The best advice I got was that Garcia doesn't play in keys, he plays the arpeggios and key for each chord, so he's playing the chord changes not just soloing in a key like a standard guitar player... so approach each chord as what is the 1,4, 5, 7 and for what songs is he adding the 2nd or 6th for color, plus all the chromatics....
Thanks! I always put videos up when I am excited about learning something and then later wish I had mastered it before I put up the video... but thats apparently how I roll!
There goes Jerry once again. Musical genius.
My estimation for him only grows the better I get... he was truly amazing

I bought the lesson from gratefulguitarlessons, but haven't mastered that yet...
hey could you maybe touch on some Althea soloing? mostly the gigs in the early 80s, 5/15/80 Nassau, etc
Clif. Thanks for the videos and really enjoy your tips. A video on how to riff on dancing in the streets would be great I bet...
I will add that to the To-do list. John Mayer did an amazing dancing with dead and company in Boston
Could you (or someone) please tell us a good lead part strategy? I have trouble deciding what key to play in for the lead parts.
