I will turn 82 this summer and we live south of Buffalo NY. Today is 16 degrees, high wind warnings and to compliment all of this it is snowing. I want to thank you for giving us Kindred Spirits permission to take time for us and not feel guilty about having unfinished objects or tasks. As I walk through our reproduction saltbox today, yes I see tasks that need to be finished. But more importantly I see the love we have for our home, the lived in spaces and the familiar treasures that represent a home. And my heart says thank you Linda.
Linda...I love that you just walk through your beautiful house and show us you are actually "living" in it. Seeing the vaccum and Willow chomping on her food made me smile. You always give me so many great ideas and hope when you say that you messed up on a color or the way you arranged a room etc. I always say to myself that I am amazed when my accidental decorating actually works out better than the intentional!!
Love your ending words. I too! Am doing and getting things done on a slower pace. I like doing things this way, cause I am always more happier and I know it was done to my liking to stay that way. I am 77 years young and I am trying hard to maintain the look I want to look at for the remaining years to come. Linda, I can in all honesty say you bring so much to your kindred spirits. I like when you show a real life in the day of. ❤
Truly loved this tour. As a newly retired 66 year old university professor, I am struggling with a slower pace, identity shift and finding joy in everything I need to do vs. want to do!! My 2nd Masters thesis centered around creativity; how is fully utilizes our brain and soul. The critical find in my research….creativity requires time. Now I am giving myself the gift of time, after raising 4 daughters, married 43.5 years….I have time and LOVE the creativity unfolding. You do that so well. Love the process you share❤️Creativity fills the cracks that life has…with joy!
I hope you know Linda how precious you are to all of your kindred spirits! You are always thinking , always creating and all the crafts etc you share with us! I love the little vignette you did with the cloche in your dining room. I think that wallpaper would look lovely in your bedroom. It is such a beautiful room with lots of nice windows . Everything you put your hands too looks beautiful. Blessings lovely lady
Living in England I usually get your videos Sunday late pm, so I make myself a cup of tea, settle down & I always always enjoy looking around your gorgeous house & seeing all the things you are planning to do! You have certainly inspired me Linda, it’s a joy to watch! Thank you.. loved Willow chomping on her biscuits, sweet girl..☺️
Love the “Doom” basket! I cleaned out our notorious kitchen drawer 2 days ago and couldn’t believe what I threw away. Actually, I believe I can throw away a few more things. I am breaking down my declutter process into small individual projects - one drawer, bottom of the closet, etc. These are things that can be handled into daily short time increments rather than spending days on one project. I have already accomplished quite a bit since taking down the Christmas decorations.
This was the tour I needed. I feel very much like you do about my mind-set regarding the coming year and my approach to getting different projects completed. Your style and taste is very similar to my own, so I just swoon over the choices you have made in decorating your home. It is just an added bonus that you are at the same stage of life as I am, and that you seem to have a personality that I very much enjoy as well. So glad I found you here on UA-cam! Happy decorating!
It's good to hear that your New Year resolution is to make things easier on yourself. Your whole house Christmas decorating, cooking entertaining made for what looked like a magical holiday but nobody can work full throttle like that indefinitely. Considering your long list of plans for future projects we'll see if you allow yourself to keep that resolution . You're one ambitious little lady - never an idle minute. That's why all your episodes are so fun and interesting.
❤ this week's vlog. Positive qualities that I like about you: 1. How hard you work to accomplish your goals 2. How so many of your home decorations are from consignment shops. 3. How creative you are ... a never ending process. 4. How you're always thinking about future projects.
Thank you for the tour of your beautiful home and introducing your projects you're planning for the future! I agree with you on the LED lights, I absolutely hate the light they cast. Everything you've done looks just great! I'm hoping to finally be able to purchase two of the pheasant mugs this time around! I'm looking forward to seeing the fox mug as well! Thank you, Linda!
Sometimes something happens right when you need it most. This video was one of those moments for me. I have several projects that are partially done and many many things on my plate right now. I stay rock steady but some days I feel like I got nothing done because there is still so much to do. Linda is truly a kindred spirit as I was able to see ( and often do) that she and I are “ flying on the same plane” . We have a destination, and we will get there. A few diversions, a few detours but we will arrive eventually. Then because our brains are wired that way, we will plan the next adventure. Thank you Linda for grounding me when I needed it most.
Dear Linda I am must truely a Kindred spirit even although live half way around the world your style and your way of celebrating even the smallest of nature's gifts like your little acorn tops on a seed pod resonates with me. I'm a Scottish lady who came with my parents to Australia over 50 years ago I was 15 years old when I left Scotland and grew up on a century old farm with magnificent nature all around it's very different here in Australia but it has its own beauty, I love your opening statement on your videos about fine living no matter how small and I try to live my days in this manner, we here in Australia for not have the beautiful old houses like you do there but my decorating style and ethic is similar even although my home is mid century I love your videos they give me inspiration and motivation and I just wanted to tell you that you bring such joy to an old girl like me who although is not living in a delightful old home with history and character can still relate to and remember my early days in one, so looking forward to many more of your videos of your home and garden and of course your sweet Willow, stay well and healthy dear Kindred Spirit.
Linda you looked amazing in that outfit at the end of the video by the fireplace. Gosh I even love your style of clothing as much as your home decor! Elegant yet casual! Just so pretty!
It's always pleasant to enjoy your lovely home with you. I'm 77 now and can't "do it all" like I used to as you do now. What I find with you that I wasn't fortunate to have is that you have the resources to obtain whatever you need. I know you do appreciate that. And the kind husband who is so supportive. Thank you for sharing all with us and I hope you keep it up.
Retrieving that fuse…ladies, THAT’S why we had the “Operation” game back in the day! LOL Another wonderful tour with tantalizing hints of what is to come. THANK YOU!
I enjoyed this video very much. I feel like I understand the layout of your home much better now! I love having furniture and decor I can move from room to room in my home!
Linda, this video was so fun to watch. I always get so excited when I see that you have a video out. Your home looks fabulous as is. Yes, take it slow, one project at a time. You are so talented! You are the highlight of my day.
Linda, I so enjoy ALL of your videos. Your home is such a beautiful haven and what a very talented decorator you are !! New wreath , love it . Thank you so much for keeping it real as others have stated ( vacuum sweeper etc. ) so relatable !! Looking to all future videos this year ! Have a great day !!
Love your home. My favorite room is the library. I would love to see more of that room. The second favorite is the dining room. Also love the kitchen remodel. 😊
I am with you over LED bulbs. We dislike them, too. My husband bought a bunch of regular bulbs and I am so happy he did. Loved the video, Linda. Have a great week.
I love house tours. Your kitchen is the best. I love the wallpaper in the foyer!! The only thing I would do is keep the guest bed and I'd wallpaper the shelf supports in the butler's pantry to match the walls.
I forgot to mention I have to finish the shelf supports. A few are painted to look like the wallpaper. Since the shelves come out, the wallpaper would be too fragile on the edges. Good eye though!!!!
Linda, if you poke some holes in that spaghetti squash, then microwave it for 6 minutes, it will cut so much easier. Also, if you slice it, instead of halving it, you'll get a much better product afterward. It bakes faster, it's not so watery, and the strands are longer. We found that it actually has better flavor. 🙂
I like your guest bedroom. I don't remember ever seeing it. I think it would look better with the bed coming out of the corner between the windows. I love all your videos and am amazed at your energy.
You are really amazing, work so hard, glad to hear you are going to slow down! I LOVE the green bowl holding the plant on your dining room table as well as your entire house!!
Linda...just remember, leather can be very cold to sit on. We bought one for our den and I have to put a blanket on it before I sit down. Looks great but you just do not have that feeling of AHHHH when you sit down. It is more of an OH! Love everything you do!
I love your idea of a recessed light above the sink and a chandelier above the island. That would look so beautiful! I don’t know about you, but after all the Christmas items are removed and safely put away, I always feel a sense of relief and joy. The extra spaciousness always feels relaxing and invigorating 🤔 and lends a beauty all in its own. Thanks again for another wonderful moment shared with kindred spirits. Your home is beautiful and inspiring! ❤
Linda, you are my muse! I absolutely love the black n white print over your bed yet it seemed to look better with your white bedding. You mentioned putting the mirror over the bed...nice idea! I cannot wait to see all the changes in 2024!!!!
Linda, I’m relaxing on my couch today with my pot of tea…what a delight to spend part of this cold afternoon with you, Willow and Sugarwood. Really enjoyed this video ...❤❤👏
Slowing down is one of my goals for this year too. I’m always rushing around for no reason. I don’t know why I think I need to hurry and get a million things done each day, but I think I’ve realized it’s a lie, and I’m not playing that game anymore, lol!
I love the floral picture over your bed. It really warms up the bedroom and makes it so inviting. Everything you do in your home looks so nice. I do miss the rocking chair by the fireplace in your kitchen. It always reminded me of my grandmother who used to love to rock by the fireplace.😊
Linda, I enjoy Sunday’s knowing that there will be a video out from you !!! This video was interesting knowing the difference projects that you want to complete. Glad your Bourbon and Bubbly turned out great. Until nexts Sunday your friend in Athens Georgia 🥃
Linda gives me inspiration to hoover my flat. I hoover just once. I had a cleaner once a week few years ago. Linda Hoovers such a big house alone. Keeps it spotless. I think her day starts cleaning the house. And little cooking. It must be getting cold due to bare floors. ? Not sure ? I have carpets.
I know, I know, but this is truly the home of my dreams. You have, even with little things to be done, the most amazing home. There are plenty of homes on UA-cam and they are wonderful, but each and every time you post, my heart says, wish I lived there. Your design style really resonates with me-you have such a gift. Will love seeing your finishing touches this year. And I really need one of those pheasant tankards!!
Hi Linda on this cool cold gray day. I just found a Q&A from 3 yrs ago with you and carving a pumpkin. What fun to learn more about you and your gift. My 2 cents. I love how you explain and take us through your thought process when you are: gardening, looking for things, decorating, cooking etc. That is such a BIG help.
All the rooms that you have painted, especially the walls going lighter, look so much better, brighter and welcoming. You keep going girl! You are doing an excellent job!!
Hi Linda, love to watch your videos, been watching you for over three years . I remember when you brought your house and did those two windows in your kitchen. It bring so much light into your house everything that you do it’s going to look even gorgeous . Have a blessed weekend and God bless.
The pulled pork (and everything else) was delicious! As always, the house looked beautiful and so cozy especially with all of the fireplaces going. Thank you for a beautiful evening my friend!!💞💞
Linda, you definitely have been blessed! Everything is cozy and picturesque! I’ve always been drawn to the same art/crafts/colors/decor’. Your closeups reminds me of the old Ideal Magazine. Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Have a peaceful week! ❤ ❄️ and congratulations again on Sugarwood 1790! 🥃 🍾 🎊 ❤ 🪴 ❄️
Blessing to all your new adventures… this year- sending prays that your tasting is a hit. So true about the spaghetti squash, Linda, I thought it was just me! 🎉🥂🥃🥃 🎉
Love the “doom” basket. I can relate to that. There is always that something to find a place for! Your home certainly looks lovely even though you have things to do. Every room is an adventure and I really enjoyed the tour. Well I have to get back to packing up Christmas, that always seems like a “doom” project. Think I will pack it up by room this year. Maybe it will be easier to unpack next Christmas! Good luck with all your projects, you always do so well.
I love that you have such beautiful things and keep them on display to be enjoyed. I struggle with the minimal culture. I love what I inherited from my grandmother and mother and what I have picked up. I think it makes the home more cozy and interesting when these are on display. Thank you for sharing.
You have beautiful rooms to decorate, i hope you opt for wallpaper in some of your rooms. I think it makes a home very cozy. Very nice style can't wait to see whats next, thank you for sharing ❤❤
Well, after hearing and seeing your "to do" list, I feel so much better about mine! However, I have nearly 20 years on you, so giving myself grace is something I definately need to remember! But, you're right! You need to do the same. Let's remember to pace ourselves!
I enjoyed this calm and relaxing video. I think probably because you had the house to yourself you seemed so relaxed. I'm watching a day late because of power outages here in Michigan. Loved seeing Willow too. Stay warm and have a good week Linda.
A lovely home all around! The little miscellaneous jobs that didn’t quite get finished can get pushed to the end of the list so easily, but it feels so wonderful when they’re done. Your outfit for the get together was really cute, you looked great!
Thank you for another relaxing video . I agree with not rushing home projects . I still have to paint out the bottom half of our bedroom since I started redecorating it a year ago . I just finished deep cleaning our family room after the holidays and it took me 3 days ! But I am finding it is better to do it that way so I am not so stressed out and tired and have more fun playing around with the decor.☺
Thank you, Linda, for another beautiful & inspiring video! I so appreciate how you are not afraid to entertain before completing your list of projects. This year I am being very deliberate about exercising my hospitality muscle. What good is creating a lovely home without sharing it with others? Have a wonderful week! ❤
Thank you for noticing that. I used to put off entertaining OR I would stay up until all hours to finish a project before I would have a gathering. My new plan moving here was just go for it and enjoy being with friends.
I was hoping you were going to take us on a antique hunt for a champagne bucket 😊 Thankyou for the Rosemary tip...I too killed off my plant from my herb garden when I brought it in,& replaced it,& planted it in my orchid pot, thus watering from bottom,& its doing great! Here in southern Alberta, Canada , we have been sitting at balmy temperatures for a week ranging from -27'---42',&with windchill down to -55 brrr it's cold 🥶
Linda, your home and video's are wonderful. I will be starting a kitchen/main floor reno and I plan on borrowing many of your iedeas.🤫😄 like you, I actually love to paint and paper myself. I just restained my 3 decks this past summer. I had fun but, now that I'm in my 50's I can say it took a little longer than I expected. So, I've decided that from now on I will give myself permission to hire out for some things that I know I can do but might be a little more arduous than years past(painting a 2 story family room as example). I'll always keep my hands in something...that's the old New Englander in me. All this to say perhaps, you could consider giving yourself permission to hand over some projects to free you up to do the things only you can do. Happy 2024🎉
The house has come a long way since you moved in and it is beautiful, peaceful and a wonderful home for entertaining. Love your attitude of giving yourself grace when things do not get done at the speed of lightening..after all, part of the fun is the process and part enjoying the finished project. I wish you many happy and fruitful projects in your home and life.
Linda … you are such an inspiration. However I am enjoying watching your videos more than actually doing my chores that need to get done. Thank you so much. ❤
I think your butler's pantry is my favorite room! I love the wallpaper ❤️ I agree with you regarding LED bulbs. Most are not warm enough for me. My husband and I still use the old C7 and C9 Christmas bulbs for that reason. I read about a blogger who bought a beautiful pre lit LED Christmas tree but hated the bulbs. She spent 13 hours cutting them out so she could add her own strands of warmer lights! 🤣
Thank you so much!
@@newenglandfineliving Thank you!!!
Thank you so much!

When you don't even have to be 3 seconds into a video before you hit the like button because Linda rolls like that.
Yay! LOL Thank you!
I do that right away because I know I’m going to love the video!
@@pistachio57 ...I'm relatively new, so I've been binge watching. And I love every single video as well.
I totally agree.👏🏻🏡🤗
Yes, agree!!
I don't know how you accomplish everything you do. Love your style !

Linda, I love the tour of your home! You give me a lot of inspiration and ideas for my own home. Thanks for making Sunday mornings so much fun! 😊

Glad to knoe I'm not the only one who leaves dishes overnight. Not always, of course.
I loved your dining room, and I absolutely loved your table and chairs. Just beautiful.

Your house doesn’t look or feel empty, for me it is perfect, I personally don’t like clutter ❤
Your home is beautiful and I get so many ideas from you. Loved this tour and the view from your kitchen windows is breathtaking.
Your home is GORGEOUS, even with unfinished projects! Thank you for sharing.
❤ this week's vlog. Positive qualities that I like about you:
1. How hard you work to accomplish your goals
2. How so many of your home decorations are from consignment shops.
3. How creative you are ... a never ending process.

Gorgeous, cozy and beautiful natural light
Linda, I’m relaxing on my couch today with my pot of tea…what a delight to spend part of this cold afternoon with you, Willow and Sugarwood. Really enjoyed this video ...❤❤👏
Lovely home and tour. ❤ Willow enjoying her dinner. ❤
Love your dog. Really like your lovely home it’s so spacious. I really wish my home had more space and bigger rooms.
This was a great video to really get the feel of your home. Love every room-especially the hunt wallpaper.

Great improvement with new room layout! 🎉
Looking forward to your future changes and consignment shopping. Yes, moving slower! Me too. Love your honesty and sense of humor. Be well!
Absolutely love your gorgeous home! 💕
Linda, I absolutely love your home and decor! ❤
Linda, this was so enjoyable. Your home is beautiful, so cozy. You are an inspiration! ❤
I love that you have such beautiful things and keep them on display to be enjoyed. I struggle with the minimal culture. I love what I inherited from my grandmother and mother and what I have picked up. I think it makes the home more cozy and interesting when these are on display. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much!
I have the same desk as in your guest room. I am sitting at it now watching you
Love the different ideas under the cloches! Looking forward to seeing the miniature pictures that you have coming in. Videos are always so enjoyable.
A lovely home all around!
The little miscellaneous jobs that didn’t quite get finished can get pushed to the end of the list so easily, but it feels so wonderful when they’re done.
Your outfit for the get together was really cute, you looked great!
I love your existing island!!! So glad I found your channel!!!
I like it there too, but it is a piece of furniture from another room that I miss having in that space. Now I have a vacant space elsewhere.
Sounds perfect! Slow and steady.
You're amazing! I couldn't hang wallpaper with two arms much less one.
Perhaps a fandelier in your pantry? I just recently found out there was such a thing, when a youtuber who lives in the south was out shopping for one.
I was hoping you were going to take us on a antique hunt for a champagne bucket 😊
Thankyou for the Rosemary tip...I too killed off my plant from my herb garden when I brought it in,& replaced it,& planted it in my orchid pot, thus watering from bottom,& its doing great!
Here in southern Alberta, Canada , we have been sitting at balmy temperatures for a week ranging from -27'---42',&with windchill down to -55 brrr it's cold 🥶
Thanks for the visit today. Your tour was very inspiring to get me in gear for 2024
Linda, your home and video's are wonderful.
Your home looks wonderful. I love every inch of it. ❤
I always look forward to seeing what you have going on! I’m amazed the amount of energy you have!! Up so early!! Love your home!! 💝
Linda … you are such an inspiration. However I am enjoying watching your videos more than actually doing my chores that need to get done. Thank you so much. ❤
It looks beautiful. Thank you. Keep up the good work !!
Absolutely LOVE your home (and Willow.)❤️
I think your butler's pantry is my favorite room! I love the wallpaper ❤️ I agree with you regarding LED bulbs. Most are not warm enough for me. My husband and I still use the old C7 and C9 Christmas bulbs for that reason. I read about a blogger who bought a beautiful pre lit LED Christmas tree but hated the bulbs. She spent 13 hours cutting them out so she could add her own strands of warmer lights! 🤣
Thank you Linda for your lovely tour.
my fave room is the butlers pantry ! love the color on the cabinets and love the matching wallpaper ...just beautiful... in there i feel so comfy ...
Your home is lovely. Thanks for sharing!
As always, I loved the tour. Looking forward to seeing you next Sunday and all the love and care you put into everything.
Personaly i love the semi gloss black in your bathroom. But i realize its your decision. Looks chic
