In a meme featuring the former Minnesota governor, Luttrell made it clear where he stands on the issue.The post had more than 66,500 likes and over 43,000 shares as of Wednesday evening.
He later uploaded two more memes bashing Ventura. He also wrote, “I don’t want to formally say anything because I don’t want to get sued but this about sums it up…”
It’s safe to say Luttrell, who was close to Chris Kyle and remains close with his family, would like to say a lot more than what is written in these memes

From where I'm sitting, Chris Kyle was a warrior who briefly lost his way. I've told lies much worse than that. Like all of us, Chris Kyle made a terrible mistake, but I cannot judge him. He was much more of a man that me. I wish I had served in the military.

I commented on a video about that vid. Kyle broke Jesse with the lies. He was a shaking shell of his former self with Rogan. That's extreme stress folks. That's dealing with people who know it was all a lie but say we know who Jesse is, yeah me too. He's an unfairly judged man who's integrity was destroyed. Guys that signed up post 9/11 were brainwashed used and left out in the cold in many different ways. If it wasnt for support from communities and private organizations there would be mass suicides/homelessness among vets even more than there is already. My point is nobody knows what these guys go through and suffer from every day. The average person can't imagine what it's like to be transformed into a killer and then try and reintegrate soldiers back into society once they get out. Every mission is a kill or be killed scenario, cant even imagine what they witnessed and had to accomplish. Speaking of the court records, the witnesses that Chris Kyle (CK) produced at trial could not confirm what happened. Their accounts disagreed with each other, and particular details they could not recall accurately or admitted they didn’t know.

Kyle's widow wasn't targeted by Ventura and his legal team. All the money was covered by the publishing company's insurance company.....every cent. The widow and her kids were out absolutely nothing, and everyone in the courtroom, except the jury, knew it. With all due respect to Marcus Luttrell he is talking absolute crap. Chris Kyle's publishing company had insurance against inaccuracies in the his book. His widow's legal fees were also covered by the publishing company unlike Jessie Ventura who had to pay his own legal fees all by himself as he had no insurance. So on that note in this interview Marcus Luttrell doesn't know WTF he is talking about. He is just waffling BS about the Seal community that has got nothing whatsoever to the lies that were published in Chris Kyle's book. I must not be fully aware of Ventura’s position on 9/11 because I thought he said that the Govt was aware something was going to happen but not specifically the exact plane scenario. Luttrells story seems shaky now. Lot of inconsistencies about him being the lone survivor of the fight. Lots of questions...number of mags he had left, how long other members lived... lot of things he couldn't have known and its understandable but things are pointing to another member being alive for days after and when recovered multiple days later, looked to only have died a day or so before... im not saying its fact but it was said by members of the recovery team

If you’re being sued or investigated for any reason and you die, those lawsuits and investigations don’t go away when you’re buried; in fact, the governments don’t recognize your death until your Estate is closed. And, if the deceased’s Estate is being sued or is being investigated…tough luck on you, the Executor and the beneficiaries. Even more stuff; if the IRS or someone not associated with the Will can bring up reasonable suspicion of fraud concerning taxes or beneficiaries being excluded, the Executor, the attorneys for the Estate and whatever legal eagles helped write the Will, are fair game. And btw, Ventura went after the publishing/liability insurance, monies that were never going to the Kyle family in the first place, instead of Kyle himself, which he had every right to do so. The big question of course is, How many of Chris Kyle’s stories are actually true? And, how many of his stories were completely fabricated?
Chris Kyle’s medal count claim that he wrote in his book was discredited by the United States Department of Navy in 2016. Both the Navy Times and The Intercept reported that Mr. Kyle was warned by Navy personnel that the medal count in his manuscript was wrong and that he needed to correct it before publishing. Mr. Kyle obviously did not do that.
Mr. Kyle also claimed that he shot and killed 30 looters from atop the Superdome in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Those claims were discredited by both the United States Special Operations Command and Army Lieutenant General Russell Honore. Honore, who ran the ground troops in the Katrina aftermath, described Mr. Kyle’s story as “war story bullshit”.
In a 2012 interview with D Magazine, Mr. Kyle claimed that he shot and killed two would be car jackers at a gas station outside of Dallas TX. Kyle claimed the police were on the scene....and that the entire incident was caught on security camera tape.
When the story went through a fact-check, all of the documentation that would have existed if the story had been true, was non-existent: There were no police reports, no coroner’s report, no coroner’s inquest, no record from any district attorney’s office in Texas, no surveillance camera tape....and absolutely no newspaper coverage of this ever taking place.
As far as the Jesse Ventura story is concerned, HarperCollins, which published Mr. Kyle’s book, “American Sniper”, has since removed the entire chapter entitled, “Punching Out Scruff Face” from the book. The Coronado Police did NOT back up Mr. Kyle’s claims either.

Ventura did not sue Kyle's widow. Ventura was slandered by Kyle verbally as well as in published text. The law suit was filed before Kyle was murdered. Ventura was forced to spend a great deal of money to defend his honor and has been unjustly condemned by a large portion of his comrades in arms. Kyles estate earned several million dollars from the book he wrote and his family are in no way destitute. Those attacking Ventura for defending his honor seem to lack that trait themselves. Kyle brought this upon himself and his family because he was dishonest. He sacrificed his honor for money and fame.

I'm sure they're more disturbed by the fact Ventura lied about being a SEAL for decades as well as what he did in Vietnam. UDT and SEALs were not the same then and did two different jobs. While a few UDT guys saw some action, the majority didn't. Ventura never came close to it and could have volunteered for ST1 at any time, but didn't. SEALs were in the thick of it in Vietnam and then Ventura used their reputation to profit off of. He lied for decades about being a SEAL and what he did, which in the community is far worse than anything Kyle said. At least that man went to battle and fought in intense combat with his SEAL brothers, which garners 100x more respect than lying about doing it when he never had.

I saw the interview where Ventura found out what Luttrell said. It made me sad. He was obviously hurt that yet another SEAL, one that he knows personally, would attack him for trying to clear his name. SEALs talk a lot about not leaving a brother behind. But they abandoned Jesse Ventura.
I saw that one too. You could tell he was really hurt with that one as he heard it for the first time. Minutes later he was still asking the interviewer "did he really say that?"

I don't think Luttrell attacked him. He seemed respectful to me. He just wanted Ventura to drop the suit. He said he didn't know what happened and that Ventura was his senior and that he respected him as a fellow SEAL. He basically said that Ventura's dogged pursuit of the defamation suit against the Kyle family was in some sense characteristic of the SEAL mentality of winning ever fight they start, but was calling to him to let this one go.
This made me throw away Marcus's book in disgust.
