  • If you’re a Cadillac fan, you know that the ATS sedan has been replaced by the CT4. You may even know that there’s a V-series version of the CT4. What you may not know, is that V doesn’t quite mean what it used to. Confused? Well, whether you’re in the know, or looking for answers, our next test of the CT4 V-Series should help.

      How is it good on Caddy when, according to perpetual liar Mary Barra, GM is going to be all-electric in less than 15 years? Seems counterproductive to spend billions and billions on ICE choices when they are going to become obsolete. Oh well, at least Barra got a lot of press out of her ridiculous claims for the future.

    • @RenlangRen
      @RenlangRen 3 місяці тому +1

      I own and love my ATS-V. The CT4-V is not way close to a CTS-V. The CT-4-V blackwing is the competitor to the older ATS-V. The CTS-V was a fire breathing beast with the supercharged V-8 from a corvette LS1.
      The CT4-V gets much better gas milage than a CTS-V because the CT4-V has 325hp while the CTS-V has 640hp.

    • @NasaRacer
      @NasaRacer 3 місяці тому +1

      @@RenlangRen They are great cars. In my comment from a few years back I was referring to the original CTS-V with 400hp from like 2004 and how the new CT-4V with the turbo 4cyl performs better and gets way better mileage than the old car. But of course it is no match for the current supercharged V8 Blackwing.

    Underwhelming. GM is clueless. They need to stop trying to be BMW and take a page from (I never thought I would say this) Lincoln's playbook. Give us real names, excellent interiors and comfort! Of course, this is the same company that revived the Blazer as a bland Karenmobile that will be passed over for a Rav4 when everyone else is releasing new off-roaders that sell like crazy.

    • @choosumfat
      @choosumfat 3 роки тому +2

      I don't know about Lincoln's playbook. Sure Caddy seems to have a serious case of identity crisis. I might argue whether names or numbers are really better but it is also true that their naming and badging is f'ing everywhere today. As for Lincoln's playbook, the Continental is a total flop. Incredible concept, seriously underwhelming final product, and FWD, I mean WT absolute F? As much I like the Aviator overall, I think I've seen one on the road in the past year. And Lincoln's cars much like those of the parent, are gone gone gone. Not much of a playbook if you ask me. And though I have my qualms about CT4/CT5, it must be pretty hard for GM to do things right in a cross-over obsessed market.

      IKR, these 4 cylinders are becoming too ubiquitous. I own a LT1 powered GM Coupe and had to drive a Malibu this pass weekend. Nice looking car but the performance of that 4 cylinder engine was a dam sin. Couldn’t believe a 2021 model year car was that underpowered. Cadillac is a premium nameplate of the GM Corp, the V6 engine should be the dam standard 😉

    The interior looks terrible(4:08) and doesn't come close to the beauty of the outside. The small screen and the harsh angles make it look like an 5+ year old interior.

    • @syxepop

      I'd think those numbers for this Silverado-based engine (something Johnny didn't tell about) are NOT HIGH ENOUGH for a proper topline Canyon app as they're too close to the Colorado / Canyon regular 3.6L V6. Those numbers need to be CLOSER TO 400hp / 400 lb-ft.

    • @dave3682
      @dave3682 3 роки тому +3

      @@syxepop insane. 400 hp / 400 lb-ft is half-ton v8 territory. If you throw that powerful of an engine into the Canyon it will Cannibalize sales of the more profitable Sierra. You really don't want more than 300hp / 300 lb-ft in a midsize truck.

    • @syxepop
      @syxepop 3 роки тому +2

      @@dave3682 - right now output levels of the NA-3.6L on the Canyon are superior to the base NA-4.3L on the Sierra (both NA-V6's) and that hasn't happened.
      This output level would appear ONLY in a topline Canyon (AT4 or Denali) and would be PRICED NOT TO COMPETE with its' larger brother.
      Figure this also on the Colorado "ZRX", since GMC hasn't made a body that'd be NOT AVAILABLE as a Chevy Truck.

    • @dave3682
      @dave3682 3 роки тому

      @@syxepop you're comparing a top midsize engine to a base half-ton engine. What you're suggesting is putting an engine in a midsize truck that is competitive with a top engine in a half-ton. That's a big difference, and also insane, no matter how you price it.

    • @syxepop
      @syxepop 3 роки тому

      @@dave3682 - what it is today a "so called midsize" pickup was roughly THE SAME SIZE AS A 1990's FULL-SIZE so engine size does not matter much as neither is where you put it (this discussion started because GM put a TRUCK-BASED ENGINE (T-2.7L I4) in a LUXURY COMPACT SEDAN, even as the Caddy version is highly modified for tuning and NVH.
      GM is NOTORIOUS for CROSSING CATEGORIES as well as CROSSING TYPES OF VEHICLE (there was even once a FWD LS engine based on a Silverado truck on). IT SHOULDN'T SURPRISE YOU NOWADAYS.
