Sick!
"Dyers Eve" should be the next old one to be added in the next setlist.
sadly with the arthritis kirk cant play it and lars hasn't performed that double bass part in like 30 years :/
@@galsaksida8977 He played it in 2014
@@galsaksida8977 Nothing different about Dyers Eve, down picking songs (creeping death, master, blackened) are harder on the wrist than Dyers eve. And Damage is pretty fast too.
@@jutjub22 fast downpicking tires you out more than fast alternate picking
@@mikeortiz9664 exactly, that is why Dyers eve is easier.
Love seeing them playing better than before. Timing is very good, no rushing. 🤘
First thing I noticed!
Lars didn’t play the song right.
@@shad_914 He was pretty close, actually. Much better than he has been in years.
@@shad_914 right? he did. By playing it the way he wants after 40 years
They're playing to a metronome. There's no way they started the song without a count in of some kind.
I couldn't believe myself when I heard the intro tape for Damage at Copenhell, one of my all-time favourite Metallica songs! 6th time seeing them live and then they played this song I still get the chills thinking about it!

@@Xander_Park silly yank, Favourite is the correct spelling.
This song sounds so good live, works great with Het's current vocals.
Papa het sounds really good right now actually. Like his voice isn't falling off at all. At least in the last 10 years.

Too excited! I’m travelling from British Columbia, Canada to Portugal to see you guys at NOS Alive in Lisbon on July 8th with my 11 year old son! My first big concert was Metallica in 1997 in Calgary and 25 years later I’m taking my son to his first big concert to see the same band on a different continent!! Thanks for the memories that him and I will have for the rest of our lives! It really means the world to me!!!
waw. like your challenges
Welcome to Portugal friend. 🤘🏻

Saw them 5th May... dont take your eyes off the stage. They were truly massive.
“British Columbia, Canada” is literally three countries crammed into one place’s name
How they changed that riff with a little muting at 3:30 from the original is fucking genius these guys are gods.
@sadsadasdsadasdsadasyes they are lol

@sadsadasdsadasdsadas satan doesn’t exist. you are saying opposite to bible. god taught us free will. so satan can’t make me do something. this thing is so silly man.

@@tritotrofodude, don't be an asshole
3:26 even James couldn’t resist the groove 😂I love that so much maybe even more than the original groove
nice to see kirk nail solos. the band must be recording new stuff james sounds excellent
About time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the bands quality overall is way better leading up to and after an album release, around 2015 before HWTSD came out you could tell they were cooking up something and all through 2019 afterwards they were a beast, their def cooking up something special rn
Оf course, touring so far from home is carried out before the release of the album. Аfter the release, they will traditionally tour the USA first
I doubt we'll get another album cuz they haven't said crap i haven't heard no interviews of any new material or nun
@@mikeortiz9664 April 2023
James sounds FUCKING AWESOME.
The additional palm muting at 3:25 takes that riff, which is already so vicious, and makes it that much heavier
the variation in the bridge is so fucking chunky and heavy. i fucking love it
The bridge is my favorite part of the song
Easily one of their most underrated tracks and one of their best live.
It is not underrated
Don’t know what’s done it, but man do they sound fantastic as of late. Everything is on time, Kirk killed the solo, you can actually hear Rob’s tone, and James sounds great.
Just really really tight lately. You love to see it.
Testament
@@robertwalker3357 another great thrash metal band
Rob sounds incredible 🥵💨
I totally love it that everytime there’s a guitar solo, they start filming… the drummer. Then the back of the lead guitar. Then the crowd. Then the fly on the amp. And then, last 3 notes, we see the solo. 🤯
Love how you can hear these songs thousands of times, and then hear a new live version, and it refreshes the song. Sounding great, Metallica!
Liking Hetfield's seemingly newer approach to the rhythm part of the bridge riff instead of holding out E entirely before the lyrics come along.
I'm sure he's happy of your approval LMAO 🤣
@@Xander_Park god forbid someone say they liked something. not sure what your problem is
Just before the “we chew and spit you out”…?
@@brianlord2 That's the one, yeah
maybe he did that because the riff is fucking hard. Its a nice touch tho
That was a tight performance. Nice to see the boys keeping in top form 40 years into it!
All I can say is they sound better in the last year than they have in a long time. They never sounded bad, but Lars is on fire, and he and Robert are amazing together. I'm a fan since 1985. I'm seeing my favorite band just blow me away. My adult Make A Wish..... To spend a little time with the band, have Lars show me how to play those purple Tamas, and see them from the front row. These guys have never failed to deliver, and now they are giving their all and more to their fans. For those that were with them from the beginning, we've witnessed a metal band become artists. THANK YOU METALLICA🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
They sounded very good in 2017/18 on hardwired tour, now its getting better with every show, they looks and sounds younger and freshier...
Been a fan of them for a long time as well, seen them three times live(hopefully one more at some point) and I agree they sound really good right now. I saw them on the Hardwired tour and they also sounded great, but this is a little different. I feel like they spent the lockdown working on timing and sync, and tuning their sound. James looks fucking great right now, and it looks like they are just having fun. I can't believe they still play and sound like this. I would like to see one more album because I loved Hardwired. I listen to songs on that album all the time, sometimes almost every day still. I hope they keep rocking a bit longer.
@@georgen5882 I totally agree with you. The whole band gives over 100%, and they give it together at each show they play. James voice is the best I've heard in a long time. He sounds healthy. That's what we all want for the whole band. Health and happiness. I think they've found it. They give it back during their shows.
Im sure Lars is playing to a click track now. Best decision he ever made!! Sound fkn awesome 🤘
Maybe quit drinking so much? James standing instead of crouching allows for better and easier singing.
Amazing vocals, and playing, as with yesterday's Sandman. However, cannot not ask myself how late it must have been for it to be so dark in Copenhagen, this time of the year. Midnight, without a sweat ☝🏼
They played between 21:30 - 23:30, and this was the first song from the encore, so about 23:15. You weren't completely off my friend. :)

Wow. This is one of the best live versions I’ve heard. Lars’ playin is so tight, James sounds incredible, and the mix is perfect.
Strong performance here!!! I just like that James goes up to Lars when Kirk is soloing, not taking up his spotlight.
I used to listen to this album on my school bus ride to and from school in 1986. I distinctly remember sitting in the back of the bus with my friends singing "fuck it all and fucking no regrets." This performance took me right back: 36 years! They sound sharp, dialed in and hungry. And Larz is on point and driving this whole monster. Effortlessly brutal!
❤🤘
Same here. Only my high school there were probably only 15 people that knew who Metallica was in 86, we used to get made fun of, all the posers said it was noise. Fast forward when One got some air play and those same people are wearing Metallica shirts
Bloody Hell....they sound magnificent and tighter than ever! All those words like ''sold out'', ''demetalized',' ''soft'' etc don't mean anything in regards to Metallica.
It can apply to some of their albums
@@Mari000
I don't think so mate, those words don't mean much to me in regards to Metallica's works. I don't feel that the Black Album, Load and Reload were soft or lacking in any way, they were following a more diversified direction and it is great to see an artist venturing into new musical territories and expanding horizons instead of staying stuck in the same box. Bands should evolve with the times and break new ground.
@@vinaymulukutla358 fair enough. I love the Black album. Load, Reload, and St. Anger not so much. I’m all for change, but not all fans will agree on it.
@@Mari000 Hey...look, I'm sorry for being a bit blunt there and also coming off as a bit of a grammar nazi. I don't know what got into me.
You are right, not all fans will embrace it when bands change and we also have to respect that. I too was a bit disappointed with Load and Reload back in the 90's but I absolutely love them now (must have been an age thing). St. Anger, yeah...not exactly their finest hour but there is some potential in there somewhere.
The Black Album is just unstoppable for what it did in bringing heavy metal into the mainstream.
Meh, I wouldn’t say that. This is a shell of what they used to sound like compared to back in the day whether ppl wanna admit it or not. Sounds good, but nothing like the good ol days. Let’s not lie to ourselves here. They are pushing 60, drop tune their songs and have buzzy guitar tones
We need lars double bass for the last verse.... Seriously. That makes the song.
Stop it 🛑 ✋️
@@Xander_Park nah. He needs to stop leaving out the DB in songs.
No, it doesn't.
What, you expect the drummer for the biggest metal band in the world to be able to play double bass? Totally unreasonable!
I love Lars, he’s always been the man and an integral part in Metallica. But we all know he’s capable of double bass, I wish he’d use it more, and practice more! Bless him regardless though 💙
3:28-3:32 that's what I call dancing to his own riff, so badass from Papa Het haha
That riff is kirk's
Man James sounds amazing in 2022!!
Probably my fav Metallica song, still remember the day i heard it on UK friday rock show back in 1987 still have the recording on cassette...that Cliff intro is hauntingly beautiful.

@@clainsman2 indeed.
Amazing its cool see the new metallica concerts. Metallica lives forever
I used to blast this intro when I was young. Gave me chills. I had no idea how they made that sound. Later find out it's actually just Cliff messing around on bass with effects and volume. It would probably be a tall order and possibly more complex than I realize for some reason, but intros like this one, Justice, To Live is to Die, Battery etc. would be sooooo amazing if they actually PLAYED them live, instead of just the tracks. At least some version of them. The creativeness of this band is legendary and those brilliant intros are such a unique and beautiful way to contrast the heavy melodies that typically follow. Would love to see this and I'm sure millions of fellow Metallica fans would agree. 🙏🙏🙏🤘🤘🤘
2:18. James forgot the words. Can’t blame him though considering how many songs he has in his head.
he's been forgetting the words to Damage Inc. since around 2003

I saw them play Damge, Inc. during the Hardwired tour in Amsterdam. The buzz that started when the intro tape played was great! The place blew up when they fully started. back in the day, trying to explain to my dad, the solos all he could say is that he doesn't understand all he hears is noise. So i explain that you need to listen to just the vocals, then next you listen to the drums, then the guitar, as if the individuals are "chasing" the music. then you should understand the song a lot better(blank stare)... " ok Dad....Imagine jets...dog-fighting.." He must have listened to the solo part 100 times on this family trip we were on and at the end, he said "I hate to disagree with you on this but not Jets... More like a jaguar or panther getting chased or chasing its prey"....Wow dad...no more drugs for you! lol because i could understand what he was saying. ...just a funny moment I guess he went to work and bothered everyone there with is new appreciation of Metallica for months on end.
