  • Hiking the Israel National Trail - Day 54
The base of Mt Meron to the edge of Dishon stream nature reserve. A beautiful day of hiking 😊. 14.8 miles hiked today.
Me and Di are hiking the Israel National Trail, a 1015km trail that goes straight through the heart of Israel. We are wild camping where we can and we’re heading south to north.
This is a daily Vlog series of our hiking adventure and I’m editing and uploading on the trail as I go along. I only have basic equipment (my phone) so apologies if the audio isn’t great in places. I’m just working with what I have.

34° C seems warm since your elevation is upward. Does it cool off quite a bit in the evening? The hyraxes are related to elephants? Awesome! Shine those day tripping tourists on. Once again some incredible views. I am still impressed by the drinking water availability and the shady rest/picnic area was a solid find. Rock on & One Love from Boca. W.

The water availablity is amazing on this section. It cools off a bit but the nights are very warm which is surprising with the elevation aswell. Cool fact about hyraxes 👍🏼 thank you. There were a lot of tourists but overall the trail has been very quiet which is what I prefer 😊 thanks for the support and your awesome comments 😊😎

    The dogs are livestock guardians.

That makes sense, explains why they came to check us out and then went back to lay down. I’m currently hiking the Hexatrek in France and there are a lot of guardian dogs here too, I’m leaning a lot about them. They all seem ok but still scary when a dog is running at you barking. It’s one of my worst fears when hiking being attacked by an out of control dog. Thanks for the message 👍🏼

@@RyansNextAdventure We also use guardian dogs where I live in Alberta (in the foothills of the Rockies). The dogs will generally be OK with humans if you don't approach them or whatever they are guarding but if it were bears or a wolf they will go after it. Mostly they just want to keep you away from the property/herd/flock and the homestead area (if they are in that area).
Many countries have problems with aggressive stray dogs that will actually attack people :( For example on the Kiribati Islands in the Pacific.
We have been to Israel twice. Great country and so geographically diverse in such a teeny area.
