Big shoutout to KG5NUB for helping me recreate the intro scene. Check out his channel also / @kg5nub

PVC pipe with 12AWG copper wire inside works great.
J-Pole is a good antenna. made one with old 300 ohm TV lead in. Worked quite well.
Very nice! Always want to make a J- pole. I've only made dipoles for 20 and 40. I will make a J- pole this spring. 73 from KF0ALT
That is great. I have a copper one but need a second and am going to build one like this.

Thanks
Thanks for the video. Very interesting. How did you connect the SO-239 on the antenna to receive the coax?
I soldered wire to the center pin of the connector and then used a short piece of #12 solid copper wire from the case of the panel mount so239 with #6 x 32 screw and nut. I drilled holes at the feed point of the antenna and used #6 x32 screws and wingnuts to connect the wires that I had attached to the connector, The solid wire helped to keep the connector rigid. If that makes any sense.
Hi really like your videos. Simple and down to earth, just what we need. I have an idea for another one, make one on how you have the studio mic attached to your system and how you key up and make it all work. Thanks and 73, KC3TBV,
Yep thanks. That sounds like a good video to come.
That's pretty cool! Just curious, would this also work from 70cm band?
The one I built here isn't resonant on the 70cm band but I'm sure one can be built that is.
It is possible to make a J-Pole that has a decent SWR on both 2M & 70CM. However, in general, the maximum take off angle will not be toward the horizon but about 40 degrees up from the horizon. That will cost you about 3 to 6 dB at the horizon. Now, that is not as bad as it sounds and may still be OK for working local repeater and mobiles. There is a person on here who has plans for a dual-band and even tri-band J-Pole that has a good SWR and take off angles. If I can find it again, I'll come back here and edit this comment.
@@BryanTorok Ok that would be great, thank you!
