I was looking for a breakdown on the difference between these 3 keyboard layouts, and let me just say this is probably one of the most underrated videos I've seen. You went over everything we need to know while still not adding any extra nonsense to drag out the video. Great work!
you need it for fast buy scripts in cs go. Almost every cs go pro uses numpad to buy stuff. Like for example number 3 on number pad is kevlar+ helmet and 2 is ak or m4, 5 is smoke. Then when the round starts you go 2,3,5 and you bought everything you need in 2 secs. I copied FaZe Niko´s settings for the numpad to buy stuff and its much better then buying stuff without it. For me, 65% is the sweetspot between space saving and functionality. It has the arrow keys and most have the delete, page up/down keys. It's basically a TKL but much smaller (I don't really use the F keys that often so just having a shortcut for those in case I need them works great).
@@TheTechne I wish more keyboard manufacturers embraced the 75%. Same width as a 65% but with a compact function row on top. Only a single rows worth added height and width over the 60% and all the functionality of a TKL.
I use the 60% to play FPS and MOBA. TKL is when I need more function keys for RPG games and full size keyboard is only for productivity, using excel mainly. However, 60% is my favorite layout; it’s small, compact, minimalist and I have a small desk.
Great video!!! I started PC gaming with a tkl, then went to a full sized and now I'm using a 60%. Since my PC is primarily used for gaming, I love the 60%. Way more room for me to move my mouse and rest my arm's.
Currently using a fullsize, really need that numpad - and to me personally, the big difference between TKL + external numpad, is the aesthetics. To me the TKL's just look "castrated" (for a lack of a better descriptor) and not pleasing to the eye. Of course it also helps when I have a massive desk with lots of space
I want a TKL keyboard but my budget is only for a full sized keyboard. Yeah, I know it sounds weird but TKL keyboards in the country that I am currently live in is much more expensive than regular full sized ones.
Wow I was confused “why should I get a full sized?” But now I understand it better. 🙏 and the vid is grrreeaaaattt I dint like full size b/c it’s tooooo big lol
I wish they made a 60% but with a function key row on top. Similar setup to my laptop that I have absolutely no issues using. But when I think about how often I actually use even the function row... 60% is starting to look good. Only a couple games I actually play use insert, home, delete, etc and those are easy enough to remap.

Defs Full-Size and TKL. Anything smaller than TKL is a no go for me. I can do without the num-pad, but losing anymore keys than that, is a dealbreaker in my opinion.
The only keyboard I've ever used was at work. I was so used to the big regular one, until this year I bought my first gaming mechanical keyboard it's a TKL, I really haven't used it the way I want to use it due to my PC, what they should do with a TKL is hit a button on the board and you can switch to numbers then switch back simple
Ay! Love your vids, they’re apart of why I bought the red dragon draconic k530 you reviewed. Great keyboard, I bought it for the Bluetooth connectivity and it being a 60 percent to see what that hype is all about. Man I gotta tell you. I CAN RELATE TO YOU SO MUCH. I too keep a full sized and the 60 percent on my desk. I’m so used to a full sized that I absolutely cannot get used to using shortcuts on a 60 percent. If people are coming from a full size to 60, they should know about how slightly inconvenient that is. Also, when switching to the pudding caps on the k530, I keep going back to look at the original key cap mapping for the fn keys lol. So with that said, I’m shocked that I didn’t realize that the 60 percent hype started until fortnight which is totally true! Old dogs should stay with full size if that’s what they’re already used to lol! I really enjoy your videos man thanks for helping me make a difference in my purchase decisions!
I have been using a 60% keyboard for about a year now, and I kind of feel like it is not the way to go for me. Before the 60%, I used a TKL and wanted to switch to a 60% keyboard for the additional mouse space, since I was playing mostly FPS at the time. But using it every day now since I bought it, I feel like I need the F-keys and even the Numpad because I play a lot of different types of games. 80% of my activity on my PC at home is gaming, but I feel like if you play more than FPS games, then a TKL or even full-sized is best for gaming. Let's take an MMO or MOBA, for example, playing those types of games you have so many things that can be bound to keys additionally to what is already bound to a key by default. There are many keybindings in those games that don't need to be near your usual finger position and can be put somewhere else. In my case, when I was playing Guild Wars 2 I had my different mounts on my Numpad because I didn't need to reach them with my left hand, but with a full-sized keyboard I was able to bind them, essentially using them much more efficient than clicking on the HUD with my mouse every time. With the 60% or even the TKL, I was still able to find a workaround and bind them, but that meant other keybindings weren't as comfortable to use anymore. Basically, as you already said in the video, you need to think about what you are doing mostly and decide how many keys you need or how much room for your mouse you want/need. I will definitely switch back to full-sized, soon, as my one and only keyboard.
Ive experienced all keyboards, and Defenetly I think the tkl is the best, obviously, main work barely gaming, full size best, 60% barely work and all gaming, 60% is best, but the tkl is the best of both worlds, thats why I think the tkl is the best keyboard
I currently use a Logitech MX Keys, which is a full sized keyboard. Personally I love the keyboard but I rarely if ever use the number pad or arrow keys, I also hate how it gets in the way of the mouse.. I'm probably going to get a 60% at some point. Now this doesn't mean I'm going to toss my MX Keys in the trash, I still love the type experience. But I'll probably keep it in the closet, if I ever want the full size I can just pull it out. Obviously I'm in a privileged position to be able to buy both, if I didn't have the ability I would most likely go for the TKL.
I tried TLK but I am a programmer and I need the full size. I am left-handed as well so I need to move the keyboard way off to the right when I am gaming. This allows for good spacing between my hands otherwise my fingers move onto the wrong buttons. Great Video as always!
TKL. Why? As you said , its the best middle ground. With full size , its uncomfortable for me and i often hit it with my mouse , if i tilt it , it stabs my chests. 60% doesnt seem convinient to me , its a bit too small and you have to use FN for everything (arrow , end , del). I plan on trying 65% next. But 60% and full size are hard NO for me.

TKL all the way for me (Taurus K320 actually). I have worked and played on computers for almost 3 decades so my muscle memory really just needed that familiar keyboard layout.
I’m want to try out the 60% as a main keyboard, I almost only use my keyboard for writting and I barely use the function keys or the numberpad, so maybe that’s the perfect fit.
I REALLY want to go 60%, the only fear i have is games like DayZ, arma, squad and rust since they use arrow keys/numpad, it'd be akward as fuck rebinding the majority of the keys to use a 60%
I am fine with either a 60 percent or TKL my favorite keyboard is the ducky one 2 mini which I would have gotten but I heard the shipping takes months so I went to my Best Buy and got a huntsman te
i really should of made a 65% instead of 60% for the arrow keys! never use them and the moment i need them i dont have them lol, for real tho i love the 60% looks so good
Now im going to buy a keyboard and im thinking between hyperx alloy core and hyperx alloy origins core, but i like alloy core more bcs it has numpad. For me numpad is important bcs i dont only play games, i have homeworks on excel, autocad, catia etc. and its much faster and comfortable to use numpad. But the biggest difference is that alloy oringins core is mechanical, but alloy core isnt, but i dont want to spend too much money bcs alloy core is much more cheaper and it has numpad, alloy origins core is only mechanical, but it doesnt have numpad and it cost more. Also i dont play games competitively, im not streamer, youtuber or professional player which play on tournaments, im just casual gamer so i think i wouldnt notice between that 2 switches. Also i like i said before i dont want to spend too much money so i dont want to buy tkl and full size keyboard and then switch both of them when i game or when i have to do some work, thats ridiculous Edit: btw, i have been playing cs 1.6 and even now have been playing cs go with full size keyboard and honestly i dont have any problems

i have a ducky one 2 sf, i like it but the mini was out of stock with blue switches, i wish i waited untill it was out because now i can put a full size keycap set on the sf due to non standard bottom row, but i like the clicks in it. And i got it because i am a low sense player and i need that space. (PS I made my sense higher so my next keyboard is prob tkl)
Here’s my response, if you are a gamer looking for a keyboard and you already have a full size, then get a 60% and use the full size for work and swap to the 60% for gaming that’s what I did. 😁
Im going to get a 60 percent since my table is pretty small and I chose the 60% so I have more space and I currently have a full sized so I can just switch the keyboards out if I need to :D
60% - less than 800dpi TKL - 800dpi Full Size 1200dpi+ Basically what i believe is the higher your sense the bigger the keyboard. Youll have room if you play 2000dpi with a fullsize btw. Imagine playing on a low dpi lmao
Full Size - For Work. Not that good for FPS games w/ low DPI. Trust me, I've been hitting this keyboard with my mouse. TKL - Best of both worlds! Enough space for your table. You still have number and function keys at the top and you no longer need to memorize the shortcut keys from 60%. 60% - Popular for gaming. Haven't tried it though. Might consider getting Anne pro 2, Ducky one 2 Mini or Ducky Mecha Mini.

I’m want to try out the 60% as a main keyboard, I almost only use my keyboard for writting and I barely use the function keys or the numberpad, so maybe that’s the perfect fit.
go 65% trust me. check out the varmilo miya pro
@@TheTechne Thanks!
I REALLY want to go 60%, the only fear i have is games like DayZ, arma, squad and rust since they use arrow keys/numpad, it'd be akward as fuck rebinding the majority of the keys to use a 60%
I think tenkeyless is the best out of all
I am fine with either a 60 percent or TKL my favorite keyboard is the ducky one 2 mini which I would have gotten but I heard the shipping takes months so I went to my Best Buy and got a huntsman te
How do you feel about the huntsman ? do you like it or think it’s just eh?
Hi I found an apex pro full size for 150 dollar. Should I get that one or pay 70 more dollars for an tkl? Love your content
go with the fullsize, where is it only that much?
The Techne yes it was but someone bought it ;( should I still buy it for 220? I have the money for it
What keyboard do you recommened for me ? 60% or tkl in qwertz
65% or tkl
@@TheTechne 65 is a bit better but 60% i prefer
What would u recommend for strictly gaming?
A 60% keyboard.
i really should of made a 65% instead of 60% for the arrow keys! never use them and the moment i need them i dont have them lol, for real tho i love the 60% looks so good
I'm planning on getting the hunstman TE and pair it with the viper wireless
Marcus Chan I am planning on getting the hunstman te or Logitech g pro x
Can you give a link for keycaps for the razer huntsman te? Not the razer keycaps though
here are a few >> ua-cam.com/video/10oRjHkUvAM/v-deo.html
I like 60% keyboard for gaming but for typing I like full sized
Also i like i said before i dont want to spend too much money so i dont want to buy tkl and full size keyboard and then switch both of them when i game or when i have to do some work, thats ridiculous
Edit: btw, i have been playing cs 1.6 and even now have been playing cs go with full size keyboard and honestly i dont have any problems
Is a 60% ok for school work or should I continue using my laptop for they kind of things
I would get a 60% if your using it to type then it would work great. It’s also good for gaming if you do that as well
I have full size keyboard it's nice but it's big for my setup so I'm thinking to buy 60% keybored maybe after few months
I want Extended size with Macro keys. Why not ?
Hey man love your vids and I was thinking about getting arctis 5's. I've watched your vids on the headset and was wondering if you think I should still get them. if not what headset would you recommend around the same price
I love the 5's (for pc) but what is your budget?
@@TheTechne yeah im using them on pc, i have about $160 AUD (104 USD) im happy to spend on a headset maybe a little more if needed.
@@TTMigee I do really enjoy the 5's on pc.
@@TheTechne Yeah i just picked up the 5's yesterday and am loving them so far
i have a ducky one 2 sf, i like it but the mini was out of stock with blue switches, i wish i waited untill it was out because now i can put a full size keycap set on the sf due to non standard bottom row, but i like the clicks in it.
The thing I'm triggered the 60% keyboard is the lack of the top function keys
arrows for me
Nice, You’ve got yourself a sub
thank you :)
It would be tkl or 60% because I play fully diagonal so a full one is to big and to long.
Can you please make the software review of the redragon draconic?
Lovin the video
prob not a review for the software alone. do you have any questions? DM me on twitter and we can walk through it @TheTechne1
Im going to get a 60 percent since my table is pretty small and I chose the 60% so I have more space and I currently have a full sized so I can just switch the keyboards out if I need to :D
what key caps are on the razer?

@@TheTechne thanks
If tkl had multi media buttons is consider it but all but one do from what I've seen.
many corsair boards have them
How i look at 60% Keyboard
your friends cant alt f4 prank you
Hi. I am looking for a quiet TKL that is good for big hands, and gaming. Please help =)
go with the k320, with silent reds
@@TheTechne Thanks =)
Full size for the win
how do you survive with a 60% keyboard and no F keys?
Using fn/alt and numbers makes them turn to F keys.
60 percent is definitly my favorite
Ur probably play fn
@@alleeexx8280 lol I love how you say that even though you are subscribed to multiple fortnite you tubers lmao
tendo74 when did i say it was a bad thing i quit fn but i dont bother to unsubscribe to them bc their not in my recommended videos
apex pro tlk review???? @The Techne
;)
I’m getting a 60% just for gaming and opening UA-cam,twitch
i can play with any keyboard, the only thing is that my desk is kinda small so a tkl is prefered or a 60%
edit: rn i am using a ful sized keyboard
400 dpi ?! I use 4500 dpi
I prefer full size all the way... apex 7 here :)
I’m using apex 7 as well, TKL
60% - less than 800dpi
TKL - 800dpi
Full Size 1200dpi+
Basically what i believe is the higher your sense the bigger the keyboard.
John Francis Gamao if ur getting a 60% get a Durgod venus and thank me later
