Really important that Sam was able to take no for an answer without taking it personally or making people feel guilty. The respect for boundaries makes all the difference.
Andrew was such a sweet guy and I love how bubbly and helpful Angie was. I also loved how Elena prompted important questions about friendship to think about. There were so many great people that you wouldn't get to know unless you extend your hand to reach out for a connection and then continue reconnecting with.

@@SherrickDuncan really? How does it go? Do people show up? Bring their families? I wanna hear about this. I cannot imagine this working, but perhaps we’re all so starved for in-person human interaction, it would work.🤷🏻♀️
I'm kinda opposite> As introvert, it's easier for me to choose friends wisely if people piqued my interest by having personality that I'm looking for(helpful, understanding, things in common, be aware of my social anxiety/autism triggers for boundary sake, caring and easy to talk to). I'm between talking to them first and them talk to me first for this. I have social anxiety and mild autism
Friendship isnt something that can be given away that easily. If you asked people to be your friend and they said yes they most likely not friends, although maybe it could build up to that but friendship isnt immediate

@@itsthatguy0 you also have to be careful of the yes’s though. Not everyone who wants to be your friend wants a genuine friendship. Some people either want emotional supply from you or sex or something.

I love looking back to kindergarten and elementary school because of that. You simply ask someone to be your friend and you start spending time together!
This is so great. I think it's best to make friends when you're young, because I find that as I've gotten older, and more cynical about human nature, I lack the will to become friends with anyone. @@CleverCheetah Classmates are not nothing, they aren't strangers. If you think they are then you have a loose definition of what a stranger is. This video very is so incredibly inspiring actually. I’ve been struggling with my social anxiety A LOT lately, and have been seeking help more recently for it. Just today I had a therapy session and mentioned how my anxiety is not only putting a strain on my life, but others around me that worry about me. She mentioned trying some exposure therapy and I’m slowly working on forcing myself to be in uncomfortable small social situations and work my way up to bigger situations. Funny how this video shows up in my recommended, it makes me want to try this in order to help conquer my social anxiety. I think I want to make something like this my end goal. Thank you for this video
I think the most difficult thing for me in a friendship is maintaining that relationship. Friends grow apart... that's a sad fact. My three best friends (with whom I've shared basically my whole life) are living far away from me, and I'm doing my best to build up our friendship. And the group chat... the reason why I hate joining new group chats is nobody speaks anything after a short while and it's just... so hard to maintain that new friendship. That's why I keep my circle small. But the video is very entertaining! It's nice to put yourself out there to make new friends!
so true. i had to move away from my best friend and we texted for a while but now we don't really talk anymore. also i don't talk to any of the people i used to be in a group with. so yeah it is hard for me to maintain the relationship as a friend with people.

If not, then try to go to social places like parks and other avenues. It depends on what you can stomach. Meet people and you'll meet their friend group and keep webbing along. Be beware, there are a lot of bad people. Always have self-respect and dump them immediately if you think you wouldn't dare do what they're doing to you. I burned myself very badly because of not taking action against bad people.

As a UCLA student who suffers from introvertedness, this kind of inspires me to go out and make friends on campus. I would love to take this challenge on, especially with my few friends that I have.
Great Video idea. I think I would have been open to this if I was still in university but not now with random people off the street. I think the experiment actually ended up being pretty successful and realistic based on what happens in real life. I was interested in who ended up coming to the picnic at the end and when Sam met them so I noted it down below: Day One Malik # 5 (1:28) Mya #11 (3:13) Jadin #15 (3:52) Day Two Andrew #22 (5:40) Matt # 28 (6:35) Kenny #29 (6:37) Angie #32 (9:01) Mohamad #33 (9:40) Day Three Leo #54 (12:30) Noah #63 (12:54) Nicola #64 (12:54) Kevin #65 (12:54)
I absolutely love this so much!! All the people with no hesitation saying yes I’ll be friends we need more people like that. When did it almost become “taboo” to just walk up to people and ask to be friends. We should have empathy and break down barriers. This video warmed my heart. We should all be kind and treat people with kindness! This is so inspiring!
To be honest, if I had to guess, there are a ton of misconceptions irl. One of my classmates obviously has depression, yet he told me he stopped watching anime because he's growing up. I didn't agree with him cuz I've experienced depression and it took me one year to realise and another half of year to get out of it, which I realized when i started watching anime.
This video turned out to be 100 times better than expected, it's incredible and super wholesome, and it carries a really possitive meaning. Also, Elena was like the most real moment and the most special one, because sam could open up and actually explain what it was all about, just a great moment, also Malik rocks lol.
If someone asked me to be friends like this I 100% would have said yes. I think this is such a best idea and I think it would be really cool if people would start doing this at a bunch of different colleges. It really makes me want to meet some more new people.
Honestly, that's super impressive! Well done for putting yourself out there knowing that some people would reject you and for managing to get over a hundred people to say yes!
Did any of them blossom into a deeper ongoing friendship? I thought Malik and Angie were especially friendly going out of their way to make the connection stronger. 😺❤️
I'm also really impressed how Sam remembered everyone's names, even after having met them only a few days ago. It usually takes me multiple times to remember people's name. That is definitely an important part of maintaining a friendship
I understand why people don't do this. It's just weird and awkward at least in my opinion asking someone who've you literally never met to be friends most of the times people end up becoming friends over a common interest usually at school or work and seeing each other on multiple occasions to get to know each other a bit. Asking a stranger skips all that and you wouldn't even know if your compatible as friends.
I mean when you were a kid you would literally walk up to other kids and ask just this, and then you were besties. I miss those days, this is so great ❤️
Let’s try this with Adults in the real world and not on a college campus where you already encounter the same people every day. In college, I made new connections like every day and they often turned into friendships. In the outside world, there really isn’t a setting for the same type of connections with potential for friendship to cultivate in the same way shrug 🤷🏽♂️
How big was the college you went to? Cuz I rarely see the people in my classes on campus cuz my school is big, and people move around where they sit a lot, so I didn't really see the same people that much, maybe like 2 times a week
Meetup? Couchsurfing? At gigs/festivals? Various other groups & classes? There are opportunities out there if you're open to it... Its just that being open is often harder as we age 🌹🌈☀️
Sport leagues, bars, city tours, work, car meetups, book clubs, etc. There's still plenty of places where you can meet new people. It just takes more work.
"Looking back, it wasn't really about making 100 new friends. It was about trying 100 times, knowing that I'd fail. "But, if I tried hard enough, a few real friendships could blossom." That's why this video literally made my day. Because Sam put in the effort, some of these friendships, like Malik and Angie, will stick. Because Sam was willing to fail over 100 times, he created new and amazing opportunities for very real friendships. I loved this so much
I honestly had to cry in the end because this video is so positive and beautiful. Thank you so much!! In our time, where everyone is hiding behind screens and is terrified of real human interaction, this is just so motivating and inspiring.
This is one of the most wholesome videos on the jubilee channel hands down Angie, Andrew, Malik and the rest are all amazing people and angie had matching hoodies with him at the end :))
I remember my wellness teacher talking about how they're teaching the kindergarteners to be direct. Someone does something you don't like? Simply say it and the other person stops and respects them. In the modern world I feel that a lot of social things can seem complex and scary, but if you keep it complex and scary then it can be harder to progress. Simply ask, and if they say no move on. If they for some reason do freak out, all you did was ask to be friends.
I've watched this last night after thinking how introverted and isolated I am as a person and seeing Sam risking his outer Green Koopa Shell to talk to random students at the campus and forming friendships gave me a huge smile in my face somehow! 😃 I struggle with social / generalized anxiety along deep trust issues with people along severe ptsd and would easily be torn down to shreds when the first person he asked to become friends with rejected him. Rejection is definitely difficult for a handful of people like me if you constantly go through it as you're used to it happening but gets painful overtime. Making 100 Friends has to be one of Jubilee's BEST videos I've seen yet beside the experiment they've done about autistic people as I'm a high-functioning aspie myself along the one about asexuals. ♠ What I found most tense was @ 15:00 as Sam asked a dozen students in their own picnic group to join theirs and they ALL turned him down which must be so nerve-racking for him but totally understandable as they don't want to be involved in too many students they don't know. Heck, even having more than 2 people around me at a time would be way too much as I can only handle so many people to talk to at once without having a panic attack or passing out of being over-stimulated. Also, the girl @ 7:07 that Sam was talking to has such PERFECT POINTS as having a connection with someone is much different than being friends with them as you don't even know whom they are as a human being yet and takes time & trust to getting to know them in a platonic level. Other than that, this was such an amazing experiment to watch and really heartwarming and just ADORE Sam's "Empathy" sweater! 😇 *PS:* After reading *"Just Some Guy Without a Mustache's"* comment, was really heartbreaking and relatable to read as not having any friends can be a nightmare when you see people laughing and walking together or holding hands as a sign of close friendship out in public. 👬
I feel like most people said yes to being his friend because he probably brought up "we are having a picnic / i'm part of jubilee" and then most people said yes just so they can get free food / popularity from being on jubilee. If the guy asked to be their friend without saying that there would probably be alot more rejections.
Also the fact that a random guy going up to people and just talking can be very uncomfortable. Being a woman this happens a lot in general and the people can have not great intentions
Why shouldn't there be? Without context, we still live in a weird world. Showing his intent was the best way to gain trust and since a lot of people are familiar with Julibee, familiarity as well. Most people knew they wouldn't make it and didn't even come, why assume such things..
As someone who enjoys approaching strangers and building connections, this video really hit home and and was one of my if not my favourite video on the channel. Would love to see something similar in the future!!!!

@@abraham1331 could you elaborate. What exactly was his saying ? Cuz I’ve heard about it and read about the idea of convincing yourself ur friends with the person before actually becoming friends but I can’t remember where.
@@frodetelia8016 Basically he said friendship means you don't do stuff for your friends expecting something in return, you do it simply because you are friends, so feel friendship
Angie is the sweetest omg. And I 100% agree that having Angie with him made a lot more girls willing to say yes... honestly I don't know how I would react to a random dude asking to be friends either lol.
It’s safe to say you would react negatively. No one is judging you. You just have to be okay with missing out on experiences like this. Everyone understands human females are much more relaxed with human females. Even the most despicable humans understand that too, like Jeffrey Epstein.
@@legendofsociety796 Se aying "females" is dehumanizing since it is a term specifically directed to animals, I agree with what you said, and your writing was very clear, but saying "women, or girls" would be nicer, haha

No. Women would say no. It's a dude asking. Men might talk. The video is heavily edited for positive progression.
I teared up when Angie asked "Are you happy?" such a pure soul. This entire video was wholesome and it made my day. Thanks for this.
me tooooo omgg she has pure heart
I’m literally crying! It really showed the importance of communication in our lives. It wasn’t a failure, the fact that people really did show up at the picnic proves it. The whole idea behind it is wonderful!
Indeed
💯🙌❤️
Really important that Sam was able to take no for an answer without taking it personally or making people feel guilty. The respect for boundaries makes all the difference.
Exactly. With failure, comes success.
@@itsthatguy0not really
Andrew was such a sweet guy and I love how bubbly and helpful Angie was. I also loved how Elena prompted important questions about friendship to think about. There were so many great people that you wouldn't get to know unless you extend your hand to reach out for a connection and then continue reconnecting with.
Malik was also great too
High five to the 11 people who actually showed up 🙏 he was basically a stranger and they still came out. That’s just awesome
Honestly think that 11 is better than 100 cuz you can actually get to know the people more
I wanna see someone in their 30s or 40s trying to make friends. Would it even be possible to make this happen? As in meet, invite, and folks actually show up at the picnic at the end of the week.
Age does not matter ,People's intentions do !
Me too. Wanna know 🥰
I'm 34 going on 35 and I do it all the time.
I think I can pull it off, I'm 38 but most people think I'm in my 20's
@@SherrickDuncan really? How does it go? Do people show up? Bring their families? I wanna hear about this. I cannot imagine this working, but perhaps we’re all so starved for in-person human interaction, it would work.🤷🏻♀️
Angie is a vibe, Andrew is a great dude and Malik is a day one. This was a wonderful experience and it seemed fan.
As a college student and introvert, this video hits hard haha. I wish I had a person who would reach out and ask to be friends
Let's be friends 🙌
Friendship isnt something that can be given away that easily. If you asked people to be your friend and they said yes they most likely not friends, although maybe it could build up to that but friendship isnt immediate
@@Skiltra that's true and all it takes a first step🤝
No you don't. If you really did, you would've done it already instead of fishing for shallow validation in UA-cam comment sections.
A hearty laugh at your empty life.
Ive spent most of my life being introverted and never making friends besides the ones i met in my early teenage years and now I feel extremely motivated and empowered to embark on my own journey of making friends and connections and getting out of my comfort zone. Appreciate you Sam
Exactly. It’s like, go out into life, expect “no’s”. But when you get the “yes’s”, that changes your course. Better you do, then don’t.
@@itsthatguy0 you also have to be careful of the yes’s though. Not everyone who wants to be your friend wants a genuine friendship. Some people either want emotional supply from you or sex or something.
How is that journey going for you? Just curious here and hoping it's going amazing! 🙂
By the way, we can be friends if you want
It's been 2 years. We need an update
This is the type of thing we need more in the world.
I'll never have enough courage to do anything even remotely close to this, but if you asked me if I wanted to be friends like that, I'd 100% say yes.
I love looking back to kindergarten and elementary school because of that. You simply ask someone to be your friend and you start spending time together!
@biibiib buubuub yes, but no. We now know that there is also the bad and that people can be dangerous
I always said yes. And I was always thrown under the bus afterwards. But it was my fault, too.

Andrew and kenny as well
I agree🤗💕💕
Yea they were
I definetly love everyone but Angie won my heart, we all need a friend like her

This is so great. I think it's best to make friends when you're young, because I find that as I've gotten older, and more cynical about human nature, I lack the will to become friends with anyone. I'm still and kind and helpful towards others whenever possible, but I mostly require less interaction with people.
"It was about trying 100 times knowing that I'd fail." It's the perseverance, resilience and ambition that makes this a success.
this is so cute, i was watching this thinking "i wish someone would do this to me", but i guess if nobody's asking me then there's nothing stopping me from asking other people :) no need to wait something to happen when you can do it yourself

7:34 I was a little confused here because that’s how every friendship starts, from nothing nobody is born with friends. Friends are honestly just strangers you get to know. Also I LOVE Angie! People like her are the best! So open, receptive, friendly, warm and loving
Yeah. In my humble opinion, Elena is overcomplicating this.
I would disagree, most of my friends were classmates or colleagues or people I had some prior relationship with, it wasn't nothing to friendship

So my question to you is, do you wanna be friends?
I also suffer with social anxiety. I feel your pain.
I have tried exposure therapy, it’s nice but super scary
I think the most difficult thing for me in a friendship is maintaining that relationship. Friends grow apart... that's a sad fact. My three best friends (with whom I've shared basically my whole life) are living far away from me, and I'm doing my best to build up our friendship.
And the group chat... the reason why I hate joining new group chats is nobody speaks anything after a short while and it's just... so hard to maintain that new friendship.
That's why I keep my circle small. But the video is very entertaining! It's nice to put yourself out there to make new friends!
I totally agree with this. I keep losing friends faster than i gain them 😭
I agree :( struggling to stay close to mine as well. Hey yitong, you wanna be friends??😂
so true. i had to move away from my best friend and we texted for a while but now we don't really talk anymore. also i don't talk to any of the people i used to be in a group with. so yeah it is hard for me to maintain the relationship as a friend with people.
I completely agree with you there. Maintaining a friendship is hard

That was so wholesome to watch. Really enjoyed how optimistic he was in his pursuit. Got outta his comfort zone and met a bunch of beautiful faces. Sam's memorisation of names is immaculate. His energy is infectious. Always love initiatives like this. We need to see more of him!
Angie is the sweetest soul i've ever seen. And the fact that he remebers everybody's names
Elena sounds like someone who has really been through a process of deeply thinking about the meaning of "friends". But everyone has a different concept of friends, some think about it deeply, and some like me just, whatever.🤷
This legit feels like a yes theory video , makes me so happy , feeling all that love and compassion through this video and kind of absorbing all of that , how this person's 1 idea is gonna impact hundreds of people those met irl and the people who watch the video ,
This was really inspiring!! As a black girl in a white suburban area I went my whole high school experience with barely any true connections and found it hard to put myself out of because of fear of a lot of things but always wanted to do something like this.

Malik, Angie, and Andrew were amazing! i can definitely see Sam having a long lasting friendship with those 3 FOR SURE
This made me feel so much more confident about making friends as someone who has made no friends at uni
Make friends is extremely hard nowadays, it truly is because some people have social anxiety or just don't wanna make new friends.
Which I understand that but damn getting rejected still stings ya know. Anyway I love the video and jubilee always bring new and fun stuff to us ♥️
As a UCLA student who suffers from introvertedness, this kind of inspires me to go out and make friends on campus. I would love to take this challenge on, especially with my few friends that I have.
Hope you made some friends
Great Video idea. I think I would have been open to this if I was still in university but not now with random people off the street. I think the experiment actually ended up being pretty successful and realistic based on what happens in real life.
I was interested in who ended up coming to the picnic at the end and when Sam met them so I noted it down below:

Malik # 5 (1:28)
Mya #11 (3:13)
Jadin #15 (3:52)
Day Two
Andrew #22 (5:40)

Malik and Angie are so cool. Also, the amount of wholesomeness is overwhelming.
and Andrew
I'd love to see a update video maybe 2 or 4 years from now.
Angie was tryna smash.
I'm also really impressed how Sam remembered everyone's names, even after having met them only a few days ago. It usually takes me multiple times to remember people's name. That is definitely an important part of maintaining a friendship
Angie is literally the type of friend i need, someone kind and loving.
I absolutely loved this. The joy and growth that can come from stepping out of your comfort zone just a little is amazing.
Angie is so nice and humble♥️
I wish people did this more often you never know what someone is going through you just might make there day
I understand why people don't do this.
I miss those days, this is so great ❤️
This actually made me cry. So beautiful. Best Jubilee video ever actually.
Angie and Malik were truly awesome. Props to everyone!
@Josephif Smithling did you ask it irl or online?
Sport leagues, bars, city tours, work, car meetups, book clubs, etc. There's still plenty of places where you can meet new people. It just takes more work.
I really like Elena’s push back on this, I love her questions
When Angie asked him "Are you happy?" ...wow... that's all u need..just one friend who cares about you 💚.
"Looking back, it wasn't really about making 100 new friends. It was about trying 100 times, knowing that I'd fail.
"But, if I tried hard enough, a few real friendships could blossom."
That's why this video literally made my day.
Angela is such an angel 😍😍😍 the energy she has .. it's contagious I love her
The whole video is soo wholesome .. I really enjoyed it
This is one of the most wholesome videos on the jubilee channel hands down
Angie, Andrew, Malik and the rest are all amazing people and angie had matching hoodies with him at the end :))
Kinda brings a tear to my eyes the sincerity in a lot of their hearts. A lot of people with a lot of beauty inside of them.
I've watched this last night after thinking how introverted and isolated I am as a person and seeing Sam risking his outer Green Koopa Shell to talk to random students at the campus and forming friendships gave me a huge smile in my face somehow! 😃
I struggle with social / generalized anxiety along deep trust issues with people along severe ptsd and would easily be torn down to shreds when the first person he asked to become friends with rejected him.
What I found most tense was @ 15:00 as Sam asked a dozen students in their own picnic group to join theirs and they ALL turned him down which must be so nerve-racking for him but totally understandable as they don't want to be involved in too many students they don't know.
*PS:* After reading *"Just Some Guy Without a Mustache's"* comment, was really heartbreaking and relatable to read as not having any friends can be a nightmare when you see people laughing and walking together or holding hands as a sign of close friendship out in public. 👬
props to u for putting this comment bro
Hey, do you want to be friends?
But even with that only 11 people showed up
As someone who enjoys approaching strangers and building connections, this video really hit home and and was one of my if not my favourite video on the channel. Would love to see something similar in the future!!!!
This actually is making me wanna go out of my comfort and ask someone new every day if they wanna be friends
this experiment was so wholesome and heart warming, honestly it makes me want to go an make friends with someone off the street I find amusing this summer
I honestly really like and appreciate this video :) I’m a transfer student and it was really hard to make friends at first and I was soooooo lonely but things have been looking up for me recently but only because I’ve been approaching people first and making that first step to make connections that could potentially lead to friendship :) it’s hard and scary but we gotta be the one to put ourselves out there to meet people and make friends!! Thanks for this video Sam!
what did you say to them when you approached them?
i came into this thinking it'd be corny but this was actually a really wholesome video 🥺
as a child, it was common for me to have someone come up to me and want to be friends with me. but just imagine how difficult it was for me when I moved to another country and no longer people came up to be my friend, and I had no idea how to do it. Fortunately, I began to show more initiative, but I still appreciate such people who appear out of nowhere and want to get know each other
I think this is my favorite video from jubilee ever. It expanded my perception of the world and also showed me how much love there is around us. All we have to do is introduce ourselves and open up a little
So sweet! I was just talking to my mom about how as we grow older, these walls and boundaries grow around us that are definitely necessary for safety but make it that much harder to make new friends. Thank you for this!!
This is so wholesome and genuine! Sam has a really great energy, I would have said yes and showed to the picnic in a heartbeat! We need more people like this guy and the ones who showed up in the end ❤
Very cool video. Give you a lot of props to keep going despite the rejections and 11 people showing up to anything is a modern miracle these days!
And the hardest part will be keeping that friendship over time, problem will came and those that stay still can be the real friend. Even though currently I'm walking alone in my way, I know its great to have friend to do crazy thing together lol. Great Job Sam!
I admire the amount of courage he has to reach out to other people and establish relations without the fear of either being rejected or accused.
I do not care how stressful this is PLEASE MAKE IT A SERIES
i'm so glad you made it to the end, seeing you with everyone was enough to put a smile on my face, thank you for this
LOVED this video! I can really relate to Sam’s energy changes throughout the entire thing. Positivity and inclusivity go a long way and that was evident here! You never know what someone is going through and how talking to them can make a massive difference. Keep up the great videos, Jubilee 😌

Also it's kinda surprising how willing people are to make new friends! It's so awesome :)
I really like this. Friendship is really neat and the fact that so many people are willing to be friends with just asking the question sounds so cool. It really makes it positive and shows how endearing people are together. If anything makes me a bit happy that people want to be.
I loved every second of this. I think one of my favorite parts was when he would make a new friend and then see them again later either the same day or the next day. Angela but you can call me Angie was my favorite. I just love her energy. I'm happy Jason agreed to allow Sam to do this
Biggest problem for me would be remembering all these peoples names 😭
