Developers are already being asked to ensure their games are compatible with this upcoming console, with a focus on improving ray tracing.
All of Sony’s changes point to a PS5 Pro that will be far more capable of rendering games with ray tracing enabled or hitting higher resolutions and frame rates in certain titles. Sony appears to be encouraging developers to use graphics features like ray tracing more with the PS5 Pro, with games able to use a “Trinity Enhanced” (PS5 Pro Enhanced) label if they “provide significant enhancements.”
The PS5 Pro GPU will be larger and use faster system memory to help improve ray tracing in games. Sony is also using a “more powerful ray tracing architecture” in the PS5 Pro, where the speed here is up to three times better than the regular PS5.
“Trinity is a high-end version of PlayStation 5,” reads one document, with Sony indicating it will continue to sell the standard PS5 after this new model launches. Sony is expecting game developers to have a single package that will support both the PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles, with existing games able to be patched for higher performance.
developers are able to order test kits right now and that Sony is expecting every game submitted to certification in August to be compatible with the PS5 Pro.
The PS5 Pro will also have some changes to system memory for developers. The standard PS5 memory runs at 448GB/s, but Sony is bumping this up by 28 percent to 576GB/s on the PS5 Pro. As the memory system is more efficient on the PS5 Pro, “the bandwidth gain may exceed 28 percent,” says Sony.
Developers will also get more access to overall system memory. Games can use an additional 1.2GB of system memory on the PS5 Pro, so that’s 13.7GB overall compared to the 12.5GB allocated to games on the base PS5.

Correction: it's very easy to reach 2k points IF you purchase full digital games otherwise every other task give no more than 50 points and many of them actually request to purchase a full game.

I care about 60fps WAY more than I care about ray tracing...or 4K for that matter. Give me a 1080p-1440p game locked at 60fps over 4K30 any day.
Dragon's Dogma 2 performance is embarrassing for a new release by a major studio. Screw ray tracing on the PS5. Just make the games run smoothly.

I am not buying a PS5 simply because the PS5 Pro is coming, and I want a console that has more performance and features that won't necessarily be available on the standard PS5. It makes sense to upgrade if you can; why wouldn't you? A better console with true 4K support and 8K sounds good to me. That new GPU is going to be good.

I never supported consoles, but as comment above said, go for consoles. Just don't purchase a 4k monitor. Games like FF7 Rebirth don't even look good at 1080p. Also get a deck for old games you might wanna play.

Im a PC and Nintendo guy havent had a sony console since ps3 just curios if theres any word if the current games that are having trouble running at 60fps will be able to hit that 60 at release of the ps5 pro. Im considering picking up a ps5 pro so if anyone have any info on this, I would appreciate the reply.
The PS5 Pro will be able to run any game currently available for PS5 at 4k 60FPS no problem.
The GPU is getting a massive upgrade and while Jimmy keeps throwing around the 10% CPU upgrade, the CPU/GPU combo (It'll be an APU) will be powerful enough to absolutely crush 4k 60fps.
Sony's aiming to hit 8k with the PS5 Pro, though who the heck has an 8k TV???? However, anything running at 8k would most definitely be upscaled performance mode specs.
TL;DR Yes. PS5 Pro will run games at 4k 60fps no sweat.

Oh, one more thing, the Pro will likey be able to run A LOT of games at 4k 120fps. So, there's that.

@@Whreck11 You make a good point and I could very well be overestimating the Pro's potential. The comment I replied to did ask if the current games struggling to hit 60fps will and I'm fairly certain the current games will be able to hit 4k 120fps no problem.
If games are GPU bound like the majority the pro will run 60 4k pssr, probably. However, games CPU bound will not get to 60 fps like dragons dogma 2 (a lot of npc actions at the same time) and probably gta6 (just speculation by those trailers) but the majority will be 60fps. Don't expect many new 3A games above 60 fps though, because games are getting more demanding.
I think it will come out this November.
I'm still sitting here with a PS4 Pro, so yea, Im ready for the PS5 Pro. Like yesterday. I thought about jumping on board with the PS5 Slim but decided since I have been waiting this long I would hold out for the Pro. Back then the PS5 Pro was still deep in rumor mode too. But I tell ya this waiting game is not happening for me next generation. As soon as the the PS6 is available at Sony's retail price I'm picking mine up.
I was lucky to get a ps5 release day and started a playstation physical game collection from Ps3 era to current gen. I have about 255 physical games since then and it sucks playstation stars only rewards points for purchases made digitally. It'd be awesome if they rewarded points for games played or hour played but i get it.

Sony cannot increase the PS5 hard drive at all, since it does not have one to begin with (unpess you are talking about an external hard drive), and instead uses a Solid State Drive.

I know your not that tech savvy but the reason that the CPU boost is only 10% is because of the power budget in the system(not monutary) The power supply can only be physically so large and the biggest performance gains in most games are to be gotten from the GPU this is literally the reason why the bump on the CPU is lower and the bump on the GPU is that large.

Jimmy I am a huge fan... Can I come stay with you... I will bring my own PS5 an Xbox series x.. an s .. an my own monitor.. or monitors. I have a LG ultra gear 31.5 inch.. two Acer 27 inch.. an a Samsung 32 inch.. I can't seem to get all the features up an running on each one.. Also a onn 27 inch which I have been very impressed by.. seems like it automatically sets itself.. depending on what system u have hooked to it.. this LG ultra gear 2k is giving me problems.. have not tried the other 3 .

Don't buy digital unless you absolutely have to, you are basically just renting and that license can be taken away at anytime (it's in the TOS) Just look at what's going on with people's purchases being removed. Also you have the benifiet of a used market with physical

I've been using my points I've had a few free £20 and I just got fc24 for £20 and got enough stars back to add to my stars and I'm just short of another £20 so the game cost me £20 so I just used the stars. I often forget about the challenges so I've started doing them all now I earn lots of stars for free

I have a nice pc and a PS5, I use my pc way more however I also work from home so that's partly why. Either way I won't be grabbing the pro annnnyyyy time soon. I simply just have no need for it. I think it's more for those that are playstion only no matter what. Idc what I play on, I play on what I enjoy the most.

No one with a PS5 and a working brain will waste 600€ on a PS5 Pro. Current PS5 games barely take advantage of the existing hardware, so there's no real good reason for a Pro. And developers are unlikely to waste a lot of time or money doing updates for this "Pro" when they can just spare the money and put it towards a PS6 version of the game.
Need 4k@90fps for every game should be the minimum in 2024

Wasn't a Fan of Rise of the Ronin. But ive been playing that Immortals of Aveum and its actually pretty AWESOME. But Looking at the PS5 Pro I have Concluded it won't be worth getting. Because it will not translate to much Real world difference. Especially right on Release.. Hell I didn't decide to get a PS5 until the very end of 2022. So I won't be getting the PS5 Pro any time Soon either. AMDs RT isn't really that good. So it will be a pass for me..
I Don't buy or Touch any Online Multiplayer or Games-as-a-DISservice GARBAGE.. If it isn't offline story-driven single-player games it ISN'T worth it.
Ps5 has been this biggest disappointment for me. All it is, is a slight graphical update and 60fps. I play my ps5 all the time like, but huuuge let down.
Would love ot if 30fps games ran smoothly too, like they did on ps4. Still baffles me how graphics mode just doesn't work on 90% of games. Everyone has to play performance for a stable game.

It's not that Xbox players are not willing to buy their games. They are just given choices. They are still buying into their games with GP. The devs are getting paid. The players give MS money for GP, and then MS gives devs money to keep gamers on GP. Fun Fact: Xbox players can buy GP games, and do. They even get a discount. BOOYAH, Touchdown.
I want to get a PS5 Pro but reliable sources such as DF are saying it will only improve frame rates in a few situations where the game is already almost hitting the 60 mark. It's just not worth the money and anyone with a 4090 would be insane to buy PS5 games when we all know those games will come to PC. A PS5 console is not needed anymore and mine has collected dust for almost a year now.
I assume you are gaming at 4K if your 4090 can't hit 60 in 2077 without DLSS. Mine can but it's a Strix OC and I'm running 1440p. I still use DLSS for the ray reconstruction. 4K is still not an ideal resolution for gaming at the very top tier in games that have heavy RT/PT and demanding visuals. Doubt we will see the holy grail for 4K @ 60+ guaranteed in everything without AI and fakery until the 6090.

Is it ALL that matters? I for one don't feel like gaming with the world's limited elite when I can play with a broad spectrum of players, who don't just wear suites. But that's just me. Nobody wants to buy a new PS5 when the orignal one was so hard to get this is nothing but a cash grab. Honestly i think every gamer should just get a PC, best decision i ever made.
The PS5 has been a joke this whole time. No games. Crazy price. They needed to do something that garnished loyalty and helped people still want to play and buy their newest consoles in the first place. Xbox has been grabbing all of the attention, that's for game accessibility and the price point in my eyes. If valve were to come out with a home console and had it at a lower pricetag or even similar pricetag to PS5 WITH steam deck compatibility/streaming/ cloud gaming? It would blow PlayStation out of the water! Valve keeps it real and has such a great rapport with users. Shocked that PlayStation is still kicking at this point... They need to make gamers MORE THAN INTERESTED to get back on their bandwagon. Otherwise they just.... suck compared to every other major gaming console, game selection, price point, etc. Great hardware! But what else Sony?!?!!? I've got hundreds of hours in mine and I haven't had any problem with it. PS plus essentials games are loads better than game you get for free from Xbox as well 36 games a year for free is amazing value.

All electronic devices have failure rates that are going to be unavoidable. You cant make something at scale and make everything in it bulletproof. Its just luck of the draw with any complex product anymore. Never seen laser issues to be common with the PS5 but I have definitely seen how poor Sony support can be.
