    I have read that these have both 16:9 and 4:3 selectable choice in video.
    I ordered a pair off Amazon with head tracking to try out.

    Nice review! I didn't hear if you mentioned it or not but it appeared to have a built-in fan on the bottom of the goggles? Also, I would think that if they were going to include a DVR in the goggles whether it's AOMWay or Fatshark they should record to a minimum resolution of 720x480 especially since some are using wide screen displays. Most of the FPV cameras that I use are higher than 640x480 resolution.

      Do a review of these. I have them and love them. Only thing is only 32 channel. Have built in DVR, 2 to 4 S. Video in/out Can wear glasses with them. Has Frequency scan to scan before you plug in you VTX. Has Diversity RX. What more could you want for 200 bucks?

    Hi great review I'm using eachine goggles two at the moment but looking for something a bit smaller and don't want to pay the price of fat shark goggles. I'm very new to all this fpv equipment so I have no technical knowledge. If I get the goggles you have reviewed I'll up grade the antenna like you did. Please can you give me the information to order the right one. Because I'm unsure. Many thanks Andy

    I am looking for an upgrade over my Eachine vrd2 box goggles. These look pretty good now that they are $246 on Banggood. I am leaning towards buying them. I feel like they’re very close to the FatShark Dom3 for a much better price. I am sure that they will seem spectacular coming out of the Eachines. What do you think?

    • @GearheadENG
      @GearheadENG 6 років тому

      I was going to get the Eachine EV200D but Banggood just jumped the price up to $299. Now the Aomway V1 are winning. They have a lot of features for the money. They get the nod for me!

    Hallo AndyRC
    First of all, nice review, i have one question though.
    I own Fatshark Dominator v3 now. And one think i hate about them, is that they dont show band , channel or frequency in the display, when pushing the bottoms. Is Aomway showing that in the display, when you changing channels ??
    Thanks...

  • @randomwisdom845

    This looks like a very good option for passenger goggles as usually my friends or other people want to see the video. I'm usually carrying Cyclops goggles for that, but it's very bulky. For it's price point, Aomway looks very tempting.

    Hi Andy! I'm finally looking at moving away from my Eachine VR D2s to some goggle styles like these, and I have a couple questions that I haven't been able to figure out about these Aomways. I understand that that you can switch to 4:3, which I prefer for 4:3 cameras. Does the image look really small with the letterboxing around it? Also, does it save the 4:3 setting if you disconnect power? My last question is about the automatic DVR. Do you need to manually stop recording, or does it seem to have a capacitor inside that gives it enough power to properly finish the recording upon battery disconnect? Thanks Andy!

    It's so nice they decided to go with shop grey as a theme. I like the blandness of it all for I'm one of those guys that like my oatmeal without sugar or anything added to it including water.. I just eat the oats out of the box. Also like the fact they didn't mess around with any fancy wording or really anything stamped in to make it look like I just spent $361 plus slow ass shipping. Also the included rubber ducky antenna just reeks of quality and purpose. As a minimalist I often find ways to blend into my surroundings like wallpaper and wipe my arse with my left hand so I appreciate just how far they took the level of blandness here. So if anyone has enough introspection to realize you are that pontificating pedantic windbag boar or the meek scared shitless wallflower at parties then these are the perfect googles for you. Get them now while they are not hot!

    Hey Andy, thanks for making such informative videos. It really does help the newbies in your audience.
    I'm just wondering if you have had any experience with the Skyzone sky02 v2. I'm comparing those with Aomway at the moment and I'm just wondering if there is something I should be weary about with either headset.

    • @SavageThrash
      @SavageThrash 7 років тому

      Skyzone sky02s v+ is the best deal for googles right now. These Aomways may be nice but their unproven and the skyzones pack a few extra features. For the same price I'd have the v+, paid more than the going rate of 325USD and am still very happy with my purchase.
      Compared side by side HD in via connex with HD3, other FS goggle, Avente Glyph, Sky02 V+, Skyzones had the cleanest image. There was noise in the Glyph image. HD3 was more pixelated due to optics and that wide FOV, others FS goggles were overly blue in colour and had no adjustment.

    • @kenjifpv6511
      @kenjifpv6511 7 років тому

      Mugenski that's really good to know. Cheers! One quick question, how do they go with fogging? lack of fan does concern me. Is there a fix?

    • @SavageThrash
      @SavageThrash 7 років тому

      They come with a single large eyecup as well as a snap on faceplate. Where I fly it generally doesn't get too hot for any length of time so I don't have much of an issue. Temperature differential can cause mild fogging occasionally when I put the goggles on initially. To combat this I put them on my head while I get setup and not right before I fly.
      You can also 3d print faceplates or clips to mount other faceplates.

    Received mine after waiting like 2 months on preorder/backorder. Since 2-star review sure won't get approved on Banggood, I'll just say here that I am dissatisfied with this thing. First time using goggles other than the Eachine VR D2 box goggles. Maybe it's just my face structure, but I cannot get the image to be clear, always blurry around the edges and strains my eyes to the point of pain just to focus on the image. Receiver module isn't that great either, got breakup and some static flying within like 30 ft, while using TBS Triumph and Spironet patch antenna. Shadow and dark areas are VERY washed out, you can't make out any details. In my box goggles I can make out all the details even when looking into shadow areas. The transition from bright to dark (sky to ground) for some reason seems slow. I'm using Monster v2 camera, and on the Eachine goggles the change is instant without any problems.
    Overall I'm very underwhelmed, especially considering all the hype around these things. A very overpriced piece of basic crap, in my opinion. Will probably try to return to Banggood, but I don't know how that will pan out. May end up selling on ebay... Unless anyone has any idea how to fix these issues?

      Recording is 4:3 and the goggles display (in your eyes) 16:9.. Don't ask me why. And I'm not sure what recordings will look like when using a 16:9 camera, maybe it'll squash the image but I'm not sure about that.

    Great review. I think it's funny you need a class 10 MicroSD to record SD footage. I think all of these goggles are overpriced and this seems no different, but I do think it's nice other companies are offering competition for Fat Shark's longtime monopoly. I prefer 4:3 as well, so I'm glad I grabbed a pair of the Dominator SE's while they were available.

  • @patrickcol
    @patrickcol 7 років тому

    Thanks for the review Andy, a lot of people seem to be interested in these don't they?
    At £315 for the Aomway v £289 fro the Dominator v3 I'm not so convinced. The lack of battery on the Aomway almost cancels out the lack of Rx on the Dominators, (£33 for the RealACC diversity Rx or a bit more for the LaForge). There's not much in the price.
    I haven't seen a tear-down on these yet but the Skyzone goggles don't seem nearly as well-made as the Fat Sharks and these look very similar to Skyzones. The Fat Sharks are certainly very well made but do have several design flaws, like a clunky battery on your ear and a separate plug and switch for the fan, but the Aomways have copied some of these flaws too.
    They are all far too expensive for what they are but I guess if they could be made cheaper then someone would be doing it. Had they been significantly cheaper then I'd be annoyed, but they're not, so I'm happy with my Fat Sharks :)

    No batteries makes sense. Most of us have mountains of unused lipos in different sizes. If a battery was included we probably wouldn't like the battery anyway. For me the 16/9 format is a deal breaker though. Its simply wrong.

    As long as these types of "quality goggles" are not under 200 euros, I continue to use my cheap Eachine goggles. That's still too expensive for such a piece of plastic with tiny cheap monitors...and a little bit of technology, sorry. ;-)

      Robi Vom Mars Even if it will cost 90$ what i paid for ev800d I would never buy them. The only good thing about them is size but I never fell embarased or uncomfortable with box style goggles.

    non selectable screen ratio seems like a economic folly; surely it is not that expensive to make selectable??? They are shutting the door on a good percentage of potential buyers by there economics. If they are going to have a fixed ratio - why not 3/4?

    Do a review of these. I have them and love them. Only thing is only 32 channel. Have built in DVR, 2 to 4 S. Video in/out Can wear glasses with them. Has Frequency scan to scan before you plug in you VTX. Has Diversity RX. What more could you want for 200 bucks?

      Havent arrived yet but i cant wait!

      I bought the Dom V3 in February, but sold it last week due to some problems. Blurry edges, thin foam (which makes your forehead hurt). Can't wait for my Commanders since I can use my 3 2500 mah 2 cell batteries! :)
      Hope you don't get the same issues as I did. Although the blurry edges isn't really a problem. You get used to it, and look in the center of the screens anyways.
      Have fun!

    so my cheap goggles are like the fatshark in the sense that you don't know if your on the right channel and unfortunately mine don't even give you what channel or frequency your on so you just have to guess. my problem is that I can only go about 40-50 feet in open air before massive signal breakup. could it just be I'm not on the right channel or are the goggles just bad and I should order new ones

    • @patrickcol
      @patrickcol 7 років тому

      I had that on my first few flights too. Read the instructions that came with the video Tx and make sure you know what frequency its on, (as in 5740 or whatever channel you fancy). Then do the same for the Rx and make sure its on the same frequency. Don't just go by the letters and numbers as they differ between manufacturers.

    • @colelandreneau304
      @colelandreneau304 7 років тому

      What weird about my goggles tho is that you are given no info as to what channel or frequency the goggles are on

      AH, so only auto-tune. I've got the Quanum Cyclops which had the same problem but it did always find the right frequency. It could be a VTx problem or, more likely, an antenna issue. Best thing would be to try someone elses.

    If they made them for under $200 bucks they would be a fatshark killer but Greed wins the day again. I will stick to bigger heavy Cyclops style goggles.

    • @yonallb
      @yonallb 7 років тому +1

      There is a reason they cost that much (R&D cost, materials etc). I am sure aomway would love nothing more than to price fatshark out of the market.

      Yeah - The screens and lenses in these style of goggles are fairly unique. Unlike the box style goggles, there is nothing common to grab the components out of. If the parts were mass produced like 5" screens and fresnel lenses, then the price would drop dramatically.

      they are, they all use the same screens, see kabab fpv channel and his goggle video teardown of fatshark vs flysight. same internal screens from the same supplier.
