Thanks for this. I appreciate therapists like this offering approaches to treat kyphosis. But the "subject" is always some young, fit guy or gal with pretty normal backs. I would like to see these with a real kyphosis patient; even with before and after videos. For long established kyphosis like mine, it seems pretty hopeless.
Typically, they’re going to video with a student or colleague, not a patient. I’m not disagreeing,, of course. And that first stretch, I can assure, on a real patient would over stretch low back lordosis and not touch kyphosis, unless the patient is schooled in focusing and isolating the effort to their thoracic back. And most older kyphosis patients would not be able to achieve the start position of the last exercise.

i have an hyperkyphosis of the toracic spine (hunchback), and i've been told i wont get rid of it visually but at least i would love to lower the pains when i work; are these excerices good enough for the pain or these are just for mobility?
I’ve gotten rid of of mines through working out and therapy. Unfortunately, I had a lower back injury and got a desk job and it’s back. I am currently working on getting rid of it and being more consistent with my exercises to Keep it gone
@@Navia424can u tell me what specific exercises u did to get rid of it? I have a 50 degree curve and have been trying spine extensions using a foam roller and have seen some changes in 2 months.
They all show these exercises with people who are almost fit. I find last exercise not good enough because if you have true problems, you just cant touch wall with your palms. It;'s even impossible to rotate otherwise you arch your lowerback so much.
Hi Vishakha, consistency is key here. It depends on your starting level (how difficult or easy is it to do those), but generally speaking in a few months, you should start feeling improvement. Please also have a look at another video we made on improving your mid back mobility; that will help as well!

It's good that you don't have pain. Many people won't have pain with excessive thoracic kyphosis, but it's still good to do these exercises and try to keep your spine mobile!
lordosis and kyphosis is normal in the spine, it's just an excessive kyphosis in the mid back that we are talking about. Lordosis is normal in the lower back and the neck :-)
Is it possible to fix hunchback? Like it’s never been there? I’m 16 years old boy and I developed kyphosis while I was obese. My back is really ugly, I want to fully correct it, is it possible?
Hi George, it will depend on the severity and the kind of hunchback you're talking about. Some forms will be more difficult to treat, but in any case, these exercises can only help (either a little or a lot)
ayo. It is possible. just keep stretching like this and use a pull up bar or even a doorframe would work, but just put your arms up and squeeze your shoulder blades. I looked like Quazi Moto last year and now its not too noticeable, but I also haven't been super consistent as my job requires me to hunch over and push a cart all day. Don't give up dood. It's possible.
Hi. First of all, thanks for the video. But in my opinion, the first exercise is not true for thoracic kyphosis. he shouldnt do cat part of the exercise. because it can increase the kyphosis
I think he said that the position of ant pelvic tilt and retract the scapula then hold the position and release the position by post pelvic tilt and protract the scapula .. this for activat the multividus and erctospini muscle
Hi Enis. The cat part of this exercise will not increase kyphosis, it will only improve the mobility. You're right that the 'cow' position is the one you should focus on, but the opposite won't hurt in any way 🙂
Honestly it takes much more than a few exercises to fix kyphosis, especially if you aren't doing them with good form. It actually requires a lifestyle change and regular strengthening and stretching exercises. And of course if your kyphosis is structural then you shouldn't expect any progress in your curve reduction.
Exactly! That is the absolute worst exercise someone with kyphosis could possibly do. Just look at how it exaggerates and encourages an increase in kyphosis. Not sure why I see this exercise in videos claiming to help eliminate kyphosis...
@@cinnamongirl3070 Because all of those "fix your kyphosis" videos are extremely misleading and don't actually refer to hyperkyphosis but rather to forward neck or rounded shoulders posture. They have no idea what kyphosis actually is.
