Mementotlan is Kinda Good Now?

If you told me that Mementotlan would one day be a good archetype, I wouldn't have believed you.

This archetype has SO much potential. And the fact it represents old og cards makes it even better. Imagine Serpent Night as a Memento?

I am somewhat exited for this deck for when it's new support comes into MD, and hopefully by that time Snake Eyes are hitted harder and this deck could have a easier time (granted it probably would have to play against a lot of Fiendsmith decks).
And while I know it will perform betterer in the TCG, because of no roach, could the deck play under Maxx C? Like I can see it, somewhat, if you open with Angwitch instead of Dark Blade or you also opened with bone party, but I don't see what other hands do it (besides the ones that you got good and drew the out).

Combined conqueror is 2-3 interruptions on its own, so its not the worst. You get there in 3/4 special summons depending on the starter and the deck plays a ton of hand traps, so its better under roach than it looks.

Actually there's a neat way to play under maxx C if you have Bone Party OR Fusion in your hand. You won't end on Combined Creation but at least you can summon Combined Conqueror during opponents' turn as a disruption. And you can achieve that with just 1 to 2 summon under Maxx C.

So quick question.. is the Herald link 2 here just for if mace has no real purpose in a matchup? Or is there an interaction im missing in the grand scheme of this deck?

That's about it, the pure version of the deck has no access to spell/trap negates at all so the herald link 2 is more or less your only option if you need it.

Is this like Aztec/Mayan mythology inspired. The name kinda reminds me of the old gods Central America held reverence for.

It actually is! The name is a reference to and their field spell is explicitly the mictlan!
