Every time Veidos is on the field, this becomes a Gun pointed at the opponent. The more pyro fusions they release, the better this card will get. The best, and most fun play of the deck is the full opponent board wipe. Some decks really struggle to avoid it, or go through not optimal plays because of it. If the deck ever reaches some relevance is because of this type of play. But, has you pointed in the video, the ONE big issue, the one where konami draw the line on the sand, is the "making opponent pyros on their turn". I still thinking if would be better for the game having this. Would definitely make the deck much better. The GY effect is cute, but did not come up that often - you can use the card to save a veidos nuke from called by the grave, or enable Hero pop, or in the grindgame, enable the second copy of the card. Because of this, is the normal sacrifice/target for Fusion Veidos effect. Yeah, we have at the moment 49 cards - but still, feels fluid - most of the cards, get other cards so you go through resources fast. The risk is more chance of the full brick hand or not enough starters. More tests needed. continues:
EXTRA DECK (very wip): x2 Fusion Veidos; Feels very good to drop him on opponent head, while also having at minimum 4.5k atk. The one thing that pisses me off, and i agree a lot with you is how it disruption effect works. If at least he destroyed the card it would enable Obsidim; But its okish; x2 Embers; Feels very ok. It's utility comes most form its materials. Prime target for super poly if you have Obsidim. The Field spell retrieval is actually pretty good (as i said, we always want obsidim in hand/field). And it's offensive power is not to be ignored. One thing that sucks is that it does not have destruction protection, some times you are forced to make it with veidos and the trap to nuke things; 2 of each really feels necessary. One because most of our plays revolve around these cards, and the pyro lock; Also shaman lets us recycle them if needed. The super Poly mini package: x1 Garura and x1 Mudragon. x1 Chaos Angel: Garura + any lvl 4 ashened; Helps to break boards. Battle protection can give you time; x1 Banshee; One of the enablers of the deck. It gets you what you are missing. Either Veidos or the Field. Ideal material of S;P; The generic utility package: x1 S:P, x1 Typhoon. (maybe Zeus too?). x1 Kashtira Shangri-la; This one sets up a defensive turn 1. Its very easy to end turn 1 with this on board and a bunch of Ashened monsters and Veidos on Opponent field. It also protects itself from Veidos Nuke wich is nice. And that is the v1 deck. Feels very ok and fun. When it slaps, it slaps. But a min/max of board breakers and handtraps is necessary after reading the format. that's the best i reached so far. I really like this deck and theme (its funny, because i never played Dark Souls). What the deck needs? Well. Some Ideas: - The one custom card that they probably will never make: Another field spell that treats itself as Obsidim in deck/field/GY. Makes op monsters pyro on their turn. Maybe searches on activation, and sets original obsidim when blow up? something crazy - maybe even an Orcust Babel effect to make ignition ashened quickies (king and Spearhead). - Main deck monster that summons another Ashened from GY. More GY use and recycle; - Way to protect your monsters from the Veidos Nuke (kinda silly wanting a "solution" for a problem they designed); - More fusions. In theme and pyros in general. One of the big issues is that pyro support revolves more around fire rather than pyros themselves. We need more pyro things. Because of this, this deck can only go up, i think. Well, if you read all this, thank you very much. I appreciated the video and wanted to give you some other perspective/take on the thing. Sorry for the long ass comment haha
It is the year of fire, maybe the next 2 core sets will be additional Ashened support and they will cover those flaws. One can hope, this deck is soo cool, it would be a shame if this is the extent of this potential now.
The worst part about bad TCG archetypes is that they are the only thing we have to spice up the TCG meta. Most of the time, the TCG is is stuck copying the decks the OCG has already figured out. There is no fun in getting new decks revealed, then having to wait a few months while someone else gets to play with them, until they are bored and we get them passed down. Anytime we get a deck first, even if it's not unplayable, it feels like a wasted opportunity if it doesn't have a significant impact. Gold Pride and Plunder were okay, Beetrooper was DPE turbo for a few weeks I think. What was the last truly powerful TCG deck? Spyral and Subterror only got strong because of OCG support, Kaijus were just one off removal or side deck cards. Dangers came out half a decade ago
Most of the decent decks don't get rolling until they get released in OCG anyway since usually that's the wave they include the one good card that makes the deck playable
I intend to do this as a series where I just talk about specific archetypes. From poor design in general or issues that I'd like to see resolved. The only one I have in the bank after this is Vanquish Soul.
You pointed out a lot of the decks flaws that I’ve noticed while play testing. One thing I felt the deck needed was another Veidos type monster to pop field spells in the event that your veidos does gets hit with ash. It could also give some more advantage to the deck such as recursion from grave or adding names from deck. It would probably need some restrictions because to many field spell hand traps would be bad but having more lines of play for the deck would be much appreciated given how the deck folds to one hand trap and how many cards mention your opponent having a monster with 2800 atk.
how can they just create a nice look archetype then throw it in trash can, they can make it better, stronger but they refuse. What a shame for TCG card creators
I'm still going to cook with them. Krishnerd Witch works with them pretty well. Kaijus help pop Veidos and can answer any negation on board. Volcanics offer solid burn and some spot removal, they're also a nice filtering system and build a grave. Shamen helps recover from Shifter, King pulls everyone from deck. They can build into Banshee to get the Colossus play (provided they wait to use Awakening or Extinguishing). Awakening and Extinguishing both search Veidos with their design and Extinguishing is an Ashened card which is searchable. Pot of Prosperity is pretty good for consistency.
Tistina and Ashened have got to be one of the saddest TCG exclusives I've seen recently, and things were looking fine with Gold Pride. Ghoti were like a Magikarp on land initially before people realized that you could play them with Runick (like a dozen other archetypes) and then OCG decided to give them some mercy. But I'm very curious what bandaids can they even give to these two to make them not feel so clunky.
I'll give you what this deck needs in a single card: Circular of the Ashened Lvl. 4 If Obsidim is in field zone: SS this from hand. During the Main Phase (Quick Eff): Discard this card from hand; place Obsidim from your deck or GY face up in either players field zone. If your opponent activates a card or effect while you control a Veidos card: You ca banish this card from your hand or GY; negate that effect and destroy the card. There, done. Gives T1 play against decks without fieldspells, Fusion Veidos becomes much better, Awakening cannot be ashed anymore and its another lvl. 4 extender for banshee.
I mean there's a good ashened deck out there that runs a Gold pride engine: nytro head specifically (because it's pyro and summons a pyro token, that can be used to damage your opponent's field) and some gold pride search cards
My only complaint is your take on the fusion trap. You are absolutely correct in that the type change should be an on field effect, BUT you'd either have to change it to a non continuos trap (but in that case veidos can't pull it from the deck) or have is send itself to grave after fusion summoning. Otherwise you'd be able to superpoly your opponent every turn so long as you have targets in your EXD for the low price of popping a field spell and i personally don't think any deck in general should have that kind of power.
Yeah Super Poly effects aren't very healthy for the game. I just don't get what point there is in printing cards that barely function. When they could just make them do something actually interesting AND be good.
@@RenegadeRedoer I just don't take it that seriously since i'm just a filthy casual. But tbh i'm just glad you made this vid without coming off as a jackass, since alot of people seem to take this theme's existance as a personally slight because it wasn't as good as they wanted it to be. The things you suggested seem like improvement konami might actually make (provided they actually give a shit). I'll always prefer "this is bad here's how to fix" over "this is worthless garbage and the designers should be ashamed". I also think spearhead has a use, since it can bounce monsters that aren't veidos, it's just a shame it not a quickie
A lot of people get too invested in a decks viability. It only really irks me when decks aren't very competent at whatever they are trying to do. I've never really felt like tearing down decks for their flaws is conducive to anything. So I always try to look at what can be done to fix/improve them. Like Spearhead is a bad card contextually, but with way more cards focusing on a cohesive playstyle. He'd end up being an absolutely fine part of the deck.
So the next deck for this series is mimighoul, i presume? Yes, i know that at time of writing this, it doesn't have a second wave *But we all know where that ship is gonna sail*
I think TCG exclusives are trying to make going second decks without being as ridiculous as Tenpai If you have veidos against a deck that uses a field spell you pop it to set the super poly trap and use that on your turn... if it survies
Ashened & Volcanic have some weird pseudo synergy, but the issue is that the bridge cards are either non'searchable or take up space modern design doesn't give you without just getting buried under the contents of the Discount Handtrap warehouse someone else is piloting. Sad really, cool art, mid' archetype.
The waves of support are just like the games that inspired them Dark Souls 1 was good Dark Souls 2 was bad Maybe in a few years we get a 3rd wave thats better than 2 and almost as good as 1
First of All no Deck of All Plays Without Other gineric sinergy cards... second , jeah it's a Deck whitch has some low blow cards. But in second wave you got a surch for vaidos whitch is the fusion spell (First eff) and last shaman you can banish card Take too :) and no card (Adept vaidos) you not need your grave:P thats why you can Use shifter xD
I still don't understand why the search spell wants to put the monster into the GY before adding it back to your hand. Your main monsters doesn't have any GY effect, so there's barely any reason to foolish them in the first place. Most of the time you'll use it to get Veidos. It's just an unnecessary extra step that can go wrong, in a deck that desperately need consistency. The TCG is so shit at designing cards
Too reliant on the field spell that are frequently destroyed, little to no grind game because of bad recursions, boss monster that is hard to bring out is just a big beatstick, and lacks good extra deck support(it locks you to pyro).
The fact that Konami brought out a fusion monster that is supposed to be used via Super Polymerisation (or Super Poly-like effects) that is not really generic at all but uses one of the rarest types in the whole game (Pyro) tells lots. You know, Pyro type. The one that is only ever used in the current meta dominating deck: Snake-Eyes. Really. I really wanted this to be good. But no. Also, why do you sound like Virgil.
Konami doesnt support anything unless its waifu bait trash or crap that lets you just shit on your opponent via effects and monsters. Ashened has neither so its no surprise Komoney hardly gives a damn about it. BUT OH BOY TENPAI DRAGONS AMIRIGHT?!
Whats wrong with the deck? No win con. Honestly its a super poly deck with bad fusion spells and monster, no way to search super poly, field spell that only turn enemy monsters in to pyro during your turn.

More tests needed.
continues:
EXTRA DECK (very wip):
x2 Fusion Veidos; Feels very good to drop him on opponent head, while also having at minimum 4.5k atk. The one thing that pisses me off, and i agree a lot with you is how it disruption effect works. If at least he destroyed the card it would enable Obsidim; But its okish;
x2 Embers; Feels very ok. It's utility comes most form its materials. Prime target for super poly if you have Obsidim. The Field spell retrieval is actually pretty good (as i said, we always want obsidim in hand/field). And it's offensive power is not to be ignored. One thing that sucks is that it does not have destruction protection, some times you are forced to make it with veidos and the trap to nuke things;
2 of each really feels necessary. One because most of our plays revolve around these cards, and the pyro lock;
Also shaman lets us recycle them if needed.
The super Poly mini package: x1 Garura and x1 Mudragon.
x1 Chaos Angel: Garura + any lvl 4 ashened; Helps to break boards. Battle protection can give you time;
x1 Banshee; One of the enablers of the deck. It gets you what you are missing. Either Veidos or the Field. Ideal material of S;P;
The generic utility package: x1 S:P, x1 Typhoon.
Well. Some Ideas:
- The one custom card that they probably will never make: Another field spell that treats itself as Obsidim in deck/field/GY. Makes op monsters pyro on their turn. Maybe searches on activation, and sets original obsidim when blow up? something crazy - maybe even an Orcust Babel effect to make ignition ashened quickies (king and Spearhead).
- Main deck monster that summons another Ashened from GY. More GY use and recycle;
- Way to protect your monsters from the Veidos Nuke (kinda silly wanting a "solution" for a problem they designed);
- More fusions.
The last succesful tcg exclusive was Kozmo. And its now 8-9 years ago. All other decks were just fine or just an engine.
Burning Abyss? Spyrals?
@@TraumaCenter13kzomo was after ba, and spiryl need the ocg support to be good
Dangers... @@TraumaCenter13
10:18 the if jumpscare hit really hard😂
Bro started tweaking
Blud almost ruined the card😂
Absolutely love your video, please i beg you make more of these. i love the yugioh rants
I intend to do this as a series where I just talk about specific archetypes. From poor design in general or issues that I'd like to see resolved. The only one I have in the bank after this is Vanquish Soul.
@@RenegadeRedoerbut... Vanquish soul IS indeed a good archetype
It's depressing they designed an archetype that literally relies on the thing that kills them all.
You should do more of this type of Series of videos
Already workin on it boss
how can they just create a nice look archetype then throw it in trash can, they can make it better, stronger but they refuse. What a shame for TCG card creators
Deck isnt bad any souls player knows its just a skill issue
Veidos is Darkeater Midir, especially the fusion summoned one.
Many players got killed by Midir.
I think you know what i am talking about
Konami exclusive archetypes are so weird. You have some that were amazing (ba, kozmo, and spyral) and terrible (war rock)
Interesting that noone talks about Gold Pride. Holy strong with Punk.
Spyral was ass before the ocg got them. When spyral entered the ocg, they gave them a new card to help them; double-helix
@@cosmickirby580
You say that like it wasn’t always planned they’d get Double Helix.
deck bad lmao
The freak out about When VS If was hilarious and well warranted
Since I bet in Nobleknights long time ago, I decided not to invest in "TCG exclusives" until their worth is proven.
I wasn't sure if you were playing Shadow the Hedgehog music at first , but the second song confirmed it for me. Nice selection.
Needs freakn second Archtype support with searchable dragon since yesterday.
"Of course we're a TCG exclusive Archetype, we have to brick and get stopped by 1 handtrap while having during the main phase for slow traps"
I still can’t wait for this to come to master duel
Idc if these're good they're a frickin dark souls reference im using the hell out've this
I'll give you what this deck needs in a single card:
Circular of the Ashened
Lvl. 4
If Obsidim is in field zone: SS this from hand.
Gotta add more restrictions
@@TheOneNeo-br9fd just add the exta deck restriction for pyros only and were good to go lol
Yes, i know that at time of writing this, it doesn't have a second wave
*But we all know where that ship is gonna sail*
Dude, do i really need to explain you all the cool stuff you can do with Ashened ?
There's about 700 trash decks that have lots of cool stuff you can do when they totally work
Great series idea. subbed
Just saying this archetype needs “Springans Booty and Springans Watch” type of spell cards.
When was it ever stated that a deck is supposed to work solely only it’s own?
Ashened has potential
"IF" remember "IF" NOT "WHEN"
I think TCG exclusives are trying to make going second decks without being as ridiculous as Tenpai
If you have veidos against a deck that uses a field spell you pop it to set the super poly trap and use that on your turn... if it survies
i dueled a guy using this ashened deck and the new field spell monsters and field spell archetype and it was pretty good against my labrynth deck
Ashened & Volcanic have some weird pseudo synergy, but the issue is that the bridge cards are either non'searchable or take up space modern design doesn't give you without just getting buried under the contents of the Discount Handtrap warehouse someone else is piloting. Sad really, cool art, mid' archetype.
tenpai is just war rock done right
Man yearns to kill in battle. Phase.
Jesse Kotton use this deck as pure Ashened in locals and got X-0. anything else?
You sound like Shikamaru Nara
It was disappointing but it was still playable rouge at best
The waves of support are just like the games that inspired them
Dark Souls 1 was good
Dark Souls 2 was bad
Maybe in a few years we get a 3rd wave thats better than 2 and almost as good as 1
First of All no Deck of All Plays Without Other gineric sinergy cards... second , jeah it's a Deck whitch has some low blow cards. But in second wave you got a surch for vaidos whitch is the fusion spell (First eff) and last shaman you can banish card Take too :) and no card (Adept vaidos) you not need your grave:P thats why you can Use shifter xD
Do a video on Ursarctics
2:44 had me dead 😂💀
More like Triamid with a TCG exclusive tag on it.
How can you be more mid than Triamids. lmao
Who was hyping this thing?
But if the deck is bad why is veidos $30?
Because Ashened isn't the only deck he'll slay : )
Konami doesnt support anything unless its waifu bait trash or crap that lets you just shit on your opponent via effects and monsters. Ashened has neither so its no surprise Komoney hardly gives a damn about it. BUT OH BOY TENPAI DRAGONS AMIRIGHT?!
The deck was desappointing, not even a fun rogue, sad
Whats wrong with the deck? No win con. Honestly its a super poly deck with bad fusion spells and monster, no way to search super poly, field spell that only turn enemy monsters in to pyro during your turn.
