I actually really like having a 2" curly tail grub with me wherever I go. I can't tell you how many times a white grub has saved me from a skunk! I've caught everything on those!
If it's a creek I go small swim bait, in line spinner, small crank bait, I really like the teeny R, a finesse rig (hellgermite, worm or fluke style I usually have all three and throw them on the same ewg jig head) and jig with craw trailer.
I buy Roadrunner underspin jigs bare and do my own dressing of chartreuse marabou tail and chartreuse flash chenille. I’ve caught a ton of fish on them up to 6+ lb. Largemouth.
Jig and Pig, Jig and Pig! John you have got to try and become proficient with. You can vary weight, size, color and action. Very very versatile in its self! Good luck!
the zman larvaz in black on the 1/30oz micro finesse shroomz jig have been a banger for me in the creeks! countless bright red breast and bluegill. and a pickerel!
Those baits do work for you, but I've tried your yum dinger lemonswirl, can't get a bite on it, the spinnerbaits same thing, even the hellagramite, but I'm not fishing a creek or stream majority of the time & occasionally a river, but you have confidence in them and that's good & what matters!🎣👍
John, I really like all your videos. You are so right about the 4” bubblegum yum dinger. Caught some big largemouth with it. My new go to lure, along with the Trick Worm any color. I fish Harris chain of Lakes in winter. I lived in Ooltewah until 5 yrs. ago and fished Chickamauga around Skull Island area. Liked 3 1/2” twister tail grubs and Trick Worms. Too old to wade streams now so I am riding with you in the kayak. lol . God Bess you, and keep it up.
I've been using the wacasack wacky jig head with the floating tadpoles! I also grabbed a freedom.zodiac wobble head to try out the helgramites on.1/16 oz.and the balsa floating Rapala. 2 to 4 inch size.
Lots of good info John. My problem is, I take so many different lures. I guess I need to get more confident with what I’m using. Great video. Thanks for sharing
If you've never tried a Eurotackle EPF swim for panfish, you should really look into them. I have caught hundreds of sunfish as well as small bass one the EPF swim and I never go on the water without one. Love your content.
I include a frog for lilypads, and a whopper plopper! Crank baits for me are the big one..I’m now getting into chatterbaits and jigs with trailers..I have a July tournament coming up for our church that will be my first tourney in quite a while!
Great Variett John. Only thing I would change, I prefer A trick worm over the Stick Bait, but both will get the Job Done... Great Vid Like always. Blessing to You & Your Fam!👍🏾
When stream fishing for smallies, how do you change tactics/lure selection when the water goes from clear to murky after rains? Love your videos and thanks for posting them!
Great video brother. I've been guilty of bringing too many choices. I also whittled my selection to top 6. Yum Dingers, spinnerbaits, topwater but 2 or 3 styles (you see the problem right?), a plastic craw, and swim baits. Usually an inline spinner or 2. Now I just need to lighten the volume of each. Blessings John
Hey John Quick question. I know you recommend the Z-Man BulletZ for the 3 inch Nikko Hellgrammite and the Owner Block Head for the new Yum Hellgrammites. What hook are you using with the 4.25 inch Nikko?
Interesting to see you break your content up but it makes sense - I always appreciate these kinds of videos but the last time I talked to my buddy in Arkansas that guides, he said "people only care about what bait you're using, not conditions or technique." I guess it's different for everyone, but that makes it challenging when you're trying to figure out what to make videos about to reach the widest audience. Good luck with this channel, I'll be watching (in a non-creepy way...).
The top 5 lures for your minnow fishing? Seriously? I enjoy some of the videos but you're getting a bit ahead of yourself giving fishing advice! Anything to make a buck, I guess.
For creeks -
1. 2.7" or 3" swimbait (6th Sense Divine Swimbait, Megabass Dark Sleeper)
2. Inline Spinner (Arctic Spinner, Blue Fox Vibrax)
3. Micro Spoons (Dardevle)
4. Marabou & Zonker Jigs
5. Whopper Plopper
I always have Panther Martins with me. Black body with yellow spots and gold blade.
I actually really like having a 2" curly tail grub with me wherever I go. I can't tell you how many times a white grub has saved me from a skunk! I've caught everything on those!
that is a good option i should use more
Small rooster tails also work awesome in creeks
Timing of this was perfect. I needed to cut through the fog of owning too many lures and it being OK to scale down what I take along.
Good choices. don't have any of the YUM helgrammites, YET !!! LOL !
Rubber hellgramite, rubber shad tail, rubber worm, beetle spin, floating rapala minnow.
Haven't watched a second yet, but gotta be the Hellgrammite!!!
I always carry in line spinners. They just work.
I've had many a fishing trip saved by a crappie jig (16th or 8th oz). The bass weren't biting but something smaller was.

Great video
I figured trout magnet would be your small all around. Great info
How about a Johnson beattle spin? I have caught more fish on that than just about anything
My top 5 is very similar:
1. Rebel Crawdad
2. Swimbait (soft plastic)
3. Senko
4. Spinnerbait
5. Helgrammite
Sadly missing mention of tube baits, gitzits. One of the first finesse baits popular here in Arkansas
I thought for sure you would have a Flat A crank bait. Covers a lot of water. Good stuff John.
White rooster tail. Size depending on where I’m fishing
Thank you for sharing. God bless you and your family...🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
The 3.5 inch yum pulse swimbait is fantastic. I use them alot for spotted bass in North GA.
Jig and Pig, Jig and Pig! John you have got to try and become proficient with. You can vary weight, size, color and action. Very very versatile in its self! Good luck!
My 3 baits are crappie nibbles....gulp minnows....powerbait power nymphs
White rooster tail gets it done for me. Caught my PB Small Jawl and my PB White Bass this spring…
Love these kind of videos. Keep them coming John.
I have a similar 5: Spinnerbait, Dinger, Hellgrammite, Curly Tail, Joe’s Flies or Rapala Floater.
All great options to always have with you! Thanks for sharing!
the zman larvaz in black on the 1/30oz micro finesse shroomz jig have been a banger for me in the creeks! countless bright red breast and bluegill. and a pickerel!
Surprised no top water poppers.
I had that yum 3or4 in paddle as a chatterbait trailer on for probably 12 catches before it ripped.
Thanks for the info.

Really good selection of baits. Depending on time of year I might throw in a whopper plopper or a frog. Thanks for sharing.

What happened to the boat project?
Great tips thank you
Lots of good info John. My problem is, I take so many different lures. I guess I need to get more confident with what I’m using. Great video. Thanks for sharing
Great tips!
What the heck. I just realized you had a second channel. You sly devil. Subbed.
@Flushdraw this one dude! 😀😀😀
Good video John, really like these informative videos. We all want to "fish like John"! All the lures mentioned will now be sold out at our Walmart!
F 7 or F9 Rapala. Stays in the strike zone in slow moving creeks
If you've never tried a Eurotackle EPF swim for panfish, you should really look into them. I have caught hundreds of sunfish as well as small bass one the EPF swim and I never go on the water without one. Love your content.
Yep I have used them
I include a frog for lilypads, and a whopper plopper! Crank baits for me are the big one..I’m now getting into chatterbaits and jigs with trailers..I have a July tournament coming up for our church that will be my first tourney in quite a while!
Thanks for helping me catch more fish.I will try those lures. And let you know 🙏👍
Great Variett John. Only thing I would change, I prefer A trick worm over the Stick Bait, but both will get the Job Done...

Great selection! Appreciate you sharing!
When stream fishing for smallies, how do you change tactics/lure selection when the water goes from clear to murky after rains? Love your videos and thanks for posting them!
i have not done great in murky water that is normally clear, spinnerbaits is about all i throw with confidence
I've been fishing a pond near my house keeping my spinnerbait just above the submerged weed beds. Kinda slow rolling it.
Those Yum swimbaits are killer. Try nose hooking them with a retainer.
That could be my list…. Great info. I try to match some of those with elaztech baits so I can limit quantity I am carrying.
I bought a few of those covert series spinnerbaits and and have been bucking them around a lot. Hard to beat!
I never going fishing without a 3.5inch white swim bait on a 1/8 berkly fusion Ned. And a blue and silver Bobby garland with a 1/16 white jig head
Love your videos! I started using a crick hopper bc of you!!!!!
Great video brother. I've been guilty of bringing too many choices. I also whittled my selection to top 6. What color hellegrmite work best
This is very good to know! I'm going to make some changes to my small box.
thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences . take care dude .
Good stuff, confidence is key!
Is the YUM hellgramite only going to be sold on lurenet or will they get to bigger stores like bass pro?
that's good stuff.
Somebody explain to me what the difference is between a shallow running Rebel or Rapala lipped bait with what guys today call jerkbaits?
Great lures!!! With those in the bag you’re good to go just about anywhere!
Good suggestions. I tried one of the Keitech swimbaits and got a new pb largemouth on it! Also broke off what looked like a big spot on some concrete.
Great info. Thanks. Have you used beetle spins?
Hey John
Quick question. I know you recommend the Z-Man BulletZ for the 3 inch Nikko Hellgrammite and the Owner Block Head for the new Yum Hellgrammites. What hook are you using with the 4.25 inch Nikko?
Good selection. But I have to have curl tail grubs
Sad you did not say rebel crick hopper.
What color Hellgermite would you recommend
Mudbug
I’ve looked everywhere for the yum helgermite. Where can I find them at
Lurenet
I bought some yesterday with John's code.
@@willoughbyadventures1141 what’s the code and what colors should I get never fished with them
@Caleb price dalton15. I ordered natural Cleveland and copper creek. They all look awesome
The booyah prank. I've cought multiple species of fish off that lure
A minnow, worm, bug, grub, and something flashy will get it done.
I always have some sort of chatterbait
Night crawlers
Popie Buzz bite
Yum sponsored?
If so, good for you brother

Got 4 out of the 5 no problem #5 has changed used be Creek Hopper or wee craw when you did mainly creeks but #5 varies to where you are now.🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🛶🛶
How do you rig the bigger nikko hellgrammite?
Owner Block head ewg hook and weight of your choosing depending on your waters.
