"A really good director (and filmmaker) thinks about editing before shooting and editing during shooting."
That was the statement of an editor for a national television company who has won several awards. This statement
changed my filmmaking forever.
Hey Vuhlandes, don't know if you're gonna see this but I'm a newer UA-camr and I just wanna say thanks for all the stuff you've taught when it comes to making videos :) You've helped me so much when it comes to creating my channel, and though I'm still learning and still got a lotta stuff to apply to my vids, I'm slowly getting there. Happy New Year!
Happy new year !! I appreciate all the love and happy that you took something positive away from these videos. Keep going and keep creating! 🤎🤎
@@vuhlandes 😁😁
Truth. I've learned a ton here and been inspired to try new things.
I cracked up with your face when the subjects were adjusting themselves.
I love editing, it's where your film comes together. It's where you decide the pace and overall feel of the story. Of course, it helps to start off with good material.
This was a great reminder that editing is super important, can really make or break a project, but that doesn’t mean it has to be super complicated. I’ve been overthinking a lot, feeling like I need to do learn everything so I can do the most to make something worth watching. But I love a simple cut, and that’s really all I need. Thank you for sharing :)
Hey Vuhlandes, and Happy New Year! I'm a professional film and TV poster designer in NYC and I have been watching and learning a lot from your vids for a while now. Even though I am a designer and a visual person, video editing has always felt very daunting to me. I find that even when I am editing my own videos and tutorials that I am really tempted to 'over-edit' and add as many bells and whistles as I can. Either that or I overthink it and procrastinate because I see other videos that are edited better than mine. It was refreshing to hear from someone who knows video editing so well explain how to do it right without going overboard. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips to help us all improve! Keep up the great work. 🙌
Bro, your editing has this nostalgic vibe that I really connect with idk what it is, but it brings me comfort and just all-around good feelings.
bruh why does this feel like a short tv episode. so f**kin good man. I can't understand how your content can get any better, but it always does
Just came across your channel, a complete newbie to film/video/editing world. Really appreciate how you transfer your information, it's engaging from the get go, love how you show us, break things down afterwards unlike any of the other channels I've came across where everything is overwhelming. Basically thank you, feel like I have learnt so much already, look forward to watching the rest of your other videos!
Solid way of looking at things. I appreciate your perspective.
Glad you're still making these videos and those edits are tight man! Thank You!!
I'm curious, could you go into more of how your pre-production fits into your work flow? I love the sequences in this video and wanna know what the start of your process is compared to the end.
I gotta say you are a big inspiration on why my videos look the way they do man thanks a lot my guy !! Wishing you more success all 2024
Sound design, music, shots (basketball transition especially) and the commentary in this intro are all soooo damn good bro 🔥🔥🔥

Always inspiring mate cheers - commiting to an idea and seeing it the full way through can be a challenge but the end result is so interesting for an audience.
Those people coming in to be photographed was so great.

holy chruisto you are the goat. insane content g.
Guys wake up.. Vuhlandes posted🎉
Happy new years 🎉
My biggest take away from this is I want to use still tripod shots more. Your videos have a comfortable energy that makes them hard to look away. Editing is highly motivated by the energy of the shot itself and what it's moving in to, and these two in tandem in your work feels like a breath of fresh air versus the prevailing trends of the last decade in videography
I loved that intro no lie
I smiled all throughout!
And another one..classic and inspiring
Thanks for the fresh motivationnal boost. (From Belgium)
Love this one the intro is amazing!
You've leveledu p on your videos so much
Hey Vuh, could you PLEEAASEE do a video on how you color grade? Bought your LUTs but i couldn’t be more lost 😅 sooo yea that would help tremendously!
Appreciate this video man! 🙌
I think the art of storytelling and mood setting isn't getting enough attention anymore and is overshadowed by videos with fast-paced eye candy transitions and effects. I guess this also has to do with the social media generation and how people's attention span has been lowered to about 3 seconds. I for one prefer taking my time to tell my stories in a cleaner edit, without using the latest and greatest transitions. Sure, I probably lose a mass audience of the 3 second attention span folks, but I'm okay with that.
Keep on creating and staying true to yourself🔥
Maaaaaan your breakfast was massive 😅. Thanks for the video btw
TOP video! Appreciate you.
Man I love your content.. Very few folks I keep up with on UA-cam these days..
ill be so rwal, you absolutely NEED to drop more vids like the intro vid , loveed it
Love it
Simplicity is the best way to tell a story - it's all about it, isn't it?
Hope the 2024 will be even more creative for all of you guys!
Take care! ✌
This man inspires me to finish the short film I’m making with all of my friends

Your colors are always so good. Do you push your yellows towards orange, or were those egg yolks just really orange?
You really made me laugh at the 24-second mark. We all sometimes overlook the obvious. :)
