This is basically my hair journey. I did a lot of research, watched lots of videos (many of them yours!) and just really tried to educate myself. I had been coloring my roots for over a decade so I had permanent color all over my hair (level 5ish!). I knew that if I wanted to keep my hair as healthy as possible (and to bleach through all the color), it could easily take up to 5 or 6 sessions. I also cut a few inches at the bottom each time I went in. I mentally prepared myself for that warm/orangey blonde, and the contrast of the cooler roots with warmer ends once the toner came out. I'm now *almost* at the color I want to be 🤗 It's so worth it! I think when people go back to coloring it dark because they aren't happy after the first session are just prolonging the inevitable.
Olaplex and other bond builders help fill out a lot of the holes that are caused from bleaching your hair. Olive oil can't do that. Olive oil is good to moisturize your hair but it's super important to use a bond builder if you go blonde.
I don’t know if I remember correctly but I believe I’ve heard that olive oil or any natural oil of the sort isn’t the best for your hair because the molecules are too large and just sit on the hair vs penetrating and filling the hair and healing the inside like olaplex or the other bonders can,
That’s also one way, but in my past experience, it still lifts it to a warm color. So instead of having it be warm all over is rather do little bits. Unless going very white grey, then I’d suggest that if it’s not too much color build up
I disagree! I recently bought those foiling combs comes in a 3pk...and even their largest comb I feel is babylight weaves...and not only did it shave some time off my foiling...these hilites blended beautifully! I was shocked! No lines of demarcation...give them a try! I like the smallest comb around the hairline for that Scandinavian hilite/money piece look...
Oh that’s good to know! I’ve seen beautiful work when using those combs…. When doing grey and trying to mimic the natural color pattern I was just thinking those foil combs might not be best because you’re grabbing hair the comb pattern is making vs just grabbing the strands of hair that would blend with their natural. I’m glad to hear you love them so much!
@hairbykristijennings6648 oh yeah..for sure...if youre trying to specifically weave out certain sections of hair..the combs won't work..but if you're going in on a fresh canvas or don't have to worry abt weaving out pieces...Definitely try these! only thing is, if you're wanting even a normal sized weave..the largest comb will probably be too small of a weave..so chunky hilites are out...lol... but yeah..they shaved like 20-25 mins off my full head foil!
That’s why this is called a “color correction” we’re correcting what the client has done to their hair. When color is over lapped time over time through the ends, that makes my job impossible to lift through it. That’s why I say this is a service that takes multiple sessions….. unless you’d prefer the hair be fried
Dark hair always turns orange. And it’s a process lifting dark hair-especially if they have three inches of regrowth. Great reminder though Kristy, underpromise and cover your butt , and make them UNDERSTAND, IT WILL BE A PROCESS🤔🤔😵💫😵💫

I totally agree! We just have to be patient with this transition. Thank you for watching!
I'm going through the exact same transition but it's all coming together I think you've done a wonderful job❤ thank you
Those results are incredible!
Thank you!
I heard that using olive oil and combing it throughout the hair making sure it’s all over is better than olaplex because of the natural amino acids. 😊

Yeah the molecules are to large to penetrate the hair, so in my opinion it does nothing.
@@hairbykristijennings6648 oh ok
What about going a color remover on the existing color first then highlight?

One day, Kristi...I'll have the courage to stop coloring and then my head is going to be a challenge for you!😂
😂 you’re hilarious 😊
Actually no!!!! Your hair is so much lighter now from when it was colored much darker years ago and blends really good with your natural!
No brushes? How come?
I feel like brushes can get to snarly and stretch the hair which can cause damage while using combs requires more gentle and smaller sections
I would be PISSED if I went all through that and that was the end results. This is why I won't try this!
