    Nice one Mark, enjoyed that show and tell of all the canvas kit. You've got some nice stuff there. I really like those Norwegian packs!
    I'm kind of similar to you in that I really like using the old skool kit, but I also like mixing things up from time to time and going with the lighter load!
    I can recommend Thornhill Ultraheavy. I've used one of his 8x8 tarps for a couple of years now and it's been great, really well made. I wouldn't say it's Ultraheavy as such, I weighed my tarp recently and it's 1.5kg, which probably isn't much different to your outhaus 8x8. Fine for backpacking. Thornhill just likes to use heavyweight leather tie outs and I think that's where the extra weight goes.
    Personally, I think an 8x8 tarp is the sweet spot for a solo camper, not too big and not too small.
    I also think you've done well to avoid Bushcraft Spain, I don't have any of their stuff, but have seen a few videos of them where people have had issues with poor quality control and bad sewing, not ideal considering the cost of them. Stick with the British made gear.
    Anyhow, this is a long and waffly comment, thanks for sharing 👍

      Cheers Barney . Yes mate I see that you have a little liking for the traditional style kit too . I do really like the 8x8 , its never let me down and is more than sufficient. But I do keep hankering for a 3x3 or 10x10 😂. It'd give the option of a fully enclosed tent type pitch , open setup or something in between,( if you know what I mean) . I do have a laavu for that purpose though 😂.
      Anyway take care bud and thanks muchly 👌🏕

      Hi Craig, hope your good. Yes mate, all the stuff seems really good so far, the journey man and David fryers bits are well made and just feel nice and dependable. I'll have to have a look into those makers you mentioned ( although I think I'm getting to that stage where I think I've got enough stuff😂) sometimes I spend an eternity trying to decide what I'm going to take out 🤔😂. Anyway, thank you for watching and keep enjoying the outdoors 👌🏕

    Nice one Mark , it’s interesting to see all the traditional stuff that’s available nowadays ,I reckon it’s better to buy british stuff as they know what suits us like never ending rain 😂 also good to spread the word for them as I’m sure they’re feeling the pinch like everyone , enough doom mongering nice to get out in the sun ,all the best Mick

      Thank you Mick. Yes mate. It is nice to buy from the British makers . The stuff I have so far is all well made and has that traditional hard-wearing feel that I like. Maybe not suitable for long distance hikes but good for a few miles and a really nice feeling camp. Take care and thank you for watching. Its much appreciated 👌🏕

    Cracking stuff as always Mark. Is that tarp bigger than the army basha/tarp mate

    • @treksntarps
      @treksntarps  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi Darren , Thanks bud.
      I'm not sure mate I think the basha is something like 8 1/2 by 7 ish Feet ( don't quote me on that 🤔) the tarp is actually an inch or 2 off 8x8 but is spacious enough for one and kit , 2 in an emergency.
      Take care fella 👍 🏕
