I know I’m behind on my upload schedule, but I can assure you I’ll be back to the grind soon! I tried to upload videos while in Italy, but the wifi at the Airbnb was awful. I thought I’d start back up today with a “what I eat in a day” style video. What do you guys think? Would you like eating what we had in Rome?☺️
I'm in Rome right now, and the food is simply OK 👍. Nothing to leave your home for, Alhamdulilah we are blessed in the United States for access to amazing food! I miss my home food and can't wait to go back home and cook food that I know the ingredients and enjoy. The croissants taste exactly like the Costco croissants but what with some cream.
Fantasy Sehun InshaAllah you have an easy move and enjoy Italy ☺️ it really is a beautiful country and you’ll definitely be able to find halal options, kosher options, vegetarian, vegan and seafood options Alhamdulillah it’s a very diverse food culture there.
OMG everything looks so delicious! Glad you had fun, it's always important to take time out for yourself and just just enjoy the beauty around the world!! Italy looks so gorgeous! Definitely on my bucket list for next summer You seem so cool and would love to see more travel videos like these and travel vlogs!! Love and peace
Haylie B thank you ☺️ you’re going to love Italy! I do have a couple more travel vlogs up on my channel and a playlist of travel with my husband (pre-baby in Japan). Hoping to start travelling again after this pregnancy 👍🏻🥰
Assalamu alaykum. My sister I’m from Italy and I can guaranteed that most of the food that you ate for breakfast (croissants, brioche, cannolis)is Haram, this food contains pork fat. Usually Italians bakers use pork fat instead of butter. I always ask for vegan and if they don’t have alternative just avoid it. And the tiramisu contain alcohol.
Salam, just like you I am watchful when ordering anything from anywhere and asked about both alcohol and pork before purchasing anything. The sweets and breakfasts pastries were all butter based. So no they were not haram and the tiramisu didn’t contain alcohol. We specifically searched out for cafes that offered these options and ate at those cafes. I appreciate your concern, but saying I did something haram is not okay, because it assumes that I am sinning and I would never. And it assumes that after practicing islam for all my life that I wouldn’t do my due diligence and make sure what I consume is okay.
Please be careful when you eat fried food, they used lard on their oil. Lard is from animal fat usually pork, even cannoly. Also custard, they used gelatin to make it creamy. If it's not halal then please ask again..
Mien Murad yes you’re right. We did ask about oils before ordering anything fried Alhamdulillah we also mainly stuck to kosher cafes and diligently asked about gelatin in desserts. At the first cafe, the desserts we ordered were without gelatin, they had 100s pastries that looked tasty, but Alhamdulillah we still enjoyed the ones we got🙈
Salam, the last restaurant is not a halal restaurant. We had called a week in advance with request for halal meat (specified what we planned to order & paid a deposit in advance). Some restaurants will do this, some won’t. This one agreed and was kind about it. We do this also here in Canada. If ever there’s a restaurant we really would like to try then we call and ask and most of the time the restaurant can do it.
Muhd Firdaus yes, I asked each place about gelatine and all and then only purchased the items that did not contain gelatine 👍🏻 the best practice is to always ask and the last place was a kosher restaurant. There’s a Jewish district in Italy.
Yes, because we always speak to staff before placing an order and at certain restaurants we pre-book and they order halal for us. Restaurants who do this go to great lengths to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. The restaurants that go out of their way to order halal meat for us have always welcomed us to see their kitchens and were incredibly accommodating to us - which is why I shared them, because they deserve the shoutout for their hospitality and respect towards our religion. I really appreciate the lengths they’ve gone to to make us feel so welcomed, especially when other restaurants do not and even act like it’s a burden to have us.

Usually Italians bakers use butter or margarine, but not pork fat that is used in some traditional regional dish .

Sister, are you sure they cook halal meat, or your special order, not on the same pan as non halal meat or food that contains alcohol/lard?
