Here from reddit. And I would like to ask if you will be covering only American geography and history or other wider history and geography such as other countries?
I definitely plan on covering more than just american geography, I just don't know where to start! European microstates have always fascinated me, as well as tiny countries in the caribbean and pacific. I have a long list of video ideas in mind :)
@@geography_joe Do American geography! But like, the good geography...like what was here prior to "New England" "New Spain" "New France" and the like. Do, like, proper "American" (or Turtle Islander) geography with the history of the countries that got invaded by Spain/France/England/... and where they are now. The First Nations (and Métis and Inuit) are still here, still participate in politics and still participate in their countries
Countries like Tsalaguwetiyi and Haki-nk and Továngar and Chikashsha Yaki and Anishinaabewaki and Wolastokuk and Sq'ʷayáiɬaqtmš and Niimíipuum wéetes and Inuit Nunangat and mitchif piyii and Dinétah and Apsáalooke Issawua and all the other hundreds of countries that existed and still exist on this continent! Most people, including probably yourselves, have never heard of most of these names of countries ... for a reason. Colonialism, as it still goes, and suppression of colonised peoples and their histories means that folks in the US, Canada, Australia and other heavily colonial States that host apartheid legal structures rarely know the names of the countries they live in, let alone the histories of the countries We are about to go extinct thanks to climate catastrophes on the horizon thanks in large part to colonisation and its insistence on spread capitalism. Think about how your channel can play a role in dismantling the colonial and capitalistic structures that have gotten us into this mess :)

easy sub. Keep it up! Teach me interesting things about geography, I saw your reddit post on your sporcle record video, you are clearly so interested and genuine, so share that with the world! suggestions for some improvement in case you need them: -You have a great voice and clear diction, so get better mic quality (money, I know, but it may be worth it) -Great voice, again, but just don't talk quite so fast. Be more deliberate, inflect your voice around important things a little bit more, and overall, try NOT to sound like you're robotically reading a script. Sometimes you're good here, for sure, but try to pretend you are speaking to an audience almost off-script. It's a tough skill! -Your graphics are pretty good, but I think they can get a little bit monotonous at times. For instance, much of this video is like you recorded a powerpoint presentation. However, the image at 4:39 is a good example of little things you should do more often. Move the pictures around a little bit, zoom them in and out, etc. Or, when possible, including more moving imagery (videos). Just make it interesting! This will make a huge difference. -light music behind your voice would be great i'm picking you apart. i loved the material, love your enthusiasm, and look forward to the next one.
Thank you so much for this comment, I really appreciate the honest feedback and advice! I'm working towards getting a better mic (working odd jobs), and currently writing the script for my new video. I've considered using music but I wouldn't know what music to use. And I'll definitely keep in mind the moving pictures aspect, I mainly use them BECAUSE my videos tend to read like a slideshow, which can get boring to look at after a while. But seriously, thank you so much man! Hope you like the next one :)
@@geography_joe the mic is just long term. no worries. as for music, really anything light will do. just try to basically fit it to the material, and keep it much softer than your voice. the videos and moving pictures and stuff, that'd be a great thing to work on. Also, I saw those guys on the /r/hawaii subreddit gave you a lot of shit for mispronouncing their hawaiian shit. i partially say "fuck them" for being such dicks, because they totally went about that the wrong way, like I'd totally not ever visit that subreddit every again as a result of what I read lol, but also pronunciations are something you should be careful of, I guess. Just consult local sources next time.
You did a video about America's smallest "county" why not now make a video about America's largest "country" and look at Wazhazhe Maⁿzhaⁿ or Osage Country/Osageland
There are so many countries across what is now the US/Canada that deserve recognition and shows about them! From the Cherokee Country "Tsalaguwetiyi" to the Nez Perce Country "Niimíipuum wéetes" to the Shoshone Country "Newe Sogobia" to the Blackfeet Country or "Niitsítpiis-stahkoii" to the country that was nearly completely destroyed in the American War for Independence: "Haudenosauneega" or the Haudenosaunee Confederation Country. Indeed, Haudenosauneega still issues its own passports as it also still sends representatives to the United Nations just as it did to the League of Nations (with still zero recognition of their State-hood or countrydom)
@@danachos I think if I were to do a video on the reservations, I would have to explain the ones in Northern Canada. The fact that only 14,000 people live on the entire canadian archipelago completely blows my mind, and to explain how they ended up there would be fascinating. I'll admit to not having heard of those reservations before, but I'm always willing to learn! I'll do some research on them!
@@geography_joe I am not saying for you to do a video on reservations; I am saying to do a video on countries. It is the Osage Country. It includes what pitiful remnants remain within the reservations, but it also includes hella lands/waters that belonged to Osage wayyyy before invasion and still belong to them after the rupture of every Osage-American treaty Tsalaguwetiyi is the Cherokee country.
