My client has had a hard time getting bright enough and finding a stylist that can give her a cool blonde. She found me on Instagram and finally set up an apt. We weren’t sure if we’d be able to accomplish this in one service but luckily she was able to leave happy with her icy blonde hair.

I have a question, when I use Redken shade EQ to do shadow root to blend the , a week later it faded and showed the orangy on the root that I Balayaged.

Faded in a week? How long do you let shadow root staying the root? Ty

hair by Kristi Jennings I don’t want use the permanent color to shadow bc it will be hard for me to lift when she come back for touch up. I knew some stylists use them 5n to shadow it. It looks perfect for not fading or not showing the brassy or demarcation lines .

@hair by Kristi Jennings I used the Ion creme lightener with the Ion sensitive scalp 20 vol developer, but foiled about an inch away from my roots because I want to blend them as a root shadow. I got my hair lifted to a very pale yellow (level 9-10) with only a few brassy areas. I did an olaplex three treatment, a briogio honey mask and added in oils afterwards. It took me six hours and two times processing (I used your trick of using the leftover bleach for the second process so it wasn't as harsh on my hair). I ended up giving my hair a really good trim to make sure I had no damaged ends and it actually feels really good they suggested that I blend t14 and t18 to get my hair to the icy blonde that I want and it should according to them turn the brassy areas into an ash blonde does this sound like a good plan? I haven't done my shadow root or my toner yet because I'm giving my hair a few days to heal before hitting it with the 20 developer again. I'm also considering getting a little closer with my roots after taking a good look at them. My natural hair color at my crown is a level 6 dark ash blonde with "natural" white highlights, and it goes to a level 7 almost light brown at my nape.

@@hairbykristijennings6648 so yes no pigment but very easy to burn both chemically and temperature. For me and most albino I know our roots can easily be opposite of our mid-shafts. I actually learned something very interesting about my own hair this week. I dye my hair alot. Just semi permanent. I've always done blues green purples pinks. Well I went totally opposite and did black to red and orange. My hair soaks up color and doesn't let it go quickly usually. Except for black. I don't know why but the black wouldn't adhere evenly or saturate. So I applied a second time and upon cold water rinsing even more black removed not deposited. So I did a third (don't ask me why I thought it would be any different) so I have different levels of grey patchy all over, a few of black but not deep and then areas that look almost brown. For whatever reason my hair won't accept black. Now I'm trying to figure out how to fix it lol. There's enough dark color I thought about mixing some black into the red to match the areas where rhe red met and melted with the black and bringing it all the way up bc I worry that if I try brown which I'd love to have that my hair wouldn't accept it and it wouldn't look good over the grey and dark areas.
