I only consider shiny hunting a waste of time if you can’t get the shiny.
So when you eventually get the shiny, it’s worth it for some people. If you spend months and you don’t get the shiny then that’s what I would call a waste of time. Taking a long time with no pay off.

I can’t speak for all shiny hunters but for me personally one aspect to the hunt is being rewarded for your hard work when you finally hatch or see the shiny appear on screen,another reason I do is because if I’m gonna breed top quality competitive Pokémon I might as well go all the way.

Literally just re bought Omega Ruby literally for this reason! Started shiny hunting in Gen 6. Became a shiny hunter by Gen 8.

How do you record?????
I recorded with obs on my pc using an emulator with my own dump of the game. It's possible to install a capture card into your 3ds but you'll have to go out of your way to do it. You can also stream your 3ds to your pc with honebrew, but it isn't that great and is only good on New 3ds systems🤗
