Interesting fact all of the kids that are in this film that fight in the torment are actually legit fighters. Some of the hate has to be because it's a remake of the original film - they CALL it "The Karate Kid" - yet there was no karate... and it really had absolutely nothing to do with the original film (aside from a few parallel story elements). Audiences resisted LIKING this because it was Jaden Smith ... and the felt the nepotism in regards to his casting (feeling like he wouldn't have been cast/starred in this film if it wasn't for his father). Audiences were a bit harsh on this film, in my opinion... it's enjoyable. And the athleticism of the kids they've got (especially the "bully" character - who actually DID all those Kung Fu moves) is amazing and underappreciated
That's is the story I heard too... It was like people thought Will Smith bought movies and videos, for his kids to act in. People interpreted that as, like them, like you liked me, without putting in the work. I didn't take it that way, the kid was good at acting and fighting. The Syfy movie "After Earth"... not so much. Actually both Jaden, Will and the story was kind of bad. Acting ain't easy, especially for a kid, but it seems like he put in a lot of work to get that good at both acting and Kung Fu to me.
I *think* the girl plays Chopin - Nocturne in C Sharp Minor (No. 20) for violin....Chopin is so haunting. If you've seen The Pianist, this song features in several scenes.
Jaden was in the Pursuit of Happiness with his father back in I believe 2006 and he also featured on an episode of Suite Life of Zack and Cody around the same time
@@alexp601 Yes they do. You can't, really, appreciate the good, if you don't know the bad. (And honestly, after earth isn't horrible..just the editing wasn't great.)
This movie came out 5yrs after Pat Morita (Mr Miyagi) passed away. A lot of people looked at Karate Kid like The Crow, Dirty Dancing, Lost Boys and many others where they didn’t want them remade… I did like this movie a lot… I never really thought of it as a remake though…
Jada said that they had turn their living room into a dojo, for him to practise. The picture that became the poster of the film was taken in the Smith living room. They went all in to support Jaden all through the moovie. And Jaden and Jackie Chan stayed very close
Fun fact there is a bonus scene where Jackie Chan and the teacher do fight after the tournament as the teacher is not happy with all the getting along and handing him the trophy
Great review! One interesting thing -- you were talking about how Jaden's parents were probably pushing him to train hard, etc. They were interviewed by Oprah shortly after this film came out. Will did push him, but Jada was upset because she thought they were asking too much out of her little boy and that he was going to get injured. They finally asked her to stop coming to the set because she was just hovering and fretting about the intensity of the physical scenes. LOL
I’m so disappointed this movie doesn’t get the love it deserves. If the original never came out and there was no nostalgia factor, this would’ve got better reviews. It was good but some people can’t get over the classics.
The BEST Karate Kid, which truly knows how to elevate the source material into something absolutely godly. Also, Jackie Chan deserved an Oscar for this role.
Actually at 1:02:10 That’s actually another friend as he did feel bad for hurting Dre, the one who tried to stop Cheng earlier by Mr. Hans house, he lost to Dre in the previous match, I believe it was the first fighter out of chengs group that Dre beat.
See a reaction and review like this one reminds me of why the pairing of Aaron and Tara is actually one of my favorite pairings of reactors on this channel, even considering the disagreements I have with some of their other reviews of select films. They are giving respect where its very well warranted.
I love you two together. And I appreciate you guys appreciating the movie. I remember liking the film but not loving it. But with renewed eyes it is very enjoyable.
i actually love this version of the movie, Jackie Chan and Jaiden Smith actually did really well with their respective roles, people hate on this movie because everyone compares it to the original when it was always meant to be its own thing
This is such a fun movie it has the same skeleton as the OG but feels so different I love them both for different reasons, the choreography in this movie is simply crazy
the only reason this movie gets hated is because of the name - had it been called kung fu kid or something then this would have been way better recieved, but i dont know if its just me but having Jackie Chan talk about Kung Fu feels a lot deeper, thoughtful and powerful compared to Pat Mortica in Karate Kid
Here in Brazil, for a few years it was frequently shown on open TV, which is why I watched it in 2016/17 (around there). I'm from 2001 and many of my generation that I lived with watched this film. 😊😆It's a classic. We like it so much. Justin Bieber's song too.
This was literally one of if not THE favorite movie growing up. So much heart, such a good story. Amazing acting on all sides. I rewatched this dvd until it stopped working. And then I bought a new one😂
You might want to look up the term (Tofu Dreg). The Chinese construction industry has a massive corruption problem. So several buildings decay or fall apart.
1 people hate the smith family 2 people just absolutely love the original That's the only thing I can think of. But this is a star cast, great performances, writing, action. It's great.
I'd like to see Aaron & Tara watch some more Kung-Fu movies. The first 'Iron Monkey' movie in particular. It stars the actor who plays this movie's Kreese(the bad teacher) who is a doctor/vigilante in China. Donnie Yen is in it too. They're both awesome in it🔥📽
Because people were too stuck on the original films that they couldn't move past the nostalgia of what they had to appreciate what was being given to them. I mean, how often do we see this with fans of movies and just in life in general...
THATS EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS. People refuse to admit that a remake can be as good as or even better than the original. Nostalgia blinds them. But when it comes to these movies, I’m taking the 2010 version every time.
@@mpatient133 No its not that, you two children need to get your facts straight before you go spewing bullshit like that, if this was called the "kung fu kid" then maybe people would have enjoyed it more, plus the only redemable thing about this entire movie was Jackie Chan.
@@scorake14it is exactly that. Yes, the title could have been changed to fit this adaptation a lot better, however the term remake doesn’t mean that it’s going to be exactly like the original. It’s a slightly new concept that pulls parallels and similarities from the original. You’ve left many comments saying the same thing over and over, let people like and enjoy the movie while you maintain your own opinion.
Jayden did a great movie back in 2020 called Life in a year with Cara Delevingne really shows how great an actor he is also learning martial arts can be very punishing my dad came home with broken ribs a few times after his Kung Fu classes so you can imagine what a tournament is like lol
Although I loved the originals, I truly enjoyed Jaden & Jackie. This movie has such touching moments & I was impressed by Jaden's training. He also played with Will in the movie Pursuit of Happyness.
Unpopular opinion. I prefer the 2010 Karate Kid movie to the original. This may be because I watched the 2010 one first but I stand by it. 2010 version is my Karate Kid movie.
As a bit of a martial arts nerd (not martial artist, to be honest), calling it "The Karate Kid" when he's doing kung fu kinda annoyed me. Like calling capoeira taekwondo because they both got a lot of kicks.

They did this movie so right. They made Jaden smith the role and nobody cared. Just amazing casting and directing
I *think* the girl plays Chopin - Nocturne in C Sharp Minor (No. 20) for violin....Chopin is so haunting. If you've seen The Pianist, this song features in several scenes.
YAY love me some Jackie chan , I kinda love this “reboot” or whatever it’s classed as although the original mr miagi is simply perfect (rip x❤)
my karate kid and never say never for sure raise me, just an amazing movie all around
kung fu*
I remember watching this in theaters and I absolutely loved it, never understood all the hate
Jaden was in the Pursuit of Happiness with his father back in I believe 2006 and he also featured on an episode of Suite Life of Zack and Cody around the same time
PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS GUYS! HE WAS IN PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS! NOW WATCH IT!
Please watch it 🙏
But they don't have to watch After Earth 😅
@@alexp601
Yes they do.
You can't, really, appreciate the good, if you don't know the bad.
(And honestly, after earth isn't horrible..just the editing wasn't great.)
This movie came out 5yrs after Pat Morita (Mr Miyagi) passed away. A lot of people looked at Karate Kid like The Crow, Dirty Dancing, Lost Boys and many others where they didn’t want them remade…
I did like this movie a lot… I never really thought of it as a remake though…
3:21 Also the Pursuit of Happiness alongside his dad Will Smith.
I'm 48, and this has been one of my favourite movies to rewatch over and over again, and it hits the same every time. Awesome movie!
Tara, you are so good at just pointing things out that are happening on the screen. Such a great and insightful reactor!
Such an underrated remake. I love this movie. Aaron and Tara's reactions are so much fun.😁
I think is one of Jackie Chan's better performances.

Let’s goooo I wasn’t expecting this one
LOL
My biggest problem with this movie as a martial artist is that its called Karate Kid when he's being taught Kung Fu
Yeah 🙃
Like everytime i see it it just reminds me of how my mom has called my Tae Kwon Do by Karate for 24 years
Yeah, the average person doesn't know the difference.
That was a marketing choice. It is called "Kung Fu Kid" in some counties.
The movie addresses that when Jaden Smith's character says, "It's not Karate, mom, it's Kung Fu". They kept the name cause it's a remake
I’m so disappointed this movie doesn’t get the love it deserves. If the original never came out and there was no nostalgia factor, this would’ve got better reviews. It was good but some people can’t get over the classics.
I saw this in theaters. Gets me teary. What a great and powerful movie!
I loved Jackie Chan in this. Like an Old Wise master but he also had his faults and cracks. Trully amazing
This was my Karate Kid growing up! Love this movie!
3:21 but also a really amazing movie before that called Pursuit Of Happyness also with his dad. You should definetely see that one its a must-watch
See a reaction and review like this one reminds me of why the pairing of Aaron and Tara is actually one of my favorite pairings of reactors on this channel, even considering the disagreements I have with some of their other reviews of select films. They are giving respect where its very well warranted.
Jackie Chan & Jet Lei
(Forbidden Kingdom)
Great fight scenes & fun
Beautiful Music
I love you two together. And I appreciate you guys appreciating the movie. I remember liking the film but not loving it. But with renewed eyes it is very enjoyable.
i actually love this version of the movie, Jackie Chan and Jaiden Smith actually did really well with their respective roles, people hate on this movie because everyone compares it to the original when it was always meant to be its own thing
This is such a fun movie it has the same skeleton as the OG but feels so different I love them both for different reasons, the choreography in this movie is simply crazy
This is my favorite Karate Kid, man. The action alone is way better, and Jack Chan’s character is absolutely great. So much heart
the only reason this movie gets hated is because of the name - had it been called kung fu kid or something then this would have been way better recieved, but i dont know if its just me but having Jackie Chan talk about Kung Fu feels a lot deeper, thoughtful and powerful compared to Pat Mortica in Karate Kid
Here in Brazil, for a few years it was frequently shown on open TV, which is why I watched it in 2016/17 (around there). I'm from 2001 and many of my generation that I lived with watched this film. 😊😆It's a classic. We like it so much. Justin Bieber's song too.
Glad they included the meme part in this edit. "I want to go home!!"
Karate Kid 2010 and Reel Steel has that same feels, movies with a heart!
Underrated addition to the series
This was literally one of if not THE favorite movie growing up. So much heart, such a good story. Amazing acting on all sides. I rewatched this dvd until it stopped working. And then I bought a new one😂
The way people hate on this movie is crazy, it’s literally such a great movie😭
You might want to look up the term (Tofu Dreg). The Chinese construction industry has a massive corruption problem. So several buildings decay or fall apart.
1 people hate the smith family
2 people just absolutely love the original
That's the only thing I can think of. But this is a star cast, great performances, writing, action. It's great.
He was also in the Pursuit of Happiness (with his dad) before this movie. It's good
After this movie, Zhenwei Wang became a master at kung fu.
He already was. That's why he got the role. But he did keep at it.
It doesn't have so many reactors like it should and it's surprising 😢but however y'all reacted and we appreciate and love y'all ❤❤
I'd like to see Aaron & Tara watch some more Kung-Fu movies. The first 'Iron Monkey' movie in particular. It stars the actor who plays this movie's Kreese(the bad teacher) who is a doctor/vigilante in China. Donnie Yen is in it too. They're both awesome in it🔥📽
You guys should check out the deleted scene of Mr. Han (Jackie) fighting the bad teacher after the tournament
“How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren’t real”
-Jaden Smith
Master philosopher
Y’all should watch the foreigner with Jackie Chan! It’s sooo goodddd🥰
I really don’t understand the hate for this movie, it has so many good, emotionnal scenes, I love it so much ❤
3:20 PLEASE WATCH , THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS with will smith and a young jaden smith (his first role) it’s so beautiful
I used to use this scene from the movie when I transferred schools against my will “I HATE IT HERE, I WANNA GO HOME” lmfao 😂 ahh the 2010’s 😢
Although I loved the originals, I truly enjoyed Jaden & Jackie. This movie has such touching moments & I was impressed by Jaden's training. He also played with Will in the movie Pursuit of Happyness.
we love Jacie Chan
Theres a blue ray exclusive scene where Jackie chan and the evil Kung Fu teacher fight each other on youtube
Unpopular opinion. I prefer the 2010 Karate Kid movie to the original. This may be because I watched the 2010 one first but I stand by it. 2010 version is my Karate Kid movie.
Jackie Chan did fight the bad coach in a deleted scene. It’s on UA-cam
As a bit of a martial arts nerd (not martial artist, to be honest), calling it "The Karate Kid" when he's doing kung fu kinda annoyed me. Like calling capoeira taekwondo because they both got a lot of kicks.
