    At this point in an athletes career, the main focus is mobility, flexibility, and Injury Prevention. Most athletes are not going to be trying to break weight room records like they did in high school and college. I thought his workout made a lot of sense.

    • @gunsnderrickroses2777
      @gunsnderrickroses2777 4 місяці тому +8

      exactly man well said. The strength foundation is already there, and I'm sure it's still trained here or there. But the main focus/majority of the workouts are going to be all about the things you mentioned, and specifically movement quality. There's a time and place for max strength training, and with his training history and age it's not longer needed as a primary method of building and maintaining a strong, healthy and athletic body

    • @ffryan
      @ffryan 3 місяці тому +1

      It's also about training for the type of athlete they are. CMC isn't breaking any weight room records as you mentioned, so why bother trying? Brute strength didn't get him to where he is so why change what works. He shouldn't train the way a Chubb or a Barkley does. And if this is an in-season workout he doesn't need to burn himself out in the weight room and not have enough left for the field. You're right, this is a great workout for him.

      By the time someone becomes a NFL starter, they’ve already had years of power lifting under them. That foundation has been built. If you’re a high school athlete, start with basic power lifting and get that strength base. But once you have it, you move onto more sports specific stuff. CMC is doing stuff to help with his mobility, flexibility, injury prevention, yes, but also to help with speed, explosiveness, and coordination.
      You see a lot of unilateral and rotational work with pro football players. This is stuff you get to after you’ve got that base.
      All that being said, I’m sure CMC can still back squat something like 500 lbs.

    One thing to note about his training style here is he is a veteran nfl player. He is already strong. Younger athletes pushing their weights in the gym is good because their building a foundation of strength, which is initially going to make you more explosive and athletic. But Christian already has that base of strength so they are trying to totally optimize his explosiveness while avoiding hurting himself continuing to push the weight he throws around. He probably still has strictly strength oriented days, but also probably exclusively sprint/plyometric days and then these weird look variety days. But his workouts will and should look different than, say, a college freshman RB. Build your foundation first, then later (could be YEARS later) add in the things to tune your CNS to being explosive.

    Love his training. It's motivated me to work on movement, flexibility, and explosive speed. Something I used to have when I was younger. I'm now one month into my CrossFit training at Brick Fitness in Los Angeles and it's already made a difference in my mobility and flexibility. Getting ready to resume competitive flag football. It's been a while, but this training gives me a lot more confidence. My home gym now includes, Plyobox, bands, and medicine balls, and have since shifted my workouts from almost all weight lifting to 50% plyometrics, and 50% basic compound movements, as well as cleans and jerks. Watching Coach Kula work with CMC has been very inspirational and instructional.

    The biggest thing when it comes to sports training is to hit those lifts with focusing on balance. The lunges he did. I like to one leg RDL with my foot angled. Using bands as resistance. Also use an exercise ball for the dumbbell press to target your core. Also you focus more on explosive movements during the lift. Everything looks legit here, good job. CMC having a career year!

      @DavidWilliams-zz7fp Lamar Jackson is 15th in passing yards, 12th in passing TDs, 8th in completion %, and not even in the top 20 in neither rushing yards nor rushing TDs. In fact, three other QBs have more rushing TDs than Jackson; one of which is..... wait for it......Josh Dobbs. Sorry, those aren't MVP numbers, QB or not. In a grossly down year for QB play, it's McCaffrey's to lose however, they'll likely give it to the undeserving Jackson anyhow.

      @@scottgood7888 you’re conflating the concept of being a statistical outlier with something (an award) that is heavily qualitative: Most Valuable Player (to his team). Without Lamar, ravens likely miss playoffs. Same could not be said for 9ers without cmac. I notice you left out LJ’s rushing stats (yds and TDs). Why? They benefit his team. I see this kind of cherry picking a lot from the anti Lamar crowd. I suppose to convince those folks, he’ll just have to show once again he’s San Fran’s daddy if they meet in the SB 😎

Flag football would let speed, agility, and talent really come to the fore. This guy getting smashed to the ground every play he carries is flirting with disaster. It needs to end.
