At first I was like “why does he always wear a helmet”? But now I LOVE that he always wears a helmet. Anywhere he goes he’s the best, and he’s the only one wearing a helmet. It makes him that much more authentic.
No offense but you have to be pretty stupid as to not know why someone would wear a helmet. The main reason people wear helmets is for safety. Helmets are designed for safety, skateboarding is dangerous, so its pretty fkn logical that he wears a helmet for safety....
@@benl8962 More specifically, he wears it because of a friend of his who had a terrible fall. It's not a stupid question to ask when 99% of pros with street or bowl parts don't wear helmets.

When you see it presented in such a beautiful way like this, one truly understands how skateboarding can become an obsession, a lifestyle, a reason for living, like oxygen.
the best part is that I can totally picturing him saying that. It's so fun to watch him skate. He inspires me big time, and it seems, at least to me, like he sees the street in a different way than even other pro skaters. Everything is a spot for this guy. He's pretty flipping awesome
HOLY CRAP...it's like Natas, Rodney Mullen and Simon Woodstock all threw in DNA and my elementary school Art teacher did the cloning. I love seeing skateboarding as true expression and not worrying about how huge of a gap or drop is being backside dolphin flipped or whatever...just watching this cat skate down a street or the weirdest little transition and rule it in the most "cool" and almost organic vibe makes me smile in the purest way. Super props brother. Btw, one-wheel manuals are so low-key sick, I can't even describe to someone that doesn't get it...it's like describing how purple smells.
I have to say, Andy is probably the #1 reason I keep skating. He's like your character in Skate when you button mash, but he actually knows what he's doing. His transitions between tricks are fluid; the man is an artist.
@@McBicbic Natas didn't actually do a free hand spin on top of the hydrant. He even said so himself. That's the first time I've ever seen it done as a full spin with nothing around you and a landed trick too. Natas held onto a stop sign to keep his balance. This kid is gifted.

I'm 56...started in '75. When he went into those spacewalks and then threw some 360's, super smile. Best I ever pulled was 4.5 360's and an old school nose manual half a suburban street block. Don't get me started on the old school method of a kick flip...... ;)
here here. I'm 41 also, skated since 9 :) I'm from Slovenia and had the chance to meet Andy while he was touring europe this year. So chilled guy and extra accessible... top skater!
I’m 42 & started skateboarding again when my son came around to it. I wish I’d have kept with it. I can skate, but I can’t do any of these trick & yeah, I got major respect for those who can.
I’m 38, skated since I was 12. I agree with you 100%. My new favorite skater! He is a smart kid, so thankfully he wears a helmet. This was refreshing to watch.
I'm 6 years old, from Croatia. :) Started skating when I was 2. My dad wants me to go to school, but I ain't stupid. School is for pussies. Sorry dad, I am about to become a pro skater like Andy
Yes Brett! Love watching this human skate 😍
John Hill I don't think he's human
@@luckycharms7232 or a few extra maybe? (Extra Skate gene)
Andy is just so damn good
😂
@Aj Fioritti hes one of the most consistent skaters period; just because you don't like someones personality doesn't mean you can't separate art from craft. John is insane.
The Natas fire hydrant, the Mullen freestyle, this guy is an amalgamation of the greats. Smooth and clean.
Don't forget Jackson.
more like Natas style
@@NihilistGhost I'd pay to see Richie Jackson and Andy session together.
Me too :-)
I'm born in Holland 92 . My mom's born in Vancouver 76. We both moved back to Vancouver 2009.... Never cared for a medal this much!
I know homeboy gonna bring the GOLD home ☺️☺️
More skaters need to wear helmets. And this guy has a very creative mind, reminds me of a young rodney mullen when i was growing up. A breath of fresh air! Makes me want to skate again, THANKS!
It's funny I didn't even think about him wearing it until I read your post i was to busy looking at a skateboard flowing like a ballerina on a surfboard
More people need to stop telling people what to do!
@@hsjsjshjjjsjakaozhhs9473 take your own advice kid
More skaters should wear helmets? More skaters should do whatever the fuck they want, go back to your rocking chair old man
@@hsjsjshjjjsjakaozhhs9473 you are dumb af
The greatest skateboarding video I've ever seen... No pressure, awesome music, great scenes, impressive!
I just found out about Andy, and this guy is hands down the best, must innovative, creative and interesting skater I've ever seen. I'm gen X, so I come from the old school of skaters. I realize that tricks have gotten super technical in the past 10 years, but Andy just takes that aspect to a whole new level. Great job my dude 👍 And what a great roll model for kids, with the helmet and gloves. You never see pro skaters wearing protective gear. Well done 👏
Brett: “Andy what trick are you going to do on that ledge?”
Andy: “yes”
3:53
Brett: "Andy what grind are you going to do now?"
Andy: "All"
The helicopter is what we call it in the trade
😂

Honesty one of the coolest skate videos I’ve ever watched with Andy’s style and the filming was top notch so bad ass
Skateboarding took over my life as a teenager, watching this in my early 30's makes me want to buy a set up and coast. Andy is so satisfying to watch, this guy is fucking amazing.
Have you coasted yet if not its time.
@@abcdefhgty mate, i bought a set up and skated.
@@tykewando nice dude! keep on skating!
@@tykewando yo same. Man I missed that feeling bro.
I am 29 and recently started skateboarding. I came into it as a yogi, and yoga has grounded me with a confidence to get into skating that I may not have had otherwise.
Most entertaining skater to watch of this era.
Or Alexander Rademaker
Dude this is a the perfect recipe for you both. Wow. No words truly.
Honestly this is one of my favorite skate videos of all time. There are a lot of parts on the list but between the production and the very unique skating & locations here, it's infinitely watchable for me.
The style and originality of his skating is beyond his years
Masterpiece!
At first I was like “why does he always wear a helmet”? But now I LOVE that he always wears a helmet. Anywhere he goes he’s the best, and he’s the only one wearing a helmet. It makes him that much more authentic.
I saw him on braille n he was wearing a helmet too. Maybe he's just become accustomed to it with the vert skating.
he's the authenticandyanderson
No offense but you have to be pretty stupid as to not know why someone would wear a helmet. The main reason people wear helmets is for safety. Helmets are designed for safety, skateboarding is dangerous, so its pretty fkn logical that he wears a helmet for safety....
@@benl8962 More specifically, he wears it because of a friend of his who had a terrible fall. It's not a stupid question to ask when 99% of pros with street or bowl parts don't wear helmets.
@@benl8962 yeah, unbelievable that thats the state of mind from some of these people.
4:09 That wallride to rock and fakie back... made me shout out loud
Is there anything Andy can't do!?
I think triple frontflip
Nightspeeds skate without a helmet
Fall lol
*within a few tries -.-* :D
Sleep...
Andy's smile at the end made me realize thats what i was doing the whole time watching this . Thank You Andy and Brett for giving us this . I encourage everyone too search out as much footage of Andy as they can . He skates all styles so well with such spontaneous creativity .
Andy became my fav skater as soon as i found out about him... Dude, he's really something else.
Vancouver Canada skateboarding legend.
Good on you for shredding with a helmet!
When you see it presented in such a beautiful way like this, one truly understands how skateboarding can become an obsession, a lifestyle, a reason for living, like oxygen.
I ACTUALLY DROPPED MY JAW!!! ABSOLUTLY STELLAR WORK ANDY AND INCREDIBLE FILMING. 11/10 PRODUCTION GUYS
This looks like half Vallely and half Mullen. Love it. Great filming as well Mr Novak 👍🏻
Don't forget a little a Natas too.
Awesome video Brett, such a nice vibe, filming. And skating from Andy too ;) .
Love the shot with Queen Mary in the background. Lots of nostalgia spots for me in this flick.
"Yo guys, check out this sick quarter pipe!" *does rock to fakie on box*
the best part is that I can totally picturing him saying that.
Purple smells like eggplant. 😶
Was thinking the same thing.
Exactly!!! Truly organic and pure love
I have to say, Andy is probably the #1 reason I keep skating. He's like your character in Skate when you button mash, but he actually knows what he's doing. His transitions between tricks are fluid; the man is an artist.
1:57 hands down the coolest most innovative thing I've seen in a while on a board.
@Landon Lawrence But has anyone done one for that long? That was so gnarly.
3:30 I love how the NATAS Spin is a real trick in these space age skateboarding times.
It's been a real trick for ages. Check out Natas' part in Streets on Fire
@@McBicbic Natas didn't actually do a free hand spin on top of the hydrant. He even said so himself. That's the first time I've ever seen it done as a full spin with nothing around you and a landed trick too. Natas held onto a stop sign to keep his balance. This kid is gifted.
Andy makes me miss my home town and 1983 when I first started skating. Van was awesome
Being a longtime fan of Rodney Mullen and decades of loving skateboarding, this cat brought all the warm fuzzies. It's like watching the past, present, and future.
Finally! Another short skate film! So stoked Brett!!! These are my favorite videos of all time!
He’s a generational skater. He makes me smile 😊 boundless creativity
02:12 This is the most new thing I have seen ever in skateboarding...
What do we even call that shit?
Locksy Coconut manual maybe
Locksy Primo manual? Glitch manual?
@@Nick_J_ Primo manual seems right. that shit blew my fucking mind wide open. not even to mention the fact that he was doing that down a decent little hill. that was so dope
i always thought its a primo slide but now im not sure anymore cus its actually not sliding, isn't it
03:52 what is this? THPS?
wnnetwork, no, this is real street skateboarding... period.
Couldnt actually press the buttons that fast.
Magic
With cheats
so in other words period period period period period
Andy's a straight up Alien!! A freak of nature!! Absolutely INSANE what he can do with a board!
When it comes to humanity Andy might be one of our most talented and best spirited. Cheers bro
OMFG bombing a hill in primo?!?!! Honestly this whole video is just satisfying and mind bending!
Wasn't exactly primo he was doing a side manual? idk what it's called haha Rode on 2 wheels.
Coconut wheelie
goosebumps
Andy seems like the sweetest of sweethearts. Plus he is the best. Fkn hippie!! ❤
I love this
We miss your video's, looking forward to seeing you upload again.
Vancouvers not so hidden anymore gem
@@skateedits1499 agreed
Love the inclusion of the sound of the board for every movement
Little did anyone in the background know… poetry was in true motion.. and no words were ever said
Never have I seen something so far from art look like a masterpiece... its almost as if he is dancing with the board, as they cooperate in creating the art... absolutely beautiful and stunning
Physics- "it's impossible to do a rock to fakie on a 90 degree wall"
Andy- "Hold my beer"
Read this as it happens, crazy lol
I rewinded that part over 5 times! Lol
I'd hit my ankle trying that shit ha I'm not confident enough in my back foot I always throw it off the board as I come back into the wall but if you watch closely it's all about the weight distribution and confidence obviously haha
hold my helmet*
Yeah that trick shouldn’t be possible
Andy is really an inspiring person. Feels good watching him.
Andy's flow is incridible! 🤌👌❤
This man has a connection to the board, it's almost like a body part for him. Incredible skill and just as humble. AMAZING.
Andy epitomises the "skate everything" mantra and does it with grace and finesse.
This is just unbelievably beautiful. It's the kind of video you show to someone who doesn't skate to help them start appreciating it as both a sport and an art. Great job.
Soooooooooo gooooooood
He's beyond. So creative, innovative, and just plain "weird" to marvel at. I feel like I'm watching someone split the atom.
This video BLOWS MY FREAKING MIND!!!
Good to have you back, i missed the videos! Peace
I know there are other very talented skaters out there, but for me, Andy is the best. His moves flow so beautifully and every time I see him I think I see something I've never seen before.
The music to this goes so well for some reason. Been watching Andy Anderson for a few weeks now and he seems so passionate about skateboarding. It's awesome!
go listen to Nocturnal Flies new full blown album Sequence of Cobras. ear splitting tunage
Absolute masterpiece, i love reliving this video every time i introduce a new friend to Andy Anderson and Brett Novak if they haven't heard of either. Brett, you make incredible inspiring breathtakingly beautiful skate short films that really showcase the beauty of skateboard spots and the creativity humans can have with them. Andy, you're the GOAT of skating, no questions asked. You are the most creative skater that's out there
🙏🙏🙏
Started skating in Malibu in 1980 and this is one of the best movies I've seen since wheels of fire.
best skate video ever seen because of the song the quality of the producing and other stuff not only judging on skate technic.
epik work
This short film was outstanding, really well filmed! Just jaw dropping man
He skates in such a way that makes me feel... A true ART
This dude can literally skate anything! That stall on that chain was sick!! And the moon walk across the water!!
My favorite skater, he is a great skater and person and I love how he supports helmets and wants to change the taboo of being safe in the sport 🪖
I agree, the fact you never see him without a helmet is such a good example.
Very cool that you wear an helmet. Keep up with the cool tricks.Nice style!!
I was a skater too, when I was young. Now it makes me happy to watch some folks like Andy. He is truly inspiring ♥ amazing guy.
This is the most Andy Andy video. Expressive, creative, sensitive and RAD AS HELL! You look so carefree and you make me feel a sense of wonder and possibility for skateboarding that I felt as a kid. This is pure inspiration.
Well said!! 👍👍
i was living in van for 10 months and i had my board with me. Such a nostalgic moment to see these spots again :) Great performance!
Andy is the Kazuma Kiryu of skateboarding. He's got almost all the skill trees maxed out for different disciplines of skating.
This generations Rodney Mullen...... brilliance.
Exactly my thoughts. Such a connection between a man and his board is quite rare.
I wouldn't even try to compare Rodney Mullen to this. Rodney's pretty much responsible for all the flip tricks you see in skateboarding today. This guy seems closer to Mike V more than anything...
