You hit the nail on the head! I served with guys like Kyle, who inflated combat experiences they had because of their huge egos. The problem with public perception of service members -- thanks to the way mainstream media portrays them -- is that they can do no wrong. The media organizations that endorsed Kyle's book used that distorted perception of veterans to their advantage; their sole objective was to maximize profits, even if the information in his book was not based in fact. With that in mind, it was in the best interest of those organizations that Ventura lose the lawsuit. As you stated, if Ventura won the lawsuit, that would also give him grounds to sue the media organizations that endorsed Kyle's book. However, the last I read, Ventura settled with Kyle's Estate. I am assuming there was a fairly large, undisclosed settlement paid out to him.
I really don't get it. Seems to be a case of "appeal to pity" which is a fallacy of logic. For people who argue for the widow, even if she had to pay the money instead of the insurance, why would it be wrong? If your name is worth, let's say, 10 million. Someone lies about you and destroys your name to earn 10 million. He dies and leaves that money to his wife and children. Why is the fact that he died or she is a widow even relevant? That's like saying that if someone steals your life's saving, dies and leave all the money that he stole from you to his wife and children, the wife should keep that money because she is now a widow. Has the Estate of Kyle even acknowledged that the book was a lie? If not, I wouldn't blame Ventura if he decides to take it to the Supreme court since his award was rejected on appeal.

It always puzzles me, at the time of the incident jesse was already famous, actor, politician if he was actually punched, wouldnt have at least a mention in the news?"famous guy is punched",but they have nothing, zero, so it is quite hard to belive in Kyle story.
Exactly. Plus this didn't happen in some dive bar, this supposedly happened in a famous SEAL bar in Coronado that was packed after a BUDS graduation ceremony. It was like a year or two between the time Kyle said he knocked out Jesse to when he went on O'Reilly and elsewhere to claim it happened. Are we really supposed to believe Jesse Ventura went to a BUDS/SEAL graduation ceremony, went to McP's after, loudly said the SEALs "deserve to lose a few", got punched out by Chris Kyle in a crowded SEAL bar, and yet nobody talked about it until Kyle mentioned it happened only when he's promoting his book? Exactly.
its too bad chris kyle didnt live long enough to hear the verdict of that trial just so he could be called a liar to his face, right before he gets shot and killed by the ptsd marine.
I don’t agree with a lot of the leftist theories but Jesse Ventura isn’t a liar. He may be a pothead but not a liar. I’d vote for him for president. The truth will set us free

This is classic US government wanting to discredit Jesse . Guess they really did not want Jesse to run for president. They got what they wanted didnt they??
It's funny. I grew up watching Jesse Ventura as a kid. I didn't know he was a SEAL until he was governor. Why? Because he didn't talk about it. He didn't write a book about it. He didn't promote his wresting and movies as "Navy SEAL Jesse Ventura". Today's military culture is much different. People want to milk their military service to the very last drop!
@@patl4416 UDT are SEALs. That's why the training is called Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL training. When they completed BUDs training, they stood in line and were assigned to either a SEAL or UDT team. They all go through the EXACT same training program. Ventura is recognized as a SEAL within the SEAL community.
There is a growing rift in the team between the older hands who are the "we don't talk about our jobs" and some of the newer guys who have told their stories for money when they got out.
Chris Kyle was a liar, he also served his country in remarkable fashion. I don't know how to feel about him honestly. I fully support Jesse Ventura in his quest to clear his name as he does not deserve to be smeared. I think Kyle deserves to have his reputation tarnished a bit, but I do not think I am going to call him a piece of shit either.
When this broke out what made me believe chris was a pathological liar was when he tried to discredit Ventura within the seals community . He knew he was about to drop the mask right there . Karma always gets you in the end .
Well also the fact he didn't have the balls to call him out by name. Like, if the story was real, having his actual name in it leads to nothing. He went fully out of his way to name him something else, but heavily implicate that it was Jesse. IMO, to call yourself a SEAL and then not have the guts to say his name with the story? That's complete disrespect.
Chris Kyle went around from talk show to talk show….magazine to magazine….telling one fabricated story after another. Chris Kyle was a prolific serial liar. His trove of fabricated stories were long ago discredited by personnel in the United States Department of Navy, the United States Department of Army, the United States Special Operations Command as well as U.S. law enforcement.
I hate to admit it, but I was wrong, I originally believed the story that Chris has told, but now, having seen Jesse tell this story at least a dozen times, his reaction, his telling of it, it is always bang on the same...now, I heard Chris tell his version a few times, and he seemed credible, but Jesse says things that were never made public by the family, such as this lawsuit did not affect them personally, it was covered by the book publishers liability insurance...while I still believe that the majority of Chris' story is true, I'm not so sure on this aspect...
James Green - None of Chris Kyle’s “Jesse Ventura Story” was true. The entire story was a hoax. Chris Kyle claimed in both radio and television interviews that he punched out Jesse Ventura in full view of the police at McP’s bar in Coronado CA. Mr. Kyle also claimed that Mr. Ventura was seen with a black eye the following day at the SEALS Graduation celebration. Yet, Mr. Kyle’s story did not hold up under fact-checking and legal scrutiny. First, the Coronado Police did not back up Mr. Kyle’s claim. Instead, the Coronado Police issued a letter that was submitted in court that contradicted Mr. Kyle’s assertion that their officers were on the scene at McP’s. Second, photographs from the following day at the SEAL graduation clearly show Mr. Ventura without a black eye or any facial injuries, thereby contradicting Mr. Kyle’s other assertions. Mr. Kyle had the opportunity to defend himself at a 2012 pre-trial video taped deposition. Under cross examination from Ventura’s lawyers, Mr. Kyle gave answers that were inconsistent with previous details that he had given in his book. Mr. Kyle’s answers were played in front of a jury. In 2014, HarperCollins, which published Mr. Kyle’s book, “American Sniper”, announced that they were removing the entire chapter entitled, “Punching Out Scruff Face” from future printings of the book. The fact that Mr. Kyle’s own publisher ultimately refused to stand behind his story speaks volumes. Chris Kyle, like Stephen Glass (fired from the New Republic).....or Alicia ‘Tania’ Head (fake 9/11 stories) clearly thought nobody would ever fact-check his fabricated stories.
Once a liar will always be a liar. Nothing he says is truth. It’s exaggerated and it’s other peoples stories or accomplishments that he takes credit for while he had no involvement whatsoever.
With all do respect Chris Kyle got gullible people like you to buy into his fabricated stories, him killing two people for trying to steal his truck, snipping from on top of the superdome, and punching out Jesse Venture was all bullshit just sell books and to play into his ego that he was some badass when in reality he was a liar who threw his integrity away for money
It's no win situation. You sit still and people are left with Kylie version of events. You defend yourself and win your case only to stir up bad feeling from members of the public. Everybody loses here. The 1.8 million doesn't turn back the clock. I believe Jesse would have dropped it if Chris had made amends.
Governor, actor, professional wrestler athlete, Navy Seal respected by his peers all facts about Jesse Ventura. No Navy Seal support Chris Kyle yet I still see comments dogging Mr Ventura.
@@Thunderchild-gz4gc Ventura is nuts, but I've never heard him to lie. He's got a LOT of political views I vehemently disagree (Lets just say I'm not a libertarian lol), but for the most part he's at least consistent about the libertarian stuff, he's not just a republican who wants to smoke pot. And I can *kinda* respect that.
@Shayne O'Neill Jesse and Chris both exaggerated their military careers. Chris was a legit Navy sniper but for whatever reasons lied about killing bad guys in New Orleans.
Kyle's character has been well established and who knows what he did in Iraq or wherever else he served? How many innocent civilians did he kill simply because he was a psychopath? Not only Kyle but so many others. That's why America is hated around the world.
Have you read any of his books? He never claimed to kill and children and he only mention killing a women who pulled the pin of a grenade, about to throw it at marines.
OK people, just to make a couple of things perfectly clear, Kyle NEVER punched Ventura at the bar, this was proven in a court of law, even Kyle's friends in court could not say he punched him. There is an overwhelming amount of eyewitness and photographic evidence supporting Ventura in this. Second, Kyle did NOT get in a gunfight and kill a person at a gas station like he said he did, this is a fact, he also DID not go to New Orleans during Katrina to shoot looters. He DID however have an absolutely amazing military career and provided invaluable support to operations in the middle east. He IS one of the best American snipers of all time and did unfortunately lose his life tragically trying to do something amazing, helping vets with PTSD on his own dime. These are all facts that can be verified, Ventura is not doing this for money, he offered point blank to drop the suit if Kyle would admit he never punched him, Kyle refused, his family will NOT lose any money as a result of the suit, an insurance company pays for it. Ventura was at the time far more famous and recognizable than Kyle. Ventura is also a former SEAL with two combat tours in Vietnam, do you really think Ventura would A) Bad mouth his old unit like that? B) Do so publicly? C) Go to a celebration for a BUD/S class graduation if he did hold those views? D) Go through with a lawsuit that has already to this point cost him well in excess of 1 million dollars with no return if he wasn't telling the truth?
Just because a person served their country doesn't mean they don't have character flaws. Kyle obviously had issues. The superdome statement is a perfect example of that.
The jury sided with the celebrity in this case instead of the grieving widow of the "hero". How stupid do you have to be to not see that Kyle made the whole thing up
This is the real money in politics. After this, Ventura will never hold another public office. He was en route to run for president. This is sad, and America is up the bullshit.
Nah dude, I like Jesse but he wasn't gonna run ever, and he's made clear the only terms he'd accept to do so would be if he was on all 50 state ballots and was included in the debates. Which is fair, he'd run on the Green ticket, but he and all of us know it's a corrupt two-party system that stifles challenges. Don't forget, he won his Minnesota gubernatorial race with little money and polling but once he was allowed to debate the GOP and Dem nominees, he demolished them and won. He beat both parties precisely because he was included in the debates. They won't allow that to happen again.
I harken back to Alvin York over 100 years ago. Had it not been for that one day in the Argonne Forest, most of us likely would have never heard of him. He would have been some faceless country bumpkin (sorry for having offended anyone). But, when he returned stateside to much fanfare, he turned down a lucrative endorsement deal that would have set him up nearly for life. The reason? Because they did what they had to do, and not everyone in his unit came back home. "Things like that aren't for buying and selling." That's integrity. Chris Kyle? He not only embellished, if not outright lied about, his record, he profited from it. Greatly. Sorry, G-d rest his soul, but I have no respect for someone like that.
I agree w Jesse. I don't think anybody....should be coming out w books immediately after the fact. That stuff is not supposed to EVER be advertised. I would love to chat w Mr. Ventura on that issue. One has to ask the question 'if Chris Kyle lacked integrity, how many people did he kill that were not warranted'? Surely another question that needs to be asked is 'at some point killing by a sniper must become just a bit too easy, so at what point should they be removed from that job'?
Dude Your hero Jesse is no hero! He's as phony as his wrestling career! It's true I was never in the military but I have a lot of friends who are and they are the ones who told me Jesse wasn't a real Seal . So I did some research which lead to a lot of research that proves without question Jesse is not nor ever was a real seal . He has never been on a real combat mission. JESSE THE FRAUD VENTURA!
If he was never a real SEAL they would exclude him from that tradition he mentions of returning to meet new members on his own training anniversary. So by their own measure, Jesse is a SEAL. I'm not going to argue with them about their own organisation, Im sure he gets alot of criticism also but its not my argument to mess with
Are you not allowed to do research? The navy seals got a petition to have Venturas name banned anything to do the Seals . Anyone can greet new seals. Jessy did go through basic training underwater demolition and that's not a easy task . But that alone would not qualify Jessie to be a seal! The seals did not exist at that time but they incorporated that training in today's Seals. That fact alone makes it impossible for Jessie to be a navy seal. If Jessie is asked directly if he is in factually a real navy seal he will not give a definitive answer. It's a simple yes or no question. The real answer is NO! His own lawyer warned him not to say he is a seal. He brags about him being >>probably

Exactly.
its too bad chris kyle didnt live long enough to hear the verdict of that trial just so he could be called a liar to his face, right before he gets shot and killed by the ptsd marine.
that's how they tell us he died. it doesn't make sense.
I don’t agree with a lot of the leftist theories but Jesse Ventura isn’t a liar. He may be a pothead but not a liar. I’d vote for him for president. The truth will set us free
William Rojas he’s not a pothead... its for his wife who has seizures he doesn’t smoke it
Why does it look like the producers of the show said "perhaps you'd feel more comfortable in this" and handed both of them a sports jacket from the prop storage :)
Some of these comments 🤣 "how dare you do this to a fallen veteran?" Shitt how dare Kyle tell all these lies about his service, especially to a brother in arms jessee ventura,I'm not gonna defend Kyle I'm not going to thank him for his service,he tarnished his own reputation, what I don't understand is when Kyle lied it just opened the door to a massive amount of untruths, guess he thought he was too admired and couldn't loose 🙄
This is classic US government wanting to discredit Jesse . Guess they really did not want Jesse to run for president. They got what they wanted didnt they??
They succeeded. They also murdered Chris Kyle because they were afraid he was such a simpleton he was going to spill the beans.
Chris Kyle was a DOUSCHER for this and and however many other lies he spread.....
I'm so glad we have people like Jesse Ventura in this world. One of my all-time favorite people. It's such a shame what happened to him.
Did you serve ?
@@donbaine118 how is that even relevant to what hes talking about?
He is not a seal. He is a udt
I think Kyle deserves to have his reputation tarnished a bit, but I do not think I am going to call him a piece of shit either.
no im so offended...
drjeopyl well said.
That's fair.
You may have courage but honesty is the deepest courage a human can show
Jesse Ventura is a Great Man !
War does not make heroes. War makes widows and orphans. War makes weapon merchants $$$.
@@hkhilner Spot on !
If this happened there where were the people who saw Chris Kyle punch Jessie? Nowhere because he made the whole story up.
Moral courage is so much more rare than physical and combat courage.
Absolutely. The fact that American society would hold Kyle out as a hero is deeply disturbing.
Chris Kyle saved many soldiers lives.
I LOVE JESSIE!!
The seals abandoned Ventura wtf you talking about
Watch the Graham bensinger interview
I believe Jesse....Kyle is a liar ...
They both are.
Chris was a legit Navy sniper but for whatever reasons lied about killing bad guys in New Orleans.
he got Karma for sure.
@@triggered8556 Why would he? He knows the scorn he would have received as well as a court marshall.
Pete S. Correct, he knew the ROE and stuck by that.
I appreciate the commentary on this post...I expected Jesse vitriol, but found the support he deserves 👏!
Only thing I agree with TYT about is Criss Kyle.
Lmao I bet Jesse Ventura could kick Chris Kyles ass.
Ryan Busillo I believe it, Jesse has that natural intimidating figure about him
OK people, just to make a couple of things perfectly clear, Kyle NEVER punched Ventura at the bar, this was proven in a court of law, even Kyle's friends in court could not say he punched him.
D) Go through with a lawsuit that has already to this point cost him well in excess of 1 million dollars with no return if he wasn't telling the truth?
spot on :)
he would go through with the lawsuit if not doing it meant destroying his image, which is clearly his bread and butter.
Jesse Ventura can get employment. Nasa can use his ears to listen out for aliens.
Just because a person served their country doesn't mean they don't have character flaws. Kyle obviously had issues. The superdome statement is a perfect example of that.
I stand with Jessie
The jury sided with the celebrity in this case instead of the grieving widow of the "hero". How stupid do you have to be to not see that Kyle made the whole thing up
Jesse's side is watertight. Glad he prevailed.
@@citypopFM exactly, the real money in politics. It isnt in party spending, its in who profits off keeping the game rigged for 2 parties.
@@fettbub92 Exactly. Jesse knows what it is. The two parties are two sides of the same interests that run the entire system.
Lost a show about conspiracies , maybe that sniper guy was offered to lie . Ventura has got some political enemies.
Chris Kyle's book belongs in the fiction aisle at the book store.
jackriver1999 I say it belongs by Sun-tzu and Plato.
These interviews are great.
I had no idea Jesse Ventura was involved with The American Sniper guy whatsoever until I watched this
I agree w Jesse. I don't think anybody....should be coming out w books immediately after the fact. That stuff is not supposed to EVER be advertised. I would love to chat w Mr. Ventura on that issue. And I definitely think it was wrong to scapegoat him like that and he has the right to do something about it.

Yeah Clinton Obama Bush and Biden all lied to Americans Trump 2024
One has to ask the question 'if Chris Kyle lacked integrity, how many people did he kill that were not warranted'? Surely another question that needs to be asked is 'at some point killing by a sniper must become just a bit too easy, so at what point should they be removed from that job'?

He may well be a liar but where's the evidence that he's a psychopath, a racist and a murderer?
Only People who where never in the militaty are telling that Jessy was not a Seal
