In theory a dolphin flip is like a frontside loop or an inverted hardflip. But when you flip it horizontally, then it becomes similar to a varial kickflip. Just that the varial motion is completely initiated by the front foot only. I guess that is what is hard about it in the first place. It makes it sort of lateflipish.
No a double varial flip uses the back foot to scope the board. You dont scope a dolphin flip. Plus it flips vertically instead of horizontally (like a hardflip).
u r right, its just, the flip shown here is then at best a sloppy dolphin flip, caus my double varials kinda always looked like this dolhin flip, and i know i cant dolphin flip. so. yeah. ^^ - this one needs more vertikal magic to make it stand out more, but maybe thats the hard part caus its double flipping,, dunno.
It's fair enough to get the shits over misuses like double tre when they mean tre double, but this is like arguing over whether it's called a varial double flip or a nightmare flip. Pointless. Just let people call it what they want.
+Miguel Herrera "that's exactly what a dolphin flip is" - I know that Forward Flip is also called Dolphin Flip by people. What made you think that I'm suggesting an entirely different trick?
+Gabriel Brearley "but this is like arguing over whether it's called a varial double flip or a nightmare flip. Pointless. Just let people call it what they want." - How do you get the impression that I wouldn't want to let people call it what they want? They can. And am I not entitled to dislike the video because I dislike the name "Dolphin Flip" because there is a better name for it, namely "Forward Flip"? Why do I have to like the name "Dolphin Flip" better than "Forward Flip"? Just let people like or dislike what they want. And I will continue to give videos dislikes with an appropriate comment of mine when I hear "Dolphin Flip" (in a non-derogatory way). Why would you want to forbid that for me?
Jesus Christ i felt the earth shake
look like a varial double kickflip
Slammin
Kevin D dale is a ass hole
Holy fuck the last one was clean! No wheelbites whatsoever!
It's crazy how insane that looks in realtime, yet so simple in slow motion haha Great stuff!
You da men, Shaun & Brett
It has to be sooo fun to be able to nail that trick! :)
I find a double flip easier than a single
Amazing as always
Oh man I can imagine this would've been a fun filming session

So it's a double kickflip + shuvit? Honest question
No. Watch the back foot. No scoop.
@@BigFatCock0 okay, at 0:28 it looks like he's scooping but in the other shots it doesnt...? I just want to understand the trick XD
@@JosephineKilgannon The trick is popped straight. At 0:28 he might've anticipated it a little bit. But it's nowhere near a scoop.
Is he hiding his age?
S U M O
Double 180 flip?
No. Watch the back foot. No scoop.
I heard that Brett Novak didn’t even have to use slo mo for this video because Shaun is so fat that he’s always moving in slo mo
Effortless.
so a double varial flip is the same? all those names.... smh

This is super vertical i dont know what you can’t see about that. Varial flip uses both feet to scoop and flick off the side not the nose.
Dislike because it's a Forward Double Flip.
that's exactly what a dolphin flip is

Ooohh so the dislike is just because you don't like the trick
