Its possible that Terry O' Quinn was playing another character. He actually played a different character way back in season 2, in the episode Aubrey. Unless that was the same character as the one here, and in the movie?!
He played 4 different characters in the X Files universe. A detective in season 2, an FBI agent in the first movie, a supersoldier in this episode, and hr played a recurring character in the Millennium series.
Sorry to say i know the shippers probably liked this one but I find it one of the most pretentious (especially that montage and voiceover) and ultimately annoying episodes of the series especially as we know darn well Mulder won't be showing up at the end, just the silly double jumping off the train. One of the worst for me.
