Great video. I made an antenna called the tape measure antenna for satellites. Yes it's made from a metal tape measure and PVC pipe. Have made many contacts with satellites using it, lots of fun. I had a good friend that was a helicopter pilot for the rigs. He had lots of stories. Do you have a armature radio with you on the rig for making contacts or is that not allowed? Glad I found your channel, really enjoying your videos.
Thanks! I have seen where lots of people use the measure tape antennas. I need to try one of those myself. I have set up and worked 10 meters from the platform on occasion. I strung up an Inverted-vee above our communications building. I mostly use EchoLink and DMR while offshore.
I built that thing out here on the platform. I'd rather not try to carry it home on a helo. Assembled anyway. Gonna build another at home. Maybe an upcoming video.
