      There are the same as the Skyzones I think, but with a fan.
      I find the Skyzones more comfy and mach better image than my HD2s. HD2s are too narrow for my head.
      Like Stew said, it's the 4:3 v 16:9.
      But that's 4:3 blurry around edges against 16:9 very clear (and more pixels).
      Ive got the Skyzones with the DVR and HDMI and the HD2s so I've got no real bias.

    the prices of these goggles are obscene. there needs to be more people making goggles just to make them more affordable

    • @smail_mail
      @smail_mail 7 років тому +5

      Seriously, I figured these types of goggles are easily replicated by other companies, but either they are not, the patent on them is rock solid, there's not enough demand for a cheaper knock off, or a perfect storm of all of those things combined are in effect. When these goggles start running around $100, I'll buy without a second thought

      harry lenon I agree goggles are really expensive try something like the quanum cyclops if your on a tight budget they are great for the money.

    • @Trucker1970
      @Trucker1970 7 років тому +4

      harry lenon they made affordable ones and they are foam pieces of shit. how about you make some nice ones like this and sell them for $100 with adjustable diopter, a fan, built in DVR, HDMI in, etc. etc. etc. I'll buy them! oh.. and make them 100g lighter too 😏 for now though $300 isn't bad

      I forgot diversity!!! yeah all the good stuff.. only possible negative is the 16.9 but I've never used FPV googles so I'm giving it a try.

      Not just the Price Harry!
      Aomway is seriously lacking in their warranty and
      customer service, they are rude to customers and to dealers alike. The
      Flysight Spexman SPX02 is a better buy at $289 shipped from amazon and
      you will receive quality support and courteous customer service if you
      run into a problem. TRY IT OUT: Tech Support: bill_bai@aomway.com
      Landline: +86-755-66656939 VS: Email: support@flysight.ca Phone: +1 (403) 615-0809.
      If you are a US customer Flysight will take care of you, If you are a US customer Aomway will give you the runaround and tell you to contact the dealer who is often poor support.
      They do not have a domestic service address.
      Need I go on?
      Pathetic company. Might be a halfway decent product but that's not all that matters.

    thanks for this. can you please stick a camera or phone camera in the goggles to show what the screen quality is like compared to the fatsharks? it actually does work pretty well when you compare the two side by side.

    I just received my set of these, and i have to say I am impressed. Everything from fit to RF performance is outstanding. OMG they are light, so comfortable, plus battery in the back, is way more comfortable than along the side. Thank you for the review Stu, I wouldn't have purchased otherwise.
    A couple of things have changed since these were reviewed.
    1. It comes with a circular antenna now instead of a dipole (rubber duck) and its the outstanding AOMWAY one that we all love for being cheap and great.
    2. Has multiple playback modes, notably it can display 4:3 at the cost of some edge real estate. For those of us that will give up some pixels on the edge with no stretching.
    3. Buttons are labeled, not well, but labeled nonetheless.
    4. Headstrap has changed, there is now a strap that goes across the top. Giving three points of contact. Helps them stay in position.

    • @wyvern4588
      @wyvern4588 6 років тому

      I would've disagreed with you a year ago, but after trying both native 4:3 and native 16:9, it's nice to have a wider view of things, but when you are banked at almost 90degrees, left and right is now up and down, and it's cropped and gets very nerve-racking doing hairpin turns around trees.
      4:3 just works better if you fly a race drone,.

    Great video stew, I always love to see a video come out from you.
    I really think this video also shows the brand loyalty that Fat Shark has created, and that's the real reason they have such a stranglehold on the FPV community.
    You could only find positive things about the Commanders, saying they were better than your Fat Sharks in every single way.
    But you still choose to fly Fat Shark.
    I don't meant to be rude, but surely this is a brand loyalty issue. If you get a new quad, like the GT-2, you were more than happy to switch over to it because it's clearly better. You were used to your old quad, but it's worth it in the long run to switch. If these commanders had the fatshark name on them, you'd be happy to switch over, just as you did from Dom v3 to HDv2. (IIRC?)
    Are you really going to use the HDv2 for the rest of your FPV life, just because you're used to them?
    If we choose to buy the better product, we force innovation in the industry. If we keep supporting Fat Shark even when there are better products, we all lose out.

    I'm very glad to see the competition heat up around fatshark and fpv goggles in general. Grumpy Trevor is right about the nose issue - I need to do the same to line them up correctly and half the time they slide up as soon as I wrinkle my nose or smile. Irritating for sure. Would really love to see a side-by-side comparison of DVR footage, as well as some thoughts on long term durability (Chinese products tend to be... fragile.) Thanks for another great installment Stew!

  • @qumefox
    @qumefox 7 років тому

    Both Tx and Rx antennas should match, polarization wise, for best result. If you have a linear polarized antenna like a dipole on your quad, you'll get best results with a dipole, patch, or both on your goggles. If you have a circular polarized antenna on the quad, the best results will come from having a matching polarization cloverleaf, helical, or both, on your goggles. Mixing linear and circular polarized antennas is an automatic 3db signal loss.

    Don't know if it's been said yet, but they probably included the dipole antenna instead of a CP, because CP antennas come in right and left hand polarized. Not all CP's are the same. So they couldn't really include a CP that may not work with someones setup.

    And the truth finally is out. What kind of insanely priced goggles (talking about fatsharks) after already paying a lot for them, now you need to buy an aftermark diversity module for it to just have decent reception, then buy a faceplate w/fan just to avoid fogging up, then buy diopter corrective lenses just to get rid of "factory-issued blurred edges", and then buy an 18650 batt mod to just keep it running the whole day that you need it. No thank you!

    • @wyvern4588
      @wyvern4588 6 років тому

      That is the Traxxas method, you buy overpriced junk and then spend a fortune to have something not break every 5 seconds, but at the end of the day, you could've bought a Kyosho or an Associated and been happy right off the bat for less money.

    And it would figure that my Fatshark Attitude V3 and showing up in the mail today. I don't know if I could do that 16.9 ratio. The Aomway has lot of features and a great looking pair of goggles. If they had the 4.6 I would be sending the Fatsharks back. Thanks for the review.

  • @GadgetReviewVideos

    You forgot to put in some of the DVR footage. Maybe do another video with some fatshark footage and DVR from this one and some side by side from the same drone and camera for another video? To be fair, for this just looking to buy their first at a price point maybe do fatshark video with just one receiver module and the stock antenna also for the DVR footage.

  • @GadgetReviewVideos

  • @sl66ICEcuba

    If these were cheaper I would consider them as a back up set to my HD 3's. As of right now the cost just to save weight isn't doing it for me, considering the fact that I can have a pair of V3's for 40 dollars more. Still feel that being able to use whatever receiver module (that as well as actually being able to replace the receiver unlike these Aomways), plus FS has a bigger reputation. To me this is totally worth the little bit extra. Granted you also have to factor the receiver on top of 40 extra if you don't already have one. Just my opinion.

    I got the Transformer SE's and returned them as they were dim and were shutting down. I picked up an old version of transformers with BINO viewer and these are amazing! They are a bit heavy and uncomfortable, but optics are crystal clear, you can adjust focal length so your eyes are comfortable focusing on turns, 55deg FOV and they aren't that much bigger than regular fatshark styles.
    I just cant get on with goggle styles, I've tried but the price is outrageous and the picture is tiny, I've been spoiled with HMD's too long, the are the better flying experience, they are just big.
    I hope more companies will follow suit with the transformer Bino viewer, smaller form factor with crystal clear optics and large but not overwhelming FOV.

I've upgraded my receiver several times since I've owned my HD V2's because of diversity and new channels. That's the main hesitation I would have getting these.

    THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I've been wrestling with this terribly. This is definitely the route i'm going to go. Question through, what camera's do you recommend running with it since it is 16:9 ? Next battle i'm dealing with is a proper 16:9 camera.

    I just got my aomway commanders in the mail today! They claim they have an IPD of 59- 69 mm, yet they are just too narrow for my 67mm eyes. I'm going to have to mod them or sell them.

    The problem with these is the price, it's nice that all the UA-cam reviewers rocking a free review set think they're the best thing since sliced bread but Aomway, a low end Shenzhen "brand", are asking the same sort of money as FS but without the overhead of providing a global support network and warranty. I just managed to find the money for a pair of FS Dominator V3s (which I love) so I'm not impartial but I would never spend that sort of money on an Aomway product, knowing if anything goes wrong I'm either S.O.L or looking at the massive cost and inconvenience of shipping them back to China.

    Stu, you mention the screen FOV is immersive. I have the skyzone V3 goggles and they make the screen field look like it's about 6" away from my face. It's too far away for my liking. Do these appear closer than those?

    Hi Stew- it's Stew from over here in the USA. I've just watched your video on the aomway goggles and really like them! I noticed Cal said he uses reading glasses and he uses them. Right now I'm using quanum box goggles and then wear readers to get the screen focused. My question to you is- would the aomway commanders work for me? Love your channel and hope to get a reply. I'm not sure you go this far back? Thanks Stewart

    aomway did some improvement on the final release version. check it out on old Bruce channel. it can do 4:3 but he did not say whether it crops the image doing so. for racing 4:3 IMHO is the best aspect

      Thanks for all you awesome reviews. Could you please let us know if/why you prefer the aomways over the Skyzone SKY02S V+ 3D? From what I gathered so far, the skyzones 3D feature provides a clearer picture that helps to see and avoid small branches etc. Is this true in your experience?

    I'm assuming the antennas are SMA? I saw these on Banggood, backordered/preordered full, and a month late on delivering so far. If they become available I think I'll pick some up to replace my shoebox VR D2's.
