This series got me going on my Wedding Photography business...2 years later and I still come back to VJ’s videos to get me ready to shoot; even though I know the poses and have my own set poses, this gets me in “the zone”.
Wow good video, I thought after that bad blog about mirrorless cameras your work wouldn't be that good, but I was wrong. To bad you didn't give mirrorless more of a chance, as far as the gear you hold I have to agree with Jason it really doesn't matter, your work is what will define you. Great video thanks for sharing.
LMFAO - I'm so glad I finally read this. And hey... it's been quite a while since I wrote that and mirrorless has come a long way. I'm looking forward to the day I switch. :-)
Vanessa, you're shooting shallow and quickly but you seem to be bang on focus every time. Can you talk about what kind of autofocus you use for this kind of thing? I presume you're using autofocus? Great couple, great photos.
Richard Dufault oh good call! I manually move my focus button with each shot. It's a muscle memory thing just getting used to doing it. You'll also notice I usually take two of each shot, refocusing each time in case I'm off by a hair bc I HATE oof images
magic... jk :-) It's actually pretty tough but I'm always conscious of it and posing them accordingly as well as using a single-point focus and moving it around to select exactly where I want the images sharp.
not with this one, but check out the latest video for that! adorama.evyy.net/c/210748/51926/1036?u=www.adorama.com%2Falc%2Fseries%2Fbreathe-your-passion-with-vanessa-joy
traditional posing says yes and if I were entering these images in competition definitely. However, these photos are for my clients and letting his hand be shown does two things that they like: 1 - slims out her waistline 2 - makes them look more connected as a couple. You can always play with the "rules"
I love how you explain in 5 minutes and everything is so clear. Great video!
diego boscan thanks! I try to fit it in :)

This is a great video. The couple was awesome, but the bride was just so photogenic. Her smile was brilliant!
Vanessa is amazing as an instructor!
Well done, Vanessa! As a photojournalistic wedding photographer, posing people who are naturally gifted at it is difficult.

Great vid! Were you using a reflector to help with the lighting? or ?? Tnx! :)
This was phenomenal. She did more posing in 4 minutes than I would do in 30! Lol
Glad you enjoyed Dave! :)
God, I wish was half as good as this when it comes to posing.
just practice and you'll get it!
wow! awesome tutorial...may I ask what focus mode do you use? thanks a lot!
single point :-)
Could you tell me what focus setting are you using ?
Excellent, thank you so much. Just one quick question, did you use EV or Spot?
neither really - I use live view to get a basic exposure and then check my histogram :-)

great question Richard. Thanks for answering one so quickly Vanessa. You make this look so easy. Blessed.
Yeah those were spot on!
2:04 - how does this ISO work in 1/250 shutter speed ? because when i shoot in 1/60 and 100 ISO the image gets dark cant even see the details
With that 2.0 aperature how did you keep your subjects on the same focal plane an in focus?
magic... jk :-) It's actually pretty tough but I'm always conscious of it and posing them accordingly as well as using a single-point focus and moving it around to select exactly where I want the images sharp.
tanx
👍
dude u r a great director .. I'm the worst :(
Dilio Segundo just takes practice - nothing too magical I promise!
Vanessa did you actually use the profoto lights and what settings

what is the thing that is around your camera?
??? what thing?
Battery grip i guess
Is that kevin owens?
That 135 mm is a killer. Well, Vanessa too.
isn't it?? Love it!
rule #1 that MESS of hands in the beginning and second pose is a big NO.
his right hand should be hidden just sayin . . .
