My hometown is 20 miles from TMI and I was six when the accident happened. It was so scary and all I knew was that the adults were acting very strange and talking about something in the air that was going to make us sick and something was going to blow up. On TV they were recommending evacuations and they said to go south because the wind was blowing north. My whole family (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents) drove to about 1/2 hour south of D.C. and took up almost a whole motel. The only way to get news was to wait for the newspaper every day and watch the 6:00 news on TV. One night they showed footage of President Carter and his motorcade driving through downtown Harrisburg and people lined along the streets cheering for him. I remember thinking everything's going to be fine now because the president is there and he would fix everything because that's what presidents do. They showed him standing right in the middle of the plant talking to the workers, and he even had Mrs. Carter with him. He looked so smart and I thought that he knew he could take care of it because he wouldn't put her in danger like that if he couldn't. It was the first time I felt safe again since the whole thing started. I don't understand politics or history enough to make a judgment about what kind of president he was, but I know he was my hero at age 6.
@@eyuin5716 Right. He graduated from Navy in 1946 and then served 7 years active in the Nuclear Submarine program. I'm certain that his career was very honorable, but he was never involved in the Pacific or European Theaters.
A big loss.😭In 1977 it was a year before I graduated high school and when he was out of office I was starting my life independent in 1981. He was a good person and helped so many building houses for them. Now he’s with his beloved wife for all eternity.
Carter wasn’t the worst president, and then he helped build homes for the Poor and never stopped until he got cancer that came back. he lived long enough to vote for Harris, and he didn’t like any form of discrimination. I remember when he got Israel’s Begin and Egypt’s Anwar Sadat together. Sadat was killed in 1981. Begin passed in 1992 a while after a heart attack. Carter was nice unlike Trump or Nixon. Obviously you have no respect for the dead. Carter is no doubt before your time as president. I was in high school at the time.
Hello how do you make such monthly ?? I'm a born Christian ✝️and sometimes I feel so down of myself because of low finance but I still believe in God.❤️
As a beginner, it is essential that you have a mentor to help you stay accountable. In my case, Elizabeth Marie Hawley has guided me for months and I highly recommend her. I focus on her. To be honest, I'm almost hesitant to let someone take charge of growing my finances, but I'm so glad I did.
He was garbage. Go read books from his SS agents about working for him. Angry, tantrum throwing incompetent fraud. Granted Biden has him beat by a mile but he was a complete fraud.
As a Trump supporter, this is a time for temporary unity, and it's sick how people are placing laughing face emojis, he was a terrible president, but he was probably one of the most moral presidents in U.S. history.
He was not a "horrible president", but he was not re-elected because of inflation and Iran hostages -- neither of which were his fault. He did a lot of good things for America ... and for the world. Why do you as a Trump supporter find it necessary to disregard facts and slander a good man? Ohh ... I forgot, Trump taught you that only your Dear Leader was not a horrible president.
Probably the most honest and decent president the US Empire ever had after WW2, a man of peace head of a warmonging Empire, that could not last long...
RIP Jimmy Carter, such a dedicated man who did so much for America cant believe another president just passed. I offer my condolences to him and his family, such a long, eventful, life.
Jimmy Carter is the (former) president that I have the most respect for. He was perhaps our country's most honorable president. He didn't shy away from owning his mistakes and was a loyal representative of his country. His post-presidential work showcased his humanitarianism globally. I'll always love and respect him for that. Goodnight Mr President❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rest in Peace President Jimmy Carter thanks for being a great President and a hero of mine thanks for caring for every American your legacy will live on forever

Shame on the democrats for trotting out a man who was clearly incapacitated to "vote for Harris". At least he got to Trump win another term. He was one of the worst presidents ever. He was a lightweight on leadership and foreign policy. But RIP...
You can thank the California oilmen, who bankrolled the election of Ronald Reagan, and faked the gas shortage, for those gas lines. No connection to President Carter, except Republicans did everything they could to sabotage him so Reagan would win. The Republican bankers and Wall Street rich elite pals artificially jacked up mortgage rates for the same reasons as the oilmen. Republicans don't want decent, honest and caring men in office like Jimmy. It makes them look bad, which they are. President Carter had a lot happen in the world during his tenure, that was unrelated to his Presidenty, but HE was the won who ACTUALLY negotiated the release of the hostages, and Reagan took credit for it. Sound familiar? Republicans STILL do that today. If you don't really understand history and truth, there is still time for you to reform and learn. God bless President Jimmy Carter❤

Povero Jimmy Carter , immaginate aver fatto il presidente degli USA e vivere abbastanza a lungo da vedere che in 40 anni il mondo è andato nella direzione opposta rispetto a quella un cui speravi per poi morire consapevole del ritorno di Trump
I understand he wasn’t a good president, but truly a good person. His pro Democracy missions around the world earned him respect and admiration. May he rest in peace and thanks for your long service to our country.
@ well, I’ll admit to ignorance since I wasn’t in the US at that time and wasn’t a US Citizen. In fact I was just a Latina teen. I just remember in the Reagan 80s people talking badly about Carters admin…something about the Iran Hostages and gas prices, long lines, inflation, etc. but again, this is just what I’ve read and heard, about those years. However, I do remember how he came to Latin America as an observer of local elections. He was welcome and well respected by all because of his humility, objective behavior and analyses and big advocate of clean and honest elections.
Rest in Peace Jimmy Carter

At least brother billy had a beer!
No one can be replaced for all the actions he did for this country & for that he may rest in peace while his legacy lives on.
Rip from Ireland, President Carter is so loved and respected this side of the Atlantic
Eh no, nobody cares
Rest in peace. He was one of the best presidents

Susan Wojcicki, James Earl Jones, Ken Page, Jimmy Carter and more. Why do famous people keep dying more than 2022?

Carter, a man of humanity and integrity, stood up for the Palestinians.

May he rest with God.

Yeah, yet another tragedy under Biden's watch.
President Biden RESPECTED him.
@Magdalenkaization Not really an answer 😕
One of the few presidents whose reign when America was not at war. RIP sir from a peace lover.

The very first time we tried, we invested $2000 and after some weeks, we received $8500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.
