The best one-liner AFO could give to Izuku at this point would be, "Midoriya Izuku, I know your father." And then give a specific comment about what country or place he is at the moment.
Giving Midoriya a father was entirely pointless. Honestly could have just written him as dead and Inko is a widow that lived off his life insurance or something
or, or, they could just... made him have a dad in the same way he has a mom. as in, he shows up every once and again, just to show that he exists before going back into irrelevancy... not every hero need to be an orphan.

Not only did Afo already have an "I am your father" type moment like you mentioned but we've also had a more direct parallel from Dabi's dance. Just with the father and son roles being flipped.
I really hoped the DFO theory would die when he started mocking Deku’s lack of power before the vestiges stopped them from stealing OFA, it pretty clearly showed how AFO didn’t have any personal connection to Deku
I mean not to defend the DFO theory but DFO being a thing does mean he has to be nice to Deku, especially if he sees Deku's as failed experiment I mean it's implied he did care about Yochi and look how that turned out DFO really doesn't mean he can't be a dick. Again not saying that the theory is plausible but AFO mocking Deku isn't really a smoking gun against it.
The nagging thing about Midoriya's father is his complete absence from the story, aside from a small mention in the very beginning, there is nothing, not a phone call, not a hospital visit, nothing, he simply doesn't exist as a character. So where is he, he is apparently alive and working abroad, but are there no home visits, no attempt at communication with his wife and son at all? As many times as Deku has been hospitalized, he never visits or anything, what kind of father is this? His absence is inexcusable after so long unless he is either dead (which we know he isn't) or unless there is a clear good reason why he is unable to have a direct relationship with Inko and Deku. If AFO is Deku's father, it would explain his absence and why there is no relationship between them, but then it opens up a whole other can of worms. Like how and why AFO got with Inko, how much does she know, what were AFO's intentions in having a child, why abandon said child when clearly he gathers other children to use as pawns and materials for experiments, and so on. If Deku's father will be "revealed", as in a character we have already met but don't know it yet, then who would it be other than AFO? All Might? Aizawa? That would be even more ridiculous! I think Dad For One could work out if it was handled right, but the way the story has been deteriorating lately that doesn't seem likely anymore. Because if it isn't AFO, then why bother with any of this mystery at all? Why keep his father a secret for so long if it was going to be a surprise and big development on the story? At this point it would be better to just have Hisashi never show up at all and forget about him, make it a dead plot point.
@SirReepicheep Rules maybe deku's dad is just following the trend of being a japanese business man , and taking his work over sea's too seriously, that he basically has not talked deku in an while , his name is seriously means it been a long time.

I had to bump the playback to 0.75 because of the speed you were speaking, but it's admittedly a tiny nitpick compared to the rest of the video, which is fire in terms of pacing, content and editing. Glad there's a comprehensive video on this topic in particular.
Funny how I watched it at 1.25 speed😂 Been trying to blitz videos faster so I can watch more, and found out pretty quick I don't miss out on any of the content by speeding up most videos to 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 or even 2x speed. Nothing against UA-camrs or this guy, it's just something I do for my own enjoyment
My take is that either he was supposed to be his father or there was open window for such possibility during early stages of MHA. But as story took it's course, plan was either dropped or never went beyond mere possibility.
I do wonder who deku's dad is but NOTHING points to it being one for all, and it doesn't seem like an interesting development. Dabi's origin was basically known by all before the official reveal and it was fantastic, one for all being izuku's father would just be confusing.
One theory i was intrigued by was Denki being the UA traitor. There was a lot of hints leading to it, mainly through denki’s quirk, electrification. And then the traitor was randomly Aoyama?
Aoyama being the traitor has had numerous hints throughout the story like when was noticeably absent from USJ attack and Dabi purposely ignoring him during the training camp. He was not actively trying to help AFO or hurt the heroes which is why is was dormant for so long after Kamino, because despite his role, he really did want to be a hero, but he was stuck in a difficult situation that he couldn't get out of. Aoyama was by no means randomly the traitor, but it was plot point that had to be addressed because it was canonically critical to the story.
the only possible hint to it being denki was, as you said, his quirk-specifically his quirks very big drawbacks. but this is also sort of confirmation bias like dfo, as its the only possible 'hint' for him being a possible traitor. the aoyama reveal was VERY hinted towards almost as much as dabi being toya. his hero name, his abscene/distance in situations like USJ etc, his entire character in the school festival arc, how he always eats alone, dabi spotting him in the training camp but very quickly dismissing him, etc. it was not random at all
It’s not that I was super hardcore on this theory, just thought it would be a bit interesting and slightly funny/shocking if it happened. However, watching you explain everything in a great way kinda made me think “wow that would actually be dogshit and ruin two insanely important characters”. Great vid! (Also Odd Future imo)
Idk they gave us some solid points to believe he wouldn't be the father, thinking otherwise without cluse is just doing mental gymnastics, hell endever has a better chance of being revealed as his dad
i think the fact that midoriya's dad just not having anything in the story just goes against how prevelant family is to the story like why do they never mention him at all, that's gotta have an effect on Midoriya no matter what the outcome is
when it comes to why izuku would care if all for one was his father- it would simply be that ALL FOR ONE IS HIS FATHER, izuku's whole character is 'you can be more than you start as' and if he started as the son of the worst villain in human history he may have a moment of doubt, something that could truly turn the tide of the second war, plus image if you'd spend your while life wanting to be a hero, told by everyone you couldn't be a hero, finally prove your worth only to find out that the man you were always told was a innocent and loving man, was the worse villain, and the man you were DESTINED to fight as you inherited a power from that SAME MAN'S RIVAL!? dude it doesn't matter izuku's connection or love for his father- if everything knew about him was an f-ing lie and that the man possibly tricked his mother, or that he may never be a hero due to his heritage
Great video ! The funny thing is, while I think Dad for One is likely to happen, I don't disagree with most of what you said. I used to really like the theory back then but now that we are in end game and there's not been all the things I thought we would get before any dad for one reveal, I agree it would be challenging for Horikoshi to make it work.

Question: What do you think Deku's father being revealed is going to do for Deku as a character? Personally I think Deku's dad being revealed would honestly highlight or show the genesis of Deku's self destructive tendencies and low self worth, which would snap him out of it and fully embrace the help of others and emotionally open up as a character about his feelings of himself, his dad and others I highly doubt that it would ever happen, Horikoshi had multiple opportunities to introduce him prime example being the dark Deku arc but never did...I really like the idea of some random nobody having the biggest impact in the story
Theres also the fact shigaraki was meant to be the next all for one AFO directly said he wanted Shig to grow in all the ways he did in act 2 of the story myself included. He wanted him to get allies, become stronger and hate more. So even striking out he was still following the script AFO wrote for him. So why would he need deku to become the next him while he outright has shigaraki Hell the shigaraki persona WAS made by afo so again why.would.he.need.deku
afo doesn't want or need deku to become the next him tho?? he wants deku because deku has ofa which is connected to afo's younger brother, and afo believes if he has ofa, he can bring back yoichi. sooo, nothing changes in the dfo theory still
You know what? I'm still gonna write DFO. And I'm gonna write him like an immortal comic book nerd that hits a level of surprisingly good parent that is only roamed by Lucifer from Hazbeen Hotel
That could happen. 1. AFO could have disguised himself as Hisashi Midoriya to hide from the cops and Pro Heroes. 2. Knowing him, he most likely has a fire breathing Quirk in his arsenal, which he mainly uses as Hisashi Midoriya to hide his true identity. 3. As you said, Horikoshi references Star Wars a LOT. This theory _could_ be possible, but again, it couldn't. Let's wait and see once the series ends.
This is a phenomenal, succinct video on DFO Asa. You brought up so much info together in one spot (a lot of facets to the theory I've forgotten/never thought about) that I feel like a sudden expert on the topic lol. Great work! Can't wait for AFO to reveal he is Endeavor's dad next chapter or whatever
I definitely agree with you, even though Horikoshi is an obvious big fan of Star Wars, I still have doubts on the thought of AFO being Izuku’s father, cus Hisashi was in America…so there’s nothing that everyone else could think about lol
1.)All for one got his head smashed. It'd be impossible for that walking patoato to jog a memory. 2.)Pretty sure Dekus dad has been gone for awhile. Depending on when he left,he likely wouldn't remember. (Not supporting the theory, just reasoning with that part)
While I do agree with you that the theory isn’t that good, I do want to add that another important theme in My Hero Academia (at least how I see it) is legacy and passing the torch. In that regard, making AFO Deku’s dad could provide some interesting commentary on that theme, in addition to the Todoroki family. Because, whether he likes it or not, a piece of All For One, his legacy, will be carried on through Izuku by his blood. This was already touched on with the Todoroki family of course but this could be a different scenario. Also, from a narrative sense, other than Deku, this would have an interesting effect on heroes and society. What if your greatest hero was the child of the greatest villain. That would bring some further unrest to society and make some people paranoid that this is still all according to AFO’s plan. Too late in the story for that but eh… would have been somewhat interesting.
I personally like the theory that all for one is his dad but he just stole his quirk then left. I mean it would be hilarious if all for one went around and just made children like he is breeding in pokemon then steals theit quirks then just gets the hell out of there. Heck maybe the reason 20% of the people being born quirkless is because all for "daddy" just got all the bitches.
I want the next thing AFO to say in the manga to be something like "My gift to you, Midoriya Izuku, is a potato." Then Izuku appears and flies right into a potato/rock being chucked into his face.
Eh ive read some good stories where AFO is Izuku's father. I agree it wouldn't work in MHA especially since the Dabi plot line covers the family tragedy arc so well but they're still fun to read.
I'm very late to the party so please forgive me. I actually made a comment on one of the Dad For One videos featured here, explaining my thoughts and ideas for the theory. I agree with you, at this late in the game doing a All For One is Deku's long lost dad is not a terrible idea that could ruin the story, but to me theories are just a fun way of doing what ifs. In regards to the theory itself and my comment, I won't go over it word for word here but my general consensus was All For One used the name "Hisashi" as an alias to hide his identity. He and Deku's mom's meet was completely coincidental, in my opinion, so no elaborate plan to breed a mini AFO, just two people who met and fell in love. Honestly if Deku was AFO's kid i would think he would have some mutant hybrid Quirk and not just an All For One variant. I suggested in my comment that AFO may have wanted to give Deku a Quirk when the news came that he was Quirkless because he's the Dark Emperor who can do anything, a living god on earth, his son must have a power of his own. So why didn't he? I doubt it was because he was a failure like the Todorokis, it could have been as simple as Deku's mom talking him out of doing it, probably knowing the secret of her husband's identity and the side effects of his Quirk. As I said in my comment, AFO is a monster who thrives on chaos and destruction, but at the end of the day and at his core he is a human being. He's just as capable of anger, love, compassion, and hatred as you or me. Ultimately, he couldn't stay with his family and had to leave them for their own good. Think of how much danger they would be in if he were to stay. I know this is a long comment and sorry about that, I just like talking about this theory from time to time. Your video made me look at the theory in a different lense so thank you!
Actually Deku does have a combination of his parents’ quirks. The mother can attract small objects and the father can use fire. Deku attracts hot things lol
If afo really isn't Deku's dad then what was the point of not giving Hisashi any appearances in the story whatsoever? Making him the generic absent father adds nothing. Not trying to rag on Hori or anything, but would it really have been *that* hard to occasionally draw ONE character and give them a few appearances throughout the series? Bakugo's dad appeared a few times, and so has Ochako's. Why not Hisashi?
Sometimes making a person conspicuously absent from the story is the whole point. It makes it more realistic. If Deku truly was from a not-high class family Quirkwise (unlike the Todoroki family for example), wouldn't it be possible to also have a not-high class story for his family too? His father is simply that, an absentee father.
You know I'd like to believe that Horikoshi would never do something as stupid as make AFO Midoria's Father. However, I'm reminded of Naruto and another ridiculous theory that proved true. That theory was Tobi and Obito being one and the same. There was NOTHING in the story or timeline that could remotely suggest that Obito and Tobi were one and the same. I remember people arguing how stupid that was and how that would totally undue the character of Kagashi not to mention all the gaps and questions about how he managed to recover from having one side of his body completely crushed (including his brain) having that side replaced with synthetic whatever, recovering inside of a year and a half, while somehow training in that same space to be good enough to take on Naruto's dad one on one and somehow control the 9 tails. That cockamamie theory no matter how illogical it was turned out to be correct. Us haters who rejected such a stupid theory got served. I stopped reading Naruto as soon as that plot twist was revealed...
I actually have a few candidates that might be Dekue's father. 1 Slide and Glide 2 Endeavor 3 Ereaser Head 4 Erie's father 5 Virgin convinced by an unknown power
Honestly, it's waaaay too late to pull DFO twist when nothing has set up for it unlike the "Dabi is Touya" reveal that was clearly set up since the start (how Dabi was first shown during the news of Stain's "arrest" by Endeavor, the interesting way Dabi called Shouto in the forest, the similar way Dabi and Endeavor's flames ignites, etc etc)
I've actually seen fan arts about this "theory", but I thought it meant as a fanfic Alternate Universe idea, not a serious one where it coincedes with the official story. Some people are crazy 💀
Ok, but you forget to mention that when afo is fighting all might he say "You gave the quirk to Izuku midoria right? He came to you *completely unqualified* How did he know? Hmmm....

I’d like All For One to tell Deku: “Can you really kill me, I am your father after all” when he’s on deaths door. And then Deku freezes for a second, shakes it off and just shouts, “who cares” and smashes him in the face. Because it so fantastically subverts expectations, and is in line with Deku’s more mature personality.
subverting expectations does not autometicaly makes it good, AFO knowing Deku is his kid and never trying to use it for his advantage would make him look stupid.
I think the reason why Deku's dad has never shown up is the same reason why the Pokemon player character usually doesn't have a dad-some Japanese culture thing I don't understand properly
The only way to make Dad For One not good awful is if when Deku has Afo on the ropes, Afo lies about being Deku's dad just to get a cheap shot off and run away. Afo feels like the type of guy to just make shit up to win so it makes sense with his character. The only way to do it seriously though would be if Horikoshi was trying to do a scene like in the end of the first Raimi Spiderman movie where Peter renounces the Goblin one last time. But this still wouldn't work cause like, there's literally no reason for Deku to join Afo or side with him or even sympathize with him.
It was a fun theory during MHA first few years, what with all the Star Wars references. However the more time when on, the more it just grew less and less likely.
Wait a second at 4:37 you talk about how there’s a 4 year gap between shigiraki and deku finding out he’s quirkless. However wouldn’t all for one instantly know he’s child is quirkless upon birth because of the extra toe bone and not being able to steal the quirk. And if that’s the case it’s actually fits the timeline really well. All for one tried having his own kid to pass on his quirk but it failed so he wanted to take his anger and use it against nanas family.
@@jdellabeat6245 I wouldn't blame you. At this point I just feel disappointed. The series had a lot more potential, yet it's rushing to it's end, and in such a way that it destroys many plot points and even characters.
It doesn't mathemathically makes sense, Lets say All For One really was Midoriya's father, He left him before Midoriya could have a memory meaning it was between 0-3 years old, Now after he left him he aged a little and then found shiggy and adopted him, When he adopted shiggy shiggy was five, I say shiggy as a short to shigaraki because I don't have that much free time but anyways, If shiggy was adopted when he was five and that was after Midoriya was born that means the age gap between shiggy and Midoriya is 2 years by the theory. Now we all know that's not true, That's why the theory cannot be true. Sorry to break it to y'all but if you like dramatic twists of "I am your father" just go to star wars.

No it isn't. If that was the case All Might would've been able to use the previous users quirks as well. Being quirkless just allowed Deku and All Might to have a normal lifespan while holding OFA. The 4th user died at age 40 and that was with a far weaker version of OFA than Deku's. If Deku had a quirk and got OFA he probably would've been dead within a year. Deku is allowed to use the previous users quirks because the previous users believe that Deku will be the last holder so they're allowing him full access to everything.
Also, the whole all for one gave shigaraki decay, makes no sense in the mindset of, I can kill anyone by touching them so no one can really harm. Decay is busted in the sense that it doesn't matter how powerful you are, as long as my quirk can touch you, you'll be turned too dust, insta win against all might.

PREACH! The only fan theory in MHA/BNHA I hate more is the "Red Shoe Theory" ... why would a foot that is MORE flexible require 'special' shoes? THAT'S IGNORANT!
The only way this could be a GOOD twist is just to show how similar yet different Deku and Shigaraki are. Tomura being the grandson of a great hero and being mentored by the world's dangerous villian. And Deku, son of the world's dangerous villain, being mentored by the world's strongest hero.
Honestly the biggest evidence for this theory is Izuku’s extra toe joint. Dr. Garaki, being the Doctor for AfO, would know his child wouldn’t have to lie about the toe joint, except for Hisashi not being a first gen Quirk user. But this immediately presents the problem of why Garaki didn’t help Izuku because he’s AfO’s son? Even the best evidence for DfO comes with issues from it being concrete.
AfO already had his "I am your father" moment, when he told All Might that Tomura was Nana's grandson.

Really great video Asa! The editing was top notch and added a lot imo.
I had to bump the playback to 0.75 because of the speed you were speaking, but it's admittedly a tiny nitpick compared to the rest of the video, which is fire in terms of pacing, content and editing. Glad there's a comprehensive video on this topic in particular.
Funny how I watched it at 1.25 speed😂
Been trying to blitz videos faster so I can watch more, and found out pretty quick I don't miss out on any of the content by speeding up most videos to 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 or even 2x speed. Nothing against UA-camrs or this guy, it's just something I do for my own enjoyment
If AFO is Deku’s dad, I’ll seriously be disappointed
Great vid! (Also Odd Future imo)

i think the fact that midoriya's dad just not having anything in the story just goes against how prevelant family is to the story
like why do they never mention him at all, that's gotta have an effect on Midoriya no matter what the outcome is
when it comes to why izuku would care if all for one was his father- it would simply be that ALL FOR ONE IS HIS FATHER, izuku's whole character is 'you can be more than you start as' and if he started as the son of the worst villain in human history he may have a moment of doubt, something that could truly turn the tide of the second war, plus image if you'd spend your while life wanting to be a hero, told by everyone you couldn't be a hero, finally prove your worth only to find out that the man you were always told was a innocent and loving man, was the worse villain, and the man you were DESTINED to fight as you inherited a power from that SAME MAN'S RIVAL!? dude it doesn't matter izuku's connection or love for his father- if everything knew about him was an f-ing lie and that the man possibly tricked his mother, or that he may never be a hero due to his heritage

Question: What do you think Deku's father being revealed is going to do for Deku as a character?
Personally I think Deku's dad being revealed would honestly highlight or show the genesis of Deku's self destructive tendencies and low self worth, which would snap him out of it and fully embrace the help of others and emotionally open up as a character about his feelings of himself, his dad and others
I highly doubt that it would ever happen, Horikoshi had multiple opportunities to introduce him prime example being the dark Deku arc but never did...I really like the idea of some random nobody having the biggest impact in the story
Theres also the fact shigaraki was meant to be the next all for one
AFO directly said he wanted Shig to grow in all the ways he did in act 2 of the story myself included. He wanted him to get allies, become stronger and hate more. So even striking out he was still following the script AFO wrote for him. So why would he need deku to become the next him while he outright has shigaraki
Hell the shigaraki persona WAS made by afo so again why.would.he.need.deku
afo doesn't want or need deku to become the next him tho?? he wants deku because deku has ofa which is connected to afo's younger brother, and afo believes if he has ofa, he can bring back yoichi. sooo, nothing changes in the dfo theory still
You know what?
Frankly I still think the whole AFO is Deku’s father theory could’ve been a really good twist if it was actually worked on in the series.
Also because I'm pretty sure Midoriya knows what his own father looks like, lol.
1.)All for one got his head smashed. It'd be impossible for that walking patoato to jog a memory. 2.)Pretty sure Dekus dad has been gone for awhile. Depending on when he left,he likely wouldn't remember. (Not supporting the theory, just reasoning with that part)
MHA was never a literary masterpiece, but the latest manga arc makes me think that the DfO is creeping ever closer.
Now that we know what afo looks like
He looks more like muscular mixed with all might body
Basically nothing like deku
Eh ive read some good stories where AFO is Izuku's father. I agree it wouldn't work in MHA especially since the Dabi plot line covers the family tragedy arc so well but they're still fun to read.
Thank fucking you
I think this'll be my go-to video each time I dread DFO is coming a bit too much
I'm very late to the party so please forgive me.
People really saw that locations had star wars references in the names and decided the entire plot would be the same
"deku, I am your father"
"lol OK"
1 Slide and Glide
2 Endeavor
3 Ereaser Head
4 Erie's father
5 Virgin convinced by an unknown power
it would be interesting if he was a failed experiment to create a strong telekinesis quirk
Idk what I love more, the theory itself or how mad it makes people.
0:12 Dabi literally is Touya confirmed

I’d like All For One to tell Deku: “Can you really kill me, I am your father after all” when he’s on deaths door.
And then Deku freezes for a second, shakes it off and just shouts, “who cares” and smashes him in the face.
Because it so fantastically subverts expectations, and is in line with Deku’s more mature personality.
subverting expectations does not autometicaly makes it good, AFO knowing Deku is his kid and never trying to use it for his advantage would make him look stupid.
@@coca_0146 maybe he’s saving it for a moment when he really needs it.
After ch 423
It was sweet how his son made Afo realize that his brother was who he cared about and got to spend his last moments together
The thumbnail is my favorite HAHA
The moment I dread if this is going to happen lol.

I am trying to watch this but cant stop laughing anytime a meme comes on.

I wonder how important his dad will be if he's showing up so late in the series
11:54 how is he failing
he is unique the fact he was quirkless is why he could use all 6 quirks

Even the best evidence for DfO comes with issues from it being concrete.
it'd be funny if AFO was Deku's father, but didn't know it.
