Hablo, canto, duermo, me levanto;
Día a día, lucho una batalla;
La contradanza vuelve a comenzar a diario.
Canto, bailo, grito: “Hurra!”
Excavo, busco, y finalmente encuentro
Ah! Que así sea!

(English Poetic Translation)
Since I rose this morning I've gone through ups and downs,
Running around in circles like a crazy mad dog.
I speak, I sing, I sleep, I rise;
I pray, I scream, it's mess upon mess.
It's a mess here, it's a mess there,
A mess up, a mess down,
Mess everywhere, it's mess upon mess.
Messy are my thoughts,
Messy are my actions,
Messy are my words,
Messy is my vision.
Everything is entangled:
Pain and joy, doubt and faith,
Disgust and hope, good and evil.
My head is spinning and spinning,
Everything is entangled.
What a mess!
Morning after morning, I fight a battle;
The contredanse of life recommences daily.
I sing, I dance, I yell: "Hooray!"
Suddenly and swiftly I am back in a mess.
In the midst of this mess I decide to search,
To search for an understanding to what is happening.
I dig, I seek, and I finally find
In the very depth of my heart
The solution to this mess:
Life before death is a battle of every instant
That can not be won but one moment at a time.
After the night comes the day.
After the rain the sun rises.
After messes, after messes... the heart settles.
It's striving in suffering that brings redemption.
Ah! So be it!

Haitian Creole and French text:
Depi maten m'leve m'ape monte desann,
Mwen kouri toupatou tankou yon chyen ki fou.
Mwen pale, mwen chante, mwen dòmi, mwen leve;
Mwen priye, mwen rele, se gagòt sou gagòt.
Gagòt isit, gagòt lòtbò.
Gagòt anwo, gagòt anba,
Gagòt toupatou, se gagòt sou gagòt.
Gagòt nan lide mwen,
Gagòt nan zak mwen yo,
Gagòt nan pawòl mwen,
Gagòt nan vizyon mwen.
Tout bagay yo mele:
Lapenn ak lajwa, ledout ak lafwa,
Degoutans ak lespwa, le byen avèk le mal.
Tèt mwen vire, li vire,
Tout bagay yo mele.
Gad'on gagòt!
Maten apre maten, m'ap livre yon batay;
Kontredans lavi-a rekòmanse chak jou.
Mwen chante, mwen danse,
Mwen rele: "Viv lavi!"
Bridsoukou sanzatann mwen tounen nan gagòt.
Nan mitan gagòt sa mwen deside chèche,
Chèche, chèche konnen, konnen sa k'ap pase.
Mwen fouye, mwen mande, mwen fini pa trouve
Ah! Ainsi soit-il!

I was part of the tenor 2 section during this performance. It's been 4 years already and this piece still resonates in me 🔥✨ Beautiful composition Sydney Guillaume! 🤘
Thank you, Aldo! I love that you still have a strong connection with the piece years later.
I like how this piece has stuck with me so much, even after 3 years I can remember every word and musical harmony. Truly a masterpiece!
That’s amazing! I’m glad to hear it stuck with your after all these years. Thank you! 🙏🏾
For real
Still my favorite All state piece ever
Although I didn’t get to perform it since I wasn’t in the men’s choir, this is by far the coolest all-state piece I’ve ever learned. It was definitely a highlight of my school year, it was challenging to learn, but once I learned it it was my favorite choir piece of all time. Thank you Sydney Guillaume for such an outstanding piece! I hope next years men pieces can live up to this one
Wow. That means a lot to me. Thanks so much, Nicolas!
Same here. We would sing it to impress the ladies too 😂
this was 2 years ago and still one of those songs that sticks with you
It really was such an honor to be able to be a part of this choir and the presentation of this outstanding piece. Thank you so much for this amazing piece of art, Mr. Guillaume.
You’re welcome, Caleb! 🙏🏾
Hey! Nice to see you here! And you got a reply from the one and only!!
This was by far my favorite All State piece my senior year. I didn't get to sing it in concert, I only made it to region, but my fellow Bass 2, Jamison Deffner, did make it. It was nice to sing along to this piece and sing with my friend again after 3 years.
A special connection to this piece after all these years… that’s so wonderful!
This is a wonderful piece!! I enjoyed singing and hearing it!! Greetings from a Tenor 1 from PR!
Thanks so much, Pablo! :)
I love it.
I was sooo close to making Tenor Bass... Only falling short by a couple chairs as a Bass 2 (14th). Very vibrant and rhythmic piece, I truly enjoyed working and auditioning this piece. Mr. Guillaume is a composing master!
Hello. Two female tenors in a tenor-bass choir: priceless.
Donny Pearson indeed! :)
Great job Sandra the conductor

someday man...
I'd give anything to perform this again...
@@adriangonzaloz2424 I’m performing it for the first time as a singer tomorrow… I’m singing the baritone line in a TTBB sextet. It’s been an incredible experience being on that side of this piece. I’m still learning from it after all these years.
