I've been to every one of the European places you cover. The microstates all have their own distinct personalities in my opinion. Monaco is bustling and filthy rich, Andorra is a remote mountain hideaway full of duty-free shops, Liechtenstein is essentially just a plain and a mountain (not sure I saw more than two or three other people in my time there!), San Marino is a dramatic mountain where they sell weapons in shops, Vatican is a well-known tourist trap, and Malta is a fascinating and proud melting pot of history and cultures. Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man are not very interesting relics of UK's colonial days. Gibraltar is a dramatic mountain and town that while it has similarities with the UK, feels quite distinct to me. You walk across the runway to get to the border, uniquely.
This was a really interesting comment to me. I’ve only been to liechtenstein but I’d absolutely love to visit all the other places. Makes sense that they all have distinct personalities given that they all have such unique forms of government, geography, and history
Hey Joe, I really enjoy your channel and I can tell you enjoy it. Just a small correction to your Vatican segment. Mussolini negotiated with the Pope, so he would acknowledge the Kingdom of Italy's existence. The Kingdom was unified in 1871. The reason that San Marino was not taken over was that they once hide the revolutionaries so a promise was made that they could live in peace and not worry about being taken over. Also if you ever want to see the private areas of the Vatican grounds then contact the head of the Ethiopian College (the only island left on the grounds). I did that before I went to Rome for Christmas and for the next two weeks I was in Rome had lunch on the grounds, and I got to meet the Pope twice. Lastly, the Pope when he is elected, he is also elected to the throne of Vatican City as King. Lastly, for your smile of the day, the Knights of Malta ( the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and Malta) exist and because of International Law they can issue passports, and they run one of the largest ambulance services in the World.
I’m really glad you like these types of videos where i just ramble off the dome! They take a lot less time for me to make and I’ve just been too busy to make vids the way i used to. Really appreciate the feedback man!
Just came from your "typing all countries under 3 mins" video. Currently enjoying this and made me subscribe. Keep on making vids like these! They're very entertaining and educational.
I think i found gold I’m trying to learn more about europe and geography in general and is so interesting Also i could listen to you talking for hours, awesome video!
6:50 To say that you can throw a baseball from any spot in Monaco into France, is definitely an exaggeration. Monaco is small, but not that small. The world record for farthest baseball thrown is 445 feet, 10 inches. The maximum distance from some points of Monaco (such as that dock you referred to) into France is over 3,100 feet. Some points are even more than 3,500 feet. So the statement would only be true for a portion of Monaco if you're close enough to the border. Awesome video though, I really enjoyed it!
MLG DOGE Yeah, honestly i wish i posted more when the world shut down but life was so depressing and uncertain that i just didn’t have it in me to work on vids. Maybe I’ll make one tonight :P who knows!
@@geography_joe I have a pitbull. Being a larger dog, he requires long (45 to 90 minute) walks. I video like this would fill the time nicely while we wander around Sandusky, Ohio.
You're doing an amazing work, I can see you really dedicate yourself to make good content. Hopefully all your hard work is soon going to pay off🙌 I also make videos related to personal development and language learning, I'd appreciate if you take a look. New follower here, I hope to see more good content from you☺️
Its noteworthy (and i forgot to mention this) that san marino, to appease mussolini, actually elected fascist rulers in order to stay under the radar when mussolini was around. This is the only time in history where communist leaders were elected democratically

Great video man. Just found your channel and loving your insights!
Well done
Thanks!
You're extremely underrated
Considering your delivery, and the amount of information you packed into this video, no, 45 minutes was not too long for me.
Thats honestly amazing to hear, cuz 45 minutes feels like such a long time

Thank you very much! Best of luck to your channel as well :)
why no new video
"Mussolini was trying to unify Italy" yeah no, thats not right bro
Sorry this was all stream of consciousness. I guess i should’ve said ‘take over all of italy.’ It only felt half right when i said that

Old Tunisia = Carthage :)
