@@michaelparton71 I like some of Gabriel's later work. He's a legend but this doesn't do it for me. I'm glad that others like it, though. To each his own taste, I guess.

I'm speechless. This performance would be progressive even today. Respect that Genesis gave him the right platform for his ideas. Thank you Mr. Gabriel for all you've done for those who appreciate you.
Splendid! Peter was 20 years ahead of his time. His vocal range is outstanding, his mis-en-scene brilliant. The perfect frontman. It´s a pity we no longer have such innovative craftsmen like Genesis.
Peter Gabriel com sua teatralidade, pinturas, máscaras e roupas espalhafatosas faz-me lembrar outros grandes artistas q seguiam essa mesma linha teatral: David Bowie; Boy George; Todd Rundgren, a banda The Cure, Rod Stewart, Freddy Mercury, E. John. E aq no Brasil: o grupo Secos & Molhados (Ney Matogrosso).
I'm so glad to see so many others enjoy this video, especially the younger fans. There is hope. These guys sounded so huge. The dual vocal assault is amazing.
I remember crying for days when I was a schoolgirl and Gabriel left. I thought the band would end. Well it didn't of course, and I like Collins too - but Gabriel was always my childhood hero:)
Yeah I agree. I listen to Phil Collins era Genesis too, but the Peter Gabriel era is just amazing! He's probably one of the strangest, and most talented, musicians ever. It's art, beautiful beautiful art.
I’m 60 now . I was a Huge prog rock fan , this is one of my favourites.. it reminds me of the juke box in a village pub (England ) and a lad I knew who passed in a motorbike crash . I feel like this is my funeral song because I know what I like and i like what I know ❤
I'm 14, and I've love Genesis, Floyd and Zeppelin. I'm not trying to be one of those ones who says pointless things for likes, but I've downloaded every album by Genesis, and now 3 of my mates have got their entire discography too. Let the Genesis Live on!
Peter Gabriel changed the face of music...His stage presence changed things into performance music....He made David Bowie sit back..I love this stuff..Peter was amazing
The great part about this song is how easily they describe how boring suburban English life is and the part where he pretends to be a lawnmower is genius it doesn't matter when other people call you a fool because they don't have the courage to step into the stage and try out new things.
Life is boring to people that are boring. There is always someone nearby needing help with problems in their life. if this song is about what you say it is, then it is no wonder that I see zero appeal to this song or the performance on the stage.
Phil Collins is every bit as genius as Peter Gabriel. 1/8 of either of them is 5000 times more than anything that is being marketed as music these days. Phil is also one of the most under rated drummers. Seen them in concert in 76' (after Gabriel) and it was one of the best concerts I ever went to.
This was the best group for me at that time. They still live on me to the point that here was I looking for them. You can still see Phil Collins in the drums before Peter Gabriel went solo. The album Selling England by the Pound, were this song comes from is a piece of art. I can´t never forget the good times I had in Rio de Janeiro together with my great group of friends, always listening to Genesis...man!!! What great times those were...
It took me a while to get into this song but once I got into it, I never grew bored with it. It makes me smile every time I listen to it, regardless of whether it was sung by Peter or Phil. Classic Genesis!
Brilliant! What a band they were back then Phil's drumming and mike bass playing were fantastic, and Peter, what a show man! Its also hard to beleive that they were all about 19 / 20 years old on this clip.
This is my favorite video on here..I wish I could see live shots of him swinging out and walking on people's heads...Peter loved doing that in theaters
My first job was as a computer programmer for S.W. Farmer in Lewisham, London , the Mr Farmer referred to... at one time they did indeed make fire escapes as they were a steel company and the painted brick wall advertisment that could be seen from the train caught the eye of Genesis...sadly Famers went bust 25 years ago ... still , a piece of history... regards Fitvideo

Brilliant, emotional lyrics. Stunning performance artistry by Gabriel and what a tune- great melodies. Not to mention the bass part in chorus..
that bass was PHATTT!
Agreed. In the live Collins version on UA-cam, the bass is pushed too far down in the mix.
I so always loved this song , my favorite Genesis song since I was a kid! ❤️
Mike Rutherford’s masterful bass licks. 👌
Classic - literally. Classic earworm from way back when. It's cool to see a young Phil Collins at the drums.

Phil is pretty chill back there on the skins in a lot of concert videos. Effortless, like making a sandwich.
Phil is no Peter, but yeah, he was a great drummer and a good singer.
This performance video should be listed as a UNESCO cultural heritage site.
