Yes, simply approaching and talking to strangers doesn't make them your friend, but you still gain something valuable from them (unless they really don't wanna talk). Like maybe they tell you something interesting about their lives and you learn maybe about something new, which can open your eyes or expand your horizon. You also become more comfortable with talking to people who might actually become your friends.
Back when i would catch the bus, I've always wondered why no one ever talks to each other on the bus. I’m so happy u went out to talk to people, because I remember that this one lady in San Francisco came up to me and my parents and started talking and I LOVED that we were able to talk and not be afraid to just talk

I mean people like talking about their passions and achievements, and they like to talk to people who are genuinely interested. this is so sweet, and even though I sometimes struggle with social situations I’d love to try it.

I like the concept of the video, but a friend is not something you make in the span of one day. Really becoming acquaintances with someone in more then the course of a day is a stretch.
It’s not that simple because even doing that is too hard when you’re not putting yourself out there. Sometimes positive friendships can be started by one special day.
