It's definitely my most favorite home that's ever been shown on Homeworthy. Thank you for sharing it with us and it was such a delight to hear all your stories.
I was inspired by so much of what you've done but especially by the red sofa with the many colored cushions and by the red chairs, one of which is falling apart. I have such a chair that I suspect is covered in Fortuny fabric. The fabric is literally unraveling before my eyes, revealing the cotton beneath, but it sits proudly nevertheless in my lady's chamber. Your style is honest and reassuring. Thank you for sharing your home.
The only episode that I watched completely without fast forwarding through the boring self congratulatory vocal fry monologues. So informative and interesting and just as rich as the colour and texture of this exquisite and truly personal home

I love how European decorating their home, it so natural and really show it is really lived in. There is so many imperfections but perfect. Nothing seems precious & over the top (like most Texas homes are) but still very beautiful and I LOVE it.
That's exactly the motto i use for my house when people enter for the first time. I tell them that my home is perfectly imperfect...just like me. Buonasera Fiona.@FionadeLys_colourconsultant
I feel we can really see the difference between a european home visit and a US one. We can mix old and new but it feels like our homes are really beeing used.
I agree. I've lived so long in Europe I often cringe seeing American interiors no matter what end they are. My mother's Swedish so there's that too. I adore Italy and have spent so much time there, it's interesting to see how to bring a bit of it into northern European interiors which are so different with a whole different climate and way of life. The Brits are always interesting in their love of filling cottages with loads of objects, furniture, fabric, prints etc. It's the English way. Alot of the time in the more high end or designer owned properties, I have to assume they have professional cleaners who can be trusted with navigating vaccum cleaners (hoovers) and dusters in tight spaces with lots of sensitive andtiques. Bc it seems to me incredibly labour intense to keep the dusta at bay with a zillion surfaces to collect on. I do think they're great, likely the very best, at designing spaces that are and look very comfortable, mixing antique with new, precious with thrifty and reflect the interests of the owners. It's extremely rare that I see American homed and think, yes, I'd feel comfy and surrounded by things to spark my interest if I stayed there. They feel construed, unnatural to me, anxiously concerned with middle class values, (apoearences before content) and often just ugly. The exceptions are homes of artists and intellectuals I've seen, who aren't too concerned with "decor" and people who've built their own cabins from scratch, which can be fantastic.

The magic here is that this homeowner knows what she loves and understands the interplay between individualism and good design. This has been my favorite episode so far, and do believe the reason is because the homeowner is not imitating something she has seen in a magazine or filling her home with things that others have told her are stylish, she has forged a very personal, yet carefully curated home. okay. . .so now I've watched this video twice. . .and I have narrowed it down to this: As an American, I love the old-world refinement, that Fiona represents. Not just in her home. But in her entire being, from her diet to her lifestyle of taking a bath before bed. It is so rare to find a perfectly refined and gracious host. xoxo Fiona! Bravo!!
Her collection of pots is marvelous. I love that she did not feel the need to recover or re-stuff her beautiful sofa. The English are much less fussy and burdened with the need to impress, unlike we Americans. A fabulous and warm home.
This is one of my favorite homes tours by far. The collected feel in this house is just right. Her story is what this house is about, therefore, a place worth to live in. I learned several ideas from this tour and on top of that, this tour is a reminder to me that an authentic home is much more interesting than a house full luxury and without a true story. More like this, please!!!
Dear Fiona, I was mesmerized by your gorgeous presentation style, your incredibly beautifully decorated home, the stories of the special furniture pieces from your Italian grandfather & your world travel, business experiences, etc!! It was a total delight to tour your home & see how you have transformed it into a very relaxing, meaningful, & comfortable home that truly reflects your lovely life experiences & memorable moments!! I also loved learning how you acquired so many of your unique pieces!! I’m so glad you were profiled!! I will definitely watch your episode several times over again, because there’s so much to see, the colors, textures, layering, wall hangings, etc! Your home is a rare jewel, as are you!! Thank you for such a lovely time with you🤗🤗👏👏🤗!!
As a lady who also is drawn to the color green, I very much enjoyed seeing how you used it throughout your fabulously decorated home. The green velvet drapes are delicious, yet understated. What glorious and unusual spaces you have created! Nothing " trendy" or cookie- cutter about it! Love your home! You are a joy to listen to and had several teaching moments woven in to the tour! I enjoyed your video so much. ❤
What a refreshing change to see an English cottage which is authentic and hasn't had the heart ripped out of it. It's also a home where the owner has thought only about her taste and isn't playing to an audience or considering what others think. In other words a real home ❤
Through my job as a carpenter I have seen many houses and villas, but this home is the most beautiful, magical and impressive that I have ever seen. It is a home with soul, full of love, craftsmanship, passion and atmosphere. In all my years, I haven't seen anything more beautiful. There is something to discover in every corner and niche. you can feel the warmth and warmth of the resident. She is absolutely inspiring, personable and unique. She has created a masterpiece of colors, shapes, structures, a lively mix of materials and a wonderfully soulful place full of magic.
Oh, wow ! After less than 5 minutes, I knew this was one episode I will save to watch again! Fiona is lovely and beautifully articulate. She also has a strength and certainty about herself that is so refreshing. Wonderful to see a woman who has no interest in trends but creates her own narrative in her home! I wish I could bring her into my home as well! Thank you Fiona. You are an inspiration!
The lines and color and texture of the cane sofa is wonderful. And her antique pots are such a unique collection. Especially how she describes them as relating to humans. Her grandfathers sideboard is such an incredible heirloom. The amazing old desk with the emerald green lamps... oh my... be still my heart! I was so happy when you explained the huge credenza in the kitchen. My mind was wondering how in the heck did she get that massive piece in that tiny kitchen! Then we went upstairs! How that incredible credenza got up that narrow staircase! Impressive. Where there's a will... there's a way! And the bathroom is an experience all its own. Swimming though seaweed. Sounds like she had an amazing childhood!

Fiona has exquisite taste imo! What a stunning transformation. The antique Indian writing desk and the black silk chinoiserie panels are incredible. A lot of really beautiful treasures that are a feast for the eyes. So much brilliant advice during this home tour as well.
Fiona put into words so many things that I have always felt but had never articulate. Mainly, how do you want to feel when you are in a room. So succinctly stated but something that I have always enjoyed. I would like being in all of the rooms in Fiona's home. She is indeed a color expert.
In my top three favourite homes. Fiona is in the perfect career for her. What a joy to see her home. Anyone else wishing they have an Italian Grandfather?. How could her home not be amazing, it's in her genes.
What a beautiful home. Looks so cozy and comfortable. Love all the art and the collection of pottery. Your grandfather had incredible furniture. You are so lucky to have it. Thank you so much for sharing.
This was undeniably my favourite Homeworthy tour with an articulated presentation from the owner/hostess. There was nothing pretentious about Fiona. Her validation and assessment of quality, interest, history and function solidified her attachment to the Georgian home that she not only transformed but imbued with soul and character. I can only wish that I had such an inspiring neighbour one day. Cheers! Darryl
So enjoyed benefitting from your experience and knowledge. Does anyone know what period/style the living room sofa is? I think it may solve a particular problem we have been having!
Her home speaks of comfort:) and authenticity. A chair for the visiting dogs, candle holders with wax drippings, her desire for color and light, and curated vignettes in every room to remind her of places she visited, lived in or cherished, like the antiques from her grandfather. Love her kitchen - charming and functional, a great mix of styles. I really appreciated her acknowledgment that life changes are often the catalyst for changes in lifestyle/home choices and color choices. Our homes either reflect who we are or hide who we are. Nothing is more sad than an overstuffed pretentious home, no matter the style or expense involved. An intriguing life/travels and interesting careers led her to deep dive into what a home means for her and how to turn it into her personal healing, happy sanctuary - like a soft hug or welcoming embrace. Definitely one of my absolute favorite home tours - thanks!
What a gorgeous house filled with fabulous treasures & personality- so rich, so much to enchant the eye! yet still cozy, charming & warm, as you said not too precious. I particularly liked the cane sofa. Fiona de Lys has impeccable style & taste- and a mellifluous voice to match! Thank you for sharing!
What a fabulous mix of colours an absolute delight to watch this episode. Loved Fiona’s colour presentation and her narrative to each aesthetics, pattern, natural elements & form in her arrangements. Normally it would come off as loud and busy with the riot of colours, however her brilliant juxtapositions with her decor & design makes it pleasing to our senses!
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this beautiful, authentic home. Her descriptions of the choices she made and the beloved objects and furniture were an absolute joy.
Simply lovely home. The spirit of the owner & her love of color & family heirlooms shine. Thoroughly enjoyed all the keepsakes & candles & treasures & stories!
This was a feast for the eyes and the soul. It feels like a warm renaissance painting. And not to forget the gorgeous dress pants Fiona was wearing fit perfectly in the setting. Really well done home.
My favourite episode of Homeworthy so far. Love the style and colours. I even love the purple colour in the bedroom and I normally don't like purple walls. I realized it's just the matter of the right shade. Absolutely charming house.
I love the way what your are wearing today expresses your love for combining greens and reds. This is absolutely delightful! I created a non-kitchen in the Boston area, removing the upper cabinets, combining green on the walls with red accents and photos of my beloved Ireland. Thank you, Fiona.

I wanted to transport myself to your gorgeous, homely and colourful cottage. thank you so much for sharing it with us. This has been the best home shown on homeworthy. A home with a soul xx
I love the items Ms. Fys shows, I can see that she has experience in scenic and colors/light antique designs. With all of her antiques in her home , creates a sense of comfort and harmony and how the values her Italian family objects and her mother’s teaching of Taos arts/language.. she makes me expresses my mother’s favorite objects {( the Tinaja( water pitcher)} in Dominican Republic.
I could've listened to this video as a podcast, Fiona's voice and narrative about her home and the things in it were so fascinating and soothing. But i love the visuals too 😊
I loved this one! Old creaky houses are my favs, anyway , but her decor and advice is spot on. I love how she gets the natural light aspect of not only your garden but your home. So unique to her and her history. Such interesting stories she has about all her findings and things she's inherited. 🎉🥁🏆👑🥇😍💯👀👏💐
Could listen to her all day and her sensibility wrt to colour is great. I love unique and quirky homes and she delivered. The funny thing is that I would not choose some of the things she did but I still understand what she is conveying. 🗝️
What an intelligent, considered & insightful approach to interior design. I loved listening to Fiona .. she has a beautiful voice & great style. Her pieces are all so interesting & the idea of carefully selecting things that speak to you adds so much to how you feel when you’re at home. One of your most enjoyable episodes.
She has made the design philosophy into poetry. "Hops on her ceiling beam...deliriously delicious." "Montra to color...read the light of the room." "Candle wax...not too precious about it." "Find your aesthetic narrative, the soul of your home." So very interesting and captivating. Love it!!!

Thank you for sharing your Spirit of creating a specific ambiance that truly evokes cottage living. Oh, how I wish I had your talent of collecting and capturing warm elegance.....I imagine your friends never want to leave your dream place.....while drinking a glass of wine and listening to the crackling fire perfumed in lavender....ahh.... Someday...... excellent presentation. Thank you for sharing.....
What an enticing colour combination of green, red and apricot. Gorgeous art, collections and family treasures. What an exciting, dramatic project this home would be to demonstrate the power of LRV. Giving it a fresh, more curated take on maximalism, by simplifying the envelope. Using Fiona’s favourite colours, but with a higher LRV version of them - on both walls and woodwork, so rooms feel more peaceful and uplifting vs broken up. And the addition of more negative space, so that each piece can be appreciated. What a fascinating, passionate delight Fiona is.
I absolutely love this cottage and how it is decorated. My home is decorated in a very similar style, I have crystals displayed and a really old Chesterfield adorned with different cushions and throws!

That's so kind. thank you x
Fiona put into words so many things that I have always felt but had never articulate. Mainly, how do you want to feel when you are in a room. So succinctly stated but something that I have always enjoyed. I would like being in all of the rooms in Fiona's home. She is indeed a color expert.
Wow, that is lovely to hear. I speak from the heart about a subject I am immensly passionate about. I'm so pleased you connect.
In my top three favourite homes. Fiona is in the perfect career for her. What a joy to see her home. Anyone else wishing they have an Italian Grandfather?. How could her home not be amazing, it's in her genes.
I have Italian grandparents on both sides. So I consider myself Italian,i just happened to be born in uk.😂
I absolutely love Fiona’s home! Its incredibly interesting, homely & simply charming, just like her… ❤❤❤
What a beautiful home. Looks so cozy and comfortable. Love all the art and the collection of pottery. Your grandfather had incredible furniture. You are so lucky to have it. Thank you so much for sharing.
thank you for sharing your appreciation of my home :)
This was undeniably my favourite Homeworthy tour with an articulated presentation from the owner/hostess. There was nothing pretentious about Fiona. Her validation and
assessment of quality, interest, history and function solidified her attachment to the Georgian home that she not only transformed but imbued with soul and character. I can
only wish that I had such an inspiring neighbour one day. Cheers!
Darryl
Thank you Darryl for a very flattering comment. I am encouraged by all the wonderful comments.
A master class in colour theory. I love all of the nature elements. Creating the narrative. Follow the light. And now I want to travel to Portofino😀
Portofino is full of colour inspiration! I hope to share more on colour and narratives soon x
Love this lady and her style! I find the homes that I'm most drawn to are collected over time and have a sense of personal history as does this one.
I'm blushing! Yes, the cane sofa was such a great find.
What a fabulous mix of colours an absolute delight to watch this episode. Loved Fiona’s colour presentation and her narrative to each aesthetics, pattern, natural elements & form in her arrangements. Normally it would come off as loud and busy with the riot of colours, however her brilliant juxtapositions with her decor & design makes it pleasing to our senses!
truely kind words - thank you
Interesting and visually stimulating decoration, by an obviously creative and articulated owner....thanks for sharing your property and thoughts.
This is exactly the kind of charm, warmth and individuality that inspires me in a home. Thanks for this one and kudos to Fiona!
So pleased you are inspired 🤗
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this beautiful, authentic home. Her descriptions of the choices she made and the beloved objects and furniture were an absolute joy.
Simply lovely home. The spirit of the owner & her love of color & family heirlooms shine. Thoroughly enjoyed all the keepsakes & candles & treasures & stories!
Gorgeous! My favorite so far on this channel!
Gosh! Thank you so much!! What an honour to hear :)
This was a feast for the eyes and the soul. It feels like a warm renaissance painting. And not to forget the gorgeous dress pants Fiona was wearing fit perfectly in the setting. Really well done home.
She's wearing a jumpsuit. I can't remember the designers name .
My favourite episode of Homeworthy so far. Love the style and colours. I even love the purple colour in the bedroom and I normally don't like purple walls. I realized it's just the matter of the right shade. Absolutely charming house.
It's all about context - I hope you have been inspired to experiment with colour more!
I love the way what your are wearing today expresses your love for combining greens and reds. This is absolutely delightful! I created a non-kitchen in the Boston area, removing the upper cabinets, combining green on the walls with red accents and photos of my beloved Ireland. Thank you, Fiona.
That sounds brilliant! You have created your aesthetic narrative of what makes your heart sing.
Fiona, I was absolutely mesmerized by your beautiful home and your stories about the treasures you have collected. I wanted to transport myself to your gorgeous, homely and colourful cottage. thank you so much for sharing it with us. This has been the best home shown on homeworthy. A home with a soul xx
What a kind message, Janis. Thank you for reaching out with such heart-felt words! I love that in opening my door, so many have opened theirs to me.
How delightful! A colorful cottage in London sounds like a dream come true. 🏡🎨
I love the items Ms. Fys shows, I can see that she has experience in scenic and colors/light antique designs. With all of her antiques in her home , creates a sense of comfort and harmony and how the values her Italian family objects and her mother’s teaching of Taos arts/language.. she makes me expresses my mother’s favorite objects {( the Tinaja( water pitcher)} in Dominican Republic.
that's wonderful!
I’ve been a lifelong minimalist and even more so in my retirement but I very much enjoyed and appreciate her choices. A feast for the senses. Lovely.
This house and woman are one, they blend into one another, a true piece of artfulness. Thank you for sharing.
I've watched a million interiors vids, this outstanding woman and her beautiful home win the internet.
WOW!!! Now that is so wonderful to hear and I hope I can bring so much more on colour and interiors to your screen 🥰
@@FionadeLys_colourconsultant Hi Fiona Yes please, we need more of your passion and knowledge!
This cottage is everything. Completely agree with the muted mixture of red and green, I enjoy that in my own home. Fiona's style is wonderful.
Your home sounds colourful and beautiful!
Lovely, cozy and thought envoking home. So many collections and treasures. Blessings.
I love the richness of colours and unique and personal style - what an inspiration!
I love these houses. They have patina and charm!
I could've listened to this video as a podcast, Fiona's voice and narrative about her home and the things in it were so fascinating and soothing. But i love the visuals too 😊
I would love to produce a podcast and it's something I hope I can later this year x
Oh my, what's not to LOVE!! I am now thinking about giving my home a new look.
Go for it! And explore your narrative in that process x
I loved this one! Old creaky houses are my favs, anyway , but her decor and advice is spot on. I love how she gets the natural light aspect of not only your garden but your home. So unique to her and her history. Such interesting stories she has about all her findings and things she's inherited. 🎉🥁🏆👑🥇😍💯👀👏💐
Stories are so important to our narrative with our homes x
Could listen to her all day and her sensibility wrt to colour is great. I love unique and quirky homes and she delivered. The funny thing is that I would not choose some of the things she did but I still understand what she is conveying. 🗝️
I like her jumpsuit!!!
I love her house and her tip regarding light in the room . Thank her for allowing us in her lovely home.
Love it!!!
You've captured some of the most important points and made a most beautiful summary. Thank you 🙏
Her voice is so calming and relaxing. And her house is just gorgeous.
This is not only a beautiful home, it's my dream sanctuary! Congratulations Fiona. What an oasis of color, light and texture.
My very favorite Homeworthy Tour! Thank you!
Love, love, love your beautiful home, Fiona! You are a wonderful presenter as well.
How lovely to know you think so and thank you for sharing that! I hope to present other beautiful interiors later this year 🤩
I absolutely love this cottage and how it is decorated. My home is decorated in a very similar style, I have crystals displayed and a really old Chesterfield adorned with different cushions and throws!
Funny enough I’ve been redecorating my family room and a lot of reds and greens have come in to the space. My son said, “ I guess it’s Christmas all year.”😅
Gorgeous!
This beautiful woman has great style, a commanding presence and a lovely home. I also love her hairstyle!
The play of light in a room.... so important! ❤
