@@dwoolaver1549 I don't think at the time many people would have watched a movie of Navy SEALs bungling up an operation and getting massacred in an ambush by a few squads of Taliban. It wouldn't be much of a Hollywood spectacle.
A lot of people will dislike this comment and be upset at this but it’s the sad truth. Let me start off by saying they’re all hero’s but I don’t think Marcus is as big of a hero as he lets on. I honestly believe Gulab that he had his 11 magazines still filled with ammo and he barely fired any shots. I think he got shot twice (which is the confirmed amount of times he was actually shot) and he ran. I think he got scared and left his friends to die to the Taliban. He was supposed to be their medic, their backup and he was supposed to go down fighting with them if it came to that. He says in his speeches he broke his neck, back, was shot 11 times and crawled 7 miles. They were only 0.7 miles from the village. Everybody in the village heard them land then the next morning they were tracked by maybe 8-15 guys and were outgunned. It’s sad and they are hero’s so I’m not putting them down. Just kind of makes me sick to think one made millions using his “friends” deaths and exaggerating his story. He used Gulab for promoting the movie and money. I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same when it came to fleeing the battle but that’s why I’m not going to go out and join the armed forces unless it’s absolutely necessary because these “strong” guys are strong until they get stuck in the oven. Then they flee and he said himself he covered his ears to drown out the noise of his friend dying. Instead of trying to help him he put his weapon down and let it happen. He may not have been able to save him but he shouldn’t have just fled. He says he joined because he knew he would be an “expendable” asset but when it comes down to it he didn’t want to die for his friends and his country. Gulab is the true hero of this story (aside from the three that fought to their deaths.) he had six kids, a wife and a business and he put it all on the line to save one American soldier that wound up using him and sending him back home. Gulab has honor, Marcus seemed to drop his honor when he fled from a fight that killed his squad mates. Of course this mission was planned poorly. They should have had more fire power, more members and they should have found a quieter way in.
Thats Not Danny thats Mike Murphy. Danny had to be dead around that time. Only heard one M4 go off. Marcus said Mike was yelling "help me" before he died. Noticed after that you heard nothing but supressed weapons being fired.
Luttrel is such a grifter, bro didn’t fire a single shot and left his friends to be killed by 8 taliban, then became a millionaire after saying he fought off a horde of 100
So true brother! Lutterel was lone bulshitter in chief . This and the British " bravo two zero ", both involving goat herders ! Absolutely fairy stories.
The film itself was incredibly upsetting to watch but to watch real footage of it is extremely heartbreaking. They died as warriors and their memory will stay alive and they will never be forgotten. R.I.P Danny Dietz, Michael Murphy and Matthew Axelson 🥺😢🙏👼🏻
Too many speculators who didn't read the book or the reports. Dietz is the only one without a suppressor, most of that return fire is him and him alone. Marcus was a spotter for Axelson, Murphy had a suppressed M4, Axe and Marcus had suppressed MK12s. Only 7 Taliban are with Shah armed with two PKMs, four AK47s and one RPG-7 and a cameraman. Andrew Macmannis, Marine commander apart of Operation Red Wings II stated 0 Taliban casualties. I'll cite Ed Darack as a 2nd source. Marcus also contradicted his own AAR when writing his book.
Ed Darrack is a fool with a a vendetta. Desperately tried to sell his book. There was only 8 guys ON FILM by that camera. Taliban uses guys in multiple positions. Fact remains the SEAL team was outnumbered and heavily out gunned as they had not 1 belt fed nor rockets and were retreating down a mountain.

Luttrell made out there was 200 enemy fighters. The military say 30. The Afghan who rescued him said less than 9, plus soldier's that have been to that same spot fighting and who knew that area well said they don't even have 20 fighters in that area. Luttrell embellished.
@quotetheraven90 dude you realise that the 9 you see on the video aren’t even in combat? Marcus’ book is full of lies and exaggerations. The official military story is filled with even more lies. The film is complete fabrications. The man who saved Marcus was eventually abandoned and ignored by Marcus and the military. They screwed him
A common misconception is that people believe that SF’s usual role is to get into firefights. That’s not their main purpose. Usually just as this operation was supposed to be - Reconnaissance, gathering intel behind enemy lines. SF or not. Being outnumbered is always bad.
Stupidity from the beginning. Leaving drop ropes at the DZ, landing near the recce point, half of them had combat experience, calling in an evac chopper into hostile territory and airspace, isolated from air support, no SAW gunner - the list goes on. The squad sized Marine element they vultured the mission from who actually knew the area told them to bring different radios, nope. Told them to walk in, nope.. told them to bring the SAW, nope. One of the biggest weaknesses of high tier SF units who haven’t seen much combat is their inability to understand that in a fair distance fight in equal visibility. They lose every advantage they enjoy, night vision, better range and precision. As soon as it boils down to rifleman range in daylight, a single 10 to 12 man squad will wipe out a 4 man SF team on even grounding. And that’s what happened here. 8 to 12 estimated Taliban walked up the mountain and capitalised on every poor decision the seals made. But Hollywood and the guys made a great job covering up the story for those back home, the propaganda machine. They should have been at home with their families, or receiving ADEQUATE training.
For the People here to argue about Marcus. Here’s your answer. Marcus said he didn’t fight much while shit was going down. Doesn’t mean he didn’t do anything. Marcus started with 9 mags of 5.56 30-31 bullets in each magazine. Marcus had a semi-auto That That’s 290-299 5.56 bullets right there. He said he had 2 mags left so he shot out 7 mags. So he pulled that trigger 210-217 times.
Jay Steele idk if that’s true. Other sources said he had 2 left and other said he had all of his mags. Other sources said he lost all of his mags, so I’m not truly sure what happened
"no evidence of a huge firefight"... well, assuming this video is real, it sounded like a pretty significant firefight to me............... doesn't sound like these sources are very credible...

Based solely on what happened in the movie, I wouldn’t have let the kids and old man go. I would have taken them with me to the extraction point then set them free. By the time they return to their village, you’re long gone.
What's even more sad is that for people that can define the different types of weapons being fired we know how many shots are coming from the seals and the talis so we can tell that they are literally being barged with rounds while they only have 4 guys in the fight its sad
Yes you can clearly tell there is more than only 7 tali firing , probably not 35 like luttrel claimed but maybe 15 … and 15 on 4 when they have high ground and have you surrounded is a bad day
@@JGstunts22 ya it's easy to mess up a number of people when you're being shot at thrown down hill being shot and watching your buddy's be blow apart and dying all around you while in the mean time you're trying the talis that outnumbered you by enough
You know what pisses me off? That there were no enemy casualties found. I hope a couple of them died. But the whole book and movie about this story is complete bullshit, even military personnel that were there during that time have spoken about the story that Marcus told. There weren't that many Talibán, and I believe these Seals went down pretty quick. It was a big failure, but it wasn't their fault. It was the fault of their leaders. That is why you will never know the truth. They have to protect the high ranks of the military so they won't look bad. These guys were in a horrible position, they didn't stand a chance. Marcus is a lucky man for sure. God bless all those men that died that day.
What is the status update of the third video? And can you tell us the truth about what happened, why did danny, matthew, and mike had a lot of bullet wounds but marcus only had 1 or 2?
Ciduf Giidd I can only speculate that Marcus left his team. He called himself a coward because he stopped shooting to cover his ears. It's been said that he was found with all his ammo(meaning he never shot once). He retreated, got shot, fell off a cliff, and was found by that man that saved his life. That's the only thing that makes sense to me, if he would've stayed fighting like the other guys, he would've been killed too.
Honestly he has lied so much that the battle was probably completely different than what he has said in the book and interviews. I wouldnt mind seeing a translation of what the taliban are saying throughout the battle. They probably would have mention something if they saw one of them fleeing the fight.
Re his actions that day His peers are the only ones who can speak to that. It's the rules of brotherhood. Everything after that is fair game. Re the video Please be patient. I cant do this alone and I have an obligation to be as fair and accurate as possible. These 19 heroes deserve respect and dignity always, as does Gulab and his family.

Baldy i think that’s true Marcus said as soon as he shot all hell broke lose maybe not 100 or more men but it sounds like the suppressed rifle and shot he said he took that started the gunfight so I think this is true
I’ve heard from some big names in the seal community that the story Marcus told was a stretch.. they get extremely frustrated and annoyed when him and his story is brought up. The only thing they will say however is .. “that’s not how it happened”
How can they be frustrated when Marcus is talking even in strach way about his colleagues braveness. Cmon, be a man. Maybe they weren't fighint 100 talibans, so what.

@@ellea3344 that’s called Survivors Guilt. He overanalyzed the situation and blamed himself afterwards. It’s a basic human instinct hen something traumatic happens.
The movie (while very good) isn't 100% true to how the events happened that day. Much of it was embellished for Hollywood. SEALs will almost always carry suppressors due to the nature of their ops, but it is at the discretion of the operator to use it unless otherwise dictated during mission planing. Since this was a recon mission to provide intel for the Marine assault that was to be conducted later on the village it is likely that all 4 operators carried carbines instead of a long range weapon as they were not planning to intentionally engage the enemy. In the released footage of the looted equipment there is a suppressed SOPMOD M4 carbine. A total of 3 SOPMOD M4s (one of which was shown unsuppressed) were recovered by enemy forces so one could assume they belonged to the 3 fallen SEALs and that Marcus still had his weapon in his possession. The suppressed shots heard in this video are in rapid succession which makes it highly unlikely (but not impossible) that that kind of trigger pulling would have been coming from anyone with long scoped rifle. The suppressed Mk12 does not have such a sharp report from the round as it breaks the sound barrier. Those rounds sounded more like they came from a suppressed M4 firing the typical mil-spec ammo. Just to be clear. I am not bashing the movie nor calling anyone out on their previous comments.
As much as I respect Marcus luttrel he clearly lied big time about the enemy forces numbers it’s clear they were up against 10 ,12 or 15 soldiers there is no shame in it the fact that these men got into the seals in the first place shows the kind of warriors they were and there’s no doubt they faught hard to the last breath against still overwhelming odds against enemy’s who had the high ground and know the terrain very well my guess is by the footage I’ve seen before the fight one of the taliban shouted if you don’t fight we won’t kill you I’m guessing Marcus took the first shot and the firefight began .
@@sanandreasX there’s a lot of proof the guy lied. And if so, why were they not annihilated by a guy with a radio like we so often did with goat farmers so long as we thought pot shots were coming toward our troops from that general direction. Probably because it was just a small group with AK's who followed the track-leaving SEAL team and then lit their asses up. @@kts5920 You are bad at trolling. Grow up child.

A common misconception is that people believe that SF’s usual role is to get into firefights. That’s not their main purpose. Usually just as this operation was supposed to be - Reconnaissance, gathering intel behind enemy lines. SF or not. Being outnumbered is always bad.
an honor to fallen American soldiers, may their souls rest in peace, and their land be light. Czech Republic
Correct me if I'm wrong, but SAWs were only implemented in recce teams because of this cluster fuck of an op

Your right. Army/Navy Cmd blamed each other
What is the status update of the third video?

Maybe they weren't fighint 100 talibans, so what.
mateusz W Honestly the guys I know are old school. I don’t feel like I have the right to explain how they feel.. I don’t want to misrepresent.
@@mydnajt they’re frustrated because Markus lied about multiple other things too
There are photos of ML in BAF Bagram, Parwan province after he was recovered without a scratch. He is a total fraud
I love the navy seals and God bless those seals who fought along side Markus latrell
Marcus Luttrell*
Baldy Luttrel* bitch ass
Nobody fough beside Luttrell, because Luttrell beat feet down the hill without his team. Luttrell did not fight. In his own words to Anderson Cooper on CNN, "I put my weapon down in a gun fight... I was a coward." And then to be another, but much more disgraceful, Jessica Lynch story for the Navy to propagandize war... sick. Luttrell is a blue falcon... to the men he did not fight for on Sawtalo Sar, and the man that saved his life... and for personal fame and profit. Luttrell is a coward and a Trident Whore.
@@ellea3344 that’s called Survivors Guilt. He overanalyzed the situation and blamed himself afterwards. It’s a basic human instinct hen something traumatic happens.
@@Penigale He was coward. He abandon the man that saved his life to spread lies for personal profit.
So that doesn’t look like 200 insurgents…lies
0:37 Ahmad Shah spying on the seals.
Marcus lutrell ran away had all 11 mags on him was not shot, he is a coward he left his team to die
Victor Duran so most of what we hear is ak and pkm?
As much as I respect Marcus luttrel he clearly lied big time about the enemy forces numbers it’s clear they were up against 10 ,12 or 15 soldiers there is no shame in it the fact that these men got into the seals in the first place shows the kind of warriors they were and there’s no doubt they faught hard to the last breath against still overwhelming odds against enemy’s who had the high ground and know the terrain very well my guess is by the footage I’ve seen before the fight one of the taliban shouted if you don’t fight we won’t kill you I’m guessing Marcus took the first shot and the firefight began .
The taliban would’ve captured them and have them beheaded rather die in a gunfight than be beheaded. Also I wonder if they killed any taliban fighters
@@joshwarner1390 I read online that Danny had like 34 unconfirmed kills on that mountain.
@@sanandreasX that’s bull. How can you have 30+ unconfirmed kills when only 8 taliban are seen?
@@chillout8320 I mean it's what Marcus said, ya' know the guy that was actually there.
@@sanandreasX there’s a lot of proof the guy lied. From statement from the villages people, statements from the rangers and seals who rescued him, to statements from high ranking people in charge of that area, the camera footage of the battle, and the fact Markus changes the story in every interview and book.
You can hear the suppressed shots. Quick disciplined shots.
When people ask me " do you guys wear hearing protection". .....
My heart goes out to these professionals and to all my brothers who have fought in combat. Bad juju and the feeling is like no other.
That fucking terrain is horrible for fighting unless you're the one ambushing.
Where are the full videos? Anyone knows? Thanks

Wow. Facing that fire at 3:26. RIP seals.

I'd like to know if there was ever a "100 strong" Taliban force all in the same area at once. And if so, why were they not annihilated by a guy with a radio like we so often did with goat farmers so long as we thought pot shots were coming toward our troops from that general direction. Probably because it was just a small group with AK's who followed the track-leaving SEAL team and then lit their asses up. This seems a great example that the SEALs are more or less useless in battle unless they can slip in and out of places undetected.
@Jay Steele🌹 so of the 8 to 10 guys engaging them 3 of them had PKM's?
@Jay Steele🌹 Yea you're right I never really tried to make out what was in the video too much because I'd never heard they had machine guns but I did see at least one slung on a shoulder. They had at least one RPG too looks like so definitely heavily armed. Even if they just had AK's those SEALs would have been fucked though. The terrain they had to evade through while being trailed the whole time having lost any tactical advantage from the start was basically a death sentence.
Translation.... "Oh god I'm shit'n my dress, Oh god I'm shit'n my dress"
Salutes..Hats off to these 4 Warriors and Family..
3 warriors
There were only 8 ACM. In the interview with Shah he says they knew they were coming and set an ambush. I always knew that goat herder story made no sense, probably another lie
