Great work. I have a picture of my grandmother at two years old in 1909 standing on the front porch of a fine house on Kinsman Ave. Later, there is another shot of the house going downhill in 1946. It's gone now with a parking lot in that space

The history of this city happens so quickly. My great-grandmother was born in East Cleveland along Euclid Avenue in the early 20th century. Theres no longer a house where she lived.

@@geography_joe I pay closer attention to Dayton, where I grew up. Hundreds of beautiful houses have gone under the wrecking ball. Now there are only three left in the downtown area. ( do a street view on 198 to 204 W Monument, S-side, 45402 ). They are all fantastic houses, but nothing special in their time. - - - - - Are there good image repositories of the old Cleveland neighborhoods that once were? I'd post Dayton's, but I can't do convenient URLs as a reader/lurker.

Excellent video I moved to Cleveland in 1991 and one of the primary reasons where the Metroparks there is no other city that I’m aware of that has a Metropark system as amazing as the one in Cleveland. It is said that General Moses Cleaveland founded the city and never came back, way back in 1796. Im not a hostorian, I just love learning about the history of my hometown! Anyways, I was intrigued by your comment and was hoping I could ask you more about the “Firelands”, please? I was raised in Strongsville and lived there until I got married & now my husband and I live in Cleveland’s west side (I believe my location’s appropriate name is the ‘near west side’?), near the CLE/Lakewood border; along Lorain Ave. west of the West Blvd. neighborhood, but before West Park/Kamm’s corners. And because I’ve unfortunately never heard of the Firelands, I was hoping you might be able to give me more info or reference; only if you don’t mind, of course! Thanks so much in advance!!

Thirty Year Cleveland History of the Iconic 'People Not Mascots' Logo
    Artist: David Jakupca
Acrylic on Canvas 22" x 28" 1992 Signed Lower Right
The 'People Not Mascots' Logo is meant to be a Native American protest caricature of the racists Chief Wahoo logo of the Cleveland Indians Baseball team that lost to the Chicago Cubs in the 2016 World Series. It was originally designed and painted in 1992 by David Jakupca at the historic ARK in Berea Eco-Museum for the Committee of 500 Years of Dignity and Resistance along with the Lake Erie Native American Council (LENAC) incorporating elements of the Theory of Iceality on Environmental Arts. The 'People not Mascots' Logo has drawn criticism from Cleveland sportswriters, fans and local businessmen, but received immediate acceptance among humanitarian, religious groups and Native Americans.
The Cleveland 'People not Mascots' Logo gained international popular attention when it was it exhibited by ICEA at the 1993 United Nations World Conference on Human Rights held in Vienna, Austria.
It is the most widely known anti-racist logo and has changed the way people view the trillion dollar international sports industries by sparking the social justice movement in professional sports.

Cleveland does tend to get the ball rolling on these things considering our diverse and spread-out population. To not notice how diverse Cleveland is is just a byproduct of never leaving your neighborhood in my opinion

Greater Cleveland Expands Role as Home of the International Environmental Art Movement as the Primary Economic Engine for the Region and as the 'Cradle for a Universal Culture of Peace' for All Living Things
the Worlds Children. '........The Global Home of the Environmental Art Movement is the region in Northern Ohio that is noted for its growing concentration of Sustainable Design and Technology Industries. Geographically, the region occupies the same area as the Greater Cleveland Area where it is centered and where most of the companies are located. It is in the northeastern part of Ohio, an area stretching from the south end to Akron-Canton, Lorain in the west and Youngstown in the east.
It is visualized as the home for many of the world's largest technology corporations, as well as thousands of small start ups working on a sustainable future. The term ICEALITY is from the 'Theory of Iceality on Environmental Arts' is now generally used as a metonym for the global cultural of peace sector.
