, given his impulsiveness? Check. -Bakugo winning the Sports Festival for reasons? Check. -The first fight against Shigaraki after the timeskip, when Bakugo pgot impaled by those spike things and surviving that? Check. We all know that since he is the "rival" of the protagonist, there is no way in hell that Horikoshi will kill him. He is just following the trend set up by Toriyama with Vegeta and later continued by Kishimoto with Sasuke.
That's how I felt. Is the Edgeshot thing stupid? Sure, but it's SO much better than killing Bakugo in that way. It had to be one of the worst character deaths I've ever seen. It accomplished nothing and went COMPLETELY against Bakugo as a character and MHA as a whole and would have proved Vigilante Deku right.
@@thirstquencher4631 you talking like that is his fault lol. If you were in his place you would be doing it any better. Dude, he is a child, their deaths had nothing to do with him. Actually, he never killed a single person lol. Bakugou was the only person in that battlefield who was able to scratch Shigaraki, without him Deku would be dead and he would still be going rougue. You are a hater, its cute.
It's so weird too, we see Bakugou a good amount...but seldom is it for character progression. He's more like a weapon than a character, shit needs to get done but theres no time for glittery flashback or introspection? Throw in the coded sociopath, because let's be honest...
@@quesproductions7170 OK. Did any of you read the story?@ bakugo grew and matured with each arc he appeared in. Near the end of villain hunt he apologised to Deku for being a jerk! Look at the current arc, he told Jeanist to look after the others showumh his concern for them. He took a bullet 4 Deku and almost died due to Izuku being a RECKLESS idiot. And yet you guys call Bakugo RECKLESS?! LookI hate MHA right now but unlike you blind fools I still remember the things it got right in the past, like the great character arc for Bakugo. And yet you guys are letting you hatred of the series blind you and ignore shit that clearly happened in the story.
The way you described how nearly every chapter needs to end on a cliffhanger perfectly encapsulates how I've felt about this manga since the stars n stripes battle concluded. Everytime I read a new chapter it feels like so much is said but at the same time, when I finish the chapter it feels like nothing new happens to move the story forward at all. It's a weird contradiction but the fact that the hype moments are saved for the final page and are then resolved nearly instantly or are just bait and switches (UA traitor) for many chapters kills the pacing for me
The fact that Horikoshi also refuses to permanently injure or kill any important character that isn’t a woman, it is also pretty fucking weird. Midnight is dead, Mirko lost three limbs, very recently another very important, female character died. Curious died. Meanwhile the only male character of importance that actually bit it is Twice.
I mean, Twice dying is far more impactful and important than all these character deaths combined even the "important female character". If you want to use Midnight or Curious you should use Nigtheye or Crust too. Mirko lost 3 limbs but there are other characters who also lost limbs or got heavy injuries. Compress lost one of his arms, Overhaul lost both of them, Re-Destro lost his legs, Hawks lost his wings and later his quirk, Endeavor lost an arm, Dabi is burning to the point that he's bones, Iida's brother is in a wheelchair and can not use his quirk, Bakugo's beatdown and "death", Aizawa lost his leg and cannot use his quirk, etc.
not only is it a "Random guy" but that "Random guy" is one of the TOP heros. That is like allmight seeing someone die and decided that that one guy is more important than his entire career. It isnt even a "we might not make it out of this" situation, it is LITERALLY killing himself for some random kid. a few minutes later he mentions it
I think this just needed more set up, like for example, if we seen edge get BODIED earlier in the fight, and then when Bakugo went down we seen him crawling to him, as a LAST DITCH effort before he dies to save someone, cause though he is a nothing character to us, in the world of my hero, he is still the number 4 hero. This is a dumb theory but I think this will make some sort of mix of powers or Bakugo could use both of powers. Would make no sense but why not. Them become heart surgeons in the middle of a warzone don't either
Gonna be a bit of devils advocate here. I think what Edgeshot is doing is pretty cool from what we’ve seen of his powers. I dont mind whats happening. I feel my apprehention comes from the fact this is the second fake out death. If the whole AFO thing didnt happen and this was our FIRST, OMG is Bakugo dead moment, maybe we’d be more receptive. Basically this moment feels worse cause weve gone this like maybe not more than one arc before
But the thing is that what happen with Bakugo definitely was not a fakeout death. He got stabbed and that’s about it. Endeavor took a more fatal wound than Bakugo did.
The stab was never a death scene. Nothing about that scene was portrayed as a death, this was a scene portrayed as a death scene. So much so that the next time we see Bakugou he is getting up and Iida says he is alive.
I like what’s edgeshot is doing too. It’s not much of a connection but I interpret is as heroes in general trying to do better. Bakugou was failed several times by the adults, so him being saved by the pro-heroes shows that hero society is getting better. (English isn’t my first language sorry haha)
as much as i enjoy bakugo as a character, they either shouldn't have done a fake out in the first place or they should've killed him off fr 💀 i hate when writers can't stick to what they do and proceed to basically erase it in the next chapter. even if they WERE gonna do a fake out, edgeshot sacrificing himself doesn't make us feel anything bcs we haven't grown especially attached to him unlike with bakugo or even as an earlier example, nighteye. they could've had best jeanist lie about his heartbeat and rush him out of there. not everything has to be huge and dramatic its okay for things to be slow paced and calm, in fact that adds more to the story.
SPOILERS: To be honest…every touching and good moment is being erased by the classic cliché of the villain saying “NOPE I’M WINNING NOW” and the hero replying “NOPE I’M NOW!” For like 4 times in a single fight hahahah Even this moment of Bakugou, its so touching and sad, but at the end you realize that all those scenes were useless and get spoiled by the fact of the “resurrection”. Even for Endeavor “I’ll keep hating myself” moment was so great but SIKE! “REGENERATION TIME HAHA!” Oh fuck you for real (its just an opinion obv for fun, but also geez… hahahah)
To be honest, Bakugo's _death_ was the most shocking yet bittersweet and beautiful at the same time. Imagine a character filled with ego and hatred towards Deku from the very beginning until it shows his soft side in which his simple wish is to let All Might sign his limited edition hero card which he got during childhood. Of course, I already expected that he will revived. *But not on this way* . Feels like I'm re-reading Tsubasa Chronicles manga again. 🙄
I have pretty mixed feeling about it over all. Because on one hand I hated the way that Bakugo was killed off. It had its moments like with him wishing he'd gotten the autograph, but the reason for it was horrible. I mean it's so reductive of Bakugo as a character to kill him off just for the sake of giving Deku more angst. It would have been a terrible move if they'd committed to his death because that would have meant that the entire reason we spent so much time with Bakugo, so much time put towards developing his relationship with Deku and his redemption and slowly watching him change and grow as a person, all was just so he could get close to Deku again so they could fridge him just to make the final fight even cooler. That's not to say killing him off couldn't have worked at all, I think if he'd died when Skigaraki stabbed him it would have been a wonderful send off to have Bakugo sacrifice his life to save Deku in a move that reflects the way Deku saved him in the beginning of the story and really shows how much he'd turned around. That would have worked, where Skigaraki killing him with the intention of just making Deku mad was stupid and boxes Bakugo in as just someone close to Deku and is super reductive as him as a character. Also I really really hate how it's pretty obvious that the only reason Horikoshi is doing this in the first place is so he could end the chapters with cliff hangers. It's the same thing he did with bringing Mirio's quirk back, or the revel of the traitor, or hell even Bakugo's first fake out death. All only shoved in at the very end of the chapter so they can leave it off on a big cliff hanger to keep readers wanting more, instead of actually using those things well in the story. And it's super apparent that that's the entire reason it's happening sense this plot line is literally only brought up right at the end of the chapter and always ends on some big revel or big thing happening to make us gasp and wonder what's gonna happen next. Which really shows that it was never in the plan for the story for Bakugo to actually die, so Horikoshi has to come up with all kinds of stupid reasons to keep raising the stakes and hand wave whatever he wants to make it work. Like we see with whatever the fuck they're doing with Edgeshot right now. So on one hand I'm glad that they didn't actually kill him off because of how that would have treated his character. But on the other I'm just disappointed it's happening at all. It really just seems like Horikoshi needed Bakugo out of the fight and also some big drama to make cliff hangers for to stall until Deku could get there. Which just shows how little he seems to actually care about the story anymore which is super disappointing.
I know some people also say this moment works because it’s the old generation paving the way for the new one but given the fact bakugo literally just died…and the main characters + the pros have been failing to stop the league/army repeatedly across the series, the idea doesn’t really work for me, it just kinda feels like all might was right that the world did continuously need him since they clearly can’t function or do anything right without him, why trust the next generation? They’re failures (a problem the buu saga had in making everyone else fail in contrived ways when they were supposed to take up the task of defending the world) at this rate all might should just ask midoriya for his quirk back, have eri fix his scars and have him go back to being a nigh invincible god for a good few decades (I obviously wouldn’t want this, but the more this story has gone on post the war it low key does feel like the themes of succession have been tarnished when no one can successfully beat the villains or get anything more than half victories at best when they were supposed to have learned something and prove they can function without all might, it should never have gotten to this point of a societal collapse and literal near apocalypse)
Based on how edgeshot's powers work he shouldnt die from this. I mean he doesn't die when he is just a floating head attached to what is basically a string(which doesn't make much sense in the first place since that makes him extremely op) so how is he gonna die by just becoming string that will be shaped like a heart? Again lets some how believe that jeanist or edgeshot (whoever makes him a heart) knows the shape of a heart and the surrounding vessels perfectly, and that it's possible to make it with string and how to perfectly reattch everything together etc. Let's also assume that they can also close up the gaping hole in bakugo's chest and reform the ribs so his heart doesn't just pop out of the chest. And after all that if edgeshot is still alive after that which i believe he should be. Wtf kind of existance is it beeing somebody's heart? How are you in anyway alive then it makesno lick of sense? If he can think and have a wareness of himself(somehow) does he permenently live inside someones body🤣or if not then he is basically dead which leads me back to the fact that his powers make no lick of sense. And for anyone coming at me saying: Bro it's a manga, does shoto throwing fire out of his body make more sense and this doesn't? Well no but the workings of shoto's power doesn't impact the plot so deeply or acttually at all. Even the fact that this made me think of all of this simply makes it bad writing and ESPECIALLY because a main character's life depends on the workings of this hax quirk. This would not be as big a problem either if the quirk rules were more solid or if the plot didn't hinge on it so much. There's also a lot of other things that, even though i only know basic anatomy like everybody else(including horikoshi), simply don't make sense like: what about brain damage from lack of oxygen. I'm not saying dive into all of that, i'm saying don't dig yourself into this hole(get it?) and respect your audience's intelligence. You could easily avoid the matter with a billion other explanations. Another point is are we supposed to believe that, are we supposed to believe that bakugo starts fighting after this immidietely? He didn't have just a vague injury, nor got healed by some vague healing powers, quite the opposite for both of those. That means that it should be some time before he wakes up, which makes this decision really stupid from edgeshot since they are fighting a really important to beat bad guy that is gonna do really bad thing that will impact everyone if he succeeds. Not only is risking your life for him stupid. Even wasting more than a moment on grieveing for his death is absurd because very much alive people are fighting said op bad guy in fron of yo, propably also about to die. Maybe ty and back them up and keep those already alive safe and not risk dying for nothing and definetely wasting valuable time? I would say it is a tough choice but it honestly isn't. It is ''try to save the world'' or ''stupid'' actions and guess what they choose? And theree are other things i'm sure. I've read many manga and watched many anime( and a ton of shonen) but neverhave i ever dived this deep in such a stupid detail. It is bad, just bad. if bakugo ens up survving this i don't know if i'll be happy that i'll get to see more of one of my fav characters or sad that he is propably not getting a better written end to his story than the one that he was going to get by permenenteley dying in this fight Yes i maybe mide such things more than the average person but it becomes so much worse when the author basically tells me look at this cool thing(random contrivance) i thought of. Look at it! Well i am looking at it and it is BS. And all of that is just for the bullshit of this scene from a more technical prespective. Don't get me started on the actual writing and plot. Aghh Reguardless, great video oceaniz.
i think the best thing they can do is the revival fails, giving bakugo 5m or so to say goodbye the his friends maybe the heart dont work as planned etc about the ninja guy idk xd. i dint think if he still dies means our time was wasted because the "oh i can be his heart" thing was random and it didn't took 3 chapter to built up it was quick if you know what i mean.
always think of Ace (One Piece) in these moments. Let dead characters stay dead. It's way better if it actually MEANS something. I didn't believe they'd stay Bakugou dead for even a sec so it didn't do anything for me while reading. Well, maybe I rolled my eyes over it.
Thank you so much for your take on this, the whole clown car that this story has become is an embarrassment to story telling. And I would argue that Bakugo never earned this death, he is a nothing character. He is a poor rival to Izuku who has no other relevance to the plot, with no actual antagonists that challenge his perspective or really make him change. He never really changes through the story, with his physical abuse of Izuku being carried into comedy like when he threw a sharp headpiece into Izuku's skull. Not only did his ten years of bullying and Quirkism to Izuku and others not get properly addressed, but he never faces direct consequences of his actions. He tried to kill Izuku during the Battle Trials, prevented Thirteen from detaining Kurogiri in time by attacking the shadow man with Kirishima thus endangering everyone, even contradicted Aizawa's words in the sports festival by basically admitting he was toying around with Ochaco and assuming her plan was only created by Izuku. He is not properly reprimanded or made to change, despite remaining a piece of shit, that Kirishima and Mina support despite being against bullying. With all of his crimes, he shouldn't even be a hero, but the story bends about to put him on top, ruining Class 1-A, Aizawa and now Edgeshot and Best Jeanist. I didn't care if he lived or died, because he never should have lasted to this scene in the first place. It would have been better for the story if he was expelled after the USJ incident, having to develop outside of his dream being dead.
As a non-manga reader, and a heavy lover of fanficitons, I had heard through the grapevine that it was MIDORIYA who gave his heart (literally) to Bakugou in surgery. It never explained HOW both characters could live past that but I figured that perhaps Eri would come in a reset the boys like she did for Mirio's Quirk. I thought this was awesome since Bakugou and Midoriya have a deep relationship (one-sided or not, at least they know each other) because this would explore their dynamic somewhat. So, my disappointment was tangible when I discovered it was Edgeshot, a character I couldn't even put a face to until now. And about Edgeshot's plan, let's not forget the fact that if Edgeshot dies, his Quirk will stop working so Bakugou's heart is fucked anyway! :D Hori should've left him for dead.
oh this development was bizarre and out of left field for sure. I will STRETCH myself for this, just a moment. Have Jeanist do the stitching, have him struggle with the pain of using his best friend's life and body to revive his protege. THAT could be some emotional development for the story...if it were going to stick around for like 3 more arcs so we could do something with it X)
I hope this isn’t a way to set up Bakugo becoming more powerful and playing a big role in the defeat of Afo and Shigaraki, but I’m afraid it will be something like that. Like edgeshot made him immortal or something by healing every injury he sustains. And maybe to make things more dramatic Bakugo will save the world with edgeshot’s help and then die. I can totally imagine edgeshot’s will living on and making Bakugo so strong for all the horny fangirls that want to see him shine.
It could've worked better if y'know EDGESHOT THINKS HE'S ABOUT TO DIE AND SHOULD'VE FOUGHT WITH ENDEAVOR AGAINST AFO. THAT WAY Hori could give him the said Backstory and him thinking "this is it, this is his final fight". And then whatever happens in the manga happens, that way, Edgeshot could've been a more established and likeable character before he sacrifices himself
-Bakugo gets random, yet interesting power up -Uses it for all of 2 pages before getting punked -Heart explodes, but it's not clear whether it's from his quirk or the punch(why would a punch explode a heart) -"I will become the boy's heart" -Bakugo loses again, because he's still not any stronger than 5 seconds ago. This chapter is only the cherry on top. This entire Bakugo death sequence has been laughable.
Well, yeah. Katsuki already used everything he got. So how would his revive help anything? Unless... the protagonist Mary Sue will arrive at the moment and defeat Shigaraki.
This "His heart exploded dude" is very stupid to me. I read and re-read that chapter over and over again and nothing about it indicates that it *exploded* like everybody says it did. "oH bUt HiS qUiRk AwAkEnInG" yeah, but the last shot we see of his heart it wasnt exploded, his was getting pierced not exploding.

I feel like this series has a very bad habit of trying to cash in on the emotional deaths of characters who just never really had enough screen-time.
This is exactly how I feel towards this series and the recent chapters too lmaoo, it's going to be a very entertaining disaster
When Edgeshot used his special move, I saw it as a serious ass-pull, even the implementation of it was pretty weird, since I thought he'd just wrap himself around Bakugo's heart and compress and relax his entire body... but regardless, MHA has gotten kind of stale and generic in recent time
I didnt expect him to stay dead, but I also didnt expect it to be handled so comically bad, i honestly laughed as I read it.
How is it bad?

@@vcamv2354eanist don't even have to die since he just controls fiber and denim and junk
Or at the very least let them work together to save him
In the end of the day, even though it's believable Edgeshot can do that, as far fetched as it is, my biggest problems are these 3:
1- The previous 2 chapters where MEANINGLESS, as Bakugou's "death" led to NOTHING, not even to Midorya getting angry and getting there on a rage mode. Just, pure bait for the readers
2- Edgeshot is a NOTHING CHARACTER! The man supposedly knew Jeanist since highschool but when Jeanist was thought dead, we got nothing from Edgeshot! A wasted opportunity to show their friendship, or to show Edgeshot being affected by it, to also showcase better how connected the heroes can be. Edgeshot was just a background cool character, perfect to be tossed aside to bring back Bakugou like a trap card you never knew was set-up
3,(The biggest one)- It robbed Jeanist of saving Bakugou!
Points 2 and 3 are fair, but point 1 is definitely too early to say. We don’t know what Hori has planned for why he did this
@@GiraffeBlood Even then, what was the point of the previous chapters now?
I agree, I expected Izuku to go Berserk, but then nothing happened! WTH!!
Jeanist only control fibres so they would've been no way for him to help.
MHA chapter 405 spoilers:
Hori somehow managed to make this chapter worse today. Horikoshi's story is suffering from "Season 8 Game of Thrones syndrome"... The saddest part about it though?
He's seeing all this happen in real time and refuses to stop and pull it for resets and rewrites. It could be possible and should have been done many chapters ago, but his radio silence tells me three things:
1. He's over the fandom and doesn't care if he pisses it off
2. He's over MHA in general
This is so painful and sad...i really loved this manga
Or his health issues are really serious and wants to give us closure, so that we don't get the Berserk treatment. Whatever the reason is, I still dislike the way things are going
The comparison the AoT's ending is totally on point. Great stories, ruined by the way they ended.
Honestly with how his health has been at times, how overworked and so on due to his series hitting popularity so early on....its more than likely he desperately wants to be over and done with this series. He's spent almost a decade on this series that it more than likely burnt him out completely
As much as the writing has gotten worse.

This is exactly why so many people I know like the League of Villains better then the kids, because they are allowed to actually be at risk and die. They can actually change and have character development.
Nobody is talking about how weird it would look in world for a hero with way more experience to suddenly sacrifice himself for some dead high-schooler
Thank you so much for this comment. I think the same.
I’m late but you have to understand. In that fight, bakugo did the most damage in the fight. He was the only one to make Shiggy actually try

Bakugo is the most popular character and the deuteragonist of the series. Hori did say in a interview that fans of this character will either love it ot hate it. I just don't see anywhere else for the character to go to be honest.

@@zemox2534 in general since the series has started to rush things we haven't had moments to breathe after major events happen, where we really discuss how people are feeling and reacting which is a total shame and a waste of these characters. What if she lived
And died saving bakugou here?

As someone who has lost interest in mha at least a year ago, what the actual hell… what are they doing at this point 💀
They didn't even try to utilize Eri's abilities. Mirio got his powers back with nothing else to come with it.
That was the chapter that made me think "ok i'm done with MHA"
Like, for the first time in my life I stopped reading a story that I knew it got worse without thinking about "I already read that far so I'm just gonna keep reading to know how it end"
It's so sad that the story was the one I used to love so much
As a writer i find it utterly stupid that mangakas find it THAT hard to just make even the slightest backstory for a side character.
Honestly you just need to read better manga this one only has good character designs everything else is trash
@@KIKAN_THE_RAT i do read better mangas actually, hxh, berserk, vagabond, chainsaw man and all that, mha was just one of my favourites back in grade 6 so it sucks to see it fall from grace
I feel Horikoshi was reading One Piece chapter 781, when Donquixote Doflamingo use his power to repair his heart and forgot MHA world isn't like the One Piece world
Horikoshi could have just use Recovery Girl, she have an ability to fully heal someone but it'll cost her life or Suneater eats Bakugo's heart and make a new one at the cost of his life or Shigaraki was able to steal Bakugo's qurik, but Bakugo's qurik was able to fight back and use Shigaraki to clone an new body for himself and killing All For One so we could have Shigaraki be the main villain
Hori really went with the worst idea possible
@@thirstquencher4631 Bakugo was trying to save his fucking friend who was being reckless dude! Did you want him to stand there and do nothing?!
Someone with an actual connection to Bakugou which would've made this moment feel more meaningful
Or, if Edgeshot was indeed an actual character with a personality, backstory, connections and screentime.
Lmao they killed Midnight but that didn't even affect them.
Meanwhile somewhere in prison:
Overhaul is just sitting in a room counting the minutes until he's ex-machina'd into usefulness
Idk I wanna hear more about this John R. Evivor guy
Yeah, no. Bakugo's death as it is, IS NOT a sweet send-off for the character. Especially when he's so underdeveloped
@@thirstquencher4631 brats always deserve a narrative chance to become better people, unless the author explicitly says they don't
It's a weird contradiction but the fact that the hype moments are saved for the final page and are then resolved nearly instantly or are just bait and switches (UA traitor) for many chapters kills the pacing for me
Love your videos. You're voicing my concerns about MHA completely so I'm glad it's not just me who feels that way about this show
The fact that Horikoshi also refuses to permanently injure or kill any important character that isn’t a woman, it is also pretty fucking weird.
Midnight is dead, Mirko lost three limbs, very recently another very important, female character died. Curious died.
Meanwhile the only male character of importance that actually bit it is Twice.
ON GODDD
Didn't even notice that that is weird lmfaoo
Endevour lost an arm and Night Eye died. Gran Torino might have died (?) Although your point still stands.
not only is it a "Random guy" but that "Random guy" is one of the TOP heros.
When I saw that bakugan died I was like "finally" but then I realized he will eventually be revived. So it's whatever to me, lol
I blame my juvenile sense of humor for laughing at Bakugan this much
"Bakugan" 💀
as much as i enjoy bakugo as a character, they either shouldn't have done a fake out in the first place or they should've killed him off fr 💀 i hate when writers can't stick to what they do and proceed to basically erase it in the next chapter. even if they WERE gonna do a fake out, edgeshot sacrificing himself doesn't make us feel anything bcs we haven't grown especially attached to him unlike with bakugo or even as an earlier example, nighteye. they could've had best jeanist lie about his heartbeat and rush him out of there. not everything has to be huge and dramatic its okay for things to be slow paced and calm, in fact that adds more to the story.
all the enemy evolve because pressure and became stronger but all the heroes just there like monkey
SPOILERS:
To be honest…every touching and good moment is being erased by the classic cliché of the villain saying “NOPE I’M WINNING NOW” and the hero replying “NOPE I’M NOW!” For like 4 times in a single fight hahahah
Even this moment of Bakugou, its so touching and sad, but at the end you realize that all those scenes were useless and get spoiled by the fact of the “resurrection”.
It is bad, just bad. if bakugo ens up survving this i don't know if i'll be happy that i'll get to see more of one of my fav characters or sad that he is propably not getting a better written end to his story than the one that he was going to get by permenenteley dying in this fight
Yes i maybe mide such things more than the average person but it becomes so much worse when the author basically tells me look at this cool thing(random contrivance) i thought of. Look at it! Well i am looking at it and it is BS.
And all of that is just for the bullshit of this scene from a more technical prespective. Don't get me started on the actual writing and plot. Aghh
Reguardless, great video oceaniz.
i think the best thing they can do is the revival fails, giving bakugo 5m or so to say goodbye the his friends maybe the heart dont work as planned etc about the ninja guy idk xd. i dint think if he still dies means our time was wasted because the "oh i can be his heart" thing was random and it didn't took 3 chapter to built up it was quick if you know what i mean.
Literally the final arc and the writer still doesn’t have the balls to kill anybody important, this manga is a joke.
Idk why the autor doesnt just take a fucking break from the series instead of pulling a game of thrones like this
always think of Ace (One Piece) in these moments.
Imo this stretched way of saving him will at least have a huge impact on his character
I turned myself into a heart Bakugo! I'm Heart Edgeshot!
Edgeshot isn’t a random guy, he IS one of the Top Ten. But he was NOT prepared properly.
Ruin a character whole development 101 : Revive him after he died accomplishing what he worked for.
THAT could be some emotional development for the story...if it were going to stick around for like 3 more arcs so we could do something with it X)
and I thought luffy's gear fifth was a desu ex machina.
-Bakugo gets random, yet interesting power up
-Uses it for all of 2 pages before getting punked
-Heart explodes, but it's not clear whether it's from his quirk or the punch(why would a punch explode a heart)
-"I will become the boy's heart"
-Bakugo loses again, because he's still not any stronger than 5 seconds ago.
